I did it (slightly adjusted the wording - is it OK?)!!! Now all we've got to do is a link from the old one to the new one - I'll leave that to somebody a bit more competent!

By the way, I just go laalalaalalaaa when you guys talk about epidurals/pain relief etc. I really didn't enjoy having one when I had DS but I had to as they had put me on a drip and all sorts and I had lots of complications. Ended up with even more severe migraines for years afterwards too. Didn't have one with DD1 and much preferred the whole experience. If I can get away with it this time, I'm going to try and avoid having one (obviously can't predict how things will go!). Gas & Air me up all the way!!!

[dons cap of wisdom and sits back]

My mum and s/dad have just left for Cheltenham, still no water there I don't think so they'll be back next week I expect. Although our town wasn't flooded it was cut off for a few days so we don't have wet feet here thank goodness.

I'm glad to see everyone is coping, I've got 7 weeks left although baby has shifted and is lying low, so maybe I'll be early again.
[fingers crossed for 36 weeks +]
I have ordered some baby essentials from tesco's today and made a wish list in mothercare for a few bits and bobs, plus have washed carrycot and clothes ready.
I now need to rinse the nappies etc through and the bedding and I'm almost done.
Oh and buy some raspberryleaf tea for week 34.
Don't get rid of maternity clothes that are a bit small yet as you will probably get into them after you've had the baby [not straight away necessarily but you will]
Finally HELLO to all the new members, is this a massive thread now or is it me?

The countdown has begun I'm 31 weeks on sunday and getting quite uncomfortable now. I've put two stone on so far and feel a total blimp but can't seem to curb my eating also off on hols for a week tomorrow so plenty of eating to be done there

I'm hoping for full term as hubby is going away for two weeks at the end of August, last thing I need is an early one. last mw appt my measurement were spot on for dates and his head was in the correct position so all hunky dory there... unless he moves that is, butI am really getting kicked at the top of my ribs now, which makes sitting up quite uncomfortable. Its all getting 'real' now... when should we sort out hospital bags? and what do I need? totally forgot what I packed first time round

Hello all, hope you are all well.
Sorry to hear about your hospital appointment being so upsetting, amyclaramum, getting some not so good news at the same time that someone else was so upset must've been horrible for all concerned, but I'm sure your LO will turn really soon.

MrsMar, I hope your oedema calms down of its own accord too.

Mrsfish, there is a list in that stupid Emmas Diary thing of what to pack along with a huge list of everything else that it claims you need at home. I don't believe most of it, but it's good to have a kind of checklist even if you end up ignoring a lot of it

I had my MW appointment today and not only has the baby not turned round the right way, she's now breech. But, plenty of time left for her to get into the right position and get comfy enough to stop hurting my ribs, hopefully. I had the worst leg cramps in the middle of the night too, I don't remember that from last time and I hope they're not going to be a regular thing!

Helloooooo everybody,

Welcome Rosie - I am a first timer like many here but hope you have managed to find the info you need - MN hasn't let me down yet.

Been a bit manic as am on 3rd to last day at work today - hurrah!!! Just been having a good catch up. Lol at discussions re lady gardens and trimming implements! Waxing still works for me although I do now need to stand in front of a mirror when I do it!!

Amyclaramum - I'm so sorry you are feeling low. I think a week on holiday will do you the world of good. That situation in the hospital must have been very upsetting. We all have thoughts like that and its just "there but for the grace of god" and all that. I agree with Dals comments that all we can do is try and stay positive in the main. Things may well look more cheerful in a day or two. ((((big hugs))))

Looby and Dal - DH is now fully conversant with the the idea that the hormones that made the baby are the same ones that get it out!! I have sold him the idea that the more love action we have the quicker the birth is likely to be hence the quicker my recovery afterwards and the happier I and baby will be. I just hope I'm right!!

Edie - I think we are both blessed with shortish statures and tall partners! I was a couple of weeks ahead from about 28 weeks - 32 weeks but it seems to have evened out since I hit 34 so maybe the same will happen for you. Looking forward to hearing the next measurement!

Bigsea - glad you kept your feet dry. As always I have read your words of wisdom and taken note!

