Hey all!

Looks like we filled up the first thread pretty fast! Took me a while to realise why I couldn't send a message.

This is the first thread I've ever created, so hopefully I've done it right.

I'm going to tag the most recent users that commented, so sorry for a lot of the people that I miss. Hopefully everyone will find this.

@Pip231018 Same here. Nothing yet despite having an active baby on all scans.

LokiCat · 24/11/2019 19:14

Hi all! Sorry to hear so many of you have been going through pregnancy stress.
I've had the same this week. Had some brown spotting on Monday morning, which still hasn't stopped. I went into maternity triage today to get checked out because it's almost been a week since it started. Thankfully all was okay, got to hear baby's strong heartbeat which was so amazing 🥰

@Pip231018 I've had the exact same worries! I asked the midwife today and she said it is still early, they don't expect many to start feeling movements till 20 weeks+. It's the one thing I'm most excited about, so hopefully we'll all feel something soon!

Morning all,

I've had such a busy week at work I've caught up on all the messages early this morning with a big cup of tea.

I'm sorry that so many are having a stressful couple of weeks I hope this week is much better x

I have my 20 week scan tomorrow which I'm excited for but also feeling really nervous about at the same time! I was lucky to start feeling the baby at 16 weeks and the baby does kick fairly hard everyday but I just hope everything else is ok tomorrow. I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight!!

Has anyone been taking lots of pictures of their bump journey? I fully intended to document the journey when I first got pregnant and here I am at 21 weeks and I think I've taken maybe 1 in all this time I just don't know where the time has gone - it's surreal to think we're all over the halfway mark now!

Hope you all have a lovely week x x

Pip231018 · 25/11/2019 13:37

@Pastnowfuture @lannacorrea @LokiCat @Sunshine8888 Hey, thanks for replying. I actually went in to work this morning and mentioned to my boss I hadn't felt her move. My boss made me ring the midwife and the midwife told me to go straight to hospital.

I've just got back, they found her heartbeat and I burst in to tears. I don't think I will never not cry, I can never hear her heartbeat enough or know that she is alive. I'd do it every day if I could - a missed miscarriage is one of the worst things that ever happened to me and the scar it's left is anxiety. Basically the baby has moved higher up and depending on how she's facing can explain why I can't feel her the way I could.

If anyone is worried, I can't recommend it that they go and don't panic for 3 days like I did because you don't want to cause any fuss.

I'm taking tomorrow off work too, because I have a very stressful job, I hardly sleep and I have think I just need time to myself.

@Serendipity001 I have been taking pictures of my bump, every few weeks but I literally look fat, I'm just round bad my waist has gone awol. It's weird. My stomach was so hard next week but not this week, some days it looks smaller, some days bigger.

X

Sunshine8888 · 25/11/2019 15:52

@Pip231018 that’s such a relief, I’m so pleased everything is ok! It really is such an anxious time. I’m desperate to know that my baby is ok and that these subtle movements are actually her and not just me making it up because I so want it to be!

I’m just waiting at hospital to be seen for a cervical exam! I seem to spend more time here this year than I have my whole life!

Sunshine8888 · 25/11/2019 16:09

@LokiCat, how scary with the spotting but really glad everything is ok 💞

Pip231018 · 25/11/2019 17:35

@Sunshine8888 A cervical exam doesn't sound like much fun. I hope it went ok. I know what you mean, I've never been to hospital so much ever. I truly love the NHS, we are so lucky.

@LokiCat I'm so sorry, I didn't even mention the spotting. It's terrifying, I had it for 2 weeks with 3 significant bleeds. But my cervix was closed, completely unexplained. It's really worrying, but it does happen. Even though it's the most foreign thing when you're pregnant. Glad you're ok x

Leag1 · 25/11/2019 22:32

@Pip231018 after reading your post I realised I hadn't felt any movement since lunchtime, admittedly I've been out and about and on my feet all day. Thankfully after eating half a bar of chocolate and watching TV there is a circus going on in my belly keeping me awake.

