stroan I’m questioning my sanity having number 3 Confused
I’m the same with my Dd - preschool is literally my saving grace. If we had to spend all day every day together, our relationship would be explosive purely because we are way too similar!

happydays00 · 07/02/2019 19:23

Oh gosh I couldn't even consider having another if DD wasn't in Nursery 3 days a week. She went through an awful phase of tantrums recently (lying on the floor in supermarkets screaming, trying to swipe everything off the shelves in rage). Luckily those have calmed down and in hindsight probably coincided with a molar coming through but I would just sit and cry if I had a newborn as well and she was behaving like that.

Stay strong - they certainly know how to test us!!

@MyBreadIsEggy if it's any consolation all my friends with 3 said the jump was 2-3 was a breeze. It was the jump from 1-2 which was a shock (but I'm ignoring that for now!)

Hsunshine · 07/02/2019 20:27

In March there’s a baby show when I’ll be 14 weeks, do you think it’s too early to buy anything?

abi2790 · 07/02/2019 20:41

Solidarity ladies. Dd(3) is driving me mad lately! Wednesday and Thursday are the two days she's not in nursery and she drives me absolutely mental! Ds(6) I can deal with because he's at school everyday 🤦‍♀️😂

LaBelleSausage · 08/02/2019 05:41

@Hsunshine it’s totally up to you. DH is superstitious so when we were having DS he wouldn’t even have a pram in the house and other than one outfit after the 20 week scan, we really didn’t get anything until the third trimester.

There’s absolutely no reason why you can’t go though! If nothing else you’ll get a load of free samples of bottles, wipes, snacks etc and get to have a look at some prams and nursery furniture etc.
Actually I think the most useful thing is seeing the prams and changing bags that people are actually going around using rather than the ones on display

KLane · 08/02/2019 07:55

@Hsunshine Definitely go! You don't need to buy anything but it's the best chance to test prams, slings and look at car seats. No store has as good of a selection. Plus- loads of freebies! Go early or late though. Otherwise you're queuing to try on a sling 🙄

Cheekychimp1 · 08/02/2019 08:18

I found out I was pregnant at xmas and bought about 4 xmas baby outfits for xmas 2019 in the Next sale. Couldn’t resist and saw it as saving money as literally a few quid! It’s whatever you’re comfortable with I guess.
I have first 12 week scan in 2weeks and literally desperate to tell people now!

Florencenotflo · 08/02/2019 08:22

I've got my 12 week scan next Sunday. I'll probably start buying a few bits each week after that. It's mainly to spread the cost and I'm not going to go mad. Depending on what we have, I've kept all of DD's stuff so I'll either need to do a boot fair or a tonne of washing 😂

I'll probably start adding a pack of nappies to the shopping every couple of weeks though, different brands and sizes etc it'll just be handy to have a little stock come September.

stroan · 08/02/2019 08:38

It wouldn’t have bothered me to have stuff at around 14 weeks, I wasn’t superstitious. We didn’t because we were in the middle of
Buying a house but I’d done all the research and decided what to get!

We bought a babygro on the day of our 12 week scan for baby to come home in (didn’t fit, but the thought was there!). I had a weird thing in my head that I wanted to buy the first item of clothing before family got overexcited.

happydays00 · 08/02/2019 08:48

I won't buy anything else until after the 20 week scan. I think it's a completely personal preference though and whatever you feel comfortable with. My mum was 😱 that we wanted to pick up the pram before the baby was born, she is so superstitious!

TwittleBee · 08/02/2019 08:51

yeah nappy shopping in advance was super handy with DS Florencenotflo found the cost easier now rather than when on mat leave

Hello all! This is getting all very exciting with 12 week scans coming up! 😊

Mine is in 2 weeks. But my booking appointment is also then- is that late? Sorry, this is my first so not sure!

I haven’t bought anything yet, apart from a pair of maternity jeans: my current pair couldn’t cope with the bloating! Hmm

Karigan195 · 08/02/2019 09:59

I’m 11 weeks today (confirmed by private scan during NIPT) but my nhs 12 week scan isn’t until the 25.2.19. By which time I’ll be 13 +3. Seems very late to me!