I now have less than 6 weeks to go (well, in theory at any rate) and am SOOOOO EXCITED!!!! I do get quite uncomfy at times but at 34 weeks I am counting my blessings that it isn't a lot worse. I can't wait to finish work on Tuesday. I'm afraid I am planning on lovingly washing all the little vests and sleepsuits and little babygros I have had stored away. I've had this vision of all these tiny clothes on the washing line for days now. Normally I HATE laundry and its s huge chore so this is quite clearly some crazy nesting impulse. If I find myself ironing them I know its gone too far.
Nursery is just waiting for delivery of cot and drawers and then we're done. The pram arrived on Wednesday which was great fun - it took us ages to put it together and now its parked in the spare room until we have a baby to put in it.

I did think I should save some tasks for my maternity leave and I have saved up some but I really want to spend it chilling out, going to visit people and catching up on my reading. If its going to be the last me time I get for around 18 years then I am going to enjoy it!

Anyway, have rambled way too long. Have a brilliant weekend everyone xxxx

YIPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
DD is going to granny and grandad's tonight for the weekend (first time, for more than one night, since she was born 2 years ago so am a bit anxious !!)

But this means DH and I get a WHOLE WEEKEND together! ALONE!! That is as long as work doesn't call him and say something stupid like "OMG!! All the staff have called in sick and we NEED you!!" Plsbh (That's now my "blowing raspberry" LOL)

Anywho, have now got to think of lots of lovely things to do together
We haven't had this much time alone since DD was born, will we be able to keep up conversations?!! Having an evening alone, after she's gone to bed, is usually a quiet affair!! LOL

And it's not like we can resort to carnal fun due to SPD, so anyone got any suggestions?

I suggested going to the cinema, he wanted to go to see a car, but luckily it got sold y'day heehee!

Anywhop, sorry to hear about the appointment amyclaramum, I don't think I'd be able to hold back the tears if I were in the waiting room either, and as for being induced and having to turn baby at the same time, that would be my worst nightmare (sorry, doom and gloom here) I'm really anxious about having LO at hospital (and might even change my mind yet!!) as I had DD at home and had a lovely expierience, technically could do it again but we've moved since then and I'm not sure if I'd cope in this house, it's just not the same

I've got a MW appoinment at the end of the month but so far she hasn't really informed me of LO's position or anything, should I take it that she's lying right and is the right size etc? Ooh thinking about it got my notes here might just check them LOL

Glad everyone else is doing Ok, bet you're all looking forward to maternity leave (those who work) I don't envy you at all though LOL

Am having fun making little bits and pieces for LO, got a wall hanging and a baby carrier on the go!! Bloody cross stitch though! GRRR LOL
Have done a couple of little dresses for DD too, she was feeling left out, every time I'm sewing she asks "What's that?", "Sewing", "For DD?", "No, for baby" "Oh. . ."
So I did some for her and she was chuffed, bless her LOL Just to see her face light up and start dancing around singing "Ooh, pretty for DD" LOL

LOL at everyone preparing their OHs for marathon sesh in the next few weeks!! I've been making a real effort to keep going on the sex front (can't really call it bd now can I?) even sometimes when I can't be bothered cos I know it's harder to start up after a long gap. The longest gap was about two weeks but that was cos I was on nights and soooo knackered. I'd better start preparing dh for the shock that will be after the birth. I can't see myself being up for much then. Aren't you supposed to wait 6 weeks anyway? I think he'll faint if I tell him that

Kyala - I hope you have a lovely evening with your dh, do you have a dvd or something you've wanted to watch for ages that you can snuggle down on the sofa to? Nice bottle of wine (you can treat yourself to a glass?) and a lovely meal? Whatever you do, have a lovely time.

We're in a terrific social whirl this weekend, a friends boyfriends birthday party tonight and then a housewarming barbeque all day tomorrow. I'm keeping my fingers crossed the sunny weather continues for a bit.

I hope baby stays put a bit longer looby, if only to get your stuff done! I wonder how many of us are going to end up giving birth in months other than September?? (obv Aug or Oct.... would be a shock if anyone gave birth in November or December! ) I have a feeling I'm going to have an October baby.

Thanks emj23 - I've been so smug about my trouble free pregnancy, I was due something to happen. Hopefully it's just a bit of water retention!

Thebigsea - glad you weren't flooded, I hope Sunday's rain doesn't hit you or cause more troubles! Good tip about keeping smaller maternity clothes... I've only thrown out one thing so far, a pair of trousers worn through at the crotch (oh my chaffing thighs... nice!)

