I did it (slightly adjusted the wording - is it OK?)!!! Now all we've got to do is a link from the old one to the new one - I'll leave that to somebody a bit more competent!

By the way, I just go laalalaalalaaa when you guys talk about epidurals/pain relief etc. I really didn't enjoy having one when I had DS but I had to as they had put me on a drip and all sorts and I had lots of complications. Ended up with even more severe migraines for years afterwards too. Didn't have one with DD1 and much preferred the whole experience. If I can get away with it this time, I'm going to try and avoid having one (obviously can't predict how things will go!). Gas & Air me up all the way!!!

Have a good time MrsFish. I'm off tomorrow as well, so I'll see you all in a week. I'm taking an 'absolute essentials' hospital bag with me on holiday, just in case - but I sincerely hope I won't need it! I'm also taking the digital camera that my office bought me as a leaving gift - they said I had to have one so I could send them photos of the baby. How sweet is that!! Now I've just got to work out how to use it .

Dal, I got one of your bikini trimmers today, so I'll see how I get on with it while I'm on holiday. Any terrible accidents, I'm blaming you .

Hope everyone has a good week

Had a friend start reeling off what I might need to take with me if I'm going into hospital (and looking at that list that Rosie2404 gave too) I'm thinking I can't be bothered going into hospital now, all that stuff to take!! What a joke!!

Dressing gown/slippers/towels etc, crikey!!

But then again I might only be in for a few hours eh?!

Got to go throguh this all with MW now, if I've got to take all but the kitchen sink with me I'm not going to bother! plsbh

Now then, what's this crap on telly? Where's 8 out of 10 cats? What a load of balls LOL

Now I'll have to actually talk to DH LOL

What's all this about no-one here getting any? LOL I'm getting some when I feel up to being on my knees (Just about the only position I can handle with the SPD) And when I don't have that energy am still getting some with my little buzzy friend (who needs to SEE where it's going?!! LOL)

Anywho, off for now, hope you all have a lovely weekend and let's all cross our finger's for some better weather (blooming weather forecast, not exactly what I want to hear for our weekend together, Plsbh)

Have a good one ladies

Morning all, finally out of hospital and lying around at home, hurrah! It was a HORRIBLE experience, I am not happy at the thought of giving birth in the same place in 2 months' time. My brother suggested I take the Eurostar to France or Belgium and check into a private clinic there... dream on.
For hospital bag update: the shower rooms will not be clean, so if you are going to be on your feet, take flip-flops and an antiseptic spray. Commodes are not cleaned enough (the ones I had smelt of s**t and I was sharing a ward with 2 old ladies with infections), you MUST take antiseptic wipes. Ignore any staff grumbles about bringing in fruit/veg and 'littering' the tables with them - the staff expect you to be fed by your LOs and NHS food will only worsten your bunged-upness. Take a dark towel and a flannel... thus endeth the debrief.
Enjoy holidays!

Report
potoroo · 28/07/2007 09:19

Ah yes - dark towel.

Also, our hospital sent us a list that included 2 margerine containers to which we all went

Turns out they are for topping and tailing baby because they don't provide baby baths in the rooms (although a nurse or someone will come around with a bath-on-wheels to demonstrate how to bath LO).

I guess it all depends on how long you are going to stay in.... you can always bring just the basics and get DP/DH or other helpers to bring in fresh supplies.

Sorry about this - I'm a bit upset.

Some insensitive cow has just walked past me in the park and said loudly to her boyfriend 'I'm not as fat as that am I?'

I had been under the impression that since the rest of my body had stayed pretty much the same size and I just have a large bump (31 weeks tomorrow) that it would be obvious that it's a pregnant belly, not a cake-inflicted one. Clearly not. If people are going to say such nasty things, they could at least wait til I'm out of earshot.

Hi All,

Emj23....f`em,just think to yourself that in a few weeks time you will be snuggling up with a beautiful LO and she will still be a rude, thick cow who is probably too self centered to even consider putting her body through what you are doing to create a beautiful little bubba.Least you know who will have a sad life!

Edie ,yes, yes ,yes! My LO has been doing it for weeks now and it kills,I actually feel it slide off the bottom rib and it like "blips" if you know what I mean.

Toadstool glad you are out and in the comfort of your own home.Good idea on the wipes by the way. Will have to pick some up,I have already brought some of that rub in gel stuff that kills germs, got this thing about door handles in places like hospitals.

Potoroo,When I was in last time they gave us little round tubs to top and tail with.Seems pretty grime when half the hospitals cant stretch to that though.Nothing on my list about marg tubs so I imagine they still supply them...oh the luxury!

Have a great weekend all.

Afternoon ladies. Another weekend already. Gee, these weeks are whizzing by!

