Very sorry for your previous losses, hopefully everything goes well this time which considering you’ve made it to 35 weeks, I’m sure it will! I was also going to suggest that you may have lost your mucus plug so you should google to check and possibly consult with a midwife to be sure x

Babynum2 · 04/01/2019 13:12

Thankyou ladies I had a google how yuk! I didnt loose my plug last time mu waters went and then i only had a 6hour labour and i was 37 weeks im thinking i may go over this time though but who ever knows just a waiting game!

Fredthespider · 04/01/2019 13:25

@Rowse - I feel enlightened, I bet you had fun finding it haha!

I'd like to give the massage a go, I just keep forgetting about it, same as the hypnobirthing and reading my book!

Yakadee · 04/01/2019 13:53

Got my section date - 29th January! Yay!!! Feels very real now. Can't wait for it all to be done and dusted and for baby to be here safe and sound.

One thing that she shock / surprise me is that she asked me if I wanted to be sterilised at the same time! Was not expecting that?? Xx

AliceRR · 04/01/2019 15:10

@Yakadee I’m not surprised you weren’t expecting that!! I suppose you have a bit of time to think about it, but still...

Celebelly · 04/01/2019 15:14

I've heard of that before –I guess it makes sense as they're 'in there' anyway and otherwise it would be quite an invasive procedure, so if it's something the woman was keen on, it makes sense to see if it can be done without having a separate op for it. But yes, it's a bit of a shocking question to hear I can imagine!

I'm dreading having to go back on contraception again. I'm not sure we'll have more than one (DP isn't keen and I've always thought I'd be one and done) but sterilisation is too final. But my body reacts so badly to monthly cycles and hormonal BC :( Being pregnant is the best I've felt mood-wise, without all the monthly fluctuations. I basically need a pill that mimics pregnancy in terms of hormones but without actually being pregnant and all the other side effects!

MrsY87 · 04/01/2019 15:16

@Yakadee that's the same date they have given me for a section too...it's weird when you know the latest date they will be here by isn't it?!

detachablehoof · 04/01/2019 15:21

Anyone got any wisdom for me on baby monitors? I posted a thread on it elsewhere but not had any responses.

I want a video monitor that connects to an Android app. The Arlo looks good (pretty pricey though). My sister swears by Angelcare but they don't do a WiFi one.

twiglet · 04/01/2019 15:22

@Celebelly have you tried the implant? It does mimic some of the same hormones to a lesser extent and for many (myself included) reduces number of periods (I would have one a year once it settled down).

I'm glad my DH is at work was using a dustpan and brush my back went and couldn't get up ConfusedBlush just crawled to the sofa across 2 rooms to use it in order to be able to get off the floor.....
MORTIFIED!

Celebelly · 04/01/2019 15:32

Yes, I had the implant previously. It worked well in that I got zero periods but it sent me crazy! I just don't do well with hormonal stuff. I think I might try copper coil and see how I get on. Hoping breastfeeding will stave off cycle returning for as long as possible!

Leonora94 · 04/01/2019 15:46

@detachablehoof we’ve got a YI camera there amazing and so cheap (about £25 plus £10 for HD Mega memory card) , they sell them on amazon we currently have one set up as a baby cam, doggy cam and as cctv outside. They’re so easy to set up the apps also really easy to use, they do everything a baby monitor does with out the price tag. We read up and lots of people use them as baby cams because you change the sensitivity to sound and movement.

powkin · 04/01/2019 15:54

@Celebelly - I came off hormonal contraception quite a few years ago and we went back to good old fashioned condoms. He doesn't actually mind, and my mood is much better so it isn't necessarily as bad as we thought. I was put off the copper coil by the long termness and the potential for heavy bleeding/period pain. I didn't have awful periods but didn't much fancy them being any worse!

