Thanks j20 - well ds has been asleep most of the day, when he was awake he just wanted cuddles so I have barely left the sofa all day. It has been a struggle to get him to drink anything, but he did manage some spaghetti and a yoghurt for lunch. He has gone back to bed now, hope he has a good night and is better in the morning.

j20baby · 16/07/2007 21:21

aw bless him. its horrible when their poorly isn't it, hope he feels better soon, and you get some rest too in case he has a bad night or has another poorly day tomorrow x

Well girls just taken your advice and I have bought What to Expect the First year and the claire byam book on breast feeding from Amazon, will see how I go with these and then possibly buy the Baby Whisperer as well. Decided its time to get a little bit better prepared as I have done nothing to prepare for this baby. Haven't even ordered or bought anything!!!!

I feel a shopping spree coming on

j20baby · 16/07/2007 21:31

polar- you haven't bought anything yet! what, nothing at all? i've bought and been given that much, i've had to sort it out and give some away!

lisa-have managed to watch that photo video thing of your dd, still nearly started bawling! i lovew the karaoke one and painting one

MrsFish · 16/07/2007 21:39

Get spending, you know you want to

I have had to stop myself buying stuff

btw I have 3 summer maternity tops that don't fit me properly if anyone is interested in them. I tried selling them but have had no interest so if they fit anyone you are free to have them, as I would rather someone get use out of them

The link is here

j20baby · 16/07/2007 21:45

mrsfish-what size are you? do you fancy maybe doing a swap? i got a maternity bundle form somebody here and the tops where meant to be size 12's but they're not and they're too big for me. can email you some pics if you want?

OP posts:
MrsFish · 16/07/2007 22:05

j20 - I am generally a size 14, if its stretchy material I may squeeze into a 12. The tops I have are not stretchy and are too tight on my boobs, otherwise they would have been ok

j20baby · 16/07/2007 22:05

or i could just put them on my profile? anyway let me know, am off to bed now.

night all

OP posts:
MrsFish · 16/07/2007 22:05

Is it poss to put them on your profile? Are mine all the wrong size for you?

j20baby · 16/07/2007 22:06

x posts

well i am normally sixe 10/12, and they are too big, a couple of them are stretchy, will have a look tomorrow and post pics on my profile for you

MrsFish · 16/07/2007 22:07

j20baby · 16/07/2007 22:08

i think yours may be ok for me as i have quite a narrow back, will put some on profile now x

OP posts:
j20baby · 16/07/2007 22:14

have put some on, will label them properly tommorrow

and i don't suppose a bed would take the 2 of us atm

OP posts:
MrsFish · 17/07/2007 08:02

Thanks for that, looks like I beat you to the bed

Well if you want the tops I am more than happy to do a swap. I haven't suscribed to this CAT thing on here, but my email is lisa @ the - fishbowl dot co dot uk if you want to carry on the discussion offline

btw the pink one may be too big for you as it is a little big on me, but I can send anyway, you may know someone else to pass it on to if it is

Note to self - try things on properly in the shop before bringing home and wearing

muppetgirl · 17/07/2007 09:15

Morning all!

We had a great morning yesterday with taking the dogs for a walk with ds on his bike. Then we went to sainsbury's to shop and then had a coffee in the coffee shop -he had 'cherry cake.'

Unfortunately he then turned in to Kevin the teenager -moaning, whinning. Nothing was right and it ended up with him throwing his cars accross the room and me frogmarchng him to bed!

Anyone else had any experience of this? He's 3 and has been fantastic through the 'terrible 2's' and fine for the first bit of the 3's (he's 3.4) He has a great tactic that when I tell him off he just starts to cry and says 'mummy, you upset me.' (!!!!!?????)

Anyway, we're off to the soft play place which he loves so hopefully thngs should be better.

Mrs Fish - Hope your lo is feeling better today
J20 -Enjoy your first day of maternity leave
Polarmummy -I can't beleive you've not bought a few things! This is the perfect excuse for a shopping spree, come on girls -get your coats.....

See you all later

WinnieThePooh · 17/07/2007 09:27

Morning all

DP has gone to the FRacture clinic this morning. Hopefully he will NOT come back with his arm in Plaster.

I am off out now to put out my Avon books.

