@Whisky2014 controversially I love the boys clothes on offer, I'm really struggling with the girls selection. But I really dislike pink, and it's everywhere! I think our little girl will be dressed in dinosaur onesies for quite a while 😋

KnobJockey · 19/04/2019 07:12

Boots had some fab boys onesies in the 2 for £9 offer, here

IVEgottheDECAF · 19/04/2019 08:12

I think the thing with the boys clothes and me is i have already clothed three baby boys! My dds fave colour is also blue. I need more pink in my life!

Pastaallday · 19/04/2019 08:33

Hello! Due 1st September here. Anyone been looking at an Uppababy vista pram? Think we may go for it but there doesn't seem to be many shops that stock it. Anyone know of any good pram website? I know precious little things and huggles do it.

KR30 · 19/04/2019 09:01

Thanks for your opinions guys. I have decided not to take it, its just too much to be dealing with right now and my colleagues are amazing here. It was for a health trust so as far as I could read because of how late in the pregnancy it would be it would be standard MA. On the other hand I couldn't get hold of the line manager to get more details on the position and certainly wouldn't want to accept a job not knowing more than the title of the position.

Pregnancy related life for me - gender scan next week (eeekkk), ealry babymoon to mid May and 20 week scan 17th May (at 21+5) all go in the next few weeks!

We have been looking at the Venicci Carbo pram set, has anyone seen these?

MulderitsmeX · 19/04/2019 09:07

Dropping in -im due end of sept. Have 1 DC already
Pastaallday they are quite big but i like that baby is so high up, also so good that they convert so you dont have to buy a 2nd pram for baby no2 (like me!!)

They come up on FB a lot in good condition so might be worth checking there for a good deal

IVEgottheDECAF · 19/04/2019 09:17

I think online 4 baby have the vista

Stroan · 19/04/2019 09:19

@gemmajen I hated girls clothes when pregnant with DD. So much pink everywhere! I loved all the boys stuff though.

It is getting better though, more colours for girls. Next did a bright Dino range of dresses and rompers when she was a baby and she had the full collection. People still buy her dinosaur stuff now, and luckily she is obsessed!

The only pink clothes we ever had were gifts, but most people knew I hated it. MIL was distraught that she "wasn't allowed" to buy pink things.

I am not keen on the look of the Venicci prams in pushchair mode but this is probably me being a fuss pot!

My two front contenders atm are the ICandy Strawberry and the Silver Cross Horizon Go in Couture. Any thoughts on these? I am a bit worried i will buy and then someone else will bring something new out Cosatto that i want

TheCraicDealer · 19/04/2019 09:27

GemmaJen you might like this!!* Pink is a lot more palatable when mixed with other "brights". I think a lot of retailers are starting to realise that people want more diversity in girls' clothing. Jojo, Boden and John Lewis are usually places where you can pick up stuff that's a bit girly but with animal designs and bright colours (for both sexes) rather than fifty shades of pink or blue.

I like a touch of pink but on review of my baby stash I haven't actually bought any 😂 aside from a mama designs cellular blanket in grey with a pink trim.

KR30 · 19/04/2019 09:32

@IVEgottheDECAF I know what you mean, I have seen a few I don't like the look of too but a friend of ours has one that's lovely, must see which type she has.

We saw one of the Mamas and Papas Ocarro being demoed and she had me sold, DH not so much.

Too many to choose from!

TheCraicDealer · 19/04/2019 09:34

IVEgottheDECAF have you looked at the iCandy lime? If you still have a littleun or two the built in buggy board might be handy, and it has a one piece compact fold. Perhaps stupidly I'd be put off getting a discontinued model in case I needed parts or something in the future, but appreciate this is probably me being overcautious!

IVEgottheDECAF · 19/04/2019 09:35

The Ocarro is huge. Someone i know has it so i have had a go. I dont like it. Im pretty petite though. It felt like a monster truck Blush

IVEgottheDECAF · 19/04/2019 09:37

I did look at the lime but i dislike how shiny the coloured fabrics look. I am fussy.

