Shitty night sleep here too but kinda expected that. Also discovered that drinking lemonade all night at my leaving do was a bad idea as my bladder cannot hold the fizzy drink. Must of been up about 6 times for a wee last night!
At work today, then I'm down to just 7 days left. I'm very ready to be on mat leave now!

Whisky2014 · 20/07/2019 12:18

Ha I had alot of Lucozade last night, I don't normally drink fizzy drinks but I thought o was coming down with something and well, Lucozade helps. Anyhoo I went to bed at 11pm woke up thinking it must be 5am or something...no it was 12! Then had crap sleep cause the rain was so hard and kept waking me up. My husband for some reason was also wide awake and took himself and the dog downstairs at like 3am. I woke at 4am wide awake and we both had a cup of tea and chatted for ages then j went back to sleep 7am to about 9.30am

I feel so bad for it.

Boodles101 I have 10 days left and I'm so jealous of your 7! My pelvis is starting to hurt, my arms feel like theyve come out of their sockets and the lack of sleep just makes me feel Ill. Not coping!

Dipsy77 · 20/07/2019 14:56

I have a hv home visit for beginning of August not a fan of them at all the letter says an hour and a half appointment I don't think so they definitely won't me here that long !Smile

Whisky2014 · 20/07/2019 14:59

Yeh I have one too in 3 weeks time. I also got a leaflet for all the visits they do after baby arrives right up until they're 5. Fuck that I'm not up for that at all.

Whisky2014 · 20/07/2019 15:23

Am I supposed to wash all clothes and sheets before using?

boodles101 · 20/07/2019 15:47

whiskey I never had any visits after the newborn checks. In my area they send a letter for an 8-10 month review and then again at 2.5y but both are optional. Never had a HV visit me after about 10days old!

happydays00 · 20/07/2019 15:53

Ooh @Whisky2014 what was in the baby box? We don't get one here so am intrigued.

I would decline an antenatal HV visit. I'm afraid I entirely did not see the point in my HV last time (pre or post birth) and won't be rushing for any checks this time round either. Not a hope in hell I'd be seeing one this time if this was number 5 @IVEgottheDECAF !

Awful nights sleep here too, felt like I rolled over 900 times. Feeling quite poorly today and generally just run down. Potentially last 2 weeks of work next week so 8 days and counting 😳

Was on the monitor for 2 hours yesterday for the reduced movements, naturally baby was going mad in there but I couldn't feel them and heart rate not doing enough accelerations for them. That's the third time in two weeks they've not been happy with the heart rate so I'm trying to remain positive about the fact that everything is ok and they're just trying to get a perfect reading on the CTG but I don't feel particularly great about it. Will mention to the consultant when I see her next week. Also not reassured by the amount of contractions the monitor was picking up but again, no one seemed hugely concerned about it so trying not to be either!!

happydays00 · 20/07/2019 15:54

@Whisky2014 re washing all the clothes and sheets, I'll be honest: I don't. I know a lot of people don't but I didn't last time and won't be this time either.

Megan2018 · 20/07/2019 16:08

@Whisky2014
I’ve washed most things but not everything, I’m quite sadly enjoying seeing it all on the line though Blush

I’ve washed all the second hand stuff as it has been in storage a long time, both clothes, bedding and toys just because although it was clean it didn’t smell fresh.
The new things, I’ve washed the newborn, 1 month and 0-3 so it is soft. Probably won’t bother after that.

DustyDoorframes · 20/07/2019 16:17

happydays that all sounds very stressful! Is your consultant a good one for answering questions?
Re washing new clothes etc- I wash up to about 12-18 month. They use some pretty nasty stuff in garment processing. That said, we all live in the world and if you ever walk along a main road with a pushchair (I do often...), or sit in the car in traffic, the fumes from cars are going to be much more impactful so not sure why I worry about garment processing!

Stroan · 20/07/2019 16:34

I didn't mind the later development checks from the HV. It was good to know that she was developing in line with expectations and they also got us a physio referral when she needed it. The weekly visits trying to get me to stop BFing I could have done without...

@Whisky2014 how much notice did you get that the box was being delivered? I got a text this week to say that they would be back in touch soon to arrange delivery.

I washed all the vests and babygrows, along with our old muslins. Haven't done the bigger clothes yet but probably will once on mat leave.

3 work days to go! I think I'll be limping over the finish line on Wednesday!

Stroan · 20/07/2019 16:35

@happydays00 that sounds very hard and stressful. When is your next appointment? I find it all much more relaxing when I know I'm seeing someone soon.

ColdCottage · 20/07/2019 17:10

Anyone here tested for Group B Strep?

gbss.org.uk/info-support/pregnancy-and-birth/what-is-group-b-strep/

Seems strange nhs don't test for it

Stroan · 20/07/2019 17:47

@coldcottage I was tested positive in my last pregnancy so automatically treated as though I have it this time.

It's a really difficult one but I do understand why the NHS don't test as standard because it comes and goes - it could miss people who DO have it birth while flagging people who don't. Monitoring after birth is just as important.

All that said, I would probably test privately for peace of mind. However, it led to a much more medicalised birth than I wanted, and my induction had to be sped up. I didn't have it at the time of giving birth.

Megan2018 · 20/07/2019 17:53

I’m not bothering with Group B strep test, not convinced it is necessary. Can see an argument for both sides but have decided against.

Dipsy77 · 20/07/2019 18:34

If I don't have to have a cesarean I'm having the strep b test I know someone that passed it onto her little boy so for piece of mind I'm going to do it, id never heard of it until it happened to her it is extremely rare

IVEgottheDECAF · 20/07/2019 18:36

I am so fucking uncomfortable today. Back is really achey. Had a hot bath and paracetamol but its not made much difference. Roll on bedtime.

Whisky2014 · 20/07/2019 19:42

@stroan i got the txt from baby box on the 9th saying it would be delivered by parcel force in the next few weeks. I then got a txt from parcel force with a 2 day window of 18th or 19th. They attempted delivery on 18th but I was out so they put it to the village post office.

So not long! It's pretty big actually!

ColdCottage · 20/07/2019 20:36

Thanks @Stroan interesting.

ColdCottage · 20/07/2019 20:38

@Whisky2014 I did all the online stuff for the baby box back in Jan but was waiting for a local place to open up to collect. Now it seems only way do get it is to pay the £20 "delivery" charge. Not sure it's worth it. Would be interested to see what you think/pics

Stroan · 20/07/2019 20:43

@coldcottage that's a bit strange, there's no delivery charge here. Are you in Scotland?

Whisky2014 · 20/07/2019 20:44

@coldcottage what do you mean online stuff? I just had to fill in a form the midwife gave me at my 20 week appointment and then waited to hear from the team when thr hox would be delivered. I didn't have to pay a delivery fee or anything :/
Ok hang on I'll go take some photos.

I wasn't expecting things like the sling, play mat, changing mat, ear thermometer etc etc. It's honestly everything you need to get started and such a good thing the Scottish government have done. Mattress is inside box and you get sheets for that too.

IVEgottheDECAF · 20/07/2019 21:06

And you get all that free? In scotland do you still have the sure start grant for first time (i think low income only) parents as well?
