OK I know it's VERY early days folks but someone's got to start this thread sometime. Due date between May 4 and May 9. Any other takers?

Hi Ladies.

Glad you're all doing well.
I have spent the last three days on the early pg ward after blacking out on Tuesday. But it wasn't all bad -

Was nice to be in the hospital and getting really good care, making me feel better within a couple of days.

Got to have my scan early because the midwives were concerned I was having twins. Scan was amazing, had one of the best scan photo's I have ever seen (really clear) and only showing one baby.

Met loads on lovely ladies on the ward, we spent every night chatting till about 2 in the morning about everything and nothing.

The most amazing thing that happened though was the woman in the bed next to me giving birth before they had the chance to get her to the labour ward. She had a little boy (8 pound 8) with just two pushes with a room full of patience witnessing it. Was truly amazing and made us all cry.

Wasn't all good though, I have huge bruising on my arms and legs where they couldn't insert the drips and needles because I was to dehydrated to bleed or have any prominent veins. I also still feel rather sick but at least I'm keeping fluids down now so they let me home. Plus some of my blood test came back abnormal so I need to go back to the hospital in two weeks to be retested.

Sorry to waffle on but I just wanted to share my exciting few days with you all.

Hi everyone - wow, there's been a lot happening on here in the last few days.
Brighteyes - cannot believe you landed up in hospital - you poor wee soul. Now that is not normal. Great that you got the scan tho' . How are you feeling now?
Fantastic news re the scans Fisil and KIQFTM!!!! And glad you got the heartbeat ok Logic - I want a dopler too.
Myermay hope you're doing ok? Assume there's been no more spotting?
Northstar I'm a definite pot belly now. Where are you in Ireland?
Had my nuchal and cvs yesterday. Nuchal plus bloods and nasal bone scan results were pretty good considering my age, but still went ahead with cvs for reassurance (Wouldn't have done so if I had had anyone else except Prof Nick..). Get preliminary results on Friday. And guess what - I THINK I know the sex of the baby - but will hear for sure in 2 weeks'!!! Do you want to know?? It's suddenly all very exciting and tbh I don't give a toss what the cvs results are. Been discussing names with dh tonight.
p.s. Don't know about crisps ladies - but shortbread is my thing just now - must be a Scottish thing.

cab, I want to know, I want to know! All sounds really promising.

Brighteyes, you poor poor poppet. I hope you get better luck soon.

Brighteyes · 22/10/2004 09:37

Thanks for the support ladies, feeling alot better now, just kind of weak from the ordeal. Guess my sickness is about average for a pg woman now.

Cab really glad your feeling so positive after your scan. I really want to know what you think the sex is, what names have you come up with?

northstar · 22/10/2004 10:05

Good morning everyone great to hear all the good news coming in re: tests and scans. How many of you are asking the sex of baba? I know i will definately want to know - i'm just that kind of person. I don't have a preference, just an intense curiosity.

Had great chat with dp last night he said some really nice things and i'm feeling so good today. I was on my own when pg with ds, and it is sooooo nice to share this with someone (as well as all the due may05'ers)

Oh i'm from the sunny south east of ireland although you wouldn't know it today!

LittleB · 22/10/2004 10:42

Hi all,
Brighteyes, so glad to hear that you are feeling better, even though you're bruised (have you tried arnica cream for bruises?) Must have been amzing to see a baby born while you were in hospital - its your first too isn't it? Its so exciting hearing that people have had their scans and tests. Cab can you really tell what sex it is this early? Thats amazing! I'd love to know, its so exciting being part of this group, it's great to know there are other people out there who are going through the same things.
PS Cab you've given me a shortbread craving now! I'm in Somerset so I guess it should be cider and cheddar! Don't really fancy either although I'm eating lots of local apples!

northstar · 22/10/2004 10:45

Agree wholeheartedly with littleb it is great to be part of this group

I should be ironing though

logic · 22/10/2004 13:21

I'm really glad that everyone seems more positive.
Dh seems to think that I've reached the barking mad stage and tbh he may have a point. Plus, I have eaten all the chocolate that I bought for trick-or-treaters

Sorry that you had a rough time Brighteyes but hopefully you will be getting better from now on. I'm glad that you saw a birth too because I found that people are very willing to share their horror stories when it really doesn't have to be like that!