GemmaJen · 19/04/2019 09:53

@Stroan there are some lovely mint and blue girls items in Next atm . I'm not opposed to girly things in general, I do like some florals and love vintage styles ( in love with the mint romper from next) but I seem to be getting an irrational irritation of all things pink! Everywhere I look, there it is, im also finding it frustrating that girls dinosaur items seem to need a dose of pink or bows so it's obviously for a girl? 🤷 I'm scared were going to end up with lots of pink gifts - how ungrateful does that sound? 🙈 I think we might only tell close family the gender in hopes that things stay relatively gender neutral 🤞

@TheCraicDealer I'll have to look up Jojo, Boden and John Lewis, I've mostly just looked in passing in Tesco and next so far. I do appreciate all the dinosaurs on the baby grow - I may be getting obsessed now, lol 😆

Stroan · 19/04/2019 11:13

@gemmajen I'm exactly the same. I do like dresses etc but just hate baby pink or stupid slogans.

I ordered some maternity clothes from Matalan. The one thing I wanted to keep (and wear today because it's warm!) absolutely stinks of cigarette smoke. Matalan don't exchange things by post, only in-store, but no store near me sells maternity stuff. So I'd have to return it for a refins, re-order and pay for delivery. They can't seem to see why that's not acceptable!

I know I can wash it, but it really stinks and I shouldn't have to.

DustyDoorframes · 19/04/2019 11:22

@Stroan that really isn't- look up your statutory rights (on money saving expert for instance) there are some "magic phrases" which lets them know you know your rights which always help. @Megan2018, you are good at this if I remember rightly?
Re clothes @KnobJockey you had a good thread on this on pregnancy, didn't you? Someone on there recommend Hema - I didn't even know they did baby stuff! It's very very cute without being madly pink and blue...

DustyDoorframes · 19/04/2019 11:30

Also we've done well at M&S, come to think, for both DD and DS. I have a MIL who gives them stuff I hate, and they are now big enough to insist on keeping it, but we can agree on a lot of the stuff in Marks.

Megan2018 · 19/04/2019 11:34

@Pastaallday
Uppababy Vista is on our list to try out. Our John Lewis has it (although sold out in the colour I like). We plan to try it there then order online.

Pastaallday · 19/04/2019 11:43

@Megan2018 yes we've just been to JL definitely going to go for it but might not but through john Lewis will see if there are any discount codes for online shops first. We love it!

Stroan · 19/04/2019 11:48

I like Zara and H&M for funky baby clothes, Next, M&S, John Lewis and Mamas and Papas for more classical stuff. Supermarkets for the basics that get trashed! I really hate ordering online though, I like to see what the fabric is like in person. I'd love Boden or Joules stuff but the price is insane.

My MIL has bought us some shockers - including lime green flared leggings. I just say thanks and put it aside. The waste drives me mad, but she isn't going to change - I think we are stuck in a never ending battle. Last time we were there she dragged me to Next and made me pick out outfits. Then refused to buy them all and bought something different that DD doesn't even like. But this is the woman who told DD at 4 days old that she hoped her Mummy dressed her in nicer clothes the next time she visited so I don't even feel guilty about donating the gifts!

@IVEgottheDECAF I like the ocarro but it is big and heavy. I think we're going to go for the cybex balios denim. A little lighter and a nice one hand fold and recline.

Stroan · 19/04/2019 11:49

@dustydoorframes a manager called me back a ms after going round in circles for a while they eventually refunded the full price and said I could wash it! Can't complain too much, but getting stinky clothes is disgusting.

OP posts:
GemmaJen · 19/04/2019 11:52

@Stroan that's a result, but getting stinky clothes is really not on. I haven't looked at matalan maternity yet. I'm starting to need to look at tops and vests. Hoping that lidl will have some nice ones in next week 🤞

April88 · 19/04/2019 13:32

We just went to John Lewis and had one of their free nursery appointments where they go through what you might need and you can try out all the pranks with their help.

It really helped us first timers! Think we’ve decided on the Joolz Geo pram
