alice - just need to say, don't get worked up about leati - she seems to start an inflammatory thread about once a week - usually with the same blanket quoting of websites and conclusions, rather than stats.

I only joined in on the FAS one because you were there!

muppetgirl · 18/07/2007 09:12

Hi all

Things went from bad to worse with ds so by the time dh came home i was on the sofa feeling thouroughly fed up. We had a big talk about what to do as I am feeling very down/frustrated with him as he seems to like making me cross.

He got up this morning and dh is working from home aho asked him to take a teddy back upstairs which was a simple thing to do, he then refused so dh said more sternly to take it upstairs to which ds stomped upstairs and spent the next 20 mins crying his eyes out.

Dh was a little surprised and at least I think he believs me now how irrational ds's being.

He finally came downstairs to breakfast all sheepish and actually trying not to laugh...

Dh has taken him to nursery for me today so at least I can get some housework done (lucky me!!)

muppetgirl · 18/07/2007 09:14

Oh, btw I was prescribed cocodemol by the dr for my headaches in early pregnancy so I'm a little confused as to why another dr would bollock a pregnant woman for taking it??

Maybe I was just supposed to look at it

MrsFish · 18/07/2007 09:18

Hi muppetgirl - ds is 2:1 and is doing the same to us atm, crying over the slightest thing, this morning he had a tantrum for I don't know what... I just put him back to bed and came out, when I went back 5 mins later he was smiling

My dh and |I have discussed a plan of action to deal with it now. He gets told 3 times to do something, if he doesn't listen we then say, I am going to count to three, if you haven't done it by then, this is the punishment... then carry out threat if he doesn't do it. It seems to be working so far, have only had to count to three twice to carry out punishment, most of the time he will do it within the count of 2.

Try not to get to stressed out, he is just testing boundaries. Discuss with your DH a plan of action and then make sure you both follow the same plan each time it is needed

muppetgirl · 18/07/2007 09:45

Thanks Mrs Fish, we do do the count to 3 thing and it does seem to work. The naughty step -he just takse the p*ss out of, sending him to his room worked but now he just sits and plays. BUT telling him he's naughty boy works atm as he hates that.

I feel I'm engaged in psychological warefare with a 3 year old!!

Ejt and Alice -Just ready the fas thread by leati
Can't believe how condescending she's being. Statistical manipulation is fantastic, governments have been built on it -does she not realise that?

lisad123 · 18/07/2007 10:10

Ejt, glad your getting your chair, and hope it helps.
If anyone has wedding or party i have some lovely maternity dresses
I had an ok nights leep but got woken by phone this morning, so could have splet longer
If you had a crib and moses basket already would you buy an amby nest? Am i being silly and wasting money??

Hope your all ok today.

Lisa

FloriaTosca · 18/07/2007 11:36

Lisa; I have had an Amby bought for me so I'm biased....my Mum has gone on for my whole life about what a nightmare I was as a baby; permanent colic, never ever sleeping for more than 2 hours etc etc and my cousins kid has still got the remainder of flat head syndrome at 3yrs, so when I read about the Amby I thought the sleeping position made sense and seemed a natural transition from the womb and decided "thats for me"!..when I told Mum about it she went straight out and bought it for me! If it isnt necessary and the moses basket I have been given is more convenient then the resale value on ebay is fantastic so its a win, win situation as far as I'm concerned... but as I say, I'm biased ... it is how you feel about it that matters.

designerbaby · 18/07/2007 11:51

Mornin all - in middle of frantic presentation preparation (Mrs Fish - you'll remember the madness, I'm sure...) so no time to catch up - will do so later!

Must Lisa _ I've got 2 weeddings this summer and have been stressing about dresses - do you think yours migt fit me? I'm a short busty lass - currently wearing a size 12 (which just covers gigantic bazookas without swamping the rest of me...) 5ft 2"

Can you post piccies? Or send a link?

Got really annoyed on the Pregnancy board yesterday evening and ended up telling someone to bog off... Feel quite disappointed in myself that I rose to the bait 'cause am normally SOOOO poilte. They can just be so bloody rude and agressive though - I think I'll just stay here where it's nice and cosy [warm and fuzzy emoticon]

Hope you're all doing well...

