Just found out my grandad who's been poorly for a while now bless him
Is in hospital & being transferred to a hospice tomorrow probably a few weeks he has left if that :( just feel so crap now I'm thinking about it all and so upset :(

lanalawr · 03/01/2019 19:09

I'm sorry to hear about your grandad @Alicejj8x. Do you live close enough or are you able to make a trip to spend some time with him soon? It's never a good time to hear news like this but I hope he's comfortable.

bubblybrit · 03/01/2019 19:15

@Alicejj8x. I’m so sorry to hear about your grandad. Those at the hospice will make sure that he is as comfortable and at peace as he can be xx

Alicejj8x · 03/01/2019 19:21

@lanalawr
He has told my dad he doesn't want to see anyone :( he may even turn my dad away tomorrow he said. I think he's very proud and doesn't want us to see him like this.
Just so crap isn't it

Alicejj8x · 03/01/2019 19:22

@bubblybrit thank you very much.
Yes that defo makes me feel happier to no he'll be in comfort and peace bless him x

bubblybrit · 03/01/2019 19:38

@Alicejj8x. My papa had dementia and ended up in a hospice for the last few weeks. It made such a difference knowing that he was receiving specialist care. Still a really upsetting time but gave me a sense of peace knowing that he was in the best place xx

Yakadee · 03/01/2019 19:48

@maxiflump1 - no!!! I hope that's not the case as from what they've said I'm totally expecting to get my date tomorrow. I'll be 36 weeks on Sunday and it's feeling a bit close 😟

@Alicejj8x - so sorry to hear about your Grandad. Hospices are fantastic though, has a few family members spend some time there and they really are great at what they do. Maybe he'll change his mind about seeing people x

AvoidingMarking · 03/01/2019 20:01

@Alicejj8x sorry about your grandad. Not nice news to receive ever, but especially not when you're looking forward to welcoming someone new and are hormonal!

@Yakadee I was given a date for the induction last time. I think with c sections it depends on how many emergency operations may come up but they can book inductions a bit more easily.

I have never done a perineal massage!

Yakadee · 03/01/2019 20:06

@AvoidingMarking - It's just what the woman said last time that's made me so sure I was getting a date. Plus, my sister lives in the same area and got a date for hers, it was a, go in at 8 am and wait your turn kind of job to of course work around any emergencies.

I really do hope I get my date tomorrow but guess we'll know soon enough either way.

I did do the massage with my first and I'm not entirely sure if it helped, I had an episiotomy but didn't tear so maybe it did help a bit. Unfortunately I needed physio for a long time afterwards and it was pretty much the same procedure but for recovery. I'd certainly suggest giving it a try if it can help (and if you can reach!) xx

Rowse · 03/01/2019 20:14

This is very random, but my NCT teacher recommended buying some kind of sex toy for anal to use for perennial massage!

She was told about it by other NCT teachers at some training, apparently you can get it from Love Honey for around £15 and it's similar to the much more expensive Epi No which is designed for perennial massage this is the Epi No epi-no.co.uk/ and I'm trying to find a similar thing on Love Honey now.

Rowse · 03/01/2019 20:23

Just to update on my post below, after a quick google I think these 'toys' might be what she was thinking for perennial massage Shock www.lovehoney.co.uk/sex-toys/butt-plugs/inflatable-butt-plugs/

Celebelly · 03/01/2019 20:36

I just got DP to try it on me I had a bath. V weird feeling!!! Poor lad. First he had to deforest the area with his beard trimmer Grin The actual massage was a little uncomfortable and tingly but I guess that means something was stretching!

AvoidingMarking · 03/01/2019 20:40

I didn't do it last time and managed not to tear.... don't think I'll bother! Not entirely sure what it is anyway TBH

Yakadee · 03/01/2019 21:19

Anyone else watching 21 kids and counting?? I'm watching this and thinking, how, why?? Each to their own but wow! X

sickmumma · 03/01/2019 21:35

I wish I had heard of the perineal massage with my others I had an episiotomy with my first and then tore with my other two! For my 4th I wonder how much of a difference it will really make 🙈😂😳 haha!

Sorry to hear about your grandad @Alicejj8x it must be a horrible situation but like others have said the hospice is really the best place he can be and the staff will look after him really well there! Hopefully he will settle in and change his mind about the visits!

Glad your all settling in @Lulabell1 girls names are so tricky! Names on our shortlist were ...

Imogen, Clemmie, Eleanor, Evelyn, Edie and Cleo. We finally decided on Ava though after our DD kept saying it!

Lulabell1 · 03/01/2019 21:45

@yakadee @maxiflump1 a lovely lady at DD school was booked in for her csection at Epsom she had her date from 2 weeks prior and when she went in on the day they had no beds so was sent home. She came back in on the tuesday early morning and waited all day but too many emergencies meant she didnt end up having it again and then finally got it on the wednesday very late! I think the date is probably a guide and things can be very hit and miss!

Lulabell1 · 03/01/2019 21:46

And yes watched 21 kids and counting I remember when they had their program when they only had 16! Crazy but i think once you get to about 7 kids it probably doesnt feel any different especially as they start to grow older!

Yakadee · 03/01/2019 21:47

@Lulabell1 - oh man! Well, it is what it is. Fingers crossed it all goes to plan. X

Surprisedmom · 03/01/2019 23:21

@Yakadee yep I also watched it and just couldn’t believe the mum could handle so many pregnancies! I think mine has been fairly straight forward, but even so it’s exhausting enough without 20 other kids to look after. She’s equal parts amazing and crazy to my mind.

Yakadee · 04/01/2019 05:22

Mad isn't it! She's been pregnant for nearly 21 years of her life! She doesn't even look that old! Her husband seemed really nice, a grafter too! I took my 1 child on holiday when he was 1 and that was hard enough lol. X

BeverlyZimek · 04/01/2019 10:47

I remember hearing that she had her her first child at just 14. honestly I don’t know if I could do this 21 times 😂

Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 04/01/2019 11:33

@BeverlyZimek That's the bit that shocked me as wow that's young but also, her husband would have been 18 years old. found it a little weird.

user1489343787 · 04/01/2019 11:35

Hello ladies,
Have been following your thread in the dark as have had 3 previous MCs 1 being last year at 30weeks so been apprehensive to post. 35 weeks now due 12th feb anyone else? Second baby and having a little suprise! The whole reason I wanted to post really was because this morning i went to the toilet and when i wiped it was very snotty (tmi) it was clear no blood but took a good 3 wipes to get rid of it and a change of knickers. I dont suffer with it normally nor hve I in this pregnancy do you think this is a sign of maybe having my baby early or no?

Also how do I change my username?

AliceRR · 04/01/2019 12:26

Hi user, sorry to hear about your previous experiences. I think you can changed your username by going into the profile icon (on my phone it is a person in the top right corner) and click “settings” In terms of the discharge, I understand it’s normal to experience more discharge at this stage especially if just clear and no odour. If you are worried I would call the MW if only to set your mind at rest.

I’m feeling pressure down in my pelvis today, must be baby’s head but it feels like movement IYKWIM so presumably this counts as movement? I stress about baby movement but know baby has moved and so the movements feel different but I’m definitely feeling things low down!

I still get a foot or knee jabbing into me at the front of my bump too which I find funny 😬😂🥰

AvoidingMarking · 04/01/2019 12:43

@user1489343787 sorry to hear of your losses before. With my last pregnancy I lost what is known as the mucus plug at about 36 weeks but I was 40 weeks before I had my daughter. If you google it (warning- it's gross) it should tell you if that's what it is that you lost.

If worried though call the midwife!
