I know lots of people rave about the mirena but personally I just couldn't get on with it. I bled almost constantly for the almost 18 months I put up with it and had period type cramps all the time.

We haven't decided what to do post baby with contraception. We want more children and we're kind of thinking a relatively short gap to get the worst years over with even though we know it'll be harder short term there will be benefits long term. So on one hand we're thinking maybe just see how it goes with nothing?

Surprisedmom · 05/01/2019 12:06

@Fredthespider if you want babies close together that’s an option. Just be careful not to be pregnant again by your 6 week midwife appointment - my mum’s friend and her cousin both were and neither could believe it, but it’s definitely possible to get pregnant again that quickly.

I can’t remember who was asking about nursing bras the other day, but I found some I think are comfy and fairly nice looking that are on sale here:
www.nursingbra-shop.co.uk/search.asp
My plan is to invest in more expensive bras once my milk has come in and i’m certain of my size, but I ordered a few of these and they arrived today and i’m very happy with them. Super soft and don’t make me feel frumpy or like a milk cow.

Fredthespider · 05/01/2019 12:16

@Surprisedmom wow that is impressive going!! Definitely wasn't thinking of anything that quick. We're planners at heart so I doubt we'd leave it to chance too much, but I don't think I'll go back on any form of hormonal contraception straight away post birth.

OH is fed up of me constantly buying bras online and them not fitting. I've been through 4 different sizes so far (8 bras as they're 2 packs). So I'm going to try and get this last pair of bras through to once the milk comes in and then go get proper nice bras as a treat to myself lol.

😂😂😂 true story. Thought you ladies would sympathize. (We will just ignore the name technicalities)

@Notquiteagandt 👏👏👏

lanalawr · 05/01/2019 14:50

Don't worry about the McDonalds. It's probably a one off and you're pregnant! My veggie friend did the same a while ago - she was craving a Big Mac so just went for it.

Changing bags... any recommendations? I am loathe to spend £40 or upwards on a bag that is basically for cleaning up baby shit 🤷🏻‍♀️

That said, I don’t want a nylon looking cheap thing (which are still overpriced for what they are!).

Any recommendations for a decently priced bag? I prefer the messenger style/shape rather than rucksack. I can’t find one I like anywhere... definitely nothing that declares me to be a ‘yummy mummy’ god I hate that phrase!! 😂

detachablehoof · 05/01/2019 16:00

I'm also looking for changing bag recommendations although I'm open to spending a bit more. I want something leather I think and that goes with pram (tan / silver / navy). Thinking of this Storksak storksak.com/product/noa-leather-light-tan unless I find anything I like better?

clairehr · 05/01/2019 16:03

@detachablehoof That's the bag I've bought and I love it. I got a hell of a deal on it though, spent half of that for the charcoal and tan version, so worth searching for deals 😊

detachablehoof · 05/01/2019 16:04

@babynum2 you might find that your meat craving is because your body needs protein! I've heard people say that you shouldn't ignore pregnancy cravings as it's often something you need.

I have a real sugar obsession and wonder if it's my body needing fruit (I get so constipated if I don't eat a few portions each day!) not sure what nutrition I get from my obsessive consumption of McDonald's caramel frappes though Grin

detachablehoof · 05/01/2019 16:06

@clairehr is it a leather one? I have been looking but can't find it any cheaper anywhere. Have seen a second hand one on eBay for £40 but it's the darker tan which has gold zips and I do prefer the silver.

Glad to hear you like it, I've done LOTS of research (typical first time mum!!) before deciding this is probably The One Wink

clairehr · 05/01/2019 16:22

@detachablehoof Try the mummyandlittleme website, that's where I got mine, think it was end of line stock though, but they may have different colours in. They also do 10% off of first orders 😊

detachablehoof · 05/01/2019 16:24

@clairehr Thanks so much for the recommendation, I'll take a look!

Eeek I have 4 wks to go and so much to buy still!

Notquiteagandt · 05/01/2019 16:26

I have got a backpack type bag for when I use the carrier. It is a pacapod. So loads diff compartments.

I have a cath kitson across pram organiser and loads hooks etc for when use the pram.

I have loads tote bags and le pilages. So plan to just use them with the pods from the pacapod in for the pram.

I have not given it too much thought tbh. Other than knowing id want my hands and arms free.

Since2016 · 05/01/2019 16:33

I spent £££ on a changing bag for DD. Binned it off quite quickly and used a leather rucksack / tote bag instead. Just saying!!! I remember this exact thought process though... and I did love it for the first while 😂 pram organiser thingy that is detachable - ie. you can remove and walk away with it when leaving pram in cafe/ shop/ class is v helpful if it goes on the bars of the pram. Useless ones are those that you need to decant everything back into your bag first though.

Since2016 · 05/01/2019 16:34

Ps. You think (ime) you’ll want all the compartments. In the end it’s a total faff and drove me nuts as I couldn’t ever find things!

welshweasel · 05/01/2019 16:39

One that works as a rucksack definitely useful if you plan to use a sling at all.
