Have I started a new thread?

I think you can but the over sheets are very thin and we had to add a blanket. Our son doesn't have a duvet atm as he's a hot sweaty boy too! He's 3.4 and getting a little big for it...

MrsFish · 13/07/2007 12:54

Pheebe - Its just his head that gets so sweaty at the moment, He has a thin duvet on, and every time I check him I take it off, but he always puts it back on. I guess I ought to take it off his bed altogether at the moment and just put a sheet on, it seems he likes to be covered... never used to though, always had trouble keeping the cover on

muppetgirl · 13/07/2007 12:55

that explains the hot and sweatiess of him pheebe!

We have a sheet then a waffle blanket (from John Lewis single bed size) then if we think he needs it a fleecy blanket on top. He throws it all off if he's too hot!

OP posts:
Pheebe · 13/07/2007 12:57

There's always some sleep issue with em eh . At least they are sleeping now!

Jack gets sweaty all over, especially when he decides to sleep head first down under his duvet with a sheet or blanket he's pulled out of the draw We may have to start showering him in the mornings soon too.

Anyway, how long does it take to fit a bathroom carpet??? He's been here for nearly 2 hours now

Pheebe · 13/07/2007 13:00

Muppet, DS is surgically attached to his duvet he WILL NOT let me replace it with a sheet tried whipping it off him in the night but he wakes up and whinges he's too cold

muppetgirl · 13/07/2007 13:03

lol pheebe, my friends son is just the same!!
He's bright red and sweaty but won't let go of the duvet. He even still insists on wearing his winter toweling pj's!!
She just can't get him out of them

OP posts:
MrsFish · 13/07/2007 13:29

Same with ds its obviously a boy thing. I might try taking the duvet out of the cover for tonight

Apricott · 13/07/2007 15:21

Afternoon all

As usual checking in to say hi and try to keep up with everything. Took the day off work yesterday cos dh's friend from NZ was visiting us, so I wasn't on the computer at all. Had a lovely day despite the shockingly awful July weather. Then in the evening waved dd off on her school choir trip to Germany. She's not back next til wednesday.

Thanks Nellie for the bra tips - suspect Bravissimo might not help though, cos I'm only a B cup even now!

I got the 'are you sure it's not twins' comment only this week - from my mother of all people! Measured my bump - it's 40 inches and I'm 26+5. Is that big? I'll look on the stats thread.

I have a stretch mark ... and a varicose vein ... she say's hastily uncrossing her legs . Both these things are getting me down. But not badly. I'm also knackered because my terrible snoring last night kept both me and dh awake for what seemed like the entire night. Oh, the joys of pregnancy!

Sure there was something else I was going to say, but can't remember what it was now - yet another joy of pregnancy

A x

Giggling like a naughty teenager ... I've accidentally resurrected an old thread about a dog biting someone thinking it was the recent one about dogs off leads mentioned the other day...and oh deary me it seems to have set the ones from the overfilled dog off leads thread again.... oops! (giggle )

FloriaTosca · 13/07/2007 18:22

Hi apricott; glad you had a good day yesterday..sorry about the stretchmark and varicose vein...I've had the former since I was a fat teenager and havent got any new ones so far probably because my skin was so stretched for so long..and to tell the truth I'm relieved to hear I'm not the only one who has started snoring sorry, and commisserations...I hope you both soon get used to it..my dh has started bringing earplugs home from work! (he has to go into papermills where they have boxes full of the things by the door) so at least he gets some rest!

alicet · 13/07/2007 18:56

You ladies have been very chatty today!

Pheebe ? hope you have a fab holiday! If your ds is used to sleeping in his own bed I would put him in his own bed at the cottage too. If you?re worried he might fall out then maybe get a cot side? Or put the mattress on the floor? I guess the only other thing is if he goes wandering at night and could fall down stairs ? if so might be better to take his mattress and have him in with you. Sorry ? probably not helped much then have I?!!

Floria ? glad you had a better night?s sleep and didn?t feel tearful this am ? not a great start to the day I would imagine. I slept well too despite ds chattering at several points during the night apparently!

Muppet ? congrats to your mate ? yes wasn?t sure of his sex from the name either!

Winnie ? fingers crossed your dp is OK today. If he?s hit it hard enough to break that?s pretty hard! Thinking of you?.

MrsFish ? like you I think I look enormous ? just no idea where this baby is going to expand to as there doesn?t seem to be much room left! People always seem to look surprised when I tell them I?m not due till Oct!

Ejt ? sounds like you had a lovely day yesterday and also have lots of treats planned for today! Dead jealous! Hope you have a lovely time?.

Kitti ? it really annoys me when people are so brutal about your name choices. There are some close mates who I have asked to be brutally honest because I?m not sure about something but I wish others would keep their mouths shut! I?ve decided to stop talking about it to anyone other than close friends as we don?t really know yet ourselves and don?t need brief aquaintances to make it even harder!

Apricott ? glad you had a lovely day with your friend yesterday! Hope it makes up for todays ?discoveries?! Nothing glam about this pregnancy business is there!!!

