Hey all!

Looks like we filled up the first thread pretty fast! Took me a while to realise why I couldn't send a message.

This is the first thread I've ever created, so hopefully I've done it right.

I'm going to tag the most recent users that commented, so sorry for a lot of the people that I miss. Hopefully everyone will find this.

John Lewis has a nice list that I am using for guidance

Sunshine8888 · 07/01/2020 11:36

How is everyone feeling? Some of you due early April must be heading into the third trimester now??

Serendipity001 · 07/01/2020 16:27

Hi all,

I've been a bit absent on here just caught up today. Been extremely busy with work and house stuff and trying to get nursery ready and buying baby stuff on the sales and the run up to xmas which we hosted!

I had a couple of weeks a little while back where I was exhausted all of the time couldn't even get up the stairs without getting tired and then to top it off I managed to get sick so couldn't hold any food or liquid down and then had to go hospital where they made me take an IV drip! Not very pleasant!!

How is everyone doing?

@chrissiexxx congratulations and I hope your little one is much stronger now!

@bookworm83 I have pretty much done the same as @lannacorrea and compiled a list from various websites after heavy research and friends and family, unfortunately I didn't keep my list as I deleted things as I bought them but if you have any specific questions happy to answer if I can! This is our first baby but I also have lots of new nieces and nephews so that certainly helped with knowing what to buy. The nhs and John Lewis one is a really good starting point.

@Sunshine8888 Headed into third trimester I'm starting to get more tired again and realised I need to slow down but it's hard because there's so much to do. I'm probably nesting! How are you doing?

Sunshine8888 · 07/01/2020 17:46

Hi @Serendipity001, sorry to hear you’ve been unwell - hope you’re feeling better now.

I’m ok thanks, starting to get quite uncomfortable with back and hip pain, also a feeling like something is stuck under my ribs which makes it hard to bend down! I’m due very end of April/early May so I’m a few weeks behind you - I’m sure it’s going to get a lot worse 😬

Bumbliebee · 08/01/2020 09:04

Hey everyone, I haven't been on for a while as I had a few problems with the App. I was wondering if anyone else wanted to join our April babies FB group? You're all welcome if you'd like to, it's a very friendly and private group.

lannacorrea · 08/01/2020 09:40

@BumblieBee I'd like to join FB group!
How do I do it?

Bumbliebee · 08/01/2020 12:19

@lannacorrea if you PM me a link to your FB profile I can add you 😊

Pip231018 · 09/01/2020 07:23

Hey All,

Happy New Year. Hope everyone's pregnancies are progressing without hiccups.

I'm 26 weeks tomorrow and have gained 7lb. I feel really bad about it, my friend is at the same stage and has only gained 2lb. I'm worried that I will pile weight on in the last 3 months. I know that 7lb isn't lots in the grand scheme of things but my consultant told me to not gain a huge amount.

I've not had any morning sickness so didn't lose any weight in my early pregnancy. I just feel like a lump, my bump looks more like a very very large pasta meal combined with a lot of bloating. I don't know at what point I'm supposed to glow.

Sorry for the moan. X

Bumbliebee · 09/01/2020 08:13

@Pip231018 I have come to the conclusion that 'glowing' (other than making you feel hot and sweaty) is a complete myth. I gained around 2st (think slightly more) overall last time and most of it in my second trimester. I actually find it harder to eat properly in the final trimester as the baby takes up so much room. 7lbs isn't too bad, don't be too hard on yourself

BethanyMoore143 · 09/01/2020 11:18

Hi, I am new. My name is Bethany. This is my second Pregnancy. My baby is due April 12 2020.
I am currently 26 weeks and 5 days Pregnant.
I am a bit nervous about this one for some odd reason. My first born is 6 years old and a boy. Best kid ever!
This baby I am currently Pregnant with and the Pregnancy is completely different ! I went from only throwing up at least 4 times with my first Pregnancy to throwing up over 20 times on this pregnancy. Just a lot of Nausea, morning sickness, and only able to have certain foods without throwing up or gagging.
I feel like I'm almost vegetarian on this pregnancy but craving and wants sweets all the time !
Last Pregnancy I ate what ever and nothing rarely got me sick. This one,....... Picky eater!
Apparently I am having another boy but hoping for a girl. 😢

Leag1 · 09/01/2020 13:11

I am 28 weeks today. I've been referred for a growth scan as my stomach is measuring too small. It's my first so not sure if I should be worried or not?

