Thanks for your answers they put my mind at ease!!!

Let's hope the nausea doesn't last forever I heard around week 14 it subsides so that's what I have my fingers crossed for 🤞🏻🤞🏻

bubblegumunicorn · 04/01/2019 10:31

@Kcjoe I had the coil removed about 18 months ago and they refuse to do it if there is any chance you could be pregnant, as it is technically an abortion. I had a read around the area at the time even though I new I wasn't pregnant and it can often get imbedded but they wont remove it and you end up giving birth to the coil along with the baby! Good luck with everything and hope they manage to come up with a solution for you! So sorry you have to go through this!

Bethany0903 · 04/01/2019 10:32

Hi can I join please due August 30th but will be having elective c section earlier due to a bad birth before, baby number 3 x

bubblegumunicorn · 04/01/2019 10:35

@FirstTimer88 I went to the EPU last week for a bleed this is my first so I am so cautious about everything they were great did a througher check up and sent me for a scan it was really reassuring to be measuring correctly and see the heart beat if in doubt call your doctor or midwifery team.

FirstTimer88 · 04/01/2019 10:46

Thank you @sacrecoeur0712 and @bubblegumunicorn Will try not to worry too much. Good to hear others have had similar and positive endings. Didn’t expect pregnancy to be such an anxious time!!

OctoberGirl91 · 04/01/2019 10:52

Morning ladies

Thinking of you today @Kcjoe ❤️

Need some advice I've got thrush doctors have rung me to sag they've sent a prescription for a pessary and cream to my local pharmacy and I asked about pessary as I really don't want to irritate anything after my MC in October. They said it's safe.

Anyone else used one and know if I'll be ok? Might stick to using the cream xx

Twitwooo · 04/01/2019 11:02

@bubblegumunicorn really? That's interesting, I would think if the woman is aware that there is risk associated with it it would be up to her to decide as I am sure continuing with pregnancy with the coil where it is also (as far as I know) bares risks which are higher. You shouldn't be 'forced' to continue down a path you don't want to either way.

@Kcjoe hope it goes your way today xx

RaindropsRoses · 04/01/2019 11:04

orangefolly I would keep chasing, are there other numbers you could try or your gp? I did it online too submitted christmas eve and got the phonecall back with my appointment through on the 27th so I dont think it should take that long

Notanotherpawpatrol · 04/01/2019 11:05

Octobergirl, ask the pharmacist, they're generally much more knowledgeable about specific medicines. However, I've never been given the pessary only the cream during pregnancy and always told you can't have the tablet during pregnancy. Definitely talk to the pharmacist and they will be able to advice you :)

milly2000 · 04/01/2019 11:17

@Kcjoe sorry to hear you scan didn't go so well. One of my friends got pregnant while she had the coil. And she also had a few complications early on (sorry I don't no the ins and outs of them) but she gave both to a healthy baby who was ironically holding her coil when he arrived. So hopefully you next scan maybe more positive 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

ScotsBaby2 · 04/01/2019 11:31

@FirstTimer88 and @Bethany0903 welcome and congratulations xx

@orangefolly I would phone the GP and kick up a stink tbh. The joined up communication between our GP and midwife is shocking. I hope you get your appointment soon. Do you have a scan date? If not then add that to your list of complaints when you phone up and make it clear you want the nuceul fold test so it needs to be in the correct time frame.

MrsM2017 · 04/01/2019 11:46

@orangefolly not unusual at all, not sure where you are but I self referred on 5th December after getting my bfp and didn't hear from a midwife til 2nd January, so hang in there 🤞🏻

Sooooo nerve wracking isn't it @MrsRyan15! So glad we had an early scan as it's really reduced my anxiety! Hope all goes well with your tests and you'll love seeing your little bean on the screen - makes it all so much more real.

@ScotsBaby2 did you say there was a Facebook group for us lovelies too? x

ss3ajb · 04/01/2019 11:52

Hurray found the new thread! Thought it was quiet ☺️

I just wanted to say how sorry I was for those experiencing losses and worrying symptoms my thoughts are with you 💐

Had slight meltdown at DH yesterday was speaking to a friend who has just had a baby about breastfeeding and that I wanted to do this if I could but knew it was not always straightforward and she was telling me she had seen a lactating specialist who had helped her - came home to tell DH might be something I could try and he laughed and said he was surprised how the Human race had got this far before lactating specialists- que me melting down into sobs accusing him of not taking it seriously and laughing at me - although he was not being overly sensitive I can see I may have over reacted - not my finest moment - I just seemed to have lost the plot with the hormones these days 🤣

Am a bit overweight prior to getting pregnsnt and keen not to put on more than I need for baby to be healthy so was thinking about going to slimming world with midwife sign off as heard this was good - wondered if anyone else had tried it and what are the differences between pregnancy slimming world and normal slimming world?

