Omg challenge, that's disgraceful. What are they thinking?!

My husband told me the other day that a colleague said he had a car seat we could buy. He went on to describe it and said the cover had a rip in it. Like, why the feck would I want a car seat with a rip in it?
I know the guy and he is a bit of a shambles so i just know it will be manky too.

Anyhoo, we have a car seat so it's a no anyway!

I guess the sellers had gone nose blind as well as blind blind challenge. 🤢

I have a feeling any price apart from free was unreasonable after seeing it....

Sigh @challengeyourreality it's still so awkward saying no that's thigh isn't it?

Finally made a start on my bag - yay!

challengeyourreality · 21/07/2019 17:25

@IVEgottheDECAF they wanted 200 for it... I imagine they will need to rethink that!
@kyles101 I said 'I won't buy just now, I'll message in an hour after I discuss at home'. Couldn't bring myself to say no on the spot.
@Whisky2014 that's why I was reticent to ask extended friend group/acquantancies if they had anything!

Stroan · 21/07/2019 17:32

@challengeyourreality that's so grim! did they really have no concept of how gross that is?

Did anyone hear anything about Maternity Allowance yet? I have been waiting four weeks so far. Got a text message of acknowledgment but nothing since...

Report
Whisky2014 · 21/07/2019 17:58

I think others have had to chase up after not hearing for 6 weeks. I only sent mine off a week or so ago and got the txt saying it won't take longer than 6 weeks. We shall see!

challenge i hope it was an originally very expensive pram for £200!

I sold my pram with carseat, carrycot, matching bag and footmuff for £250 after dc4 out grew it around 12 months. It was nearly immaculate

It sounds like it could only have been worth £200 if there was crack cocaine stuffed in the piss-soaked upholstery tbh.

I'm not adverse to getting stuff secondhand but you assume people have eyes and noses and a bit of common sense they can apply before advertising stuff online!

I suppose this is why its a good idea to always go and see things in person if you can!

@Exitstrategist I got the confirmation text acknowledging receipt straight away and then a confirmation letter at exactly 6 weeks after my application! I now have to box Rick a few of the same points again and send that back (at a glance it seems like once I know what date I'm finishing / finished work or baby has been born) which is a bit frustrating as I'd already stipulated my preferred maternity allowance start date but hey ho.

Hope the rest of you receive a response on or before the 6 weeks too!!

More contractions today and so much lightening crotch / fanny daggers. My c section date is basically 4 weeks away which on the one hand feels far too soon and on the hand, the thought of going through 4 more weeks of contractions etc feels like too much to cope with right now!!!!

Thank you all! Another few weeks wait at least!

Mat Allowance: no letter, no text, no payslips and sent mid June 🤷🏻‍♀️

Report
Stroan · 21/07/2019 22:58

@happydays00 you are an absolute trooper for coping with that. I hope it eases off and you get an easier time for at least some of the next 4 weeks.

I've had three cold showers today and it's not even that hot here. Just can't seem to ever cool down. Anyone else?

@moraxella please say you have air con?

I've just read some articles suggesting we are getting a 6 week heatwave throughout august. I've been googling air con units for hire.

Where are you moraxella?!

Report
Megan2018 · 22/07/2019 06:39

Fortunately the heat doesn’t seem to impact on me much, just on my feet! Might have to find some alternative footwear this week as everything is just too tight.

I'm usually a cold person, always wear pj's to bed, long ones at that! But since about week 30 I've been like a little oven! I know it's been a bit warm but even so our front room is quite cool and I've still been overheating! The next few days are meant to be extremely hot here (South East) so I'm not planning on going far!

Does anyone know what the issue is with hot tubs in pregnancy? We have a lay z spa so I can turn the temp down/up to something reasonable if it's an issue with the temperature. But I wasn't sure why you can't go in them... will have a google. Would be quite nice to sit in there instead of sweating indoors 😂

Report
Stroan · 22/07/2019 06:49

@florencenotflo I think its the temperature so if you can turn it down it shouldn't be an issue.