DB

j20baby · 18/07/2007 11:52

right you lot, please stop talking about ambey nests now, i want one cos your all getting one and can't afford it!!{{stamps feet}}

anyway, morning everyone, hope your all well, i've been shopping this morning for trainers for dd, but ended up getting pj's and jeans for her instead, as we go away for the weekend on fri and nothing fits her!

i'm shocked at the alcohol thread-some people! also anyone see my friend thread? (apart from alice of course) some people can just not take a joke!

think i'm a bit hormonal today, people seem to be really annoying me.

am off to get hair trimmed and then i will have a look at my wallpaper

FloriaTosca · 18/07/2007 11:54

A quick update on my friend; they apparently started inducing her at 10pm when all went quiet on Monday night but nothing happened so they sent her DH home..at 3pm she said she was getting contractions but they couldnt feel them and she wasnt dilated at all..at 4pm she said they were coming closer together but they said she was only 2cm dilated so she asked to be unhooked to go to the loo...when she got there her waters broke and she pressed the buzzer for a nurse who took one look and went for help and a tray of instruments but by the time she got back, my pal had delivered him herself!
Her Dh got the weight wrong he was 6lb 13oz...still a mile out from the estimate but when you see his head (like a rugby ball front to back) you understand why they got it wrong. Anyway they got home at 4pm yesterday and he has done nothingbut eat and sleep...even had to be woken for night feeds! And I'm so glad I didnt buy her anything before the birth because everyone had got her 2nd size and 11 lb+ baby clothes which drown the poor little mite! Needless to say I'm the saviour pitching up with a bag full of early baby and newborn stuff!!!(Dh said "how much?" at the cost but no doubt I'll get a lot of them back in 3 months!) Thought you'd all like to know.

alicet · 18/07/2007 12:23

Ejt ? hope your hydrotherapy goes well hon! And cheers for joining in the alcohol thread! I did get a bit wound up ? anyone that tries to enforce their views on you without being able to respect differences of opinion winds me up I?m afraid! Thankfully I had arranged to meet a mate to take our kids to soft play so had to walk away!

Muppet ? sorry to hear you?re having a tough time honey. Unfortunately from friends experience although not my own I think this sort of thing from time to time is normal. Not that it makes it easier to live through I?m sure particularly when you?re tired and hormonal. Big hugs to you! Sounds like sound advice from MrsFish too

Lisa ? if you want an amby nest and can afford it you go for it. If you don?t use all 3 (personally not sure how you would but its not up to me!!!) then you can always sell or give away the ones you don?t use.

Db ? check out the Isabella oliver website (I think isabellaoliver.com / .co.uk) for lovely dresses. They have a sale on at the mo too. I bought the empire maternity one in raspberry for a wedding and its gorgeous. Can dress it down too so could justify the fact its not cheap. They also go for similar amounts on ebay which means you could flog it later. Or look on there first ? I have lots of their stuff I?ve bought on ebay too! Good luck with your presentation

J20 ? enjoy your hair cut and a bit of pampering and forget about the wallpaper!! OK I will let you do it but only as long as you stop if you get tired or it hurts? Very kind of me don?t you think!!?

Floria ? great news about your mate!! That?s the sort of birth I?d like (although perhaps less of the rugby ball sized head!)

Had a lovely morning at softplay with ds and a mate and her dd. Chilled out nicely after getting cross and ranty on the alcohol thread! Got a few bits and pieces to sort now if I can tear myself away from the computer ? prob see you later xxx

lisad123 · 18/07/2007 13:11

Hi designer

I have this dress which is a size 14, but looks lovely on. I too have huge boobs, and it sits nicely. The other dresses i have i think would be a bit big for you. Im only 5foot tall and sits well on me. You are welcome to borrow it for the wedding if you like, I have another wedding in sept, but hoping itmight still fit. Its very comfertable.

let me know

Lisa

lisad123 · 18/07/2007 13:12

I can just about afford the amby nest, from a lovely lady from MN. Argghhh I guess if i buy it and LO doesnt get on i can resell so wont lose anything.
Have to decide by tomorrow.

lisa

alicet · 18/07/2007 13:24

Go get it then lisa!

