ALSo has anyone noticed change in there skin? I have had great skin on my face up until I started taking folic acid and now it’s blotchy itchy and red, I have been using simple facecream and Home made face mask or cucumber and oats every other night to hydrate . Any good skin creams out there to stop me breaking out in spots and becoming itchy?

allthegoodnamesalreadytaken · 27/10/2018 07:29

twinklerock i usually have pretty bad skin but the one plus side of pregnancy is that it usually gets lots better. I find dermalogica products quite good

I got an early scan with DD last time due to previous mc x2 but this time round the midwife said they have changed the guidance to only offering early scans after 3 mcs. I think I will book a private one for 8 weeks as I don't think I can wait until 12 weeks. Groupon have a couple of good offers on early scans at the moment. At least we will be able to tell everyone at xmas as well. Has anyone given any thoughts to how they will break the news? With DD we had xmas cards made with the scan photos saying "merry xmas from the bump see you in 2016" It was lovely seeing everyone's faces as they opened it.

Starryeyed1001 · 27/10/2018 07:57

I don’t think I could wait til Christmas to tell everyone, I think we are going to tell people next week maybe x definitely going to try and have an early scan though x

edinburghlass1991 · 27/10/2018 09:24

They said that by 8 weeks if a everything looks ok then mc risk falls to 2% which is why they are doing it. I’ve started cramping today so I doubt I’d get there anyway

Morning all,

Firstly, @edinburghlass1991 I know it is anxiety inducing but aren't cramps normal in early pregnancy? I understand your need for not wanting to get your hopes up xx

@TwinkleDay my skin has actually improved. The past few months I've not been able to get rid of spots. I always seem to have one going or one coming. Weird after years of clear skin. Now my skin is much better and I've not had a spot since before my BFP. I hope it stays that way! Re your skin, I wouldn't bother with lotions and potions, it'll be hormone related so maybe look closer at your diet instead? Obviously this is not the time to cut things out of your diet but maybe cut down on diary a bit? Or gluten? Just a thought Smile

Re scans, the sooner the better for me. I just need to see my baby. It might only be 2% chance of miscarrying by 8 weeks, but we still lost our baby at 9 weeks and there is never ever a 'safe' time in my experience. I think I just need to see something so I know I'm not imagining things and I'm so worried about a missed miscarriage again. The thought of happily enjoying my pregnancy when it's ended without me even knowing fills me with absolute dread. I can't go there again. If I have to pay for a private scan at 6 weeks then I will.

I don't know whether to stay positive or be realistic at the moment. I've stupidly given our little apple pip a name which already means I'm too attached Sad I've called him/her Popsy from last week when they were a poppy seed.

Has anyone else named their little bean?

TwinkleDay · 27/10/2018 12:27

Thanks for that guys, I’ve gone out and bought a new toner and lotion from the La Rochelle range in boots. I have a good diet I have gone off sugar unless it’s in a smoothie or fruit, I have started in bread for lunch with soup as it fills me up and didn’t eat much before and I have changed to full fat yogurt rather than 0% as needed for calcium. So will see how me and twinkle get on x

Frazzlerock · 27/10/2018 13:31

@TwinkleDay sorry I just read my post back and it comes across as really patronising. It totally wasn't meant to be. I hope you didn't take it that way x

silverrose56 · 27/10/2018 14:30

Hi everyone,

I'm tentatively joining you all. I had two faint positives yesterday and all being well I'm due 2nd July.

This will be DC2 for me. DS is 20 months and still not sleeping through so this could be interesting 😬

crakpot1 · 27/10/2018 14:35

Hope everyone's having a good Saturday :) how's everyone feeling I feel so tired today and I have to turn myself into a nun for a Halloween party later! Little did I know when I bought it I would actually be a pregnant nun lol

edinburghlass1991 · 27/10/2018 16:46

What’s everyone’s Clearblue digit saying mine says 1-2 which I think isn’t enough?

OP posts:
allthegoodnamesalreadytaken · 27/10/2018 17:27

@silverrose56 DD only just started sleeping through very recently when she turned 2 so I know the feeling well. Hopefully your toddler will start doing the same before the birth! I'm convinced EBF is to blame!

@edinburghlass1991 I didn't do CB digital unfortunately only FRER. Did you use FMU when you tested? I've had cramping too so I know it can be worrying but i've heard it's only concerning if it's combined with bleeding.

Trying not to get too excited too as there are so many potential pitfalls but at the end of the day we all made it here when many others haven't so will just be positive, take each day as it comes and celebrate the fact that today I'm pregnant

edinburghlass1991 · 27/10/2018 17:41

I’ve retaken it now say 2-3 was ! I’m going to stop testing now otherwise I’d become a mess. I hate what pregnancy does to me. Today iam pregnant

Frazzlerock · 27/10/2018 18:04

Hi @silverrose56 welcome!

