A list of those already on the bus. Welcome to newbies. It's the countdown to 12 week scans. I think I have nearly a month to wait though :-(

@KMic last time I got my scan appt in the post after booking in appt. I suspect the mw schedules it once you've had it

ScotsBaby2 · 03/01/2019 10:23

Can you get heated breast pads? My nipples are not coping with the cold.

Thinking of you @Kelpies

Blii · 03/01/2019 10:50

Just checking in on the new thread.
My strong anti sickness tablets don’t seem to be working so I’m still being sick and reching all day long. Awful. I can’t moan though because I was willing it on a couple of weeks ago.
Sorry to hear @mama2be sending you best wishes.
@kelpies I’d get yourself checked out as soon as possible, if it’s any reassurance I had quite a large bleed a few times with my first son. They never found out what it was.

Legomummy91 · 03/01/2019 10:53

Hi can I join!
I’m ten weeks today and judging by my dates due August 1st. Has anyone had nausea come and go? It was really bad around 7-8 weeks and it’s still there just not as severe? I don’t know if I’m being paranoid as I had a mc a few years ago and the first sign I had was all my symptoms disappeared. Hope everyone’s coping alright with the symptoms!

@ScotsBaby2 22nd August at the moment but not had a dating scan yet 😊

scratchbass · 03/01/2019 11:51

@Legomummy91 You're not the only one. Either my nausea has mostly gone for the meantime, or I am just better at managing it! I make an effort to never be hungry, that was when the nausea hit me most. My boobs are also less tender but still a cup size bigger.

Jackshouse · 03/01/2019 12:50

Hello everyone, I’m due on the 5th August. I had an early before Christmas and they found one strong heart beat and one weak one! So I was carrying twins but it looked like one is not developing. They will rescan me on Monday and I am worried about the results.

Kelpies · 03/01/2019 13:17

Not good news. Despite seeing a heartbeat at 8wks there isn't one now so sadly I'm out. Absolutely gutted but it's just one of those things isn't it and it all happens for a reason.

Wish you all very happy pregnancies and the lots of sleep filled nights with your little ones xx

ScotsBaby2 · 03/01/2019 13:34

@Kelpies oh I'm so sorry. Rest up and be kind to yourself xxx

I'm so sorry to hear @Kelpies
It must be even more distressing after your scan last week.

clairelee17 · 03/01/2019 13:36

@Kelpies I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Must be heartbreaking after hearing a heartbeat too. Take care, and be kind to yourself xxx

KMic · 03/01/2019 13:44

So sorry @Kelpies sending hugs xxx

starryeyed13 · 03/01/2019 14:25

@Kelpies I'm so sorry for your loss. Take it easy and all the best for the future ❤️

starryeyed13 · 03/01/2019 14:31

Had my first midwife appointment this morning. (They dated me by my LMP which puts be at early August, but I have irregular periods and know from my private scan that I am not as far ahead as LMP would suggest).

There was a lot to take in and I've been sent away with a big pack of info about various things. I had to make a preliminary choice about what hospital I'd like to deliver in (it can be changed though) which I wasn't quite prepared for at this stage!

Has anyone given their choice of hospital much thought? There are 4 hospitals within a 30 minute drive of us and I've heard really bad stories about two of them. But then I guess people are much more likely to share bad stories than good! I have been reading lots about the midwife led units which I like the idea of, however I would want to be close to a medical unit in case something went wrong.

My scan date is going to be sent through the post apparently.

EverythingNow · 03/01/2019 14:38

So sorry @kelpies, thinking of you xx

EverythingNow · 03/01/2019 14:45

@starryeyed13 there isn't much choice here. One big hospital (where I've had all 3 babies) plus a couple of midwife led units or a homebirth. My MW was encouraging me yesterday to pick the MLU but I said there's no point, I've been induced at 42wks with dd1 and 3 and dd2 was 10days over (and all three big babies) so the likelihood is this one will be overdue too.

Don't get me wrong I'd love a nice birth in the pool at the MLU but no point setting my hopes on it. Also the big hospital is closer than the MLU so unless I give birth at home I would probably go there.

That said dd3 was induced by my waters being broken and she was born 2hrs later so if my waters go at home maybe I'll stay there.

milly2000 · 03/01/2019 14:58

@starryeyed13 I had my first midwife appointment yesterday also. The appointment last just over an hour and did seem like a lot of information.

She suggested I plan to give birth at midwifery led ward at my hospital as I would like a water birth and am currently seen as a low risk pregnancy.

With this being my first child though I really don't no what to expect pain wise and haven't got a clue how I will cope, so would like the choice of having stronger pain relief if needed. I was told that it wouldn't be a problem as the delivery ward is only the next floor up so I could quickly be transferred if I need to be.

I found it all quiet overwhelming as I really wasn't expecting to be talking that far ahead! I might ask if they do tours of each ward just so I can see how I feel, I'm a worrier so I just want to keep my options open!

Blueberry2018 · 03/01/2019 14:59

Hi everyone! I thought Mumsnet app had broke- didnt realise it rolls over, new to all this! I found you all anyway 😊. Hope all are ok x

OctoberGirl91 · 03/01/2019 15:27

Hello Everyone glad I found you!

Had to booking appointment today with midwife one question I'm on DC #3 and although my last period was 10th Nov because of tracking ovulation I didn't get a peak ovulation till 3rd Dec and ovulated late 3rd/4th with pains etc.

They are dating my pregnancy from date of LMP but I know that is 12/13days out and told MW I was worried in case I got my 12 week scan and they thought something was wrong but she was like they'll scan you again.

I'm going keep dating myself by ovulation as I know I was pregnant before as I was testing, anyone else ever had this?xx

Whoopsies · 03/01/2019 15:35

There is a choice between 2 hospitals for me, one a 40 minute drive away and one a 10 minute drive away. I'll be choosing the nearer one, it's the same place I gave birth to ds and I was happy with it. I ended up going back and forth to the hospital during the end of my last pregnancy so was so glad I had chosen the nearer one.

avacadooo · 03/01/2019 15:52

I got my info in the post from the midwife. I have the choice of two hospitals, ones in Edinburgh the other is in Livingston which is miles away and dh can't drive.
So going with the Edinburgh one since I live there but apparently if they're full the expect you to make your own way to the other one which is ridiculous, it's genuinely in the middle of nowhere.
Worst comes to worst I'll jump on a train to the borders 😂

EverythingNow · 03/01/2019 15:54

@octobergirl91 the MW said to me yesterday they go by LMP and don't even write a due date on your blue notes til you've had a scan. Because I have short cycles that means the date is currently out but only by a couple of days.

EverythingNow · 03/01/2019 15:59

@jackshouse, welcome! Wishing you all the best for Monday xx
