Hey all!

Looks like we filled up the first thread pretty fast! Took me a while to realise why I couldn't send a message.

This is the first thread I've ever created, so hopefully I've done it right.

I'm going to tag the most recent users that commented, so sorry for a lot of the people that I miss. Hopefully everyone will find this.

Have you all been offered the whooping cough vaccine? It hasn’t been mentioned to me but the nhs site suggests we should have it from 16 weeks pregnant?

LokiCat · 11/12/2019 07:28

@CateyA it's understandable to be nervous and worried about what's happening! Sounds like the doctors are on top of things and keeping any eye on you, which is good. Sorry I can't offer much advice as I have no idea about these things, but definitely keep writing here! I'm sure we've all had panicky moments throughout this journey!

@Sunshine8888 at my 16 week midwife appointment, she told me to book in with the GP after I've had my 20 week scan to get the vaccine along with the flu jab. I just need to make the actual appointment..

@Sunshine8888

I had my whooping cough tetanus and diphtheria (I think) yesterday at the antenatal clinic. I had to book it in separately with the reception. Maybe check with your midwife

Sunshine8888 · 11/12/2019 13:08

Ahh ok I had my flu jab at my 12 week scan but nothing has been mentioned about whooping cough

Leag1 · 11/12/2019 19:28

@Sunshine8888 My midwife told me to go to the walk in clinic after my 20 week scan. I did but they close at 12Hmm. I've made an appointment with the nurse at my GP for 10 days time, I'll be almost 26 weeks then

Sunshine8888 · 12/12/2019 18:09

Thanks @Leag1, I’ve been booked in for 2 jan when I’ll be 23 weeks

nikdan123 · 12/12/2019 20:03

I have had my flu jab and whooping cough vaccine at 22 weeks.

I had my midwife appointment today and had plus glucose in my urine. If I have it next time I have to be tested for gestational diabetes Sad hoping it's ok next time.

I feel like I am huge already and still 16 and a half weeks to go lol

ttc19 · 17/12/2019 21:32

Is it possible that admin from Springwatch could put a link to the Facebook group on the "March babies #5" thread as I've just mentioned it on there. Thanks 😊

Dawn99 · 18/12/2019 14:32

Had my 20 week scan this week. All looks good although the nurse said there are no guarantees. Baby's head is already pointed down but I hope no early exits are planned! Confused

Sunshine8888 · 21/12/2019 18:53

How is everyone doing? I’m getting pains in my lower back, hips and ribs now. I’ve bought a pregnancy pillow which is really helping me to stay sleeping on my side at night. I’ve also started researching baby things ready for the January sales!

Leag1 · 24/12/2019 13:10

@Sunshine8888 I get quite bad lower back pain in the evening when I sit down for too long, and my ribs hurt too like I need to rip off my bra. I've still not got any significant bump though but the extra weight must be doing something

Starryeyes1984 · 24/12/2019 14:10

Just stumbled across this group. I'm due in mid April and after what seemed like a never ending bleed making me a hotbed of anxiety and every side effect under the sun things have now settled down! Pregnancy is so much harder than I was expecting! But I'm feeling really good now apart from some indigestion and my skin looks amazing! We've just started buying stuff now mainly cause our local mothercare is selling everything 50% off. My current issue is my boobs, I don't know what to put them in. They grew a lot initially and I couldn't cope with my bras by about week 10 so I just bought a couple of bigger bras but now they are too small as well. I just don't know what to wear by day or at overnight which is comfortable, allows for growth and still gives support and good shape. Any recommendations?

chrissiexxx · 26/12/2019 14:43

Hi All, not been on for a while but my April baby turned out to be a December baby and she is battling in NICU. Waters broke at 21,5 and baby born at 22,2. I had a lot of battles with dr's to save her so I just wanted to share that you know your body, always follow your gut and do what you believe is right without feeling regret.

