I did it (slightly adjusted the wording - is it OK?)!!! Now all we've got to do is a link from the old one to the new one - I'll leave that to somebody a bit more competent!

By the way, I just go laalalaalalaaa when you guys talk about epidurals/pain relief etc. I really didn't enjoy having one when I had DS but I had to as they had put me on a drip and all sorts and I had lots of complications. Ended up with even more severe migraines for years afterwards too. Didn't have one with DD1 and much preferred the whole experience. If I can get away with it this time, I'm going to try and avoid having one (obviously can't predict how things will go!). Gas & Air me up all the way!!!

Pennypops, I'm glad it's not just me!! Even though I'm 37+1, I don't feel 'imminent' at all - baby still high, very few twinges or BHs. Then again, a friend of a friend who's due the same day as me was feeling similar, and her waters broke today. So who knows?

Kelm, thanks for the info - very helpful. Can I ask one more thing (sorry, just one, and then I promise I'll go back to treating you as a MNer rather than a textbook ). The baby's head is down and he's back to front, so all good, but my MW said that he's lying with his back towards my right hand side, rather than my left. She's told me to lie on my left a lot to try to encourage him to shift over. Why does this matter? I guess I assumed in my ignorance that women would be symmetrical, but maybe that's not the case?

Hope everyone else is having a nice afternoon. Off to the MW and supermarket now, with the rest of the scones to eat when I get back .

Hello!

This thread is getting soo busy! Cannot keep up.
Well last night i finally joined the rest of you suffering from sleepless nights! LO would not settle and plus had my first attack of heartburn ever! Thank goodness for all of you - because of your feedback on it, I picked some gaviscon up just in case last week. At 1am this morning, I was incredibly grateful I had done so!
Am also not going to complain about bub wriggling, its better than when its quiet and i get worried.
Had a good morning so far, got some more painting done and then stopped when my major nursery delivery arrived! Have just finished putting the frame/ baby bag together and it looks sooo fab!!

Good luck to all those with appts today. Twit - you have to let us know how your contractions are going.

Right - am off to check the other 2 details sent through, will re-send the info through later this afternoon.

Catch up later

Mrs B - to be honest with you it doesn't really matter what side your baby's back is on tho they say that back on the left makes the labour go a bit better because of the way his head goes into the pelvis but in my experience it doesn't make that much differnece. My LO is forever changing sides, generally on left but he tends to flop over to the right when i lie on that side.

Afternoon everyone, you lot are chatty today

Too tired to catch up properly atm, was just having a quick read through then I am going to bed. Ds has been driving me mad all morning, I actually lost it with him and shouted and then got all upset at myself for losing it, still feeling very tearful and trying to hold it all in whilst typing this now, but its not working. Dropped him off at nursery and just done a bit of food shopping so am now going to bed. See you all later x

Kelm - It must be difficult for you to combine the professional with the personal. I will however be taking your advice and having a regular bounce on my ball. I am also trying to force myself out for a walk each day. By the way is there such a thing as too much jam in a donut? I'm not convinced. Given how many Krispy Kremes I can now pile my way through I consider myself and expert

Mrs Bumblebee - feel guilty now because whilst I wouldn't wish this sort of inert state on anyone I'm quite relived its not just me! Interesting to hear your friends waters popped - I guess its true what they say, we really are all different. Fingers crossed we both get some relief some soon!

Edie & Twit - hope you aren't getting too frustrated. Given my lack of action I'm pretty envious

MrsFish - hope you feel better after a snooze. I think anyone with young children must be drive to utter distraction from time to time xx

Catch up again later....

Hello all,

Sorry to hear you've had a rough morning MrsFish, hope you have a lovely rest! I remember too well what it was like to have a toddler in the house when I was having DD1 and I'm sooo grateful the kids are older this time! (don't meant that to sound smug, just wanted to let you know I know how it feels).

kelmcd, it must be so different being on the other side of things! My friend is a sister in intensive care and she says that being a patient is very un-nerving because she's more aware of what is happening to her. Despite having all that knowledge, she is still a wreck bless her! Like you say though, at least you'll have had the experience when you do go back to work. I have to admit that every single time I come into contact with any mw, there's a voice at the back of my head saying "have you got any children?" because I feel more assured to know if they have been through it themselves no matter how nice they are! That's probably really out of order for me to be even thinking that, let alone to admit it - please forgive me!