@crakpot1 have fun at the party! We are also off to a Halloween/friend's 50th tonight so we are getting dressed up too. I'm a blood sucking vampire . I'm also shattered. Just had a 2 hour nap 💤

@allthegoodnamesalreadytaken yes! I love your style.... Today we are pregnant!

@edinburghlass1991 step away from the piss sticks! And just take it really easy. If it's any consolation I've been having very mild niggles low down. I'm assuming/hoping it's stretching

TwinkleDay · 27/10/2018 18:17

@crakpot1 pregnant nun this made me lol! I’m going at a shark next week to a Halloween party.

@Frazzlerock no worries I have come down with a right snotty cold and sore throught, annoying as now I can’t take cold and flu relief tablets :( so on paracetamol and will have to get some lemon and ginger tea bags.. away for the weekend so not Handy and feeling nauseated the past two days too :(

MummyG82 · 27/10/2018 18:24

Hi everyone, Smile
Fingers crossed I can stay in this group. So a little background. I had a mc 10 years ago, then had my ds who will be 6 in Jan.
Back to now, I have felt so sick for the last week and shattered, back ache, boobs hurt etc etc, I'm due on on Monday ish. So couldn't wait any longer so did a frer 6 days sooner test on Thursday and I got two very strong lines! Yay! But I already have a tiny bump so I'm wondering if I'm further than I think!? Due date 9th July, or am I just bloated!? I don't know, also the strong positive has surprised me! Xx

Barker26 · 27/10/2018 18:36

Can I join? Had my bfp on Thursday confirmed on Friday with a digi! This will be my first ! Will be making an appointment on Monday. Can someone tell me do i make an appointment with GP or midwife ? Or do i just ring them and say I've had a positive pregnancy test ? Thanks!

allthegoodnamesalreadytaken · 27/10/2018 19:09

Welcome to all the new ladies and congratulations!

@MummyG82 it could be you are further along than you think or maybe twins my strong line came a few days after AF at about 16dpo

@Barker26 it varies according to your area. Where I am you just self refer to the midwife team at the local hospital by sending an email. The midwife then contacted me and arranged a home visit for mid november which will also be my booking in appointment. She also submitted a referral for a scan appointment. Some areas you may have to contact a GP for the referral. Best thing to do is a have a look at the maternity section on the website for the hospital/ birth centre where you would like to give birth

Halloween costumes sound fab!

Starryeyed1001 · 27/10/2018 19:22

@edinburghlass1991 mine said 2-3 weeks when I did mine but I did read that because the amount in your urine can fluctuate it doesn’t necessarily mean anything x also the battery on mine has already run out, was going to take a photo of it this morning and it had disappeared 😩

MummyG82 · 27/10/2018 20:03

@allthegoodnamesalreadytaken thank you. I did wonder twins Shock here is a pic of the test. I'm wondering about doing a clear blue digital test so see how many weeks but I don't think it'll be worth is as they only show up to 3 + weeks n I know I'm that already, well according to my due date calender I am Confused.
My husband has twin siblings but I have none in my family but I am over 35 n have read the possibility of twins rises. Oh well I guess I'll have to wait till the end of November when my midwife appointment is booked. Xx

Laburna · 27/10/2018 20:12

@MummyG82 mine line was that strong, I assumed it was just because I was properly pregnant. It was mid-afternoon and not FMU too.

(I'm hoping that's the case, I'm 38 and in no-way wanting twins!) 😂🤣

MummyG82 · 27/10/2018 20:20

@Laburna I'm glad I'm not the only one on the twin front 😂, I'm 36, what will be will be though I suppose. I was 14dpo I believe and tested mid afternoon. Xx

silverrose56 · 27/10/2018 21:20

@allthegoodnamesalreadytaken there is hope! I blame EBF too, although DS also had bad reflux so that didn't help.

I think the bloating has already started for me, my jeans were definitely tight this morning Blush

Belmo · 27/10/2018 23:36

Ooh I’ve got the twin fear too! Have only peed on two sticks today, which is an improvement- I think it’s starting to sink in!

ratherbeshowjumping · 28/10/2018 08:33

Hi ladies can I tentatively join please? EDD 5th July. We had a mc last year so think we will be getting a reassurance scan at 7 weeks too! Feeling absolutely rubbish, like the worst hangover I've ever had, exhausted, killer boobs & quite a bit of nausea already.
Is anyone else really emotional too? I'm finding myself welling up at the news, adverts 🙈

Laburna · 28/10/2018 08:47

I have zero appetite at the moment, I have a horrible acidy taste in the back of my throat constantly and feel so sick, which I'm sure would be helped if I ate something, but nothing takes my fancy :(

@ratherbeshowjumping I keep welling up over the most ridiculous things, and had to turn off the SU2C thing on channel 4 the other night because I was in floods of years at the first story thing!

My DS sleeps through the night (mostly) but he's a crack of dawn waker 😔 it's only when he wakes in the night we make it past 6, he's normally up and wanting to get going at 5!
