OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 31/07/2007 14:02

Congratulations wash on Baby George!

itchyncsratchy · 31/07/2007 14:12

yoohoo everyone!
big cheer for washy and george francis, well done! a lovely name. how civilised to give birth at 7 in the evening and how great you're home already. i hope you have a beautiful 'getting to know you time'

can't wait to hear all the details when you're ready. and is george wearing newborn size clothes??

bananabump · 31/07/2007 14:26

Ooh, good question itchy (about the clothes) mine is destined to be about 7.5lb according to previous scans and I've been wondering whether he'll be in newborn clothes or 0-3months size.

Mind you, your estimate was off wasn't it washy? so really baby could be bigger or smaller...

hurry up, boy!

Washersaurus · 31/07/2007 14:31

Sorry dozed off on the sofa, am exhausted after someone elses baby on the ward screamed all night and kept me awake. Obviously George was an angel and slept silently.

We never really had any newborn sized clothes for DS1 so didn't buy any this time either; so George is currently sporting that 'he'll grow into look' in 0-3 mth sized clothes .

MrsBadger · 31/07/2007 14:34

good plan - much better stuff that's too big than stuff that's too small

[smugly considers stacks of 0-3 vests and babygros]
[panics in case she has a whopper who goes straight to 3-6...]

itchyncsratchy · 31/07/2007 14:47

ahh excellent, I had a panic yesterday that we only have 1 pack of newborn vests and a fancy velour number. everything else is 0-3

washy - I'm so impressed that you're home with your little man already. are you feeling good? is everything ok down below?? are you breastfeeding? is your dh home helping?

sorry to poke you for details..! i won't mind at all if you're too busy to answer

but it's just so exciting, very happy for you

Pengy · 31/07/2007 15:01

Congratulations Wash. Looking forward to the photos! I bet we'll all be happy if we have such speedy arrivals too... Hope you get a better night sleep tonight and your DS is excited to meet his brother.

SweetyDarling · 31/07/2007 15:36

The size thing has thrown me as well.
Was told that our button could be a little'n so have not only 0-3 but newborn and tiny newborn clothes ready to go. However the tiny newborn things are bigger than some of the 0-3 things so seems like it's more of a marketing thing than anything else!?

katybird · 31/07/2007 15:58

Congratulations Washersaurus !! And hello George Francis. I'm so impressed that you're back on MN already, looking forward to more details when you're ready.

I felt rubbish this morning, had a really bad night's sleep. I think he may have descended a bit because I woke up at 1am desperate for the loo (apologies for TMI) and felt like there wasn't enough room for the baby and my bowels! Lovely. Feel better now though and Washer's news has cheered me right up.

We're on an unofficial sex ban in our house too, I just don't have the urge at all.

There doesn't seem to be any consistency in sizing does there? We've packed a baby outfit in newborn, 0-3 and 3-6 in the hospital bag because we haven't got a clue how big/small he'll be. Although judging by the way he's booting me at the moment I think he'll be on the large size!

Hersetta · 31/07/2007 16:02

Woohooo - we'vw got number two !!

Congratulations wash and welcome to George. Sounds like a great fast labour so hope it all went as well as it sounds. We want all the details when you have a mo!

I'm working at home today although am being spectacularly unproductive. The sofa seems to be made of superglue and I can barely drag myself off it. Evens out I suppose - worked like a demon in the office yesterday so doing bugger all today seems a fair trade. DH has pointed out that since I've been PG I've not had a single day off sick (pregnancy related or otherwise) so they owe me a couple of easy days.

I have my 36 week scan on Thursday to see if the baby is still growing OK - she is if my increased girth is anything to go by and to see if she is still breech. The kicks are definitely different lately so it woundn't surprise me if she has turned - but I'm really not sure. Baby is getting a lot of hiccups at the moment - usually every night and these are felt high up so I don't know if the round lump I am feeling up by my waist is a head or a bum. Time will tell I suppose.

So, who's next ladies - please form an orderly queue.

katybird · 31/07/2007 16:12

Working from home is a great idea Hersetta! V impressed you've not taken time off, your dh is right, get those feet up!

Good luck with the scan, fingers crossed that your LO has turned but there's still lots of time. The mws couldn't tell the difference between my LO's bum and head so hopefully that's what you're feeling!