Pip231018 · 09/01/2020 15:58

@Leag1 Hey. My midwife told me that she is currently assisting with a trail on measuring v scans to see which is more accurate. My consultant also told me that measuring is outdated depending on your body and position of your baby. The fact they are sending you for a scan shows that they know you can get a more accurate reading. I get why you are worried but it could be a storm in a tea cup. The same happened to my sister and basically every midwife measured her differently and there was no issues at all. X

CateyA · 09/01/2020 19:30

Yikes I’ve gained a stone and am on track according to the pregnancy weight gain calculator. Did I get that wrong? According to the calculator I’ve still got about 10lb to go!

Thanks for the tip re biodegradable nappies. I was thinking of using disposables for the first 6 weeks and once I’ve mastered the basics of looking after him I’ll switch to washable

One quick question. I’m planning on baby being in sleep suits most of the time.

But how many should I buy? And how many should I get of newborn and 0-3 months?

Pip231018 · 09/01/2020 20:10

@CateyA it's different for everybody dependent on your weight at the start of the pregnancy. I'm only supposed to gain a max of 20lb. Tbh, I feel like I've gained 1lb on my boobs alone.

I've read 6x long sleeved and 6 x short sleeved. I found this article on The Mum Club on Instagram and it's my fave list yet, they said that first size and 0-3 is wildly different so unless you have a big baby get first size.

I am like you though, don't know what to buy, I have a growth scan on 28/01 so will find out how she is measuring. I'm hoping for small, for obvious reasons! X

Sunshine8888 · 10/01/2020 13:19

I have no idea about my weight!! I’ve never been one to weigh myself

Bookworm83 · 10/01/2020 17:06

@Leag1 I'm the opposite, baby measuring big / top of the scale. But the midwife said not to worry too much as this is hardly an accurate way of measuring babies. She said because I'm not very tall, it could just be that the baby is a bit more squished in there which makes the bump seem larger.

CateyA · 13/01/2020 19:10

Any ideas on how to get baby to move up a bit? He is sitting really low and for the last few days essentially kicking my bladder and rectum which isn’t very comfy! cheeky little pickle!

happymrsc · 13/01/2020 20:21

@cateya I just jiggle about a bit and hope for the best 😂 it is very uncomfortable though, I feel like it's got a limb stuck in my bowel a lot of the time

Pastnowfuture · 13/01/2020 21:46

@CateyA This is my first pregnancy and beforehand I always thought pregnant women went around rubbing their belly because they felt all all whimsical. When I rub my belly it's to try and move the little man away from my kidneys which he seems to enjoy kicking!

CateyA · 13/01/2020 22:14

I know! Exactly! My bean seems to be pushing his back into my right side most of this week so I’m trying to coax him round.. Or because I have that horrid tight stretching sensation and rubbing my belly is the only way to relieve it!

Can’t believe it’s 99 days til my due date! Into double figures!

happymrsc · 13/01/2020 22:42

Yikes, I read that and thought 'she must be a bit in front of me'... just checked, 97 days for me! 😱😱

Pip231018 · 14/01/2020 07:00

I've just been diagnosed with GD. Anyone else? I kind of expected it due to family history, but it's one more clinic to attend which I could do without. I have my first app on Friday. X

bowielove · 14/01/2020 10:16

@Bumbliebee I’d like to join the fb group! Will you send me a friend request or something first? I think I registered for the group before and might have had a friend request but as I didn’t know who it was I didn’t accept! If I know what to expect I will accept! :)

LokiCat · 14/01/2020 10:35

@Pip231018 I've just had the blood test for my GTT this morning. They've said they'll ring me in 48 hours if anything needs to be discussed.
Do you know what will happen at the appointment?

@happymrsc 97 days to go for me as well! It's going to fly by!!

@bowielove if you PM me a link to your FB profile I can add you as a friend and then invite you to the group 😊 I won't mind if you want to unfriend me afterwards, entirely up to you.