Well I had a nice quiet day at work today and managed to leave early so was home by 4. Then dh and I took ds out for tea to a pub near us - it was great as it was pretty quiet so he could run around without irritating everyone else. Needless to say he wasn't interested in his veg but loved the chocolate brownie and icecrean!! Never mind eh - he has good taste! Dh and I were chatting about getting him into good food habits - I think a little of naughty stuff is a good thing and stops it becoming too much of a treat - and he eats healthily at home and nursery. The only sweet things he usually has is yogurt or fruit. I'd be interested in how some of you with older dc's manage this?

Might be on later but if not enjoy your weekends and hope you manage a good night's sleep!

j20baby · 13/07/2007 19:47

H guys, just popping in to say hello, not been feeling too great the last couple of days, been a bit down in the dumps, hope your all ok and will post when i've got something constructive to say

MrsFish · 13/07/2007 20:15

Oh my, I'm having a hot flush and my ankles are swollen! Its not even as if its hot and its been raining here all day.

On a plus side I have my outfit and accessories all ready for the wedding I'm going to in August. God knows what I am going to look like by then though

MrsFish · 13/07/2007 20:16

Hope you are feeling better soon J20 x

WinnieThePooh · 13/07/2007 20:58

Thanks for the messages for DP. His elbow is still really sore and very badly swollen. If it is still really painful tomorrow, he will go to A & E, (or as he said, he will take it to hospital) but hopefully the swelling will have gone down a bit.

Hope you feel better soon J2O.

I hope everyone else is ok too.

think I might have an early night tonight. Won't be on much this weekend as my parents will be here tomorrow and then I am WALKING the reace for life on sunday and going to a summer party at one of DP's colleagues.

TRy to to be to chatty please. If you do start a new thread, PLEASE post a link in this one.

Have a good weekend evevryone.

alicet · 13/07/2007 21:05

J20 ? sorry to hear you?re feeling rotten. Big big hugs winging their way to you!!!

MrsFish ? glad you got your outfit sorted! Sure you?ll look gorgeous! We have several weddings this summer ? I bought a fab pink dress from Isabella oliver and I?m really pleased with it!

Winnie ? sorry dp?s elbow is still sore. I would go to A&E sooner rather than later if its still really swollen esp as he hit the banisters hard enough to break them. The reason I say that is that if its broken its sometimes better to fix it with an operation sooner rather than later to prevent problems later. It may well not be broken in which case they?ll be able to put your mind at rest?.

Well my maclaren twin techno pushchair has arrived. I was really happy with it in the shop but it seems a right pain in the a*se to collapse and put up. Any hints from maclaren owners? Will have to play with getting it in and out of our front door when its less wet?..

TheLadyEvenstar · 13/07/2007 21:55

Elloooooooooooo I am still alive lol

Been having a mare of a week first I try to sign onto AOL to find that i can't get connection. Turns out Talk Talk have taken ouur BT acct without our knowledge ARGHHHHHHHHHHHH. So now to connect to AOL we are having to use dial up ewwwwwwww until the 30th. But at least I can connect lol.

Than yesterday take ds to school, head sends him off playground before he even gets near his line because he has black shoes on which have a flame on the side..(had them since easter) I go to heads office to explain I don't have money to buy him another pair of shoes now when only 4 days left until end of term. Head then smirks at me and shouts "Oh shall I go and buy him a pair of shoes so he has correct school uniform if you can't afford to raise him" .....I did no more than turn on my heel take ds by the hand and walk out of the school in tears. What annoys me is half the kids don't have correct school uniform but he is 9/10 singled out ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
Anyways today I wrote him a letter and still cannot bring myself to talk to him for fear of knocking him out lol. Even had to make DS phone school to say his jacket had been taken today as I am still furious.

Other than that have had a great week lmao

hope you are all well xxxxxxxxx

greedygreedyguzzler · 13/07/2007 22:05

mrs fish - i think your bump looks great! we should all do that and put pics up!

pheebe - i couldn't agree more about noisy blow up beds!!! my ds had one and we gave up using it after a few times! we just take the mattress off his toddler bed with us now1!

i saw my mw today and apparently my HUGE baby is now normal size for my dates! bit of a relief!!

have a great weekend all!

greedygreedyguzzler · 13/07/2007 22:09

theLES - HOW completely ridiculous of the head teacher when next week is the last week of term!!! sounds like a complete twat!!! maybe he could of said something to you about getting different ones for the start of next year, but not NOW!!! what a prick!!!

that has made me angry and i dont even know you and i certainly dont know him!!! hope you are feeling a bit better now anyway!

LES what a twat your ds's head sounds

muppetgirl · 13/07/2007 22:35

Hi all,
If anyone fancies a sanctamonious thread about b/f her it is

I really don;t usually get involved with these threads as I find the b/feeders to 'right on' and condescending to mothers who f/f. They forget there can be many reasons as to why a woman f/f's.

Sorry they have upset me by their bullying tone. Am off to bed now.