I don't know how much weight I've put on, but I'm so determined to lose it afterwards. I've been eyeing up all the summer clothes with such envy this year, and being this big is making me really motivated to lose weight. Normally I'm so lazy about these kinds of things! We were walking past a fabulous lingerie shop the other day, and dh wanted to buy something gorgeous for my birthday. I felt rotten cos I won't be able to wear it, and I feel so fat. He's bought me some jewellery instead, I told him to save the underwear for Christmas... it's gotta be gorgeous and silky. Nothing remotely maternity!!!!!! Can't wait!!!!

Loving the idea of sexy underwear @ x mas i may have to buy myself something cute and NON MATERNITY for x mas. looby - eek the thought! It does happen though, I read a few posts on here from women who conceived on their first cycle after giving birth, could you imagine!!!

I have some VERY funny memories of DH and I 'trying' to do it when I was overdue, it really was hilarious, bit like a military operation, not v romantic, but needs must... it was worth a try at the time!

MrsMar - sounds like you've got a fun weekend ahead, you enjoy yourself I can't wait for 'normal' pretty underwear again. I've put on loads of weight, but I did when I had DS1 and DS2, so obviously that's my make up.

kalya I'm v excited for you. How fab to have that time to yourselves. Hope you enjoy it whatever you decide to you. You sound very creative with your sewing!

Pennypops, bet you're counting down the minutes until you finish work aren't you? You're right, there's something very special about washing those baby clothes for the first time, it's hard to imagine a REAL little baby wearing them! Your plans for the next few weeks sound spot on IMO, lots of reading and chilling out. Hmm maybe I should take some of my own advice... oops too late.... living in a bombsite

emj keep us posted on that breech thing! Not sure what position this LO's in. Lots of low down kicks.

MrsFish I'm with you on the weight gain, just go with it, down worry. I've been thinking about my hospital bag too. I'm sure I won't need it for ages yet, but you never know do you!

MrsMar, hope you manage to get your wedding ring off without having to have it cut , take it easy and don't overdo it!

amyclaramum, sorry to hear about the experience you had at hospital, v sad. ((hugs))

dal21, sometimes people just don't know when it's best not to offer advice or give their pearls of wisdom. Dur, we know it's going to be hard work, we know it'll be knackering but it is so worth it and very rewarding so bugger off please!

emalushka, they're all just jealous!!!!!!!

Edie, that's quite exciting, my boys were tall babies!! I'm watching you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

kinki, you truly are between a rock and a hard place aren't you with the steriods and insulin. You sound amazingly strong. Re baby size, it'll be interesting to see what the measurements are for Weds, I'm intrigued. I have to say, I do feel quite uncomfortably big, I'm sure from memory I didn't feel quite this big last time. People keep telling me I have a neat bump, whatever that means. I'll keep you posted. I think I would be more shocked if the scan shows the baby is of ave size! Got my reputation to think of here! joke.

Well, I'm lovely and cosy in my bedsit upstairs, got all the mod cons, microwave, en suite, kettle, toaster, tv! This'll make you laugh.. a neighbour is away on holiday and said I could use her house, so I went round there this morning with the boys with a weeks load of washing. After 2 and a half hours of wondering why the water wasn't leaving the machine - I phoned another neighbour for help who told me the machine I was using was broken!!!!!!!!!!!! BY now it was starting to overflow My lovely neighbour's husband came to my aid and managed to drain the water and get my washing out. Said neighbours have done two loads, hung it out to dry and cooked us shepherds pie for tonight. I truly am blessed to be living in such a lovely area , v happy.

Only problem is, I took the boys to Tesco at 2:30 for a late lunch and I had a jacket potato, I still feel really full, don't know how much shepherds pie I'll manage later! Oh just remembered, I had one of those, woah that was close I almost threw up on the waiter moments on Tuesday. I remember a few of you saying you'd experienced that whilst pregnant. At the time I was conscious that I probably wouldn't get a proper dinner, so wanted to make sure I'd eaten all my lunch, which was massive... BIG MISTAKE... I've never in my life experienced a near miss public vomiting! Delightful!

This is a vvvvvvvery long post isn't it.

Hope everyone's well!

Finally ordered my Phil & Teds last Sunday, just hoping it arrives in time.Knowing my luck it will turn up early and I will be short of cash then (nothing new there then!).Will be using my baby carrier that I had with the pushchair for DS so at least we wont be waiting on a car seat to get out from the hospital...lol!

