August 2019 4: All the scans and hopefully the end of nausea

Hi all

Welcome to the new thread. The list of names is HUGE! It might be a better idea to start a new list after 12 week scans so we have up to date due dates. It also allows those who have bad news but don't want to share it to leave quietly if they so wish.

I don't even have a scan date! Hurry up and end first trimester.

16 week mw appointment for me today. Was pretty uneventful, apart from hearing the heartbeat which was lovely. Didn't see my actual community midwife again because she was sick so I won't meet her until 31 weeks now!!

JCAC16 · 22/02/2019 16:36

@ScotsBaby2 and @EverythingNow - I did the class, thought it was really good. The only problem is that it was a taster lesson, and I don't think I can afford to do them regularly :( might have to try and find online videos or something.
@Bakingbean congrats on your boy! I never thought I'd want to find out, but now I'm pregnant I can't wait for my 20 week scan and to know.

keebo · 22/02/2019 17:55

Without wanting to sound like a meanie, I'm reassured that others still have 1st trimester woes, though I hope they stop for all of us soon! I'm also going to do some yoga but round me they just do 6 wk courses for after 14wks and the next one isn't til June. Meanwhile this has been recommended by several people www.amazon.co.uk/Nadia-Narain-Pregnancy-Yoga/dp/B00UTJX8E2. It's only £9 so quite a bargain too.

RaindropsRoses · 22/02/2019 17:57

ABearandABump I'm not fussed either way and would quite like a surprise this time but dp wants to know so I expect we will find out.

I'm the opposite way with the 🍆 atm haha. Keep having cough dreams too Blush

I did yoga last time and would love to again but unfortunately they've stopped that class now which is annoying. The only other options are travel to the next town which I really can't be bothered to do or there's one on a Thursday morning which she tried to convince me work should let me have off as "antenatal". Feel like thats taking the p, especially as I'm only in 3 days!

Kcjoe · 22/02/2019 23:00

@RaindropsRoses my work maternity policy says that time off for antenatal includes pregnancy yoga etc. Not just midwife/scan appointments x

emma1224 · 23/02/2019 00:55

Oooo I can see loads of boys, could defo be boy season!
Had my first midwife app this week but not with my usual one as she is on holiday been told I'll see her next at 25 weeks as it's first baby , that's normal I'm guessing lol
17 weeks today and booked in yoga for my 20th week after my scan!

I have a scan on Monday as I'm high risk, can I be cheeky and ask them if they can tell the gender as I really can't wait any longer!!

Can see some people still feeling abit rubbish, I'm with that club HOWEVER it's not so constant now and I feel like I'm handling it a lot better 🤞🏻🤞🏻

PinkLady89x · 23/02/2019 11:47

@RaindropsRoses about the cm... I had some weird thick stuff come out a couple of weeks back and was convinced it was part of my plug 😱. Since then I've had none of it and I haven't had any problems. I have noticed more cm than normal but particularly during 🍆. It's a bit gross!

We are going to find out the gender but we want to do a little reveal gathering with family so might get one of those cakes made up! I have a feeling it's a girl but as long as it's healthy I really don't mind 😊

RaindropsRoses · 23/02/2019 13:12

For anyone with prime membership there's a good pregnancy yoga course on there free to watch too, can't remember the name now sorry but if you search it will come up.

ScotsBaby2 · 23/02/2019 19:51

@ABearandABump we aren't finding out. We didn't last time either.

@keebo I'm feeling super rough at 15 weeks. No sickness until a couple of weeks ago and now feel shit from 3pm-10am most days. Boobs now sore. Tiredness is still there too. It's totally crap.

I've succumbed to pregnancy brain....