For the past 4 weeks I have a terrible pain in my right knee the day after I walk a lot etc, however now it is constantly hurting feels like a bony pain in the joint. Has anyone ever experienced this?

Bookworm83 · 27/11/2019 16:48

Hi ladies, a question. Are any of you actually getting the pregnancy glow? Radiant skin and luscious hair?
Am I the only one who looks like crap, with more spots than I had as a teen?
The only positive change I've noticed is that my nails are growing faster and stronger, but I'd gladly trade that for a smooth face...

CateyA · 27/11/2019 18:25

No I’m defo not glowing. I just look like a more exhausted and chubbier version of me!

Prob doesn’t help that I’ve been spacing out my normal beauty treats .. dying my hair and having a mani... with the intention to save more! Roots and tagged cuticles aren’t very glowy either lol

chrissiexxx · 27/11/2019 19:10

Same with more tired and chubbier. My nails and skin are awful and have runny nose since week 6. All be worth it once we hear that first cry. Xx

littledinosaurs · 27/11/2019 19:50

I have a rather lovely red blotch that appeared next to my nose at around week 15 and is yet to disappear (now 21+3) 🙄

Pastnowfuture · 27/11/2019 20:09

No glow here either.

The experience of being pregnant was never particularly important to me in the way it is to some people. What I didn't consider though was the fact I might hate it, which I completely do. I feel lazy, miserable and awkward. I'm still nauseaus and vomiting everyday but even without these symptoms I think I'd feel similar.

I feel so guilty for feeling this way because I know many people long to be pregnant. Somedays I feel like a monster because I'm just counting down the days until this is over. I love my little guy but I never expected to find pregnancy this gruelling. Sad

Pip231018 · 27/11/2019 21:54

I have really thick hair anyway, so I can't tell? I've got spots because I kept falling asleep in my make up. I went through a phase of falling asleep by 9 then waking up on the sofa fully dressed and just about putting pjs on forgetting any kind of make up removal routine.
The only glow I see is my phone at 4am because I have terrible pregnancy insomnia. My job is super stressful and long so not sleeping is killing me.
@CateyA Tell me about it! I'm having to use a root spray to cover my greys. Being pregnant in conjunction with Christmas is less than ideal.
@Leag1 I'm very pleased you have a little circus going on in there 🥰
Also, whilst I'm sure everyone feels like crap, I'm sure you all look one million times better than you feel. Really hoping everyone gets some time off over Christmas to recharge (and watch everyone else enjoy bucksfizz and gin - boooo). X

CateyA · 27/11/2019 22:19

@Pip231018

Me too I’m dead asleep super early then wake up about 3/4am and can’t sleep for the life of me.. often accompanied by nausea too. It’s just started at week 18.. I’m nearly 20 weeks now.

The worst bit is my early morning brain likes to latch onto something ridiculous to worry wart about. This morning it was the pause in the doctors scanning yesterday when he was looking at baby.. did it mean something , should I of asked, did he lie when he said everything looked good as he was leaving the worker at the abnormality scan next week to break bad news.??? you see how this spiralled!

Saturday am I started a spreadsheet of finances at 4.30am after panic re money, mortgages and childcare costs!

I swear I’m loony at that hour!

Pip231018 · 28/11/2019 07:05

@CateyA Ditto. Mine was that I died in surgery because 4am me had an emergency c section. He died on the way to hospital. Or both of us died. Worst of all is the unmentionable and falling at the final hurdle.
Just depends on the day, any given day I just worry about something new. I don't think you can prepare for the emotions or irrationality you feel when you're pregnant.
Just applying copious amounts of root spray to cover these greys. X

Sunshine8888 · 28/11/2019 08:23

People keep saying how well I look but I don’t feel it!!! I feel shapeless and constantly worrying whether Baby is ok! I am still eagerly awaiting some definite movement ! Yesterday at my desk I felt a muscle spasm type feeling a couple of times, I wondered if that could be a kick. I don’t know what I’m expecting to feel so have no certainty that any sorts of feelings in my stomach are the baby 🤷🏽‍♀️ Roll on 20 week scan.... a week Tuesday!

lannacorrea · 28/11/2019 08:34

Good morning, ladies!