TwittleBee · 08/02/2019 10:13

someone stop me, I have eaten half a packet of S&V pringles in past half hour with no signs of stopping...

Crashbumpthud hello! hmmm will you be actually 12 weeks? Always surprised at how late some areas seem to leave booking apps as I am sure some blood tests need to be done prior 10 weeks but maybe they have ruled you out needing those already!

Karigan As long as you are seen before 14 weeks you will be fine! If you are worried you can ring up and see if they can get you in earlier?

Megan2018 · 08/02/2019 10:19

@Crashbumpthud
My booking apt was at 6+1 but I don't think it matters - everywhere does it differently it seems! My NHS scan is at 12+1 based on my dates. I have NIPT at 10+3 so that might change dates anyway.

MyBreadIsEggy · 08/02/2019 10:25

DH had to “pop” into work this morning although he was meant to be on annual leave. He left at 8, was only going to be half hour, and was supposed to be bringing me a cheese and bacon turnover Hmm
I’m more mad about the absent food than the absent husband Hmm

Florencenotflo · 08/02/2019 12:10

@MyBreadIsEggy d LTB if I were you 😂 that's not fair!

I asked DH to pick up mozzarella on his way home the other night. He got grated hard mozzarella, I wanted the squishy ball type. Bless him, he did go back out for me. I don't remember being this fussy when I was pregnant with dd. But I really fancied it, nothing else would do.

On a slightly TMI note, I picked up some prune juice this morning hoping it would help with the constipation. It's fucking disgusting 🤢 nearly made me vomit just smelling it. So I'm trying a glass of orange juice each morning and actually brought all bran. I thought it was only old people that ate that 😂 hoping that those two and extra water will help!

Karigan195 · 08/02/2019 12:11

Grapes, raisins and apple juice work a treat :)

Megan2018 · 08/02/2019 12:18

@Florencenotflo
I have been eating a whole ball of mozzarella before bed. Seems to stave off hunger/nausea a treat! Shame I’ll end up looking like one!

Florencenotflo · 08/02/2019 12:41

Thanks@Karigan195 I will add some raisins!

@Megan2018 I was picking a bit of mozzarella off, putting pesto on it and eating it. If I could do that every day I would 😂

MyBreadIsEggy · 08/02/2019 12:49

To top it off, he’s now come down with a tragic case of man flu Hmm
Wasn’t too ill too go to work, or to do the preschool run, but is now dying. He’s taken himself off to bed because he’s got a sniffle Hmm

Teddie1 · 08/02/2019 13:07

For all the ladies with constipation I hear you! Ive been stuffing my face with prunes, grapes, OJ etc. Tried lactulose but wow its gross, and not really sure it helps much :( the doctor suggested suppositories Blush bit freaked out but the bloat and discomfort is really getting me down!

Speaking of other things getting me down - I have a never ending hunger. For all the beige, naughty things. Cheese, bread, pasta, crisps. My portion sizes are increasing as well as my frequency of eating. I can see most of you are the same! how the hell do you not put on like 20 stone in pregnancy??? Ive been slim and active all my life but now i feel like a hungry slug with no energy and will power!

Megan2018 · 08/02/2019 13:09

I still have opposite to constipation! Started before BFP too, not rushing to loo but definitely of the loose type! Blush

Fortheloveofscience · 08/02/2019 13:12

8 weeks today and the first day that eating doesn’t seem to be stopping the nausea, I just throw up any time I smell something funny (which is most things). No idea what the best way is of dealing with this.

Easterbuns1 · 08/02/2019 13:35

@Florencenotflo prune juice and prunes in general are just vile! I tried it last time and couldn't stomach it at all. I'm having fresh orange every morning and I'm back on the bran flakes now I can manage breakfast again. Home made veg and lentil soups help too!

My sickness seems to have left the building at 9+4, still exhausted / constipated /dizzy / bad tempered but no more throwing up yay!
