Washersaurus · 31/07/2007 21:11

Oh Jem, what a beautiful little girl - congratulations!

My birth story is kind of similar to yours I think...I woke up with period like crampy pains yesterday that lasted on and off all day, but like the true pro that I am I still took DS out for the day , when I got home at around 4pm I had a show, by 5pm decided it was time to go to the hospital.

My waters didn't break beforehand and once the midwife sneakily broke them for me, baby was born 2 pushes (and lots of gas and air) later at 7.42pm. No more stitches either - hoorah!

I have put some pics on my profile now too.

I wonder who WILL be next??

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 31/07/2007 21:32

wash and Jem - your babys are Lovley -
Congratulations to you both!!

Annie75 · 31/07/2007 21:34

Washy - he's sooooo cute! And God, you look good for a woman who has just been in labour - you're making it all sound and look easy

bananabump · 31/07/2007 21:42

Jem and washersaurus, your babies are just beautiful, I can't believe I'm going to have one of those in a few days! (What do you do with it?) lol

Thought I was in labour earlier in asda, started getting painful tightenings every 5 mins, lasting 30 seconds. We hurried up home but when I sat down they eased off. Didn't realise braxtons could be painful, and didn't know whether to be happy or sad that they stopped again! Very confusing. Convinced it won't be long now though.

paulaplumpbottom · 01/08/2007 00:13

I just wanted to say that I will be thinking of you all this month. I am so glad you all made it this far. I have been popping in for the odd peak to see how you have all been getting on. I hope you all know how lucky you are. Good luck bringing all those gorgeous babies into the world.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

saturn · 01/08/2007 07:29

Morning all.

Love the pictures Washy, echo Annie - you don't look like you've just given birth!!

How did it go with the midwife yesterday Annie?

OMG! They are both so unbelieveably scrumptious!
I want one NOW!!
Am very impressed that you both had such smooth deliveries - I think we will all be aiming to emulate you.
Big hugs and congratulations to you both!

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 01/08/2007 08:14

Thank you Paula - i remeber you x hope you are well!

Well is August 1st and im waiting for that loud "pop" !!!

growingbagpuss · 01/08/2007 08:21

OMG - what lovely babies (DS was really ugly when he was born - perhaps it was coz he was so fat, and got all squished on the way out!!)

Washy - I don't believe you had jsut produced that baby - I think you nicked it from someone else - God, I hope I look that good straight after labour!! Very impressed!!

Hopefully, these two lovely labour stories bode well for the rest of us, to have fast, simple labours (albeit without Jem's slightly complicated afterwards!!)...

...so..... how is everyone feelnig... Conkertree? Mum2George?...anything?..... anyone?......

growingbagpuss · 01/08/2007 08:22

Sorry Washy... nikced him from someone else - I can't believe I just called your baby an "it" !!

stretchmarks · 01/08/2007 08:29

ooh such beautiful babies and such wonderful deliveries

So anyone feeling like they're going to be next ? I have had twinges on and off for days but no other signs yet.

bananabump · 01/08/2007 08:39

Good morning folks, no new arrivals today?

I was getting painful tightenings in asda last night (sorry if I already told you this, can't remember, too early) but they came to nothing. Really thought that was it for a second.

The "checking up on you" phonecalls have started in earnest by the way, getting slightly annoying now, everyone says "haven't you had him yet?"

Noooo, he's here sitting next to me, I just couldn't be arsed to phone you. That's the kind of person I am, obviously. Feck off.

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 01/08/2007 08:42

I know what you mean Banana - people comment to me while im waddling along not being able to close my legs propley is " Oh havent you had enough now, cant you speed things along"

WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! no i want ot keep him in here until winter! Bloody idots!

bananabump · 01/08/2007 08:46

And it doesnt matter how often you say you'll call them as soon as it all starts kicking off, they still call just in case! Oh don't get me wrong, I know they care. I'd be moaning even more if no-one cared enough to phone at all, but it IS getting a bit annoying.

Starting to understand how women who go overdue feel, and I'm not even overdue yet! (saturday)

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 01/08/2007 08:48

neither am i, i still have 3 weeks to , but found out when 4 weeks so been Pg forever! I also went 14 days over with ds and REALLY REALLY dont want to do that again!!

Annie75 · 01/08/2007 08:50

Morning everyone. Can't resist logging on first thing these days to see what's happening! Banana, your posts always make me laugh! Think everyone's too scared to start asking me about labour cos they know I'll go into alarming detail about best laid plans and all .

