I did it (slightly adjusted the wording - is it OK?)!!! Now all we've got to do is a link from the old one to the new one - I'll leave that to somebody a bit more competent!

By the way, I just go laalalaalalaaa when you guys talk about epidurals/pain relief etc. I really didn't enjoy having one when I had DS but I had to as they had put me on a drip and all sorts and I had lots of complications. Ended up with even more severe migraines for years afterwards too. Didn't have one with DD1 and much preferred the whole experience. If I can get away with it this time, I'm going to try and avoid having one (obviously can't predict how things will go!). Gas & Air me up all the way!!!

Looby - those pains I think are likely to be your pelvis stretching and stretching some ligaments as it does so - I get them as well! Lovely!!

Hope you are not too bruised!

Oh loobybump, hope you feel better soon. Sorry I can't offer any advice - hope somebody comes along who can...

Glad it all went well Holly

toadstool, glad there's light at the end of the tunnel in terms of getting out of there. Sorry you've got to do the injections etc. my DH suffers from a needle phobia and its not very pleasant! Hope you find a way to cope with it but glad baby is doing fine!

dal21 - my anti-d wasn't half as bad as I thought it would be so I'm sure you'll be fine, just wiggle your toes lots!

MrsBumbleBee - enjoy your last day at work!

Last night, I asked DH if he would do the honours down there if I needed him to and he screwed up his face and said he would prefer not to bless him! Well, I had to ask!!! Not sure if I'd want him doing anything anyway tbh! Oh, and what are bikini trimmers? Are they those tiny razors? I've decided to go with veet and will be embarking on using it a few weeks before I'm due and then again around my due date to keep things 'trim'. I didn't give a flying monkeys about 'presentation' when I had my other 2 DC's but for some reason this time its really important to me!?

HIWBB, how are you? Haven't seen you around for a while but hope all is OK? xx

Hi all.

finally managed to find a second to catch up on the threads. I know that builders are essential if you want things done but they really take up your time - they were here until 8.30 last night talking to DH about the kitchen which meant we didn't eat until 9.00 and I then got all the subsequent pleasure of heart burn and feeling sick! Oh well, they might be here for the foreseable but at least I, like Mrs Fish, am off to Cornwall on Friday for a couple of weeks - let's hope the rain holds off.

On the topic of bikini waxing; I had mine done on Friday and I thought I was going to faint, not only was it very painful but I ended up looking like a plucked chicken . Problem is, I can't bear the thought of going into hospital looking untidy so I am going to have to put myself through it again soon. (That's the problem when you have a crush on your obstetrician!).

Anyway, I hope everyone is having an ok week. I don't know why but I can't help being really tearful - anyone else feel down without a particular reason or is it just me?

EmLouT, yes I'm having lots of crying days too! And even on the 'not to bad days' I'm crying at the soppiest of things. I've always been reasonably emotional (films etc.) but this is above and beyond anything I've ever known!

I keep getting days where I find myself either really down or really anxious about stuff too - I guess that's the down side of pg for us!?

I know what you mean about being anxious. I am getting so wound up about the silliest things (mostly to do with how much needs doing to the house before the baby arrives) and I can't get them off my mind. DH tries to understand but I think I am driving him up the wall! I wish I could just switch my brain off and relax.

Oh well - hopefully it will subside in time -two weeks away from the house should help! Am off to do some retail therapy - I got lots of vouchers for my birthday so I am going out to spend them.

Keep your chin up PLP - at least we know we are not alone!

Hi everyone!

Mrs B - the bikini trimmers are just those, trimmers that are specially designed for use in that area. They are fab! Nothing like razors. Mine are by remington I think - picked them up from argos years ago (dead cheap - under £20 quid) and have used them religiously since getting preggers as am far too much of a wimp to have a brazilian when pregnant. It's bad enough when not pregnant. I would hate it if I didnt have a tidy up once in a while and (tmi warning) - I swear since getting pregnant, it is growing a lot faster than normal.

My appt this morning was fab. Baby is measuring spot on, anti-d really is not a big deal, heartbeat fine - basically a big thumbs up! Hoorah! Had more blood tests to check for antibodies and iron levels but am sure they will both come back fine!

Am going to have to head out of the house - the bathroom is being smashed to pieces and does not a relaxing environment make. Think I am going to go to the cinema and watch Hairspray! Such indulgence. I loved the original!

Thanks EmLouT, yes it is mostly getting stuff ready around the house that is bugging me! We keep having conversations about what we're going to do but never seem to get it done as I haven't got the energy and DH has been working all week. Also, we've had family over from Canada so I've been going over to my parents to see them and spend time with them (which I really enjoy but it isn't getting us anywhere!).

Enjoy spending your vouchers! I got some as a leaving gift from work and spent some of them yesterday - retail therapy really does help! Only thing was my swollen ankles afterwards but well worth it!

Thanks mrs b! will let you all know whether it is worthy of a visit to the cinema for.

Do get them - they are so easy to use, no reliance on DH to get the job done...not yet anyhows!

dal21 - glad your anti d went ok

Never used bikini trimmers i can't seem to shave down there as i come out in an itchy rash. So tend to use sensitive creams which are a pain and a mess - definately impossible during pregnancy! So it seems they'll have to put up with the wild look!

I'm very much in a can't be bothered mood at the moment - if it wasn't for DS prob wouldn't get out of bed! Just watching ds run around makes me tired - not long to go and tired will take on a whole different meaning!!!!

Holly29 - glad the growth scan went well i'm getting eager for mine for reassurance but not until tues!

