Argh! My legs hurt so much when I'm sleeping. I don't think I got more than a couple of hours at a time last night. Anyone found any way to relieve this? I have a body pillow and I'm sleeping in top of an extra, folded duvet.

Squashbanana1 · 03/01/2019 07:32

@DeliberatelyGinger have you tried swimming? I had a few nights where my joints were aching and legs were restless. I went swimming and stretched out all the joints in the water doing some exercises and it actually does feel a lot better at night time!

emalady · 03/01/2019 10:27

@deliberatelyginger another vote for swimming, I've definitely found a bit more exercise to a point really helps, obviously pushing too hard, especially walking long distances can make it a bit worse.

Notquiteagandt · 03/01/2019 10:29

@BeverlyZimek how exciting..!! I like Eliza and Abigail from your list. I like Lilian but no so muh Lily and I feel it would naturally get shortend.

Just think you will have them next week 😍

BeverlyZimek · 03/01/2019 10:33

Although it can hurt, I think I’m going to miss this 😢

Yakadee · 03/01/2019 13:50

Oh wow, they can't half get themselves into some positions! X

BeverlyZimek · 03/01/2019 13:53

Yes! And I swear they do full on somersaults I’m there sometimes 😂 last night I could even see what looked like an arm or something move across my belly.

powkin · 03/01/2019 13:53

First day back at work and PGP is bad today. I stupidly did a pregnancy run/waddle for a bus this morning which I knew I’d regret! I hobbled to get some lunch. Worried about what I’m going to feel like if this goes full term!

Lulabell1 · 03/01/2019 14:20

Hello ladies Just had a snoop on the thread to see if we had anymore early arrivals but look like not! We are home and settled into life with 2 now but we still need a name I keep calling her RalphettWink Isla has been calling her baby sugar (no idea) and DP is adamant shes a darlah (not a fan)

Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 03/01/2019 14:52

That's lovely. If they're any good, my DD is Lily Jessica.

Notquiteagandt · 03/01/2019 17:26

@lulabell1 what about a little rafaella? Thats a feminine form of ralph no?
Glad to hear you are settling into life as a family of 4.

I saw the consultant today and been given my date for induction. 3 weeks left eeek. Feels very very very real now.

I have also been admitted as inpatient for a few things. I am on the maternity unit. All single rooms but not that sound proof can hear someone screaming. Suddenly feel very anxious that it is all becoming very real. Almost want to shout through the wall PUSH you can do it and go and cheer her on.

Surprisedmom · 03/01/2019 17:34

@BeverlyZimek my favourites are Eliza & Lillian (Liz & Lil would make a cute nickname pair too). I’m partly guided by being a teacher though and so prefer less common names - - there were three Abigails in one of my classes this year (and many more if I added up all the classes).

Yakadee · 03/01/2019 17:35

@Lulabell1 - glad you're getting settled. I bet it's hard choosing a name now! Lol. There are lots of nice ones to choose from, what kind of names do you like?

@Notquiteagandt - scary! Hope you're OK?

I have my consultant appointment tomorrow to get my section date - I cannot wait to find out, feels like I've been waiting forever for this meeting!! X

maxiflump1 · 03/01/2019 17:43

@BeverlyZimek I love Eliza: was on my short list if this baby was a girl. I like Eliza and Abigail.

@Notquiteagandt sorry to hear you've been admitted. Hope you're not in there too long!!

@Yakadee my consultant appointment is a week Monday although I was told last time they will only confirm the week they plan to do the section and not the exact date. Think I then get a phone call the week before with the actual date.

BeverlyZimek · 03/01/2019 17:47

@Notquiteagandt oh no, hope everything goes well love! Sad to hear you’ve been admitted.

hayley013 · 03/01/2019 17:48

@Lulabell1 so glad you're home and together as a family. We're still REALLY struggling for a girls name too.

I have an awful stabbing pain below my left shoulder blade/behind top ribs, can't get anything to ease it.

Has anyone here had a Doppler scan? I've got one on Monday because baby's weight gain has slowed down, going 90th centile to nearer 50th. I didn't think these measurements were too accurate but the hospital seemed to take it rather seriously

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 03/01/2019 17:49

I never choose a name till they are born... what if they just don’t ‘look’ like the name?

This is a really weird question... but I don’t get how some people can’t do perineal massage... if you can’t reach, how are you wiping your bum?! It’s right next to it 😬

hayley013 · 03/01/2019 17:49

@Notquiteagandt hope you're feeling ok, glad you're in the best place but can imagine it all seeming so much more real, hope you can get plenty rest xx

hayley013 · 03/01/2019 17:51

Perineal massage 🤔 I need to start it as want to do all I can to avoid stitches, but i just don't know how! I've read about how to but just seems weird haha

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 03/01/2019 17:55

I have a growth scan tomorrow as my fundal measurements haven’t really changed (I was measuring a month ahead, now I am measuring bang on for my dates 🤷🏻‍♀️

But never had a Doppler scan, does this follow on from a growth scan if they still have concerns? Personally, I still wouldn’t be worrying at this point... im not sure the growth scans can be relied on, so I’d just view it as a good thing they are finding out more, I’d be fascinated! That said... hope all goes well 🤞🏼

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 03/01/2019 18:02

If i am struggling with perineal massage, I find the easiest position is sitting with my legs crossed, leaning to the side and reaching under myself from there..

So if my legs are crossed with my left leg on the bottom, I lean to the left and massage with my right hand.. if that makes sense?

welshweasel · 03/01/2019 18:03

They’ll do a Doppler as part of your growth scan, to measure pressures in the umbilical cord.

Celebelly · 03/01/2019 18:07

It's not the rubbing in the oil to the perineum that's the tricky bit tho, it's the fingers inside your vagina and pulling down and holding that's the awkward bit! It can be a bit tricky to get the right angle when you have a big bump and various aches and pains!

Notquiteagandt · 03/01/2019 18:21

Thanks ladies for the well wishes. I am ok just having some fluids and an iron infusion. But my urine sample showed something to do with my electrolytes whatever that means so it is a bed for the night for me and some tests.

The dr also offered to give me something ti help me actually get some sleep and rest si looking forward to that 💤

So lucky to have the best antinatal team.

hayley013 · 03/01/2019 18:29

@NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking yeah, I had a growth scan Friday and they said because of growth slowing down (though becoming more 'normal') they want to investigate why growth has slowed down, hence the Doppler scan, which I believe is focused on the blood flow going through cord. Yeah that's it, I am intrigued but hope her growth is still steady at this 10 day follow up stage