@CateyA I found I had same issues with my first pregnancy and have learnt a lot about weaken cervix, I would advise to push for a stitch if you can and put yourself on pelvic rest. I would also recommend joining the FB group as it's been a big help to me. It will be stressful but try not to loose faith. Let me know if you have any questions. X

TinyPaws · 26/12/2019 15:38

@chrissiexxx Sorry to hear your baby has arrived so early, I hope she gets stronger.

nikdan123 · 27/12/2019 08:03

Hope shes ok @chrissiexxx

al2616 · 29/12/2019 07:17

How is she doing @chrissiexxx? Thinking of you.

chrissiexxx · 29/12/2019 09:16

Thank you ladies. She is just amazing. These babies are so strong and we're feeling positive about her progress. She is quite stable, thank god. The dr is happy with her breathing but her blood pressure is up and down and she's needed 2 blood transfusions. If she can stop BP medication today, She can start feeding as that will help her put on weight.
My other half was saying today about her delivery and how calm I was. I completely zoned out and this video helped, wanted to share.

Bookworm83 · 03/01/2020 11:33

Hi, how's everyone doing?

I'm feeling very emotional and frustrated today, I know it's probably just hormones but I've been crying all morning because I don't feel "qualified" to be a good mum.

I've been asking people for months to tell me what exactly I need to buy for the baby and I'm not getting any answers. I honestly don't know how to pick a buggy, what nappies or wipes to buy, what clothes (sizes, quantities) I need. Walking into Mothercare left me with a panic attack as I got overwhelmed by the amount of stuff I didn't even know existed.

The first and only thing I've bought for my baby is a few items of clothing I got on Boxing Day sales, including a couple of pairs of really cute shorts. When I showed them to my friend, she said it was a stupid purchase as I'll never use shorts here in Scotland.

So when I ask for help and advice I get nothing, and when I go and buy things I like I get criticised. I honestly feel like the most incapable mother in the world. I want to give up, I'm clearly not good at this.

Has anyone else had similar feelings or is it just me?

I watched a lot of different YouTube videos of peoples buys, must haves, waste of money etc and then make up my own opinions and lists. I found this video above extra helpful x

lannacorrea · 03/01/2020 12:45

@Bookworm83
Don't panic, girl! Being a mom is overwhelming!!
I'm also having my first baby, but luckily I've got a lot of practice since I have 4 nieces and nephews but it's very different when it's our own, anyway.

My advice to you is get organised! Make lists and then tackle each at a time.
I'm trying to attach my buying list for you, but the site doesn't allow me, so if you or anyone else wants the list, leave your email that I can send directly. This list is a compilation of what a few websites say plus what some friends told me to buy and other things that I found that I'd like to have, anyway. Hope it helps.
Everything I buy I put on the spreadsheet, so I can control what I have and what I still need to get.

For clothes, I'm buying a lot of things in TKMaxx and H&M. M&S also has many cute things with good prices.

For stroller, I'd say to you to set a budget first. Within that budget see what's available and compare the models. My option is for one with a pram but that can also attach a car seat and then will carry a toddler until around 3 years old. Just think of what are your needs.

About nappies, I'd say to first decide if you want to do disposable or not.
I'm still attached with the disposable ones, but I'm looking for biodegradables. My sisters always used and loved Pampers. I'm going for Kit and Kik because they're biodegradable and they have a subscription, that allow me not to have many packages stored in the house, since I don't have much space.

Another tip is to do some online shopping other than going to the shops. I went to the shops to see some stuff, came back and bought them online, because it's easier for you to understand your needs, you can check your lists, sizes and try for better prices with coupons.

And you can always ask here what other moms are buying of a specific thing.
Calm down, you can do it!

Bookworm83 · 03/01/2020 12:52

@Kkgg10 thank you, that's a really handy video! I like how honest she is about the stuff she wasted money on. Lots of good advice there.

@lannacorrea I would love to see your list, I I'll PM you with my email address, thank you xx

Dawn99 · 03/01/2020 21:34

I've been feeling similarly @Bookworm83 and its easy to get overwhelmed by the overabundance of choice available! Ur by no means alone in this.
Thanks for the video. I think I need to join the Facebook group. Who do I PM about that?

lannacorrea · 04/01/2020 11:37

@Dawn99
It's me! Send me your email.
xx

CateyA · 07/01/2020 07:20