Have a good day ladies.

lisad123 · 17/07/2007 09:30

Morning all

Missed loads of messages yesterday. My mum and dad pooped in and ended up staying for lunch and dinner. I think they felt sorry for me
Thanks for the message Flora, we just try and get though each day and manage ok, but when something like this happens it scarces us all. I worry for the girls a lot, although misdee does a wonderful job it does affect them
J20, took me forever to delice but shes been sent off to nursery with replanent in her hair, so fingers crossed she stays away from the lice kids till she finishes in 4 week Thanks for the omments about the video, I dont know why it makes people cry, its happy stuff. LOL I love the painting pic best and the one of her eating popcorn with daddy.

As for breast feeding I fed dd for 4 weeks, until they changed my BP meds and i got sick I have to say it was very hard, dd fed straight away once i was stritched up, but then that was it, she was tiny and weak and had to be fed via a syrigene for a week. Do what you think is best, the BF nurse at the hospital was horrible and had me in tears, pulling dd around and tugging at my boobs I plan to BF for longer this time, but im lucky dd will be at school, and im not fussed about getting me boobs out in public! LOL only for feeding though, not some weird flasher one

Im at home today, on my tod, but pain is pretty bad today so will just be resting. Hope your all well today.

Hugs

Muppet;Clever little tykes aren't they? DHs nephew was told off at 3.6 for hitting his friend...his response?.."but she hurt my feelings!" And it is so hard to be firm with them when you just want to laugh at such blatant manipulation...my mother was an oldfashioned 1950/60s nanny and her response would have been a harsh "carry on like this and I'll give you something to be upset about" ie a smack or in my case because I could wind her up so badly, a time out (which for me was worse) Good luck with the first signs of rebellion.
Mrs Fish; I do hope your Ds is better this morning, poor little mite.
Polar: I know how you feel...we have been bought and been give lots of things but not a single item is in our house....and won't be until it is needed.

Well Dh rushed our friends to the hospital last night but by the time they got there everything had stopped!!!! However they have found her a bed and kept her in overnight saying that if nothing had happened by this morning they will be inducing her today... not heard anything as yet.

MrsFish · 17/07/2007 09:57

Ds is perfectly normal again today thankyou, he slept right through the night too without waking up. Not sure what was wrong with him but at least he is back to normal today

FloriaTosca · 17/07/2007 10:07

Just got the update!...my friend suddenly delivered the baby herself at 4am in the hospital bathroom!!! (a far cry from the horrors of her first birth 9 yrs ago) What is more the 10-12lb that they were predicting 3-4 weeks ago was only 6lb 4oz! It is a boy (they got that right at least!) and he's being called James. Mother and baby are apparently doing well. Time to get some practise in!

MrsFish · 17/07/2007 10:08

Blimey - congrats to your friend

I can't believe how they get sizes so wrong, I mean estimating it could be twice the size that he is

FloriaTosca · 17/07/2007 10:09

Mrs Fish; I'm glad your DS slept whatever it was off.

lisad123 · 17/07/2007 10:09

Bloodly hell in the hospital bathroom!! Where were the staff?
L

FloriaTosca · 17/07/2007 10:15

I agree about the bowling ball sized prediction...if I had been told mine was that big I'd have gone for the C section without hesitation! I'm now taking yesterdays scan (measuring mine at 3lb with 12 weeks yet to go!)with a pinch of salt

ejt1764 · 17/07/2007 10:19

Congratulations to your friend FT ... stories like that make me grin from ear to ear - there's hope for me yet!

Well, the visit to the GP was not really that good. I told her that I just couldn't cope with the pain, and that I'd tried some cocodamol and it had made me really sick all day Sunday - and she told me off for taking it! FFS - I took it because the thingy I had from the hospital had an analgesia ladder on it, and said that cocodamol was fine to take! Anyway, she's not given me any more paracetemol suppositories, but she's given me some NSAID gel to rub in instead. I tried saying that I couldn't use it (I am severely allergic to NSAIDs), but she just brushed off my concerns and said I'd have to use a lot of it! I am in so much pain, so much of the time, that I can't do any of my normal activities.

Great state of mind to be in today - as today is the day I go to see the consultant midwife and try to get her to agree to me delivering in the water in the MLU. I may explain my problem with the GP (she (the GP) is usually really good, and I think I may ask for a referral to the obs. pain clinic. I am really worried about today - in that I burst into tears every time I think about delivering this baby - I thought I'd got my head sorted out, but maybe not! I don't want to look a t!t in front of this woman.

Am really, really scared.
