Hey all!

Looks like we filled up the first thread pretty fast! Took me a while to realise why I couldn't send a message.

This is the first thread I've ever created, so hopefully I've done it right.

I'm going to tag the most recent users that commented, so sorry for a lot of the people that I miss. Hopefully everyone will find this.

@al2616 that's really good! I'll look for that!! Thanks for the tip!
I can't stop buying baby things!! So afraid of that credit card invoice! 🙈

Sunshine8888 · 03/12/2019 08:31

I’m still too scared to bit anything until I’ve had my 20 week scan 😬 but then hopefully I can hit the January sales x

Sunshine8888 · 03/12/2019 08:31

**buy

Pip231018 · 03/12/2019 09:04

I am a walking zombie. I've been awake since 3am. I am petrified about my scan this week. I've got a higher BMI than I would like and feel so ashamed and guilty, knowing that it can be harder to detect things with a higher BMI. My job is really stressful (I know everyone says that) but it's so demanding, I have a team of 20 and I'm struggling for resource waiting for new starters. People keep calling in sick and making the days harder and riskier. I just feel like crying, largely due to lack of sleep. 100% fed up.

CateyA · 03/12/2019 17:57

Hugs Pip know what it feels like to be sleep deprived and emotional. Just be kind to yourself. I hope your scan goes well.

I had mine yesterday, was terrified but amazingly and so thankfully all was ok. We found out we’re having a boy which has made it feel so much more real now.

I’m daring to start to plan now.
I got a black Friday maternity winter coat with more than 50% off which was fab. Now chasing up all my lovely friends and family for hand me downs and lends and stalking some baby gro bags on eBay.

Has any one else’s midwives talked about colostrum expressing before birth or have you fine it? The doc suggested it at my appointment today. I’ve not had a chance to talk through with midwife yet.

Xx

CateyA · 03/12/2019 17:58

*or have you done it

Sorry typo

Leag1 · 04/12/2019 09:15

Is it just me or has anyone else developed really dry skin. The skin round my ankles feels like it's from a different person's body -even moisturising twice a day it's almost painful

brummiemumm · 04/12/2019 20:09

@Leag1 my skin is so dry! All over my torso and legs. Can't moisturise enough!!

Pip231018 · 04/12/2019 20:12

I've hot dry skin on my legs and arms. Looks like I'm shedding a tan but with no tan x

CateyA · 05/12/2019 08:13

My t zone/ nose is super dry and I look like I’m sunburnt and peeling if I forget to moistures

Anyone else dizzy or weak? I’m taking today off sick as I feel really wobbly and a bit faint even when lying down. My iron and sugar levels fine. I think it’s hormones as I’ve got a bit of nausea again too. Feeling bad for taking more time off work but my boss doesn’t seem to mind

Navy123 · 05/12/2019 13:41

@CateyA I've been really dizzy today too, just come on suddenly. No idea what it is!

Pip231018 · 05/12/2019 18:08

Hey.

Dizziness can be a thing in the second trimester. I get it sometimes too, usually in the mornings. Make sure you're eating enough and your blood sugar isn't low.

I had my 20 week scan today, I'm 21 weeks tomos. I was referred afterward and I was really nervous. They made an admin error and there was nothing wrong with the baby. So I just had a concerned look on my face for no reason for 20 minutes. Haha!

Hope everyone else is ok. X

Anyone had period like cramps? Mines have been pretty uncomfortable last few days and my lower back aches too. Midwife not concerned at the moment but can't help worry!

Pip231018 · 05/12/2019 19:45

Yes. I had horrendous cramps. Where even walking hurt. My midwife explained it was broad ligament pain and some women find it really uncomfortable. I was so ratty when I had it, just made me miserable. It was between 16-19 weeks for me. X

BlueberryPoppy123 · 06/12/2019 16:45

Hi everyone... I was briefly in a group before and just followed the links at the end of the pages until I found my way here. I'm 20weeks and 2 days. I've mainly been on the May group as my original due date was in May but now april 22nd. Do you guys have a Facebook page or are you solely on MN? Thanks :)

mintbear · 06/12/2019 17:20

@BlueberryPoppy123
Hello! I recognise your name, I was the same, in the May group but dat moved to April so I watch both x

How's your pregnancy going? Have you had your 20wk scan yet?