I too am a midget of 5ft! All the best things come in small packages I say!

ejt1764 · 18/07/2007 14:11

Muppetgirl ? pyshcological warfare is exactly what we have with our kids as they test the boundaries. If it?s any consolation, a child only feels able to test the boundaries with people with whom they feel most secure ? that?s why when you are ranting about dc being a little ?£$%, and your mil (for instance) spouts off about how they are always beautifully behaved for them, you can have a smug smile to yourself ?

FT ? what a fab birth story ? bet her dh isn?t best pleased to have been sent home, and to have missed it!

J20 - please be careful!

Alice ? I could see you were getting upset ? last thing I looked, they were still at it!

Hi Lisa!

Hydro was lovely this morning ? moaned to the physio about my GP, and she told me to go and stick the analgesia ladder up her nose (not really, but the intent was there!) ? and the analgesia ladder was written by the anaesthetic team of the hospital ? so they?re likely to be more up to date than my GP ? just going to see if I can book an appointment for tomorrow now!

Am going to be making chocolate truffles this morning for pressies for ds?s teachers this afternoon, mind you, if this sunshine carries on, I may have to go and sit outside!

alicet · 18/07/2007 14:14

Jealous of your sunshine ejt - its crap here!

Ds sleeping at the mo but think we'll go to the park later regardless though unless it actually rains. Bring on global warming I say!!!!

j20baby · 18/07/2007 14:23

good afternoon all, well i decided i really can't be bothered to do any wallpapering, cleaned the car out instead but i am so tired and ratty today!

Hi all, thanks for the 'geeing' up we have been to the new gym and I have booked myself into the pre/post natal class and have booked demon child into the creche though he will be an angel for them!

FT -good news about your friend, though I'll bet it was a bit of a shock!
EJT/Alicet-thanks for the advice I am consulting my toddler whisperer book as we speak!

It's not raining!!!
Dh is picking Ollie up from nursery so I am lucky to have been given a break today and will take him out on his bike till tea.

Speak later

Mumpbump · 18/07/2007 14:30

Afternoon all! I am too daunted by the prospect catching up with this thread so am not even going to try! Am feeling much better today, but have just found out that I am mildly anaemic which certainly explains a lot, including why this cold pole-axed me!! The joys of being pg, hey?

Turns out my sister is also pregnant and due in March which is quite exciting... Will try to keep up with stuff on this thread, but it is hard!!!

j20baby · 18/07/2007 16:31

mump - glad to hear about your sis

muppet my child is the demon child

well, i've just found out my iron level is still only 9.3, god knows what state i'd be in if i wasn't already on iron tablets, have to go see consultant again next week!

well, i'm going to have a sit down while dd watches a dvd, smell you all later

lisad123 · 18/07/2007 16:45

I am bored out of my mind. I have done, not a lot. DH has been invited out with friends tonight to wet the babies head (by my BF's hubby) so will be all alone tonight as well.

I have GTT tomorrow and dreading staving myself from 10pm tonight, i think its cruel to ask pregnant woman to not eat, how stupid!!

I dont know what i would do if i didnt have the internet. Its fairly warm here.

L

alicet · 18/07/2007 17:58

Lisa ? hope GTT goes well and will try not to have too many posts about angel delight tonight!! Not being able to eat at the mo is the worst form of torture I could imagine so sending you lots of big hugs and virtual choccy biccies to ram in your gob immediately its over!

J20 ? I?m not surprised you feel hacked off ? it certainly sounds like you get little help from your family. I would say stop being so accommodating to them ? but I know that might be easier said than done.

Mump ? congrats to your sis! How lovely that you will have lo?s a similar age! Fab news.

Muppet ? good luck ?taming? ds! And enjoy your break at the gym!

Well I?m very very excited ? I?ve just bought a mountain buggy urban and carrycot on ebay for £235 including postage which is a TOTAL bargain ? it?s one of the newer models too and they usually go for at least £100 if not more than that! Not in perfect condition but everything works that needs to! Having seen it in mothercare recently I really really like them so fingers crossed it lives up to expectations... Will compare it with the maclaren I bought when it arrives ? if I prefer it will return the maclaren but if not will list it back on ebay and might even make a profit! Happy days!

TheLadyEvenstar · 18/07/2007 18:03

I gotta know if I being a bad mummy....today I had a real taste for feta cheese so I went and bought a block......now only have half of it left......am I allowed to eat it??????

MrsFish · 18/07/2007 18:26