Good to know that I'm not the only one that is going to bed early to wake up in the middle of the night and stay awake until is almost time for my alarm to buzz...

My husband sees the glow in me, although I don't. But I'm really glad someone does!

I'm trying to be very mindful with my face beauty routine, even though a few spots showed up. But I'll keep trying.

I had my highlights done last week and the hairdresser has warned me that the color could appear a bit different than usual. Apparently it's a pregnancy thing. And it did! My blond turned out a weird yellow, almost orange near the routes.

What bothers me the most is not being able to control myself with food. I'm trying to be healthy but it's super hard, since I'm craving carbs and sweets all the time, things that I usually didn't eat before. So, I feel fat most of the time...

But I'm loving being pregnant, despite all these problems and situations, love seeing my bump grow and I've just started feeling baby moving, which makes everything better!

Hope you all have good end of week!
XX

littledinosaurs · 28/11/2019 18:25

@Sunshine8888 that sounds like baby!! Especially if you get 2 or more spasms in the same place. That's what I got for a while and I still get those as well as slightly more jabby ones and ones that are more like just tickly bubbles which are quite strange as I can't imagine what causes them. Not like gas, more like popping candy inside you. Hope your scan comes quickly for you.

al2616 · 30/11/2019 10:52

I had my 20 week scan yesterday. All was good with baby except they told me I have an anterior placenta. This has upset me far more than it should. (My hormones are making me incredibly emotional and I'm crying over nothing on a daily basis at the moment) It is my first baby and likely to be my only and I have always been desperate to be pregnant. And now I feel like the best part of pregnancy has been taken away from me since I won't be able to feel the kicks as much. But I also know that I'm being totally irrational and I know I should be happy that baby is ok. I just feel so disconnected from baby at the moment. Has anyone else had an anterior placenta before?

Navy123 · 30/11/2019 11:49

@al2616 I had an anterior placenta last time and felt plenty of kicks! Don't worry, baby will soon be so big you feel them loads. It just means waiting a few more weeks than everyone else.

CateyA · 30/11/2019 13:45

@lannacorrea

I was having the same difficulties making decent food choices to up until about 2 weeks ago (I’m now 20 weeks) and I suddenly realised I’m eating more fruit and veg again.
Somethings that have helped are surrounding myself with relatively healthy carb snacks like whole grain hot cross buns and I made some rock cakes with whole meal flour which are surprisingly nice especially for breakfast! I know they’re not super good but it felt like a good middle ground between the office biscuit tin custard creams and what I’d normally et when not pregnant.

I’ve got my 20 week scan on Monday ... getting a bit nervous especially as I’m 41 so definitely an older mum.

Also a bit tired of people telling me they wouldn’t find out the sex as they’d not want to ruin the surprise. I feel like labour day is likely to be full of some tough experiences/ surprises especially as I’m not allowed to go over 40 weeks so may have to be induced.
So I’m happy to minimise other surprise that day! And enjoy this one a little early!

lannacorrea · 30/11/2019 16:47

Hi ladies,
How was Black Friday for you all?
I've got plenty of baby clothes from H&M and pre ordered stroller/carrycot.

Feels so good buying baby's things!! ❤️❤️

Pip231018 · 02/12/2019 18:04

@lannacorrea Hey, I bought some things in Black Friday sale for the baby. And put the deposit down on a pram.

Have my 20 week scan on Thursday so feeling apprehensive but hoping all is ok.

Hope everyone else is having a good time and managed to get some sleep! X

al2616 · 02/12/2019 21:56

Not black Friday deals but I have just been to a Mum2Mum market. A place for people to sell their old baby stuff. Someone was selling babygrows for 50p! And a moses basket rocking stand for £4! They've got loads of nearly new stuff. Definitely worth a look! And they are nationwide.