Has anyone else got an energy spurt at the moment? I'm flying around all over the place, I can't keep still. Yesterday I went to the hospital three times. Once in the morning for an appt, then in the afternoon for work, I didn't finish my work by the time I had to leave to come home because my sil and nephews were coming to tea (on hols from dubai, so didn't want to miss them), and then back to the hospital to finish my work. Got home about 9pm and went to bed knackered. Today I've made a desk, and am now thinking about cutting the grass. Just having a little relax before I do that. So where's this energy coming from? Part of the nesting thing do you think?

Great list Rosie. The only thing I'd say, is if you're planning to stay in for more than a few days, eg if having a section, definately take more than 20 breast pads. Twenty is only enough for 10 changes, and I found that when my milk came in, at about day 3/4, I was changing them every few hours. I had loads and loads, and still ran out. I remember in the middle of the night I was in desparate need for them (all the staff were busy elsewhere) and all I could do was rip a maternity towel in half and stuff that in my bra, until I stopped leaking. Mind you, I am particularly leaky, not everyone is the same. Antiseptic wipes and flip flops are a good idea too. If your hospital uses shared bays/wards don't expect to be allowed to keep your bag with you. At my hosp you are asked to unpack straight away and your dp has to take it back to the car. If I think of anything else, I'll add.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Forgot to say emj, I thought mmoomar's advice was spot on. Fck em. What a stupid judgemental cow. If I see her, I'll give her a kickin' for you. Joking aside, did you notice the big clue what she is really like? She had to ask someone what she was like, she seeks reassurance. So not only a stupid judgemental cow, but an insecure stupid judgemental cow. You're going to shrink in a few weeks time, she's probably insecure for life. Fck her.

loobybump - my first engaged at 32 wks and wasn't born until 40 so doesn't neccessarily mean an early arrival! Don't want you to get your hopes up and then have to wait!

Toadstool - glad you're home - great tip about the antiseptic wipes and i agree i found the food awful and not nearly enough if your breastfeeding - so i'll be taking snacks. I took wipes for lo the first time and was told to send them home as they only recommend you use cotton wool on newborns - i was shocked how much cotton wool i got through and decided the large cosmetic style pads were best.

Emj - What a horrible thing to say - i had a simular experience after my son was born when some teens in a car shouted 'lose some weight you fat bitch'! My DS was about 3 wks old at the time but wasn't with me! I just burst into tears if they'd been in earshot i'd definately have shouted i've just had a baby you prick!

Hope everyone is doing ok - i hosted an ann summers party last night so feeling very tired today! Also lots of twinges and crampy feelings which i think is braxton hicks - never really had them last time but i don't tend to get tightenings just period type pains that come and go.

Got my growth scan on tues and before that DP's birthday so i need to get baking! DS wants to help but i may take the easy route and do it after he's in bed! xx

Hello all - my, you've been busy!!!!

loobybump - my DH commented the other day that he loves me being pg but that he can't wait for me to have this lo so he can 'fuck' me properly - I say!!! [lush] We're having to stick to doggy too due to my SPD and its the only position that is reasonably comfortable! We've not been as active as usual but I expected that and it doesn't really bother me right now. Have informed DH that his services may be needed if I go overdue!

dal21 - I sooo empathise on the comments! I am sooo sick of people asking if I've got twins in here and saying I'll probably have her early. In fact, I'm beginning to believe them (I am really big tbh) and I've started buying nappies etc. THREE people commented yesterday that my bump had dropped - should I go to the mw do you think? DH thinks I'm being paranoid!

amyclaramum - hope you have a good holiday and that lo turns soon. Get lots of rest in hun! I have good and bad memories of the waiting room from previous experiences and have seen both sides - so sorry you had to go through that though...

emj23 - I completely agree with the others - fuck her!!! Sorry, I don't usually swear but frankly that sort of behaviour is just uncalled for. The way I've been lately, I reckon I would have given her an earful there and then! I've been getting leg cramps too, aren't they awful! Hope lo turns soon!

kyala - hope you enjoy your time alone with DP. Have you got any films you both fancy watching? My DC's go away with their dad w/c 6th August for a whole week so we've got a week to ourselves - shame DH is working but I reckon I could do with the time off and we've still got the evenings!

MrsMar - If I recall correctly, I'm sure I was 'active' again after about 4 weeks with DS and DD1 (I tend to block out all memories of XH tbh so that could be wrong!). Hows your oedema now? I'm in agony with mine and I'm thinking of going up to the day assessment unit - haven't been able to wear my rings for weeks now and my legs look like tree trunks! When's your birthday then?

pennypops - I'm so envious of you doing all your baby clothes washing, I'm hoping to do mine in the next few weeks, probably when the kids are away...

HIWBB - what lovely neighbours you have! Couldn't you dish the dinner into a couple of tupperware bowls and keep them for tomorrow or something? They're not to know you didn't eat it tonight!

toadstool - so glad you're home! As far as hospital food goes, I distinctly remember ordering dominoes pizza when I had DS as I was so sick of the food. Needless to say, all the ladies on my ward were very jealous lol!

canadianmum - Grrrr at your MIL!!!!! It's YOUR house and YOUR baby and she needs to get off her backside and help you, not sit around critisising you while she drinks tea!! Let me at 'er!!!

