LOL mrs fish at your dream! how totally random! I love some of the dreams I am having at the moment. Although there was one that unnerved me no end - I was having sex with my boss! I couldnt look him in the eye for a few days after that one! Lovely guy, but dont fancy him one iota.

Re. my list - thats just my feeding one! I found a great nursery shop and between the advice from them/ midwife and online reviews have arrived at my lists. Taken a while have to say! Glad you agree though. Have other topics too

ejt1764 · 12/07/2007 12:00

my list was very similar in terms of feeding - but I got reusable breast pads - I had disposable ones to start, but found them really uncomfortable - also had breast shells - you can pop them in the other side when you're feeding, and they catch the drips - I used to them decant the accumulated drips into an ice cube tray - once I got going, I was collecting about 1oz from them every feed!

I had a hand pump, but couldn't get on with it, so bought an electric one.

With bottles, I just bought the smallest size availabe in tesco, then experimented with teats.

Didn't bother sterilising with ds after a friend of mine who was working in the neonatal unit told me that they don't bother there! As long as the bottles are really clean, and then go through a dishwasher, there's no point.

Also bought a couple of cartons of ready-made formula - ds didn;t need it, but it was a reassurance for me to now it was there.

lisad123 · 12/07/2007 12:14

Hi All

Sorry didnt post earlier was madness yesterday. I had scan and LO is head down already, and all seems fine.
Doctor explained that he will continue to scan me but knows it might be an indictor of the placenta failing again as according to scan my dd was normal size. He will see me again in 2 weeks and scan again in 4 and then decide on how often they need to scan after that. Also going to discuss birthing plans next time too
LO's heart is a little ont he fast side but they will keep an eye on that too
Hope your all well today. i got to go and cuddle my friends baby yesterday and it brought back loads of things i forgot! so scary.

Lisa

MrsFish · 12/07/2007 12:16

I had my mw appt this morning, everything is normal and spot on, baby has head down, nestled snuggly she said, but he was heads down a couple of weeks ago, so it seems he is now settled for the duration.

Katsh · 12/07/2007 13:31

seem to recall when glancing at thread last week other people mentioned a re-occurrence of sickness at this stage. I'm nearly 27 wks and suddenly feeling as sick as I did in the early stages. Is is just tiredness, or does this happen? It didn't happen with my previous 2 so unpleasantly unexpected !

lisad123 · 12/07/2007 13:45

Really stupid question, how do you know when in labour? It was 4 years ago since i had dd, and although i got to 5cm with dd it was while i was in hospital and just felt funny.
I have been having some twinges the last 2 days, but dont kow if its just muscle pain from the spd or because i have a slightly upset tummy. I had a huge pain in my left side an hour ago that took my breath away but LO is kicking so not too paniced.
I rang midwife unit and they said go see doc coz of upset tummy.

Lisa

dal21 · 12/07/2007 13:47

Katsh - i read that from about week 26 - you start to get another surge of hormones that leave you feeling off kilter. I didnt feel great for a while, slept more and it passed. hope you feel better.

Katsh · 12/07/2007 13:54

Thanks dal21. So it's extra sleep that I need. Good thing the weekend is approaching

Katsh · 12/07/2007 13:56

Sorry lisad123, should have responded to yours too. I knew because of painful, regular contractions. I've spd and get a fair few pains, but I'm putting them down to ligament pain mostly. Hope you are ok, and the pains stop.

muppetgirl · 12/07/2007 14:31

If anyone fancies a condescending thread by the 'ladies' of mnet here's a good one.
this one

Xenia is also a fav of mine -she loves to inflame...

Lisa -I was induced so can;t talk of 'real' labour.

My friend has texted that she's had her show and little trickles and mild pains but has been sent home.

EJT _ I read the fisrt thread before it got deleated (the one about the employer) and it was pretty amazing, this one was set up in response and was, at first, quite light hearted but then turned -as they all do!

