I did it (slightly adjusted the wording - is it OK?)!!! Now all we've got to do is a link from the old one to the new one - I'll leave that to somebody a bit more competent!

By the way, I just go laalalaalalaaa when you guys talk about epidurals/pain relief etc. I really didn't enjoy having one when I had DS but I had to as they had put me on a drip and all sorts and I had lots of complications. Ended up with even more severe migraines for years afterwards too. Didn't have one with DD1 and much preferred the whole experience. If I can get away with it this time, I'm going to try and avoid having one (obviously can't predict how things will go!). Gas & Air me up all the way!!!

It's recommended to wash the clothes even brand new ones in non bio. I have to use non bio anyway cos of DS sensitive skin.
BUT it does mean you can't return things!

loobybump · 26/07/2007 15:35

O my i must add another thing to my To do List! this is crazy!! so much to do so little time.!

Rosie2404 · 26/07/2007 15:44

Hi im new on here - chattyham just invited me into this talk. Im due 25th Sept and have a son who is 3 in dec and a daughter who is 17 months. I had natural delivery with my first, c-section with my second and am hoping for VBAC this time. Anyone had any experience of a VBAC please?

loobybump · 26/07/2007 15:54

Hi rosie welcome to the sept babies :-)

I'm afraid i have no experiance in child birth what so ever ( Agh ) i cant help you on that one chick.

MrsMar · 26/07/2007 16:11

Hi Rosie, welcome. Ditto what Looby said, I'm a first timer, but good luck with the vbac plans...

It's a bit of a PITA to have to wash everything before it's worn.... as you said looby, yet another thing to add to a crazy long list!

MrsFish · 26/07/2007 16:31

I never pre washed any of ds1's new clothes... but at least they are this time round since I am reusing it all

loobybump · 26/07/2007 16:37

I just cant believe how much their is to do, i left everything till now becasue i thought i didnt want to be bored when i start maternity in two weeks but now i have huge regrets and wish i started sorting things earlier!!! still waiting on nursary furniture to arrive so i cant sort the clothes either till its arrived as i need somewhere to put them and fold away! what a nightmare!!!! Still got the whole house to be carpeted and painted yet !!!

Chattyhan · 26/07/2007 16:56

To all those worried about everything they've got to do as long as you've got a car seat to get home from hospital (they won't let you out without it) a few babygros, nappies and somewhere for baby to sleep you can sort everything else out when the lo has arrived!

Rosie2404 - glad you found us my DS will be 3 in dec too - that's a close enough age gap for me you must be very brave!

loobybump · 26/07/2007 17:10

O Car seat mine doesn't fit in my car i need a new seat belt a longer one!!! i should of checked when i bought it but i didn't. think ill walk home from hos!! hahaha!

kinki · 26/07/2007 17:25

Chatty, you just reminded me, when ds1 was born, (admittedly about 2 weeks early) we really didn't have anywhere for him to sleep. Someone was going to lend us a cradle/hammock thing, but hadn't got round to getting it out of their loft. We didn't even think about it until it was time to settle him down for the night. I kid you not, we got out the bottom drawer of the big chest of drawers and was about to pad it out when one of us thought about bringing the pushchair upstairs for him. (He was very tiny, so we didn't think co-sleeping would have been a good idea at that time.)

So we used the pushchair for a few nights, then the hammock thing arrived. But we decided for whatever reason that it would be unsafe to suspend it from the ceiling (our house and the hammock were very old) so we still couldn't use it. It took us another few days to knock up a stand for it. Talk about being unprepared. I also recall having to call by mothercare on the way home from the hospital to buy some tiny baby clothes and other bits and bobs.

This is my 3rd now, so I think I've got it all covered. Mind you, his room is still an office and likely to be for the foreseeable future and all baby clothes/paraphanalia is boxed up in the loft. So in theory I'm sorted. But in practice, in real life .......

Hopeitwontbebig · 26/07/2007 17:55

Welcome on board Rosie, nice to have you in our club! It might be worth doing a search to see what messages people have posted in the past about VBAC, I've seen loads over the months, or you could start your own on pregnancy.

kinki that's a v sweet image you preparing to pad a drawer for a bed How are you doing these days?

dal32 - glad you enjoyed the film! Brilliant that your en suite is coming along so quickly, uber exciting stuff! That's next on our house job list... think we'll wait until next yr for that one

EmLou - I NEED DETAILS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm having a growth scan on Wednesday. Were all the measurements high or just the thigh bone for eg. Just to give you an example of how they can get it wrong, they predicted DS to be around 8lb and they were wrong by 2lbs!! I must admit I learnt my mistake when I had DS1, none of the newborn clothes fitted him, only 0-3. So I've only bought 0-3 again. Be 'funny' if this one turned up early, I wouldn't know what to do with a small baby!! eek. One more question, what did they say about inducing you early then?

kinki · 26/07/2007 18:08

Ok thanks hopey. I'm determined to lower my steroid dose, because it has an immediate and direct impact on my blood sugar levels. Presently I'm borderline needing insulin. Saw them yesterday, and having to go back in tomorrow for another check. I step down the steroids weekly, and have been a little wheezy this week, but am going to lower it again tomorrow. I reeeeaaallly don't want insulin so I'm hoping (fingers crossed) that I can cope with at least another drop or 2 of steroids iyswim.