Well had another MW appointment yesterday...sheer waste of time again, god every 2 weeks now.Head still down and free so I imagine it means it is not engaged (thank god) on target with size/weeks,so all normal really.Got another scan in 3 weeks to see if the placenta has moved up out of the way so fingers crossed on that one.Oh and never got away with the blood letting either, have got to get another lot done...sod it!

Hospital bag all present and correct, well very nearly, just got to chuck some cheapo Asda knickers in and some snacks, even put a bottle of squash in already.Packed some prem clothes in it just in case, hopefully will be able to take them out and replace with newborn size ones.

Still got to sort out the coverage for the feather bed on my matteress, got to get that done. Will be so gutted if my waters go in bed and I havent sorted it.

My lilypadz came the other day too, dead weird things but very comfortable though, better than normal breast pads ,just hope they work ok.....still if not they are still useful to contain inch long sticky out nipples in thin bras!!!!!

Take care all.

Wow - tons of posts.

Thebigsea - hello oh wise one! glad you havent been flooded - must be very relieved!
It is getting so exciting reading about everyones preparations. Havent thought about the hospital bag yet as am only 31 weeks - when should you have it ready to go by? 34/36 weeks???

Pennypops - only a few days of work left! how exciting!!! I have 11 days over 3 weeks left and am looking forward to washing bubs clothes etc.

MrsMars - you are soo good! I kept waiting for the rampant hormones to kick in after tiredness of first trimester (DH had NOOO chance then!) and it never happened. And since the bump has been more prominent and been wriggling, DH has just not wanted too either. So preparation was required!

Kyala - enjoy your weekend!

HIWBB - I know these idiots need to be ignored, it is just getting a bit much is all!

Moomar - you sound very organised!

Hello to evryone else. sorry if i have missed anyone and have a fab weekend all. I have a night of big brother and checking out this facebook malarkey (EVERYONE i know is on it and have finally been swayed to check it out since may be a good way of staying in contact with the world once bub arrives!)

Crikey, I thought I had done well to catch up until I realised there was a new thread. Just cannot get onto the computer in the summer holidays!

I have to confess that I have lovingly washed and ironed all of the baby's things (washed in Ecover non-bio fyi). I still wash all of my boys' clothes before they wear them, I just hate that new clothes smell and some of the dyes can be irritating. I can promise that I won't be ironing the baby's clothes again (I even ironed the muslins , they just look so lovely in a neatly ironed pile ).

mrsmar - I took my rings off a couple of weeks ago because I had a little bit of swelling, since then I have had no swelling but I am too superstitious to put them back on. I feel naked! I hope yours is fine, but if your bp and protein are ok then it is probably just normal non-risky oedema. Drink lots of water if you are not already.

I had an appt with the consultant on Wednesday, my bp was good and he said "fantastic scan, no problems, see you in 4 weeks". hallelujah!! I am now past the date (32+5) when my boys were born. Uncharted territory. However I do think bubba is still breech and my bump is really sore at the end of the day, and my placenta is still a little low and needs checking at 36 weeks. I still need to go weekly for bp checks.

I like the idea of leaving the hospital bag until early labour, I think I might do that too - just need to go and check I have everything.

Can anyone explain why my effing MIL keeps asking me if I will be "feeding" this baby? I "fed" premature twins FFS, so why shouldn't I "feed" this one? And why can't she say the word "breast"? And why does she constantly have to tell me how much she wants us to have a girl???

She just went all prune-faced when I told her I like the name Alfred for a boy. [In-laws are visiting this weekend to "help" and I have escaped to the computer]. So far their help seems to consist of sitting and drinking tea and talking non-stop while I run around after my boys. I think MIL may have dried a plate since they arrived.

Quick mini-rant there, I feel better already .

I've been starting to prepare a 'just in case' drawer full of hospital stuff, ready for some-one to grab and stuff into a bag.

Oh, flip flops are a good idea for in the showers at hospital. And maybe a puzzle book and pen in case you get bored...

I have just confirmed with my friends that I can text them all in case I need them and even sorted the ones who could do a night shift with dp away.
And my friend is going to bring her old cot round for us next week as well as cleaning up and giving us her old tandem Jane three wheeler.. I'm so lucky to have friends like them, and you of course..