MrsMar - you've put us all to shame and you should be very proud of yourself! I looked in our freezer yesterday and realised that its at least 70% full of ice-creams and lollies and Ben & Jerrys!!! I seriously need to start thinking about stocking up on real food!! My cat also thinks I'm a part of the sofa now and is taking every opportunity to sit on my bump - I feel awful as I'm pushing her away all the time but she soon finds the nearest spot she can next to me instead lol!

dal - yay on your nursery stuff arriving, how exciting!!

MMooMar - how lovely to have won something, even if its not something you need lol!

Edie and twit - how are you feeling? I've been getting bh this afternoon but nothing serious - do tell us how you're getting on!

I have no idea which way this lo is facing but beginning to wonder if I should worry as both DS and DD1 got stuck sideways while I was in labour - I guess I'll find out tomorrow at the hospital.

Still got the headache but managed to have a big sort out of baby clothes - I've separated all the newborn from the 0-3 months and 3-6 months now. I seem to have ended up with a small pile of prem clothes too - anybody confident their lo will be less than 7lbs? If so, I'd be happy to send them to you, they're lovely! (mostly girly though).

I've also bathed DD1 so my back is killing me now - probably why I've been getting all these bh! Her hair is almost down to her bum so bath time is always a big thing as I like to treat her hair with all sorts of stuff to keep it from getting tangled up. She has been practising brushing her hair herself lately and I'm hoping she might even try putting it up herself soon. It has hit me that 10 mins doing her hair in the morning might not be too much of a problem now but when lo arrives, it could become a problem! You wouldn't think she's 9 next week!!!!!

Anyway, I'll check back in again later - hugs to all! xxxxxx

kelmcd, if you just copy the list and paste it onto a new message inserting your details in . I think Nettee is a midwife too, so you're not alone.

Twit, I am liking the mostly we will be wearing stripes thread, go for it!! Have you been getting any more pains today?

MrsFish, glad you're feeling better after your shower, somehow washing hair is cleansing in more ways than one at times....!

MrsMar, well done on the cooking today!! I started a little while ago, made batches of chicken chasseur and cock o vin (SP), when kitchen is up and running again I'll start again in earnest, DH is unable to prepare meals because of his one armedness. Was planning on making veggie lasagne, also just saw a fab recipe on tv earlier, if I find it I'll link to the website. I did start a thread for recipe suggestions months ago but it seems to have got lost. Have you looked at the Waitrose website for recipes, there's some great ones on there.

TOD, welcome back!! Glad to hear that you are doing well. Just make sure you log on again before you have your LO!!

AmyclaraMum, how are you doing today, hope you're not going out of your mind with boredom, shame that patientline isn't a bit better!

Loopy, I am sorry to hear about you having your stepson to stay, I agree that it is totally unreasonable for his Mum to even consider allowing him to stay with you after you've had LO. I hope he makes up with his Mum v soon, if not, I think kinki's playstation idea is a very good one!

Jemima at the prospect of your in-laws coming to stay for a wk, how could your DH even consider letting them, OMG you poor thing, it isn't written in stone is it?????? Fingers crossed for you.

Me, maybe we should start up a 'show watch' thread, I'm having a bit of a bloody discharge today and lots of achy bump pains. I decided to go along to the hospital this morning and they hooked me up and the monitor showed a few tightenings which registered at 40%, apparently true labour contractions register at about 90%. My cervix is slightly open, but they told me that's not uncommon as it's my third baby. Both the midwife and doctor confirmed that LO is still breech. I've had a lie down and snooze after takign some painkillers and things seem to have settled. I was just told to come back in if the pains get worse or more regular. Think I was a bit worried because LO is breech and my labour with DS2 was fast, although I don't have a history of premature labour, however this pregnancy has been SO different, maybe it's because I'm older, or maybe it's because it's a girl this time
