A list of those already on the bus. Welcome to newbies. It's the countdown to 12 week scans. I think I have nearly a month to wait though :-(

Sorry for a random question but my other wants to go McDonald's tomorrow because I've been moaning that I really want a mc chicken sandwich for days and days so he is getting me it for lunch
Can I have the sauce ?? Because I don't want it otherwise lol

Bakingabean · 18/01/2019 22:02

Thanks everyone, it's still weird seeing a small person in there! I told my sister by FaceTime (she lives in another country) and she was so excited! Showing her the pictures made it seem much more real..

Looking forward to seeing more scan pictures over the next month! It's really quite exciting!

@abearandabump Sorry to hear about your dad- glad he's getting better though.

Cobblestones · 19/01/2019 00:12

@bakingabean congrats on the scan! Lovely ❤️

QueenofFox · 19/01/2019 01:09

Thanks all! Congrats @Bakingabean what a great pic!
@ABearandABump sorry to hear about your dad.
@Spongeb0b there's been a spat of thirds at school but I think we'll deffo get that reaction among our friends and family who are going to think we're mad. They won't be expecting it at all. We'll be the only ones back in the new born phase and it will feel strange.

sacrecoeur0712 · 19/01/2019 06:08

@spongeb0b we have a lot in common, although I had to persuade my GP to test my thyroid this week as she’s convinced I won’t need a dosage increase until the second trimester Hmm

All being well this will be our third and my other two will be 9 & 6, so a pretty big age gap. Not intended but it took 4 years to conceive this pregnancy. We’d given up and got on with our lives so I think we’ll get quite a few raised eyebrows!

ScotsBaby2 · 19/01/2019 06:28

@emma1224 it'll all be fine at McDonald's

Hoping you ain't awake for the same reason as me 🤢

ScotsBaby2 · 19/01/2019 08:29

I'm going to LONDON BABY with my first MN group today so up early for train from Glasgow. I'm so excited.

Congratulations on the boy @QueenofFox glad the results mean good things too. @ABearandABump sorry about your dad. @Bakingabean lovely scan picture! Just had my booking appointment yesterday, should get my scan date in the post soon.
Re: third children, I'm only on #2 but I think it's very rude when people start questioning the number of or when you have children, and I'd probably say to anyone who said something. Perhaps I'm a little sensitive as #3 myself.
I was sick (as opposed to just retching) for the first time last night, but feel very normal this morning. Bit worried that means something is wrong, but hopefully my stomach is just happier having been sick? I'm 8+6 by LMP although probably really only 8+2

UnicornDust17 · 19/01/2019 09:02

Enjoy @ScotsBaby2 where are you headed? I still keep in touch with my first MN group too Grin

Ninunina · 19/01/2019 09:47

I'm so sorry to hear about your fathers heart attack @ABearandABump . Wishing him a full recovery xxx

There is a bit of an epidemic happening in Malta right now. My aunt has suspected swine flu, 9 out of 18 kids in DD's class are unwell, my colleagues have been coughing non-stop. I haven't had the flu shot, but I'm thinking that perhaps I should. For some reason they don't advise pregnant women to take it here. I wonder if it's a different shot. I'm particularly worried about the H1N1 swine flu. I haven't seen my aunt in 2 weeks, but I baby sat her granddaughter two days ago and she was running a fever (we didn't realise it might be swine flu at that point).

pixietheginger · 19/01/2019 10:25

@queenoffox congrats on the boy!

@bakingabean lovely scan pic! Still 2 weeks until mine, time seems to go so slow these days...

@ABearandABump hope your dad is recovering well

@Ninunina sorry to hear you are worried, are you able to get flue shot from your doc easily?

Hope everybody is doing well and have a good weekend! My exciting weekend plans include a blanket, a book and some netflix Grin

sacrecoeur0712 · 19/01/2019 11:50

@ninunina I wa pregnant with ds1 in 2009 at the height of the swine flu epidemic here. I chose to have the vaccine on the advice of my brother who’s a doctor. I was heavily pregnant and his concerns were to do with me labouring whilst ill with flu though, so don’t know if the advice would be different for the first trimester. A lot of my friends chose not to have the vaccine.

Kariana · 19/01/2019 11:53

@scotsbaby2 I sent you a pm about the FB group, did you get it?