It would be lovely to know the sex this early, cab! I can't wait to find out myself. I bought this doppler:
doppler
It's a one man company so great personal service and it turned up less than 24 hours after ordering it!

northstar · 22/10/2004 14:07

Myermay, what's happening? Is everything ok?

cab · 22/10/2004 15:04

OK ladies - won't find out for sure for 2 weeks, but the poor doctor at the FMC - after much persuasion and warnings that it is very early to tell - thought it was a GIRL!!!! Got a huge list of names but any suggestions much appreciated. We're so chuffed as dd reckons she either wants an older brother or a baby sister and husband hates football.
Ta for the info logic - shall see how often I demand scans in the next while. At the moment I'm feeling pretty happy about things - not worrying so much now I'm past 12 weeks.
The FMC put new edd at May 1. But they phoned today to say my preliminary results - due today - won't come til Mon cos some machine has broken down.
How are you today Myermay?

hello all .. just sneaked in cos I was on the due May 2004 thread and I'm having a nosy

myermay .. I've heard that doppler theory before but have to say that DS heartbeat was consistently in the 160s and DDs was in the 130s so didn't work for me

although I do have this other theory on libido .. if you're randy its a girl, if you couldn't bear the thought a boy

I'm having about six girls then

fisil · 23/10/2004 15:21

Some woman sat down in front of me on Thursday and said "it's a girl." Then her friend sais "she's never been wrong, you know!". So, there you go!

We will find out at the next scan if we can. We didn't want to last time, but this time we do - partly because we have one unused girls name sitting around and don't want to go to all the hassle of finding a boys one if we don't need to! I passionately want both a boy and a girl. I would love two boys, and I know what to do! But one of each quite appeals too!

PS I am now an imposter on this thread as my due date has been put back to 26th April - however, that's because they will only officially change if it is 8 days out - and mine was only about a week out! And I'm always late anyway. Still holding out for 5/5/05 - should be my induction date now!

northstar · 25/10/2004 13:28

Hi everyone, hope you are all starting to feel better? I have lost that horrendously tired feeling, did housework all morning and now ds is in bed for a nap and i didnt even go as mn was calling me.

Fisil, are you on half term and are you catching up on your sleep like you promised?

Our play-school is closed for the week, it's heartbreaking but i will manage.

What are you all doing today?

Uwila · 25/10/2004 13:53

Ohhhh.... I am so jealous. I am sooooo tired, always.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ...

northstar · 25/10/2004 13:57

Ah uwila I am a new person - it is lovely to be back to normal - i just love the next few months. Only one thing at the moment i look fat, and i want to look slim but pregnant WHAT ARE THE CHANCES?

Uwila · 25/10/2004 14:12

I wouldn't be qualified to advise on skinny pregnancies. I'm 5'-1" and I blow up like a baloon the second the egg is fertilised. My clothes are ALREADY too small. I am now wearing my fat clothes that I bought just after the last pregnancy. And I definitely have abump. It seems impossible to already be fat. But then I look in the mirror and remember that seeing is believing!

Oh, aren't I cheery one today...

northstar · 25/10/2004 14:15

mmm, we're FAT. I'm 5'2 so short and fat. Yep, got bump in front and big ass out back - have to face the facts though it's going to get a hell of alot worse before it gets better!
Although reading back a few weeks it's nice to be worrying about getting fat instead of m/c

I sympathise myermay. I only started wearing size 12s earlier this year, so they've already all gone into storage! Going maternity clothes shopping this week!

Northstar - impressed you got all the energy - that must be where mine went! I am trying not to sleep. I am not sleeping very well at night, so I'm taking the opportunity of not being at work to see if I can sleep better by not taking a day time nap. I've never had problems sleeping before and always enjoy a daytime nap, but I hate this waking up between 3 & 5 a.m. and not getting back to sleep - so I'm seeing if I can solve it!
