Morning! Is anyone on here not finding out the sex of their baby? I have my 20wk scan on Weds and wasn't planning to find out, but all my friends/family thinks it's really unusual!

Megan2018 · 22/04/2019 07:58

@MyHomey
We already knew at 11wks as had Harmony test but I think there are a few team yellow!
I always thought we wouldn’t find out but DH was keen.

@IVEgottheDECAF Ah thanks, save me a wasted trip!

@MyHomey I wasn't going to with DC1, but they told us by accident... we have since as it's easier to talk to the older one about it, and we will again this time.
It does feel a bit weird when the only thing you know about this mysterious and exciting new person is their sex- you can't help but make stereotypical assumptions on some level.

We're not finding out Homey, which has surprised even us!

We found out with all (5) of ours. I couldnt cope not knowing my head would explode Grin

I know it's going to be so difficult to resist when we go! But I have an uber pushy sister in law who is telling me "I HAVE to find out" and that's making me more adamant that I won't 😂

@IVEgottheDECAF
5! I salute you!

@myhomey I don't think we are finding out, we didn't with DD and I love surprises. 20 week scan this afternoon but our hospital won't tell you anyway. So if I change my mind, we have time for a gender scan.

I feel very disconnected during this pregnancy and still miserable with HG so I had wondered if finding out might help me be a little bit more interested. But I'm not sure.

Ouf @Stroan you've had such a miserable time of it!! Good luck this afternoon xx

Bless you stroan I was sick this morning. First time in about a week!

Report
Stroan · 22/04/2019 09:18

Thank you. It's mostly nausea and never ending retching and gagging just now so I should just be grateful I'm not being sick very often!

I've got gestational diabetes too, so trying to stick to a GD friendly diet when all I can stomach are carbs is proving to be a challenge.

That does not sound fun Sad

Good luck @stroan! Sorry you still feel rotten.

Our scan is Weds. Totally overcome with The Fear that am not pregnant anymore.

DancingUnicorn1 · 22/04/2019 10:09

@Stroan I'm sorry you're still feeling sick but I'm also glad I'm not the only one! I'm sick 5/7 mornings and have random bouts of nausea throughout the day.

@MyHomey we're not finding out. A lot of my friends are trying to put pressure on us to find out too but we're sticking to our guns (unless it's very immediately obvious on the scan!)

TwittleBee · 22/04/2019 10:22

Oh bless you still suffering Stroan it's tough isn't it.

I was struggling to connect until about a week ago. DH is now finally being more loving and talking to bump which I think has helped. Plus our finance situation has dramatically improved since the whole redundancy thing so that's helped too. And sickness is fading.

We had no choice but to find out really with DS and this one haha. So bloody obvious that both time I've been the one to say "oh it's a boy then!"

MyHomey · 22/04/2019 10:26

@Stroan feel better soon 😕

@Megan2018 I feel the same! Not feeling much movement and keep worrying it's not there anymore or something is wrong!! I'm sure all is fine, but cannot wait to get some reassurance.

MyHomey · 22/04/2019 10:27

@TwittleBee Haha, I wouldn't really mind if the baby decided we should know early.. there's something nice about it identifying itself with a 'wave'!

Really have to face the fact that my bras don't fit anymore. I had a stock of non-wired ones that have managed thus far, but now I feel squashed into them all the time.

Heard good things about George maternity bras but they're sold out of nearly every size. Sad I already find bras quite tricky because I'm broad but not with big boobs, so bravissimo etc are useless for me.

Report
Megan2018 · 22/04/2019 11:09

@Lavellan
No exaggeration but I have tried on 51 bras in an array of sizes. Nothing fits.
I am now down to a multipack of cheap cotton bralets from NEXT which are comfy but don’t do much for shape or support. I have given up until I can look at nursing bras once boobs are at that point!

Oh @Stroan I was so hoping the HG would have lifted for you. Remind me, did you hve HG with your first? My stomach bug has bought back all sorts of memories of my previous HG pregnancy and I feel a bit traumatised all over again. The nausea is just completely debilitating isn't it?!

Would also love to change my Bugaboo Chameleon but keep having a word with myself. Only another 20 weeks to keep it up 😂

@Lavellan @Megan2018 I’ve bought these www.figleaves.com/uk/lepel-lexi-moulded-soft-bra/1079423.html?dwvar_1079423_color=739306 I find them really comfy and a lot more flattering than most maternity bras. They do a good range of sizes too I think.

Oh don't talk about boobs, it's getting stupid now for me. My previous As are now Es! God knows what they're gonna be like once my milk comes in. I only went up to a DD with DS. I'm still only a size 30 across my back though, ribs haven't started expanding yet.

Report
IVEgottheDECAF · 22/04/2019 11:28

My back size is up to 34 from 30! I have never passed 32 before in any previous pregnancy and only half way!

Report
IVEgottheDECAF · 22/04/2019 11:29

Before dc1 i was a B cup, before this pregnancy i was a D. So they have never gone back to what they were but the back size is a surprise