@abearandabump sorry to hear about your dad, hope he's recovering well.

I sobbed my heart out this morning because I'm so sick of not being able to sleep. Surviving on 4 hours a night and utterly exhausted. Worried that I'm so tired I'm getting cramps because of it. The joys of early pregnancy!

LauraBrown1 · 19/01/2019 12:18

I know this has probably been posted before but i just wanna ask. Anyone due in August and had all their symptoms stop and not return? During week 6 I started feeling sick and had cramping everyday. I felt like I had a hangover on a morning but once I hit week 8 it all stopped and never returned. In a way I kind of miss it because it made me feel pregnant (I know it's odd) anyone else has this and is it normal?

ScotsBaby2 · 19/01/2019 12:23

Sorry @Kariana I did get it and then lost all memory of doing it. I'm doing it now.

Anyone else for the Facebook group? PM me your email address and I'll add you in.

@LauraBrown1 I have been having a similar thought today. I have had quite noticeable nausea since about week 5 and tbf that now comes and goes - last night I was actually sick for the first time. Today I've woken up and my boobs don't feel particularly sore at all and they've always been pretty noticeable. I had a reassurance scan on Thursday and everything was great for 8 weeks. Im now trying not to worry but it's so hard! When the symptoms are there you wish for them to ease a bit and then when they go, you worry that they aren't there! I don't know which I'd rather 😅. I do have a crazy sense of smell which I guess is a symptom that hasn't gone.
Maybe it's because I spelt for 13 hours last night and I'm actually feeling a bit better after a crazy week being a year 1 teacher 😂.

Curlywurlywoo · 19/01/2019 12:25

@LauraBrown1 quite a few ladies on this thread have had their symptoms disappear! I’ve not had any nausea at all, I saw my midwife this morning and I was saying how much I’m looking forward to having a scan because silly as it sounds without nausea it’s hard to believe there’s a baby in there! And she said there’s also women who have their nausea disappear and they worry that they aren’t pregnant anymore, but everyone’s different and most of the time there’s no need to worry, if that’s of any comfort to you 😊

LauraBrown1 · 19/01/2019 12:30

@Curlywurlywoo @PinkLady89x thank you now I feel more reassured 😊😊
Yeah it's really strange and since it's my first I really didn't know what to expect. People talking about morning sickness I visioned someone constantly throwing up and stuff like you see in the movies! I've had 2 work friends who were off work for the entire 9 months up to their baby being born because they said it was that bad so im just sitting there like 🤷🏼‍♀️ am I even pregnant haha

I must say I still get a bad head now and then on a morning as if I've been out partying the night before. But apart from that all is good x glad to hear others have experienced the same

Curlywurlywoo · 19/01/2019 12:43

@LauraBrown1 this is my first too! 😁 I did think I was going to have nausea at first as I felt sick for 5 minutes the day I took my test (which prompted me to test) but I had a small glass of wine with my dinner the night before so I guess it just didn’t agree with my pregnant body as no further nausea followed! sorry if you’ve already said but how far along are you? I have my scan this week coming and I’m so anxious!

ScotsBaby2 · 19/01/2019 12:44

@UnicornDust17 we are staying at Westminster Abbey (in a premier inn, not on the abbey floor) and then out for drinks and food in Soho.

@ninunina I would speak to a doctor asap. Flu can make you even more ill than normal in pregnancy. If you think you are already getting ill, I think tamiflu works better the sooner you take it, though not sure if you can take it in pregnancy.

LauraBrown1 · 19/01/2019 13:10

@Curlywurlywoo ah amazing!
Well I just started a thread actually this morning because midwife says I'm due 17 August which would make me 10 weeks but using the pregnancy calculator I would be 11 +2 today. My first scan is 5th feb... I cannot wait!!!! Eeeep! How about you, when is yours? 😊

Jokie · 19/01/2019 13:54

Hi everyone ! I'm back from my trip and struggling with nausea and lack of sleep. Will catch up with the thread but hope everyone is ok!

Curlywurlywoo · 19/01/2019 14:53

@LauraBrown1 well funny enough my midwife gave me a different due date to what I calculated myself! But I suppose baby will make an appearance when he or she is ready in the end Grin mine is this Thursday coming, I only got the appointment letter this week Blush! So excited and nervous at the same time, I’m just hoping all is ok Smile