BlueberryPoppy123 · 06/12/2019 17:24

@mintbear it's been ok after the nausea went away. I had my 20 week scan today :) everything is looking good. We haven't found out gender. Yours going ok x

mintbear · 06/12/2019 17:42

@BlueberryPoppy123
Glad it all went well.
I'm still having a rough ride of things, managed to find an anti sickness that worked but it's given me the worst constipation so I've stopped taking it and I'm back to being sick. Also I've been diagnosed with gestational diabetes, so there's lots going on and I'm pretty exhausted.

I started pregnancy yoga this week, it was ok but it made me think I'm a bit out of touch with the pregnancy.

BlueberryPoppy123 · 06/12/2019 19:17

Such a shame as doesn't let you enjoy it as much

girlanonymous · 08/12/2019 20:02

Hi all, I've got my 20 week anatomy scan on Friday when I'll be 20+5. I'm really nervous about it, and due to being told I have low PAPP-A it will take place at the fetal medicine unit instead of the ultrasound department. Has anyone had their scan at this unit?

LokiCat · 10/12/2019 07:41

Hi all! I've been keeping a little quiet till I had my 20 week scan. We had it yesterday and everything went really well! I can't believe what a detailed scan it is and how much you can see. Also found out that we'll be having a little girl 😊🥰

I'm 21 weeks today! I can't believe how fast time is flying! I'm sure once the new year is here it'll fly by even more! Started feeling some movements and kicks over the weekend; such a surreal feeling and I'm enjoying them so much 😁

@girlanonymous sorry I haven't had any experience at the fetal medicine unit, but I hope all goes well for you on Friday!

Has anyone made start on any baby purchases? Apart from our travel system order in November I haven't ordered anything else yet, but have a pretty good idea of what I want.

Bookworm83 · 10/12/2019 17:39

@LokiCat the only thing I have bought so far is a nursing chair, but that's because I can already use it to help my back pain. Nothing for the baby yet. I went to Mothercare last week to look at the sales, but got overwhelmed by the amount of stuff I apparently didn't know I needed, and ran away 😕 I don't know much about babies and certainly don't know what I need to buy beyond something to wear and something to sleep in. Still need to do a lot of research!

Sunshine8888 · 10/12/2019 17:59

Congrats @LokiCat! 💖 I had my 20 week scan today and it also went really well. Here is my little girl sucking her thumb! I haven’t bought a thing but feel that I can start looking now 🤗

LokiCat · 10/12/2019 20:18

@Bookworm83 ahh I felt exactly the same when we went into Mothercare! We bought one set and then walked out because it was all too much!
I've bookmarked these two from Baby Centre and Emma's Diary to sort of give me a rough idea of what I might need when we do start properly shopping; it's all so overwhelming!

@Sunshine8888 ahh congrats to you too, so glad your scan went well! What an adorable scan photo, how amazing that you got one of her sucking her thumb 😍
It feels so much better being able to enjoy the pregnancy now and think about buying/planning things.

Thanks for those links @LokiCat

I’m just having a somewhat irrational panic.
I’ve been being monitored by the premature birth clinic as had some treatment on my cervix in March which might mean I’m at increased risk of premature birth/ an incompetent cervix

Up to now everything has seemed fine but today the doc got a second opinion as my cervix was a little open in some ultrasound views but closed in others. They agreed all was ok but started me on progesterone pessaries just to be sure. I’m due for monitoring again on Monday.

For some reason my mind is going crazy with worry tonight I might go into early labour this minute. Every need to pee or ligament pain is making my anxiety skyrocket. I’ve put the first pessary in as I thought maybe that would help me feel I’m doing something proactive but I’m panicking the what I guess is melted pessary is leaking out a little and I had a full on panic that was another sign of labour.
I’m writing this here so I can see how daft it sounds. I do sound proper loony and I promise I’m not usually 😬