FloriaTosca · 12/07/2007 15:58

Good grief! Just had a quick look through some of the threads reccommneded. Some of these people! I wonder if they are sweetness and light in RL and just come on MN to let out the poisinous side of their natures?!!!!
Thank goodness we have the nice ones here...and thank you allfor your support yesterday....I tried the cuddle up to DH last idea night but LO decided that kicking me in the side was more fun that booting daddy in the back...ho hum..it was worth a try I'm probably down because I only have 2 weeks to change DHs mind....I'm fine most of the time because I know that statistically there is a 90% chance that everything is ok...its just the 10% haunts my dreams and has me waking unrested and in tears.
Greedy; ditto on the oh so funny I'm going to split my sides "are you sure its not twins?" comments....well they havent spotted so much as an extra toe in there in 8 scans so I very much doubt it!
Lisa; glad all is ok so far and that they are keeping a close eye on you
Hi everyone else [smiles & waves]

WinnieThePooh · 12/07/2007 16:54

Afternoon everyone.

REgarding my size,I get the opposite. I get "are you sure your pregnant?" I think it is because I am so big up top that they hide the bump, and the fact that I was overweight before getting pregnant that I have not put on much weight at all. I have only put on about 3lbs at most.

I had my MW appointment this afternoon and got the bump measured. Top to bottom it is 30.5 which is rather big for almost 28 weeks. Not too worried though as when I was expecting DD1, the consultant scared me at 32 weeks by saying that my bump was too big and I would need a CS. I obviously carry high up and am also just under 5 feet tall.

I go on to fortnightly MW visits now, so DD will be able to come to the next one as she breaks up for the summer friday next week.

Sorry for not responding to all the posts, but I can't remember who has said what. I have a terrible memory at the best of times.

I hope everyone else is well.

MrsFish · 12/07/2007 22:19

Where is everyone today, I can't believe no one has posted since 4pm ish

alicet · 12/07/2007 22:57

Pheebe ? Cheers for posting on my thread! Haven?t had a chance to check out your comments yet but will do so shortly! I love your idea for a thread too!

Dal21 ? I can second ejt that the reusable breast pads are much more comfortable, not much more expensive and not that much of a hassle to wash. I had a few disposables to keep in my change bag in case of emergencies but the reusable ones were great

Lisa ? glad scan went well and they?re keeping a close eye on things for you!

Hello to everyone else - haven't got a chance to catch up properly as I have been out for dinner at a friends house and left a good hour later than intended! A lovely evening but shattered now. Was going straight to bed too but bloody cat escaped when I was coming in! Will go and bribe him back now...

Catch up with you tomorrow ladies xxx

alicet · 12/07/2007 23:04

Pheebe - just read your comments on the M&B spaces - nice one! Lost the will to write any more on that really and think those of you that said its not worth getting ratty about it are spot on. Those who are so quick to belittle me clearly have such tiny little lives I should be sorry for them not cross!

Pheebe · 13/07/2007 07:44

Morning everyone

Alice, it seems to me that the AIBU threads are just a melting pot for nasty small minded people to vent whatever pent up agression they have that they can't vent in RL. You just don't seem to get the same reaction (usually) in threads under other topics. It might have been someone on this thread but I read somewhere that it could be kids posting just to wind people up, alot of the attitudes expressed do seem extremely juvenile.

We're off on hols to north norfolk tomorow and the computers going in to be fixed so I won't be around for a few days. Stay safe an happy everyone - and perhaps avoid the AIBU threads

phee

FloriaTosca · 13/07/2007 08:05

Good Morning All (waves sleepily)
Not as bad a night as the last three, only woke once for my gaviscon fix and bathroom break and didnt wake in tears!yahoo!

I tried to post again yesterday but RL got in the way..the phone kept ringing or people came to the door and DH came home early... how very dare they interrupt my MN!
Winnie: happy to hear that all is going well, the 3 lb! My slimming world friends keep laughing about the 19lb (so far ) that I'll have to get rid of when this is all over..you're going to be one of those yummy mummies we all read about but haven't actually met!!!

Another wet and miserable day outside, so I think I might surprise DH and paint the study (hopefully to become the nursery) he's spent the last week stripping it, putting in new plug sockets, repairing plaster work, sanding and painting wood work and last night finished lining papering it.... or do you think having done all the hard work he'd prefer to finish it off himself?

muppetgirl · 13/07/2007 08:15

MOrning all

Very tired this morning my friend had her baby at 11.15 last night on her due date!!

