I’ve not been posting much but have been reading to keep up and noticed we were almost at the thread limit so started a new one Smile

@DustyDoorFrames I was supposed to be but due to Easter Monday the family have decided to start the following week, which after Easter festivities I'm particularly relieved about!! The family I'll be working for were really great about everything so as of next week I'll be doing Monday, Wednesday, Friday so will have a day off between each and only 10 to 4. Finally feel like I will actually be able to function between those times so actually quite looking forward to it! :)

Yay scan @Stroan ! @Bunnymummy89 are you going back to work this week??
Thinking of you HG women, it's such duff luck!!

Finally gave in yesterday and got two mothercare nursing bras, the stretchy ones that come in S, M, L rather than bra sizes. Oh god, the comfort!

Work trousers will no longer do up so I'm hoping the ones I've ordered from ASOS will have arrived when I get into the office. My pre-maternity ones are being held up with a bump band atm which is precarious to say the least.

I was going to get a joie spin from birth too, but I was on a thread a few weeks ago and the OP was told that the convertible types weren't ideal for newborns- I think it's more so the case if you have a small baby where you might not be able to tighten the straps to the required extent. That, plus the fact the car seat essentially came free with the pram, meant we fell for the travel system trap too. I was still going to get a 360 for DH's car for occasional use but then totted up how much we still need to spend and realised we could put that on the long finger for another six months! I will probably just end up getting that or the britax equivalent in a Black Friday event.

Re a carrycot we used ours for all daytime sleeps until dc outgrew them, then just kept the moses basket upstairs. Baby napping in the pram means if you need to go out you can just layer up blankets and off you go

Also have to absolute second Asda nursing bras! I bought a two pack and literally all I am wearing. I will be getting some more as soon as they are back in stock.

Really feel for you @Stroan. Suffering from HG also, I think the ongoing nausea is the absolute worst. Luckily as of this last week nausea has finally lifted for me. I'm still sick EVERY morning but now at least feel better afterwards and can eat fairly normally and have a bit of a normal life again. Though have just accepted I need to be a bit selfish and say no sometimes. Don't lose hope! Last week was a whole different story. How far along are you now? Like you, every time I try without meds I am sick all day for about 3 days and risk admission. I've now just been told not to even try stopping. Just keep taking what you need to to get through. I don't feel I can cope with the regression mentally anymore so I'm going to do just that. Baby seems to be doing fine on them thus far so don't see why that should change. Definitely feel more connected to my little human now it's lifted a little for me, before was a mixture of fear that I might not survive the next few months with a touch of guilty resentment towards he/she! I hope that happens for you very very soon too.

Is anybody else absolutely bunged up to the nines?? I think this is adding to my sickness as every morning I wake up so congested and with such a sickly head because of it that bit makes me wretch until I'm sick. Once it clears I don't have a problem until the following night, no cold symptoms etc throughout the day. Is there anything we're actually allowed that helps?? I have to admit I'm still having the odd whiff of the olbas oil...

Lovely to hear you (nearly) all had great Easter weekends. Hope those others have all recovered now!!

We didn't use a carry cot loads, but certainly used the functionality of moving her in and out in the car in the seat and putting that on the frame masses (supermarket shops) I thought it was invaluable, we actually bought a second base for DHs car. Mine wasnt a big baby, but I thought we did that till she was gone 12months and used the infant carrier to 18months (she fit perfectly) then into ERF seat upto 25kg.

Great news stroan

Re travel systems i have had them before and not used a great deal for the purpose of a travel system, i dont drive so not much need. Also do find car seat + baby very heavy. But i have bought them as sometimes it works out cheaper to buy a carseat and pram together rather than separately.

Ordered a couple more bits of clothing from next sale, also started a list to keep track of what i have / dont have. We have lots of clothes from dc4 but mostly over 6 months so i need all new stuff for at first.

Very co-operative baby at the 20 week scan today, much more helpful than its big sister. No star jumps or half-wees required. All looking good, placenta is anterior which explains why I'm feeling movements very differently

@whisky2014 just to prove everyone is different, our travel system was very well used. DD would instantly fall asleep as soon as the car started so being able to lift the car seat out and pop it on the pram base meant she could stay sleeping if I just had to pop into a shop/doctors etc. If I thought she'd be in it for more than 90 minutes, I'd obviously put her in the carrycot instead but it always woke her up.

