Prams not prank!

BBell2 · 19/04/2019 14:29

My MIL and mum have both got us some lovely things with DD new and second hand I agree with previous poster about nearly new sales ....but MILs best mate buys her items for birthday, Christmas that are bizarre, even MIL who I dont always get on with will say somethings a bit shocking. You cant win them all!

Lavellan · 19/04/2019 17:22

@Stroan matalan pissed me off a bit too. I ordered leggings and dungarees and they confirmed the order and then last minute in the delivery email said the dungarees were actually out of stock. Bit annoying as I could have gotten leggings anywhere. They are very comfy at least!

KnobJockey · 19/04/2019 18:46

@DustyDoorframes yes, I'm a clothes fan! I don't know if I'm just teasing myself by not finding out what I'm having or limiting the damage!

KnobJockey · 19/04/2019 18:51

I popped into a pram shop earlier, and now I'm more confused. We did like: babyjogger city select lux, oyster 3, egg pram. However, we want something not massive that we can take for a dog walk. They've said all that I like are not great for anything more than a walk in the park! And basically I should get a bugaboo fox, but I don't like the carrycot. They didn't have the icandy or the uppababy in store, which I like the look of, so no answer as to whether they were any good.

Megan2018 · 19/04/2019 19:04

@KnobJockey
I need off road and my list to view is:

Quinny Buzz Extra
Jane Crosswalk r or Trider
Maxi Cosi Nova
Mamas and Papas Ocarro
Bugaboo Chameleon
iCandy Peach All-terrain

Stroan · 19/04/2019 19:25

@lavellan that's annoying, especially when delivery is pricey. That was my frustration, they wanted me to return and re-order, paying two lots of delivery. So stupid.

Urggghh, serious insomnia tonight. Been awake since 2.30. Just had to go and eat babybels as stomach rumbling away.
I’ve not had much appetite of late but the last 24hrs am starving!!

GemmaJen · 20/04/2019 07:46

@Megan2018 I feel your pain, our fire alarm decided to play up at 3 in the morning, giving us an intermittent alarm every 20mins. It's blummin loud! Biggest problem is we have so many alarms and we couldn't figure out which one it was 😫 I'm exhausted, but I suppose we'll have to get used to night time wake up calls soon anyhow 🙈

IVEgottheDECAF · 20/04/2019 08:02

Sorry to hear of disturbed nights! Funnily enough i slept from 11 to 7 without even going to the loo! Dd (6) came in to us at 7 and i managed to keep her in bed with us until 730 when she demanded food and ds (2) woke up.

In other news i stupidly went in the kitchen nibbled an easter egg and then had to run to be sick. Wont be doing that again.

Yesterday i looked at the baby clothes in Tesco. It was disappointing and i left with one pack of plain white vests! But i loved some of the girls stuff. Damn. I have since ordered a few bits from Next including a nice pram suit from the sale! Also found some blue mothercare sleepsuits on Amazon which claim to be terry ones. This is the only place i have found terry sleepsuits that are not plain white or pink!

Cannot make any pram decisions. Argh! What do i want?

Littlehouseinthebigcity · 20/04/2019 08:08

Thinking about buggies - is there anyone else with another little one deciding what to do? I currently have the cossatto wow and really like it. But my 18month old dd still has two naps atm so still uses it out and about even though she's a good little walker! Trying to decide if I can get away with using a mix of buggy board for her and sling for baby, or whether I'll need a new buggy!

IVEgottheDECAF · 20/04/2019 08:13

littlehouse i have been looking at the wow! Good to see you like it!

Dd will be about 2 in sept then is that right? How much do you use the pram? Do you drive? I dont drive so use a pram lots, if i had that age gap i would get a double. Our youngest will be nearly 3 in sept and i am going with pram plus buggy board and some sling thing incase he needs to go in the pram. At only 2 your dd might not like a buggy board.