MMooMar · 31/07/2007 16:28

Hi Ladies ,

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

katybird · 31/07/2007 16:35

Thanks MMooMar! Good luck with all the September babies too, if things carry on at this rate some of you will pop before we do .

growingbagpuss · 31/07/2007 16:45

I think one a day would be rather fun...... I'd like to politely put myself forward as the next candidate....

Not that anything appears to be happening, its just when I drove t the shops just now I could barely get my feet in the right places, and I have to drive at some ridiculous aangle as the bump is too solid....

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 31/07/2007 17:11

One a day sounds - good to me, will help keep me focused for the next few weeks! - who is due next , conkertree and babymad and bagpuss are within this week i tihnk!

Thnk you September ladies!!!! Hopefully none of use will be there!!!!

thebigSea · 31/07/2007 17:22

I'm on the September thread and just wanted to wish you all the best, hopefully we won't be joining you, but who knows?

saturn · 31/07/2007 17:25

Congratulations Washer, can't believe you are home already!!

growingbagpuss · 31/07/2007 17:56

Sadly Pink, I'm not up until mon/ tuesday according to who's dates you go by.... but i'm happy to queue jump!

Spoke to Mum today - who accepts that she may be neeed to turn round and head in the opposite direction if I go into labour on Friday!1 Hurrah

Annie75 · 31/07/2007 18:06

Oh Washy, congratulations . A lovely name and sounds like a really good labour. Have you written up your birth or are you too knackered? Am so impressed you've posted already - it's v heartening to hear about babies being born!

Go and get some well-earned sleep and have a glass of vino for us! x

jem1969 · 31/07/2007 18:36

Tons of Congratulations Wash - welcome to the club
My internet has been up the creek so I will now make my official post too (and we have only just decided on a name...)!
Hannah Gwendolyn - born 20th July at 6lbs and half an ounce and 47cm long.
She was 4 weeks early but remarkably perfect.
Quick summary of labour:
Think had a 'show' on Wednesday and they examined me and said was 1cm dilated but could be weeks away and NCT teacher in the evening said that too.
friday morning- bad stomach ache. Had been told you just know when your contractions have started- well I didn't at all! DH at work and stomach was really painful so bit worried. Sister drove me to hospital. Didn't take a bag or anything.
Put on a monitor and all OK. Abut 1pm they examined me and I was 6cm dilated but waters not broken.
To cut to the chase, they broke my waters at 5.30ish, 10 mins later was fully dilated-agony then she was born an hour later! All quite quick really and just gas and air (although I nearly had a epidural after they broke my waters and said it could be another 3 hours of mind blowingly painful contractions). Some minor stitches
Was in hospital for 6 days as she wouldn't feed and therefore wouldn't poo and all the doctors were getting a bit stressed. She was also jaundiced. A bit of light therapy and some formula and she started pooing for england..
Off the formula now and feeding fine-ish. A couple of bad nights but last night much better. Went out today for the first time and apart from Mum being a bit weepy all doing fine.
Will try and upload piccies
Good luck everyone!

katybird · 31/07/2007 18:56

Congrats again Jem! Beautiful name, can't wait to see the pics. Glad everything went ok despite the stay in hospital, and you're all home and happy now.

itchyncsratchy · 31/07/2007 19:05

Hi Jem and baby Hannah Gwendolyn, love the names.
Poor you having a long stay in hospital, did you manage to rest? Hannah doesn't look 4 weeks early at all, she looks absolutely perfect.

I can see a benefit of being one of the last to pop will be having you all to ask for advice..!

MrsBadger · 31/07/2007 19:18

that is one cute baby, Jem - good name too.

mum2george · 31/07/2007 19:26

OMG Jem, she is gorgeous . She looks like a perfect little doll. Hope I get one that lovely, and soon!

Sorry to hear about your feeding problems. Hope you've got some proper support now you're at home.

As for everyone forming an orderly queue, the ones in line for this week are:

conkertree - 1st August - surprise
mum2george 1st August -surprise
louloubelli - 2nd August - surprise
Babymad - 3rd August - surprise
AngelH - 3rd August - Girl
bresha - 4th August - boy
bananabump - 4th August - boy
Stretchmarks - 4th August - boy

So please form the queue behind me and Conkertree, I don't want to be left behind!

Annie75 · 31/07/2007 19:40

She's so pretty! Oh, it's lovely to see these babies coming. Am feeling rather gloomy about this whole silly breech thing (wish I didn't have to make choices about labour and risks) but seeing pics of gorgeous, shiney babies puts it into perspective