She was a big baby and I never really found the car seat too heavy or bulky - I also liked that I could get into her seat and covered up in the house (winter baby) so it was just a case of putting the seat onto the isofix base rather than carrying her outside in all weathers without a coat on (babies aren't supposed to wear thick coats or snowsuits etc in car seats).

@Whisky2014 We have the Egg stroller - used with Cybex Cloud Q (a car seat that can convert into lie flat mode when used out of car). For long outings we used the carrycot on the Egg until DD was about 5 months old, then switched to stroller seat. We used the car seat on the Egg for quick journeys, which was a god send for moving DD from the car to the pushchair without waking her up. Because our car seat goes flat, she could stay in the seat for longer than a regular car seat.

To be honest, travel systems/big buggies are a bit of a pain in the arse - they’re bulky and heavy and take up most of the boot (particularly with a carrycot to fit in as well). We’ve pretty much used our buggy (Babyzen Yoyo) continuously since DD was 6 months unless we’re going somewhere rugged - it’s light, folds to nothing and can just chuck in boot.

With this baby I suspect we’ll use the Egg for the beginning bit (as tandem with second seat so DD1 can use it - she’ll be 2.5) and then switch to lighter stroller again.

Bedside cribs - we have the Snuzpod and loved it. Cannot recommend the concept enough. DD stayed in it comfortably until she was 7 months old and I loved the closeness/ease of just leaning over and whisking her out for nighttime feeds. Friends of mine had Moses baskets, but they’re not sturdy once baby gets to certain size/wriggleness

@Whisky2014
It’s personal preference, but my friends who had babies last year recommended not bothering with a travel system as car seat quickly gets too heavy to lift in and out with baby in. Plus they can’t be in it for long anyway. So I’m going for pushchair/carrycot then separate car seat.
I want one of the car seats that spins like the Joie 360.

Does anyone have experience of 3 in 1 pram, car seat, bed thingies? My husband is keen but I think they will be an utter faff.

Happy Easter all! Spent a couple of hours this afternoon doing a spring clean of DD1’s clothes and working out what we need for DD2 - very cathartic! Realised we actually only have 3 newborn “best” babygrows (one of which DD1 came home from hospital in so probably won’t use that one again and just keep it for the memories) and 4 new(ish) vests. Similar for 0-3. So I have carte blanche to buy newborn and 0-3 clothes assuming all fine with 20 week scan Smile

I'm wearing my nursing bras from dd! They're M&S ones but not sized (as in S,M and L rather than bra sizes). They're just supportive enough and super comfy. Not the most glamorous thing in the world but hey ho, still being sick 2-3 times most days so think glamour is a way off 🙈

Oh god yes to new bras here too. 32B pre pregnancy, they didn't really get much bigger in the first 12 weeks but recently they seem to be getting bigger and bigger every day! No idea what I'm currently measuring but going shopping to buy some tomorrow! Will have to get the measuring tape out or I'll be trying on every size in the shop!

@myHomey I dont think we are finding out. It would be useful to sort out DD clothes (she is dress wearing girly) but I said to a friend this morning I probably cant be arsed anyway till he she is here and I'm forced! Dd never bothers calling toys he/she or giving babes so I doubt she will be bothered, she wanted a boy, then a sister.. so no special need to find out. We didn't with DD and were completely surprised!
@lavelle I'm around a 36B and upti 38C in pregnancy and do rate the George nursing bras, at £6 each I have a couple of black and white. The only ones I got on with really (m&s awerfull, mothercare needed extenders quickly, H&m would have been my next stop if George not available) They do come back into stock just frustratingly not fast enough!

@happydays00 no, a bit of nausea but that was it. It seemed to be getting better a few weeks ago so I tried a day without medication and.it was awful! Traumatised is exactly how I feel about the first 16 weeks - bleeds, HG, four different infections and three family bereavements. Thankfully it's all a bit of a blur now.

How are you feeling now? Terrible luck to get such a bad bug over Easter.

I'm going to get my bugaboo serviced so it feels all clean and new! Hopefully that will get me over my desire for something brand new and shiny. I'm sure when there's a teeny baby in it, I'll be quite happy.

Isn't it so odd how different our bodies during each pregnancy! I was already a 34 with DS. I am so tiny this time round too. I'm still in my non mat clothes at 19 weeks! I looked huge last time. But I think I did have awful core strength and posture prior DS