(She texted at 2.38am.....)

The baby was 3.6kg (??)
apparently nearly 8lb and the baby's name is Oisin.

(did you have the same reaction as me??)

I then had to text a friend to ask whether it was a boy or girl as I couldn;t tell from the name!!

Apparently it's aboys name she's irish so we all knew it would be an irish name but i still couldn;t figure it out.

Hi all, just to make you even more I weighed myself this morning and I have actually LOST 2.5lbs since getting pregrant.

Did not sleep too well last night. Dp got up at 3.30am for the loo, but no paper in there. Went to the main bathroom to get some but turned round when he got to the door and asked me to get it. He has poor balance when just woken at the best of times and this was no different. He midjudged where the bannister was and walked into the newel post at the top of the stairs(thankfully he did not fall down the stairs, then fell backwards and banged his elbow on the Dyson. Needless to say neither of us got much sleep after that. He told me this morning that he though he had old got half way along the landing, can't remember banging into the bannister, but does remember falling down.

His elbow looked bruised this morning and was painful to move too far. so getting dressed was a bit difficult. I noticed this morning that when he banged into the banister, he has actually broken one of the posts. i am surprised his knee is not hurting too.

I have not had a phone call saying that it is too bad to drive so here's hoping he is OK.

I should really be getting housework done this morning, but am so tired I think I will go back to bed for a bit.

I hope everyone else is well and has a good day.

MrsFish · 13/07/2007 09:51

WTP - I have put 2 stone on so far, and that is with being overweight to start with

I wake up every morning with the will to have a good healthy day, but it never ends up that way. Oh well only have myself to blame

Got DH to take a pic of my belly a few days ago at 28 weeks, can't believe I have another 12 weeks growth to go

Hope you have a good day. We were out last night and Ds didn't go to bed till 10.30 which is very rare... he is still in bed though which is great as I have managed to get some stuff done in peace this morning.

FloriaTosca · 13/07/2007 10:00

Winnie; (sticks tongue out at 2.5lb loss!!) but sorry for your DH (ouch! wincing emoticon)Have a nice extra sleep...the house work wait..no one but you notices when its been done anyway...my DH only ever notices when things have been tidied to mimimalist standards and seems to think bathrooms clean themselves!
Muppet; congratulations to your friend...(I'm sure you were thrilled to get texted at 2.30! ) Oisin? Interesting...do you know how it is pronounced? Oy-sin or Oh-sin or something incredibly gaelic like Ooshun?

muppetgirl · 13/07/2007 10:07

I think it's ow (as in row) sheen (?)

Only becasie roisin is pronounced rowsheen.

I'll have to see when she tells me.

Nice to know though ladies you can have a straightforward birth, I mean I don't kow the details yet but she texted me at 12 ish to say she'd had a show/trickles and was having a few pains. She had him at 11.15pm so not bad by all accounts.

weightloss ... the last time I weighed myself (and I have put the scales somewhere inaccessible!) I had already put on 28lbs ... and that was at least 2 weeks ago!
Mind you, I know I've lost it once (had just got down to my target weight when I got pg) - so I know I'll be able to do it again!

muppetgirl - I know an Oisin! It's pronounced Oh-sheen ... mind you, everybody knows him by his surname!

MrsFish - I read somewhere (can't remember where), that you get so that you don't believe that your belly can possibly expand anymore - then when you look at the calendar, you're only at about 7 months! I think I've reached that stage already (mind you, see weightgain above!) and I'm only 28 weeks too!

Winnie - poor you and dh with your night-time shenanigans!

I had acupuncture yesterday, and felt great, then went out to see some friends (was only out 'til 7pm as a lot of the people I work with live in Swansea, and commute to Cardiff every day!) It was lovely to see them - we had tea - and I had mussels in a white wine sauce! And do you know what? They were bl00dy delicious!

And, to top it all, they didn't give me indigestion!

Am having my waxing and pedicaure done today - cannot reach my toenails to so it myself!

Have a good day everybody!

ejt1764 · 13/07/2007 10:14

oooh I did 900 messages ... we're going to have to think of (yet another) thread title!
