3 days @Since2016 ! Shock dd was a week late after walks, pineapple and raspberry leaf tea but at least she was born within 10 hours of my waters breaking and 8 hours of contractions starting.

Since2016 · 02/01/2019 16:19

Yup @lanalawr - several days of labour and then a c section! Hence the ELCS this time! My body just didn’t cooperate!

sickmumma · 02/01/2019 16:23

I am very lucky that one of my best friends is a midwife assistant and specially trained in breastfeeding! Tbh I struggled each time and finally cracked it with my daughter but she wasn't gaining enough weight despite getting a lot of milk and so we had to switch at 3 months anyway! Anything in a bonus in my eyes but I'm not going to stress if we struggle this time. With my first it was awful 😢

Not sure if it's coincidence but my waters broke naturally both times after having sex the previous night! I haven't tried anything else apart from long walks as I was only 38 weeks when labour started so hadn't got too desperate but now I am expecting 38 weeks if this baby is late I will be very grumpy!!

I feel so horrible but my three children have been awful this holidays and I can't wait for them to go back to school! They have argued and bickered all holidays which isn't like them at all!! Even the 6 weeks holidays when I was so ill we stayed in they didn't get this bad! I think it's the excitement and then downfall of Xmas and being tired (all of us!!)

AliceRR · 02/01/2019 17:06

I was going to ask if any of you are doing perineal massage as I think they recommend it from about 34 weeks. I find the prospect slightly daunting though and don’t feel like asking my RL friends about it!

On a brighter note I bought the Medela swing breast pump from Boots as it was in offer along with a couple of “essentials” for the hospital bag... Buying nappies made things seem very real!

Leonora94 · 02/01/2019 17:07

@Surprisedmom mines done the same! I took it out really early as well, terrified it’s going to split :/

AliceRR · 02/01/2019 17:07

@Surprisedmom My belly button has popped out and isn’t very dark but the two spots where my belly button piercing were are very dark! I kind of regret slightly having had the piercing because the scars are so dark on what might otherwise be a cute bump!

maxiflump1 · 02/01/2019 17:10

Well my cough has gotten worse and started coughing up Brown gunk this afternoon so have been to GP and now on antibiotics for a chest infection 🥴😷 Hoping they might help me get some decent sleep....

Yakadee · 02/01/2019 17:15

@AliceRR - I bought nappies today too and they look tiny!

@maxiflump1 - you poor thing, hopefully this will sort you out x

AliceRR · 02/01/2019 17:20

@Yakadee I haven’t opened the pack (I’m still at work) but will when I get home. However MW gave me an Emma’s Diary maternity pack on Monday and the nappies were so small and cute! Especially in comparison with the Mio solo reusable ones which are huge in comparison...

Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 02/01/2019 17:20

I did the massage last time and had no tear and no cut needed. I'm sure it was down to the massage and staying hydrated.

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 02/01/2019 17:26

@Since2016 another three day labour here too... 58 hours to be exact, it was the lack of sleep that was a killer though! I was so tired 😩

My waters didn’t break till I was 10cm with both my sons.. hoping to avoid that mess at home again, much easier to mop hospital floors than clean carpets.. 😬

Is it weird that I’m quite looking forward to labour? Obviously I know it’s going to hurt etc. but I’m quite curious to see how different it’ll be with a third.. the first and second were poles apart!

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 02/01/2019 17:29

To follow on from others, I also did perinium massage, and pelvic floor exercises, I had a slight frontal tear (enough to sting, no stitches needed) with my first, nothing with my second.

I do have quite naturally stretchy skin though, no pregnancy stretch marks so far (touch wood!!) so I’m not sure how much is just down to genetics 🤷🏻‍♀️

Surprisedmom · 02/01/2019 17:30

@Leonora94 and @AliceRR it’s reassuring to know it’s not just me. I agree it does seem to slightly ruin the look of the bump, but 2bh nobody is looking at my bump except midwives anyway and I doubt they care about aesthetics.

powkin · 02/01/2019 18:19

@AliceRR - I've been planning to do it, but putting it off if I'm honest. I appear to have very short arms so not entirely sure how I'm going to manage it!

Celebelly · 02/01/2019 18:42

I think I'm going to get DP involved with the massage. He already has to trim down there as I can't reach or see it, so it can just be another job for him!

BeverlyZimek · 02/01/2019 19:12

So at my appointment today my blood pressure was looking quite high and they said it looks like I have gestational hypertension. They said I should rest as much as possible and they are going to be monitoring it. Should I be worried?

BeverlyZimek · 02/01/2019 19:33

Although I did find out that I’m going to be induced on 9th January now as twins are usually born early any way and with my blood pressure being a bit high it’ll be better to have them here soon!

Yakadee · 02/01/2019 19:46

@BeverlyZimek - I'm sure if they were really really concerned they'd have kept you in? Just try take it easy. It's good they are monitoring you x

AvoidingMarking · 02/01/2019 20:00

@Bluelagoon25 I think it's meant to soften your cervix too. No idea if the old wives tale about not tearing is true or not but last time I managed not to

Wames90 · 02/01/2019 22:41

@BeverlyZimek my BP was raised today too with the midwife so I had to go to day assessment to be monitored for about 45 minutes, everything was fine on there so just need to see the midwife in a week to check it again. Did they send you for extra monitoring? I think they’re pretty hot on managing it if they’re concerned so wouldn’t have just ignored it if they thought something needed to be done about it. Very exciting about your induction date though, your babies will be here before you know it!

BeverlyZimek · 02/01/2019 23:40

Yeah it’s very exciting, can’t believe they will be here so soon! I have a home visit in a few days to check my blood pressure and everything and I’ve got to send in a urine sample as protein in the urine is a sign of preeclampsia x

babyp160 · 02/01/2019 23:54

I was so impressed with myself NYE. Danced solidly for 2 hours and was up until 4:30am with a load of drunk people.

Been shattered every since and my PGP really flared up.

Seeing everyone the next day made me never want to drink again. Had such a good time and didn't suffer with a hangover!

Annual leave until 10th (we came away for new years) and then 7 working days before I finish at 36 weeks! 👶🏻

BeverlyZimek · 03/01/2019 00:44

So guys now that I know these two will be here next Wednesday I desperately need to choose their names! I already know their middle names so it’s just first names I l’m stuck on. I have narrowed my list down to: Eliza, Lillian, Abigail, Hope, Daisy and Leslie. Obviously in the end it’s my choice but out of curiosity which are your top 2 from the list?

bubblybrit · 03/01/2019 00:53

How exciting that you are getting to meet your two babies next week @BeverlyZimek! My two favourite names from your list are Abigail and Daisy Smile.....I also really like Lily so perhaps a cute nn for Lillian (although I’m not sure if you’d rather use the full name)

twiglet · 03/01/2019 05:30

Another one for Abigail and Daisy.

I've started with the massage but only just reach and not managing the 2 mins stretches. Think I'm going to have to get DH involved but we have house guests until Friday. Massage is also a misleading term........