I was making dinner and put the pan in the oven- wearing oven gloves- one hand on the pan handle, one hand on the lid.. came back to a strange smell.. some how I had left the oven glove holding the lid in the oven and cooked it with the pan... luckily it didn't melt or catch fire! Oops.

emma1224 · 23/02/2019 22:35

@ScotsBaby2 what am I doing wrong 😩

August 2019 4: All the scans and hopefully the end of nausea
ABearandABump · 23/02/2019 23:08

@Bakingabean I've been the same. I've been getting words all jumbled up in sentences or not using the correct word. It's lucky my colleagues know I'm a bit of a ditz at the best of times so I seem to be getting away with it from those who don't know!

What pregnancy app is everyone using? (except MN ofc!)

X

Bakingabean · 24/02/2019 08:06

@ABearandABump I've been getting words wrong at work too! (More than normal!)

I've got the Flo app in pregnancy mode but tbh it's not that great so I wouldn't bother. Also Ovia pregnancy which is ok (and free I think), I like the weekly updates about size and development and some of the articles are ok. There are probably better ones out there though.

Much prefer my book which is day by day and more sciency.

ScotsBaby2 · 24/02/2019 21:40

@emma1224 I don't know 🤔 I've sent you a pm.

ScotsBaby2 · 24/02/2019 21:44

@ABearandABump I was using Ovia but it kept giving me unwanted advice like the picture. I want chocolate and crisps!

Hey everyone has anyone tried hypnobirthing ? A friend has been recommending it I'm a bit unsure and its quite pricey but was interested to know what others thought

Also anyone have experience of doing NCT and whether it was useful? Just woke up from a pregnancy dream - in labour but baby would not come out - hope it's not a prediction lol! x

Jokie · 25/02/2019 06:27

@ss3ajb: I did it with my first as we get no sort of pain relief here so it was my only shot at relief! I think you really have to be strong mentally to make it work and be strong enough to go above the pain.

QueenofFox · 25/02/2019 11:52

@ss3ajb I did hypnobirthing with both mine. I didn't do a course, I just downloaded effective birth preparation with Maggie Howells and listened to it at home in the last trimester. I also listened to it on headphones during birth which really helped focus my mind on what I learned. I had no pain relief at all either time which I credit to hypnobirthing, one of which was a home birth. it is amazing what the mind can do. Hoping to be lucky with a straightforward birth this time too.

Am tempted to do a course or yoga or not this time as it will be my last. Haven't been able to afford any of these things before and wondered if I should try this last time although you meet so many people in baby groups, none of them are needed for social things.

milly2000 · 25/02/2019 13:21

Hi all,

I'm now 16 weeks and have a gender scan on Saturday so wishing this working weeks away!

I'm now showing I would say, I'm now in under bump maternity jeans, and thinking about getting a couple of T-shirt's as all mine are on the shorter side.

I'm a bit worried because some women at work who have had babies are telling me I'm early to be showing at all? I'm little anyway really, size 8, but no way would I fit in my old jeans. Am I normal? Or this early?! People have got me worried, this is my first pregnancy so I have no idea.

sunshine1987 · 25/02/2019 13:30

@milly2000 everyone’s different, so wouldn’t listen to them, I’m showing at 16 weeks xx

milly2000 · 25/02/2019 13:31

Thanks @sunshine1987 I feel like some people really do like to have there say when you haven't asked for it 🙄🙈

sunshine1987 · 25/02/2019 13:37

@milly2000 definitely, it’s like as soon as you say you’re pregnant everyone has something to say 🤦🏻‍♀️

ss3ajb · 25/02/2019 14:05

@milly2000 I'm showing at 16 weeks it's my first baby - I feel like I have had to hide at points bring pregnant everyone has so many opinions and advice to give - as long as you feel well you are fine and its cute to have a bump 🥰

Wizzywazzywoo · 25/02/2019 14:37

@milly2000 I really wouldn't worry I was showing from around 14 weeks with my first. Everyone is different. Now I'm pg with no2 I've been showing for weeks. Now 14+3. Also having our gender scan on Saturday. Soo excited!