DustyDoorframes · 20/04/2019 09:07

@Littlehouseinthebigcity remember that things change a lot in a few months, I'd hold off deciding for now. You could always see if you can borrow a buggy board in August to see if your eldest-to-be likes it at that point (or have a go when you are out with a friend who uses one). It also massively depends on how comfortable you are with slings- I've never used a buggy before 7-8 months for instance, so I wouldn't be looking at a double, I don't think.
However you do want to avoid your big one feeling that they've been turfed our of their comfy buggy in favour of the tiny interloper! In an ideal world you'd get to a point where the big one has left the buggy behind, there is a gap, then the little one takes it over (dream world, haha- but it's an argument for a double)

Fortheloveofscience · 20/04/2019 09:12

Megan I’ve been really suffering with insomnia too, last night was ok I was only up twice and went back to sleep quite quickly but the night before I got about 4 hours: woke at 12.30, then again just after 3 and didn’t get back to sleep again. If I’m awake I generally get hungry about 4.30 so keep biscuits by the bed.

I’ve started to suffer from swollen ankles and think my sleep is worse when I don’t wear compression socks for a bit before bed. Also when I’ve over-done it.

TheCraicDealer · 20/04/2019 12:51

Littlehouseinthebigcity if you like the wow cossato have their shuffle in their outlet section- it's basically a tandem buggy and the rear seat can be used from birth. Even if DD is reliable on a buggy board or whatever it's sometimes handy to have somewhere to contain them or let them nap if out and about, and handy to have for holidays or trips where you might be doing more walking than normal. If you can get a double for reasonable money (maybe a secondhand city mini?) I would get one.

IVEgottheDECAF · 20/04/2019 13:05

They also now have the wow xl but it is £££

KnobJockey · 20/04/2019 13:55

Well yesterday was just a tease- gorgeous weather, local derby Day, so literally almost every sane adult in the city was in the beer garden! It made me very jealous.

GemmaJen · 20/04/2019 17:04

How's everyone enjoying the bank holiday weekend? We've been gardening - finally planted the veg bed I've been wanting to do for ages and took the ponies out for the first time in an age. Perfect weekend do far 👌😎🌞

TheCraicDealer · 20/04/2019 18:02

We've had a brilliant day actually. We had some lovely pastries in a local patisserie, then off to mothercare and some decorating places to look at paint colours for the nursery (and DH was actually enthusiastic which was lovely). Got myself a clevamama apron towel in TK Maxx for £9 and now having a Mexican. Best meal I've had since getting pregnant!

Going to hang out with our neighbours when we get back, although I'll be well jel because they've got a hot tub I can't go near!

Megan2018 · 20/04/2019 18:06

Been for lovely rides yesterday and today, same again Sunday and Monday. Had a sit and read in the garden in the sun then the FIL and step-MIL came over for cake and we managed 2hrs of civility (DH is low contact).
So far, very relaxing! Not many chores to do which is nice.
Avoiding shops until after scan on Weds.

Whisky2014 · 20/04/2019 19:28

GemmaJen ive also been out planting seeds! Had a bbq and a nice walk. Lovely

TwittleBee · 20/04/2019 19:34

Such a beautiful day ey? We had a lovely bbq too.

Only issue here is I've only felt baby move 3 times today, usually it be about 12 times by now. Yesterday he barely moved too. DH is telling me not to bother phoning triage though as it's not like they can stop or reverse anything though... and he pointed out I had a few days of reduced movement with DS too.

Whisky2014 · 20/04/2019 19:45

I had thay last week twittle but since then there's been loads of movement. Try not to worry

TwittleBee · 20/04/2019 19:51

It's hard not to though isn't it Whisky ? I know they say to call straight away if there's been any change but seems like it might be extreme, especially early on

Whisky2014 · 20/04/2019 20:00

Yeh it is hard. I think though because the feeling isn't so strong maybe I just don't feel movements even if they are happening? But if you are worried i wpuld just call up.