Good luck with your growth scan. I'm booked in for another one in a few weeks. On mine all the measurements were in the middle or just a little over, except the tummy circumference which was a little high, but still within normal limits. Apparantly that's the one to look out for with increased blood sugar. His current weight is about 3.6lbs, don't know what they predict for delivery though. I hope yours goes well. Do you feel bigger/smaller/the same in size compared to your previous pregnancies. I feel bigger with this one (but then my others were small). With your name, we are all on tenterhooks waiting to find out the size of your lo.

Hi everyone else, hope you've had a good day. Special hi and welcome to rosie. I was due on 25th originally too, but am having a section on the 14th.

MrsMar · 26/07/2007 19:41

Hi Kinki - I hope you manage to sort out your steroid/sugar balance. I'm not sure what's worse, wheezing or having to take insulin. Poor you

Love the image of baby in a drawer, that's soooo sweet! You are right though, so long as you've got a car seat and something for baby to sleep in. I don't feel too stressed because, although we don't physically have it in our hands, my sister is giving us her moses basket and she only lives 10 mins away. We got the car seat in France last week for a bargain 110 euros (I've seen it for £120 here!). I still don't really have any clothes though, just got a sleep suit my mum bought, two sleepsuits (age 6-12 mo) from my grandmother - bless her, I didn't have the heart to tell her he won't be wearing them til next year in all likelihood, and whatever my sister digs out of her loft, a few sleepsuits and such like. Poor mite isn't going to be on any best dressed lists for a while.

kinki · 26/07/2007 20:34

Thanks MrsM. Sounds like you're good at sniffing out a bargain. Also don't forget people quite often give clothes as a new baby present. Mind you in my experience people tend to buy a little bigger, eg for 6-12mths. There's plenty of time left yet though. Remember too, that the lo won't be in the early sleepsuits for long, so buying long lasting quality isn't really an issue. I got the early baby staples in places like tesco, bhs etc. And they're still fit for purpose for the 3rd baby. Actually, thinking about it, I also lent out all my baby clothes to 2 friends too.

Helenelisabeth, are you still looking in? Been thinking of you and the tests you were having done. Did everything go ok? I hope all's well.

EdieMcredie · 27/07/2007 08:52

I think we have everything we need for baby! Waiting for nursery furniture but im excited today as having a kiddicare delivery, I ordered some bits and pieces that were in the sale.

Saw MW yesterday, at 33 weeks im measuring 34-35 even though all through pregnancy ive been spot on. They want to measure again on 8th, MW thinks baby is very tall. DP and all his family are very tall...

Hope everyone is ok, welcome Rosie!!

emalushka · 27/07/2007 10:45

Hello!!

Haven't posted a message for weeks and weeks. Due 18th Sept... Apologies for not keeping up with news, just don't have time - and this is my first!
Last time I logged on, people were having relationship problems.... I hope these are now resolved. I never realised how much having a baby changes your relationship. We're getting on well, but I'm very conscious of how my priorities have completely changed.
I'm still very small - not yet in maternity clothes - have to stick my bump out for people to notice! I do get upset when people say, 'Are you sure you've got your dates right?' and 'Oh my goodness, my belly looks like that when I've just had a big meal.' Yes, I am 7 and half months pregnant, yes, my baby is very healthy and no, it is not a dwarf, just petite like it's mum. I keep going to the midwife in a panic, thinking that it is not growing, but it definately is and she keeps telling me to ignore people's comments.
Hope everyone is well, I loved the nct classes, and would definately recommend them. Have met some lovely friends through them and will stay in touch. It's lovely to talk to people going through the same things as you. xx

loobybump · 27/07/2007 11:26

Hey,

Well i wish i looked small i look like a size of a bl00dy house its depressing especially after finding a stretch mark. at 27 weeks i measured 33 and now at 33 i measure 40!!! and im only small so i have this huge football sticking out of me..! not long to go now so i guess i can deal with it! Relationship good sex life.....Non existant STILL! so looking forward to getting all sexy after baby and gettng some loving of Dp!!!

dal21 · 27/07/2007 12:14

Hi Emalu - peoples comments are so upsetting. I am actually getting fed up with people telling me how much hardwork it is having a baby and how my life will change for the worst! What is with people?? Jeez - I will find it out for myself - i don't need peoples oh so 'helpful' preparation. rant over!