Going swimming very soon so have tried to de-fuzz my nether-regions. It involved a portable mirror being placed on our blanket box for visibility and a washing up bowl being placed underneath to catch the fuzz. Oh the shame of it all! Waaaay TMI but on inspection of downstairs there is an extra bit of skin down there - I don't think it's a skin tag (too big) or piles (not remotely sore or itchy or red) so might just ask my midwife when I next seen her. Urgh... embarrassing and a bit gross!

Now my back hurts and going out to do exercise is the last thing I want to do but I know I'll feel better for it (even if it's just to enjoy the really good showers afterwards!). Just really cannot be bothered with the travelling as much as anything else :(

babyp160 · 04/01/2019 16:26

God knows what we will do. This is a mini pill baby so maybe not go back to that. Implant made me a bit mental. 🙈

maxiflump1 · 04/01/2019 16:37

@Celebelly glad you got your date for section today. When is your actual due date? Mines Feb 8th so anticipating last few days of Jan x

OP posts:
Yakadee · 04/01/2019 16:38

I agree it does seem very final. I will be very happy with my 2 and we don't plan on anymore but I don't think I could do it. Totally makes sense while they're already in there though if that's what you want. I was just not expecting it at all.

@MrsY87 - aww cute!! Xx

lanalawr · 04/01/2019 16:41

@Yakadee It would have shocked me too. We're probably finished at two but I don't like the idea of drawing a line under more children completely. Not sure what to do about birth control. Condoms to begin with I'd imagine. I struggled with the pop and bled continuously so I'm nervous about progesterone only/other hormonal methods that aren't easy to stop.

maxiflump1 · 04/01/2019 16:42

Sorry @Celebelly last comment should have been for @Yakadee.

Babynum2 · 04/01/2019 16:45

@babyp160 my first was concieved on mini pill. I get pregnant so easily second was also concieved as i was changing my coil over and had to wait for my period and was pregnant 9 days later, I unfortunately misscarried. Think i will go back onto the coil again as i can only really have that now due too a bloodclot after an operation on my broken ankle 3 years ago. I will breastfeed first although its not a form of contaception but i have warned dear DH it will be a very long wait before I even think about the S word!

Celebelly · 04/01/2019 16:51

@maxiflump1 Had a mild panic there Grin

Yakadee · 04/01/2019 16:52

@maxiflump1 - due date is the 3rd Feb so I'll be 39+2. She said they won't do them at 38 weeks unless absolutely necessary (to do with baby's breathing). Would you believe, my dad's birthday on 28th, grandad's on 30th and one of our best friends 1st Feb! Busy week for us eh!

@lanalawr - I know. I'm only 31 too so plenty of years in me if we change ours minds (although we won't) xx

Since2016 · 04/01/2019 16:59

Glad you got your date @yakadee ! Week before me! Feels v real now!

2 1/2 hours in the park with DD today following a long day out yesterday. I am whacked. So grateful she is finally able to play independently - even when that means a massive mess for me to tidy up afterwards!

Defintely starting to get a little nervous about 3nager + babe!

Since2016 · 04/01/2019 17:01

I’m defintely still wanting more kids (DH doesn’t tho). I used the mirena and would strongly recommend - no issues at all!

@maxiflump my DD is 15/02 and section is 07/02 - so I’ll be 38+6

lanalawr · 04/01/2019 17:55

I'm similar @Yakadee I'm 30 so there should be plenty of life left in my ovaries! I can see me being keen to have more but dh is less sure. He struggled to get his head around two because he's an only child (and happily so).

Since2016 · 04/01/2019 18:07

I’m 35 in May! So if I’m going to have another it needs to be sooner rather than later... I needed clomid for this pregnancy so will probably need help again. I’m working on DH, id rather take the hit now career wise rather than wait till I’m in my late 30s!! Defintely no more than 3 tho.

Yakadee · 04/01/2019 18:30

@Since2016 - I think our existing little ones must be about same age (he's 3 in March) so can understand that. He's really (really really) boisterous too (but very loving) so wondering how we'll so with that? X