Mrs Bumblebee, I wanted to say how delighted I was to read your post that your little baby boy's heart is healthy, what a relief for you all I know how frightening these heart scans can be - they sure like to be thorough, which is a good thing, just a worry at the time. I hope you can now relax and pamper yourself!
I'm moving house on Monday and so not able to keep up with the posts at the mo but I'm hoping once I'm in and settled I'll have lots of quality Mumsnet time!!
Ooohh, just seen the new thread, I'll copy and paste, Oh enjoy your last day at work - yeh!!!

Thanks Willjo! Yes, it was a real relief. The midwife will keep checking the heartbeat on a regular basis until the birth, but I think it's just a belt-and-braces thing. And thanks again for all your advice about heart scans earlier - it really helped .

Is anyone else wondering if they should buy some summer clothes for lo if we're going to have a sept summer? Keep wondering if i should get a few things in the sale as DS was a dec baby or just wait and see?

It wouldn't hurt... I can see us having a very mild to warm Autumn.

Ds1 was born in the midst of summer and I still have some of his things so I'll stick with them

I would just get a couple of light trousers/shorts as vests can be used for t shirts and they can still be used if the weather is cooler.

Hellooo on the new thread... well done PLP!!

Sorry been a bit out of touch this week. Now I knew I knew I knew I knew I knew I KNEW it would be like living in a bombsite having this kitchen work done... BUT I reeeeeeeeeally didn't know if you know what I mean . IT IS ABSOLUTE CHAOS HERE! I can't get into the lounge because the dust is so overwhelming so have been using our bedroom as a kitchenette, lounge, diner! I can't believe the amount the builders have achieved already. Doorways have been blocked and new ones created, walls have been knocked down. We have a huuuuuuuuuuuuge space for our kitchen/dining room. It will look fantastic once it's finished. But the reality of it is that we won't have a kitchen for 5/6 weeks!!!!!!! Had a bit of a mare with the kitchen designers, they had allowed for the boiler in the wrong place, then suggested that we could maybe move it!! I came up with a solution! Hmm, thought that was their job. Anyway, as you can see, it's all good fun here!

Had a quick catch up with everyone else.

Holly, so glad your growth scan went well, you must be so relieved.

dal21, sounds like you're living in a similar environment to me!! Great isn't it! Was the film any good? John Travolta's in it isn't he?

Hope everyone else is well. How are you getting on toadstall? Are you out yet?

I now need to go on line and change an order for an integrated freezer to an int washing machine. Another hiccup in the kitchen plans means my FANTASTIC washing machine has to go . It's one of those massive ones that you can get 2 loads in one wash. sad sad sad. Ho hum.

  • this is what I look like, or am presenting at least! We need a 'doolally' emoticon don't we!!

I am beginning to think that I may have got a lot of clothes which are going to be of no use - have just been for a growth scan and the estimated weight of the baby is around 9.5 - 10 pounds which means that some of the smallest clothes which I have got won't fit. I can't take them back because I have washed them all already. Oh well - they might come in useful.

Despite the fact that I am pleased that the baby is growing well, I am a little concerned about delivering such a big baby - I really don't know how much further my poor body can stretch.

Am off on holiday tomorrow for two weeks but will catch up with you all when I am back.

EMlouT - just checked stats page for your due date and couldn't seem to find you?

Gosh i don't envy you - my DS was 8.9 lb and was only in newborn clothes for 2 weeks if that! All i can suggest is that you sell them on - maybe someone here would like them?

Report
EmLouT · 26/07/2007 13:47

Chattyhan - I'm not on the stats page because I am rubbish with the internet and can't seem to find it. Baby is due on 14th September but my MW said that they may have to induce early if he gets too big. I guess I'll just hold on to the newborn stuff until he is born and see what fits. Thanks for the suggestion of selling it on - I might do that.

HIWBB! Hello! wondered where you were. My house isnt too bad...we moved out of our bedroom (its the ensuite being redone) and that room is a MESS! But keep the rest of the doors closed, so rest of the house is fine and we are sleeping in the spare bedroom. They are moving at a rate of knots too, so reckon they will be done by tues at the latest! 7 days in all, not bad!

The film was fab fab fab! Utter cheese! Pure escapism. John travolta and the rest of the cast are superb! Go see it! (if you like mindless cheese that is)

EmLouT - I wouldnt get rid of anything yet - predictions on baby size are totally random from what i can see. Did you watch the baby episode of fight for life? One of the mothers in that was told her baby would be huge, was born weighing under 7lbs. Hold onto it all and sell it if its too small.

Hi everyone,

I hope everyone is starting to dry out a bit! The sun seems to be trying to poke out here in London.

HIWBB - you so have my sympathies, I did the kitchen thing at the end of last year, it's tiny and we live in a flat so the impact was HUUUUUUUGE! Horrendous! Sounds like you're being very calm!

I haven't really bought any clothes yet, I'm waiting to see what my sister gives me as she's got loads of unisex stuff from her girls, one was born around the same time as mine is due and one was born last summer, so I think we should be covered. I've only bought a couple of newborn things just in case we're caught by surprise and we've got at least a few sleepsuits. Enough at least so my poor boy isn't naked for his first few days on earth! I'm very impressed at those of you with everything organised and washed already, do you have to wash all new clothes before using them? Do you use NonBio washing powder? We usually use Biological cos DH is such a mucky pup, but I thought biological might irritate baby skin.

With regards to the babys clothes i haven't even thought about washing it all. Should I? I have so much on my mind that i never even thought about the baby's Clothes!!