I went to my mw appt this week worried about the exact same thing! I have a very very very noticeable bump, but havent generally got too big elsewhere (yet! have plenty of time) and I was worried that based on peoples comments, the baby would be too small. At 30+5 I was measuring just about 31! She too told me not to worry about peoples comments and that because I was so tall - I just carry bub differently.

Loopy - our sex life is totally non existent too - I have had a total lack of rampant hormones, but DH feels funny about it too. Feels as though baby is a real person already and it just isnt right. We get lots of kisses and cuddles and us time without sex which is lovely. But I am preparing him that if this bub gets overdue, he may have to step up the mark to perform! Told him it was the least he can do! He has agreed! Lol!

Hope everyone else ok - am looking forward to the weekend. Cannot believe am at 31 weeks, they are ticking by nicely now!

loobybump · 27/07/2007 12:28

Dal- Lol @ getting hubby to step up to it if baby is late...! V Funny at least he's agreed. I think im going to make mine if that happens though my midwife told me to be prepared for baby in two weeks as baby engaged and in the perfect position so fingers crossed little one stays their! Now she has said that i can now see me being late though!!

dal21 · 27/07/2007 12:50

Loopy - have learnt that the best way to bring DH round to my way of thinking is to plant the seed so to speak and then let his mind come round to what I have put across in his own time. If I hadn't prepared him - it would have been totally petrified rabbit in headlights look! This way, he has a good 2 months to get his head round it! If needed! I hope I don't. Have been lurking on the Jul thread and the overdue ladies are getting VERY impatient - dont blame them one bit!

amyclaramum · 27/07/2007 13:17

Hi Everyone hope you are all having a good day !?
Haven't posted for a while - end of term was quite hectic. We are now on holiday and going away tomorrow for a week to Southwold (my DH'S family are from there) and hoping for some sunshine.
TBH i am feeling quite low at the moment - just tired and fed up really. Also went for scan yesterday and LO still transverse so they have said they will try and turn her and induce me at the same time nearer the due date unless she turns on her own ! Sorry don't want to upset anyone but it was awful at the hospital - everyone in the waiting room was in tears as a woman was crying and crying really loudly in one of the ultrsound rooms - obviously just been told some bad news . I felt so sorry for her - things do go wrong and you just don't think about it do you ? Sorry don't want to upset anyone just feeling a bit anxious and need to share

dal21 · 27/07/2007 13:21

Ah amyclaramum.

sorry you are feeling low, that cannot have been at all pleasant. yes things can go wrong, but we all have to stay positive, think positive and hope for the best. It's all we can do really. I have had the scary pop up thoughts throughout my pregnancy and all I do is try and stay positive. We can only do our best.

Then the LO's arrive, turn our lives upside town and apparently we never stop worrying either!

Hope you feel better soon. How far along are you? I have heard of bubs turning just before delivery!

MrsMar · 27/07/2007 13:25

Hello everyone... gosh looby, are you worried or not about possibly being early? I guess if the baby's engaged and big enough, then s/he's cooked enough. I'm biased, but July/August babies are great... firey Leos (like me )

I had my 32 week antenatal appointment today with the gp... I'm measuring bang on 32 weeks so no giant baby for me so far. The doc seemed to think he's head down, he couldn't really be sure, but if he is then the reason all my kicks are so low must be to my bucket like pelvis! He's asked to see me again next week as I've got a bit of oedema, he's told me to try and get my wedding ring off. I'm not that keen, but I'd hate to have it cut off if the oedema gets worse. I'm not too worried yet, but this is the first time anything has given the slightest cause for concern so it was a bit of a surprise.

Anyway, I'm off to finish off my cleaning blitz, I hope everyone's having a lovely day.

xx

amyclaramum · 27/07/2007 13:31

Thanks for your kind words Dal21 ! I'm 35 weeks now so I think she can still turn round ! I need to try all the sitting forward positions .

dal21 · 27/07/2007 13:34

Oh amyclara - don't worry, you still have plenty of time! My MW says she has had babies turning at 38 weeks - and that isnt uncommon. as long as the bottom doesnt engage (which can make it problematic) - you will be fine! Try talking to bub and asking it to turn! I know it sounds crazy, but you never know! I reckon bub knows what is coming and may help out.

Failing that acupuncture and moxibustion (think thats what it is called) is meant to be quite effective at encouraging bub to get into good position.

Not long left now - am sure everything will be fine!