MrsFish - have a great holiday!

Chattyhan - Hope the Ann Summers thing went well? I've also been getting all sorts of cramps and bh's. I've had a throbbing pain right in my groin area since yesterday now and I'm not sure if its something serious or not. LO is active so I'm sure its nothing... Happy birthday to your DP! Hope all goes well with your growth scan!

kindi - glad you've got some energy, fancy sending some my way, lol?

ediemcredie - yes, I've had a few feet in my ribs and its funny at first but then downright painful!!

LO was awake all morning and I told DS as he wanted a feel. Of course, she stopped moving when he put his hand on my tummy so I told him to say something so she could tell its him. He said 'hellloooo' and she kicked him!!!

I'm working on my hospital bag and have bought a load of travel size toiletries for it (thanks for the list btw). I also picked up a few bounty packs from town in the week - boots and asda. I wouldn't mind but they're identical lol! Just the Lloyds chemist one to go...

Sorry, didn't realise how much I'd typed! Hello to everybody else, hope you're well? My ankles are sore so I'd better go to bed...

Have a great weekend all! (((((((hugs)))))))

Didn't really explain, I went over by 8 days with both mine so I'm purposefully preparing myself for going over again so I don't get all anxious etc. These peoples comments really aren't helping me - I'm beginning to wonder if I really will have this one early - DS keeps reminding me it is different sperm after all!!

Hi everyone,

Haven't had time to catch up with all that's been going on. Been in hospital from Weds to Sat with threatened early labour. Contractions 2 mins apart for a few hours at a time.

Not pleasant, but staff were absolutely wonderful - felt really safe & looked after.

Anyhow, bubba has had steroids, and I have stopped the Nifedipine that prevents the contractions. Now it is just wait and see if baby stays put or if I go back into early labour over the next few weeks.

Hope you are all well,

Louise (33+3)

lou - sorry to hear you have been in hospital. But also glad to hear that you were well taken care of and had the steroids just in case. I had my boys at 32+5 and although they were in SCBU for 4 weeks they are now as healthy and bright as can be (despite their genes ). I hope your bubba can hold off for a few more weeks though....

Managed to hurt my neck trying to open a jar of gherkins. Just when my bump was getting much less sore - oh well, seems to be one thing or the other here. Watch out for those gherkins ladies!

Mind you, I was at the dentist the other day and he said 'Are you taking any medication?' then 'Could you be pregnant?'

I am the size of a house and was wearing a shirt that said 'Pregnant and Proud' so I was a bit speechless...

Hi everyone - hope you had good weekends!

We went to our second sesh of hypnobirthing. Really fab and have made friends with a few of the couples there, so fingers crossed we'll stay in touch. Have to practise the breathing and relaxation techniques - am confident it will help!

EmJ - some people are so unbelievably rude aren't they. I know it is easier said than done, but you just have to ignore them really.

MrsF - go on then - amuse away, what did you do? this is going to be good I am sure.

Lou - fingers crossed for you! Hope the bub holds on - sounds as though the hospital did a great job..

Now I have a question for you all - have also posted a thread on the pregnancy board. What are your views on giving bub vitamin K either via injections/ drops? What are you all planning to do?

Dal21 - You will see my story on Oct thread, but will post here too

I thought I was on holiday this week...

Packed the car up, took us 8 hours to get to destination as the traffic on the M5 was so bad, tried to book in, only to be told we were a week early

I am a totally dozy cow, and had written the dates down wrong on my calendar, and went by them instead of double checking the paperwork. They were fully booked for this week so couldn't change our dates, and we couldn't cancel and get our money back, so are having to do the whole trip again next saturday. They managed to find us a room for last night (luckily) but we have driven all the way back home this morning. At least it only took us 5 hours (inc stoppages) on the way back.

Luckily I have a very laid back and understanding DH, we had a good laugh about it eventually, had a good meal and a drink (I needed it) DS was an absolute angel seeing as he was in the car for so long, I am incredibly lucky. Just hope next weeks journey isn't as long. We have decided this week was just a practice run.

On the brighter side, I forgot to pack quite a few bits and bobs, and we overpacked other stuff, so we can cut the luggage down next week. Also on the way down I started sneezing and by the time we got there I had come down with a stinking headcold, which has made me feel crap, so at least I can get over that this week, and be better for next week, as I really have less energy than usual and it wouldn't have been as good fun if I was knackered all the time. Also the weather is supposed to be better next week, as it was pouring with rain when we got there yesterday. We are also known at the resort now and provided the staff with a good laugh, so they will remember us for next week.

All in all, I feel a complete muppet and the journey is crap but next week I'll be more prepared. Just hope ds is as good next week