Thanks for asking, Saturn - midwife was lovely, felt like I was really talking to her as an equal and that she understood my concerns about a v medicalised birth. I've basically been explained what their standard 'care' package is for breech hospital deliveries (offered epidural to prevent pushing before being fully dilated, stirrups for pushing and forceps to get the head out - going straight to a c-section if I don't progress) and told that I'd need to specifically request in advance if I wanted to deviate from these (I want to labour on all-fours cos it's the best position for breech, but it confuses the docs ). Feeling clearer about how it all goes, but still confused as there's the weighing up risk with experience, it seems Gonna attempt another ECV tomorrow, which I don't fancy much but if there's even a slim chance... Anyone got any breech qs, I really am the laydee to ask at the moment! Heard Ceola's baby was the right way up all along - they'd misdiagnosed its position!!

Hersetta · 01/08/2007 09:16

Welcome to August ladies - our month at last!! (apart from those queue jumpers Jem and Wash)

Ladies your babies are beautiful and Wash you look utterly glamerous. Will not even attempt to compete. I have longish naturally very curly hair and I'm sure when I step foot in the hospital it will turn into a mad frizz ball reminisant of the hair bear bunch. Will have to just tie it all back and hope for the best.

Haven't heard from Conker for a while have we? I'm her text buddy and I've rec'd nothing as yet.

tokentotty · 01/08/2007 09:23

Nothing here either disappointingly, although was just thinking that MrsShuvel has been radio silent for sometime now no ??? Anyone else missing ?

OP posts:
Ceolas · 01/08/2007 09:37

Gosh, 70 messages before I find the new thread!

Anyway as Annie says, baby is head down after all. Who knows if it was ever breech

Ordered my BPIAB yesterday so here's hoping it all goes well over the next couple of weks and I get the long-awaited home birth.

Congratulations Washersaurus.

GillL · 01/08/2007 09:46

Hello. I had a nice afternoon yesterday. I went for a manicure and pedicure. I was there for 2 hours and it was lovely being pampered.

Congratulations washersaurus. Glad everything was ok. I had the same experience in hospital with dd. She slept all night but a woman who had just come on to the ward at 11pm after having a cs kept calling the midwives all night disturbing the rest of us and then they started inducing another woman at 6am. I hardly slept at all.

Good to hear from you Jem. Glad to hear Hannah is now feeding well. I love that name - it was on my shortlist for a girl.

paula - thanks for popping in. I was thinking about you the other day. Hope everything is going well for you.

I've been getting period type cramps for the last few days. I'm really hoping not to go into labour until after the weekend but I am starting to get really uncomfortable.

Anyone heard from MrsShuvel recently?

Annie75 · 01/08/2007 10:00

Ooh Gill - sounds like it might be kicking off for you! Do the pains feel like v strong period pains or more like normal ones? I'm not quite sure what to expect...

growingbagpuss · 01/08/2007 10:01

Well, I was in the middle of a huge post, when my power went off.... the washing machine kept tripping the RCD - so I am now in the middle of trying to work out what is wrong with it...

...and I went to pick my car up (after I had a small incident with a wall), went to pay, my switch card was by the comp, as I'd just paid for a tax disc on line, my joint account card had expired (only realised AFTER it was declined) - but we are now home in one piece....

..lovely sunny day here, want to be in garden wearing as little as possible, but have support tights on, as after 2 days of not wearing them, my girlie bits feel like they are about to drop out comletely... grrrr..mind you, ater labour they will be even worse so I don't know what I am worrying about!

Pengy · 01/08/2007 10:26

Congratulations again Wash and Jem. Both of your babies are beautiful. Finding today too hot so far, and not helped by having a sore throat, DH is off work with it too but looking set to amuse himself on the playstation! Contemplating a return to bed shortly as sleep was rubbish again last night!

kiteflying · 01/08/2007 10:28

Morning all. And congratulations to our new mums! What gorgeous babies, I am aching to hold my own now. 27 days to go until my due date so I will watch and learn from you all in the meantime...

I have had an upset tummy for the past couple of days but feel fine otherwise, pleased whoever mentioned that this is just because of an upsurge in hormones as I was on the verge of thinking it was early labour...(such a naive first timer).

Big news from us...not as big news as if baby had arrived of course, is that we took a huge gamble and went off to see if we could get a portrait scan done even though yesterday was our 36 weeks milestone and most people say you can't see anything after 27 weeks. Well, I was very lucky, and we have gorgeous photos of LO's little face and hands and a 20 min DVD of her...sleeping. Unfortunately for the first time in weeks her "activity timetable" switched about. Probably because I had slept in with my stomach ache yesterday morning and then went for an hour's swim in the afternoon.

Still it was an utter thrill. I will try and post a picture tomorrow By which time I am sure there will be more photos of "out" babies .

I am so happy for everyone that is having their babies this week. Where is conker??
Sorry everyone that is feeling really uncomfortable and rough though. I can recommend floating in a pool if that's any help?

Babylovesmuffins - thanks for your reply and I would be pleased if we could occasionally check in on how the hypno is going for all of us that are practising. I still either fall asleep or find my thoughts scrabbling around instead of subsiding. And I really really want this to work.