Hope everyone has a lovely day and the sickness is not too bad 😘

sunshine1987 · 04/01/2019 12:21

@ss3ajb I haven’t personally but one of my besties did slimming world whilst pregnant. You have to attend a group and I believe you get additional hex a and b than someone not pregnant, a bit like they do when breastfeeding x

Notanotherpawpatrol · 04/01/2019 12:22

Ss3, next time inform your husband that lactating specialists have been around since the year dot. There is evidence of a female helping to teach breast feeding in the cavemen days!
Nowadays people put so much pressure on themselves to be perfect, but we have less ready help than ever before. See the lactating specialist if you have problems, join a local breastfeeding support group and also remember formula isn't poison. In days gone by, again they used wet nurses if they couldn't feed themselves 🤷‍♀️

Kcjoe · 04/01/2019 12:55

Well it's been a bit of a rollercoaster the last couple of days. I went back to hospital this morning to see consultant and ask for coil to be removed. I saw a registrar who explained that the best thing to do is leave the coil in and have a scan again on 14th as I was told yesterday. She explained more about the risks of perforated uterus, miscarriage, congenital defects etc. I decided to have it taken out. She wondered off to get a chaperone and came back with the consultant! The consultant explained a bit further..she drew me a diagram and explained that the coil was in fact between my uterus wall and the sac, not actually through the sac! 🙄 she explained that as it grew the sac/foetus would rise and the coil would drop. At which point they would remove it. There is a risk of miscarriage at that point but she seemed optimistic. She said there is the risk of pre term labour also but chances are not very high. She also said she'd seen several coil births and the coil is delivered with the placenta or with the baby. She said she herself had a copper coil pregnancy! So it's back to waiting! In the meantime I have my booking in appt on Saturday 12th at my Drs and the scan on 14th when I'll be 7 weeks 🤞 x

ScotsBaby2 · 04/01/2019 13:00

@Kcjoe so glad you got to see the consultant. Does it put your mind slightly more at ease?

OP posts:
Kcjoe · 04/01/2019 13:07

@ScotsBaby2 I'm not sure 😂 the fact that she seemed confident about it all makes me feel better. It's the waiting game. They want to see on the next scan if a foetal pole can be seen as it was too early yesterday on the scan. They seem confident that the hcg levels are rising as they should so its just a worry when they remove coil I guess x

Jbabys · 04/01/2019 13:15

Hello, I thought i would join! I am currently nearly 7 weeks and have my first midwife appointment on the 10th, i am so excited and getting really impatient. Not sure how i am going to wait until 12 weeks for the dating scan :( really want to pay for a private early one. Has anyone else ever had one of these?

QueenofFox · 04/01/2019 13:25

@sacrecoeur0712 I'd really recommend it. You know what's it's all about already, I had a straightforward and fast first birth and the second home birth was super chilled and was lovely for my daughter to wake up to her new sister and then you can just get on with things. Go for it!

The midwives are so set up that theres no mess and it's not scary for the partner (I didn't have a pool or anything as couldn't be bothered with the faff of clearing it up). And then you can just get on with things instead of waiting around to be discharged.

PinkLady89x · 04/01/2019 13:28

Hey ladies,
I'm seeking advice from people who have been pregnant before because this will be a first for me. I booked a cruise with my partner for April and their policy states that you can't go on the cruise unless you're under 24 weeks pregnant. When we go I'll be about 20 weeks - fingers crossed! We have to pay the full amount next Friday and I'm just wondering if you think a cruise would be suitable when 20 weeks pregnant or even better, if it will be a nice idea for that stage. Obviously I've never been 20 weeks before so I don't know how it feels. It's a cruise from Southampton and it's for a week going up to the Netherlands and Belgium etc.
Just in two minds before paying out a huge amount however I'd love to have the time alone with him before it all gets crazy 😂😊 xx

RaindropsRoses · 04/01/2019 13:39

ss3ajb what notanotherpawpatrol said.. in times gone by people would have seen other family members and stuff breastfeeding and it would have just been normal to have education on it. That's the case anymore and alot of people dont know anything at all until its time to do it themselves. I hope he listens if you tell him it's important to you. I also agree, do some research before, find your local support groups etc. I really struggled with ds but was determed to do it so the groups were a massive help.

kcjoe glad you saw the consultant and they explained it all properly. Must just be such a stressful time when you dont know whats going on. Good luck for the scan.

pinklady 20 weeks is a perfect time to go. You'll be over the sickness and feeling pretty great before you get to the bit near the end when you just feel huge and tired again!

UnicornDust17 · 04/01/2019 13:52

Sounds lovely @PinkLady89x maybe get good travel insurance that will cover you. Just in case

EverythingNow · 04/01/2019 13:57

@ss3ajb I'm very overweight. I asked my MW about SW referall this week and they no longer refer in this area (story of my life) I have all the books but I'm just going to focus on eating healthy, which isn't so hard now the nausea has eased off. No more crisps and sweets for me!

Re breastfeeding, it's not always easy even without complications it can be painful to start with. I fed 2 of my my 3 and whilst I will do it again hopefully wity this one I imagine it will take a while for my nipples to toughen up again!
