bananabump · 18/08/2007 13:08

Hooray! At last! GBP you did so well, gosh 9lb 8.5oz on only tens? congrats! We want pics!!

stretchmarks congrats on baby alex, I had a 2nd degree tear too, you have my sympathies! but 9 days on it's much less sore (I've even been brave and had a look at it, not as bad as I imagined it would be!) but accept all painkillers, be careful turning over in bed/sitting down etc and witchhazel on a pad can help, although to be fair I waited until the cut felt "closed" as I was too scared of it stinging! (it didn't)

TT, I'm so excited for you, I know you'll be fine, just remember all your birthing techniques and remember it'll all be over soon and baby will be here! Best of luck.

And now for some more good news... MIL HAS FINALLY LEFT THE BUILDING! I finally have my house back, I'm so happy.

In other news, I think there's something majorly wrong with me. I've been irrationally horny since the birth.

angie0201 · 18/08/2007 22:03

Wow i'm so excited reading all the babies that have arrived already, can't wait to be next! i'm due on th 16th but no show yet i thought maybe would be quicker with 2nd child. Good luck to everyone else who are still waiting for the big day, and congrates to everyone who are already holding their bundles of joy

boobooma · 18/08/2007 22:04

Well done bagpuss, great to hear of another homebirth and with a 9lb+ baby, great stuff. (My midwife thinks this one will be bigger than ds who was 8lb 15.)

Congratulations stretchmarks. Good luck TT.

tokentotty · 18/08/2007 22:32

TT [sock] thought you would have been in the hospital!

Good Luck!!!!!!!

Annie75 · 19/08/2007 10:28

Oh good luck, TT. It does hurt - but you'll get through it and you'll have a lovely baby at the end which honestly does make it worthwhile. Er, not that you'll be reading this. But we're thinking of you!

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 19/08/2007 10:32

Must say you do forget the pain, my ds is nearly 5 and i know it hurts but i have forgotten HOW MUCH!

TT good luck!!

Pengy · 19/08/2007 17:49

GBP Evie looks so cute and grown up compared to some of the little babies I've seen recently! Banana just checked out your pictures of James and he's adorable too! You must be over the moon.

Wonder how TT's getting on, probably had her LO by now, let's hope we hear soon!

Getting fed up and hoping my LO makes an appearance soon even though not yet overdue...

Trinaj · 19/08/2007 19:16

Sorry for long pause between last post. Been a stressful week.
Thought I'd let you in on the story of ds2's birth. - long rambling post!
Had contractions on and off all day, peaking at lunchtime to about 4 mins apart, then promptly dropped off, stayed regular about every 6 mins all afternoon then began to build again during the eve, until 12ish when they were 2-3 mins apart. Rang labour ward - told me to wait longer - got all emotional threw phone accross kitchen , then contractions stopped!
Sent dh back to bed, tried to rest while they gradually came back.
Finally fell asleep for half hour when at 2.30am water broke with an horrendous pop . Contractions suddenly appeared from no-where! Went into hospital.
Arrived about 3am - 6cms dilated. Told I was unlikely to be able to use the water pool, by then didn't care, just wanted drugs!!!!
Had an epidural, just as I decided I wanted to push!
Told I wasn't quite ready to push, so glad for epidural.
8am ready to push, Alfie born 10 mins later!
Very chuffed and not at all disappointed about not sticking to plan!
Shall post on postnatal thread about story since.

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 20/08/2007 09:28

Congratualtions trinaj and growingbagpuss- great picture. Both seem to have had good short pushing stages - maybe a bit of a shock to the system but i think i'd definately prefer that to the three hours i had.

so are we nearly half way there with the babies?

conkertree · 20/08/2007 09:33

posts crossed - wow is that all that still have to pop? after a slow start we've fairly speeded up.

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 20/08/2007 09:34

think we are conker but there seems to be loads of people on the stats that dont post, maybe we should do a NEW one?

JSer · 20/08/2007 09:51

Morning all. I have been busy enjoying my mat leave and also my internet broke last week. I can't believe how many babies have come inthe last few days. Congratulations to everyone!!

My due date was yesterday. No sign of anything yet tho, just lots of general aches and pains. There won't be many of us left on here soon!

Off to make curtains for LO's room and do some more cleaning...

Ceolas · 20/08/2007 09:52

Good to see my name on that list!

We had a trial run with the inflatable birth pool on Saturday. Just as well, as the tap adaptor didn't fit, and DH had to make a trip to the DIY shop.

Of course I had to try it out and my god, it was bliss. Hope it's as effective on the day

Waiting in today for my pram to be delivered. Car seat arrived on Saturday. After that, think we're sorted.

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 20/08/2007 09:56

JSer · 20/08/2007 10:04

btw i've been having terrible pain in my right shoulder (On my back around the shoulder blade). Has anyone else had anythign like this? It started about 2 days ago and i didn't do anything to hurt it so am wondering if it's pregnancy-related...or is it just a coincidence and too easy to blame everything on pg!!

Pengy · 20/08/2007 10:50

How are you feeling apart from the pain Jser? Shoulder blade pain can sometimes be referred from your liver or gall bladder or it could be coming from your lungs too. May pay to get your GP to check you out...

Thoroughly fed up today, wanting LO out but no signs yet. My friend's waters broke this morning and so wishing it was me

growingbagpuss · 20/08/2007 11:13

where's the stats list for arrivals? Im confused!!

one handed typing. babe feeding for england (ouch), but sleeping nicely too... hang on ,just put her down a sec'.... washing mountain growing well.... puke etc...... and its raining......

no news from TT? hope she hasn't hd a mammoth labour!!...

baby smells off o do the bottom...

loler · 20/08/2007 11:25

Will have to remember to post those expecting next week as hopefully you won't be around to do it pink!

After seeing second part of Trina's post I'm getting very worried about the reality of having 3 children (hers are exactly the same ages as mine!) Hoping to go on the postnatal thread and find it was a little bump and things are running smoothly now!

Spent yesterday ironing name labels onto DDs school uniform (she starts this time too - think thats as scary for me as giving birth!). Also worrying about being able to walk her upto school - can't have a CS as won't have enough time to recover so will give me something to push for!

Never heard of shoulder pain related to pg but as all your ligaments go soft and stretchy it could be that.
