@napssavelives sorry you feel so rotten. I always tell myself the same too - if I feel this ill then things must be going ok!! Hope you're better soon.
Sorry I haven't got round to replying to everyone as thread moves so fast but hope you are all doing ok.

Reastiepeace · 02/11/2018 08:00

I remember the most positive book I read was ina May gaskins guide to childbirth. The first half was positive birth stories but it was the second half that I found I got the most from. It’s slightly hippyish in places but I was petrified of giving birth and found it the most positive and reassuring book about birth.

stellarfox · 02/11/2018 09:13

@Kescilly Sorry youve met some ignorant people. Unfortunately there will always be some ignorant people anywhere you go! Most people I would hope are not like that. We just got back from New England last week and we loved it and the traditions! We were inspired to join in with Halloween this year and it was great! I wish we had thanksgiving too. I love any festivities :)

Just a reminder has everyone booked their flu jab? I’m sat next to someone at work that’s just come back after having flu and tonsillitis so I’m a bit worried!! Mine isn’t booked until 13th!

annihall · 02/11/2018 10:09

@stellarfox my midwife said not to book flu jab before I'm 12 weeks, so haven't booked it yet...

Anyone had it before 12 weeks? I'm getting worried too that I might catch the flu before then... and I'm allergic to paracetamol so couldn't even take any painkillers

Torsz · 02/11/2018 10:13

@annihall I had mine at about 7 weeks - the doctor said it was fine anytime ☺️

fee1234 · 02/11/2018 10:22

@annihall my midwife said to get it as soon as I could. Getting it next week and I will be 10 weeks

Kescilly · 02/11/2018 10:22

I had mine done early, at what ended up being the same time that we conceived. I’m really careful about illnesses because I have asthma and a poor immune system, so I try to have good habits in general.

Don’t be afraid to keep your distance from people if they’re sick, just say something about being run down and doctor’s orders or whatever you need to make up. You could even say that you’re coming down with something and don’t want to pass it on. Keep hand sanitizer at your desk or in your bag and be good about washing your hands.

Ask your other halves to be good about hand washing and exposure as well. Pretty much everything I’ve picked up in the last year has been passed to me by my husband. He gets a flu jab every year now to help protect me.

I know it sounds paranoid, but this has helped me cut down a lot on illnesses so it could help you guys until you’re better protected.

Reastiepeace · 02/11/2018 10:56

And we have the joy of pg causing a lower immune system now don’t we. I haven’t had my flu jab as I’ve got a sore throat atm and they tell me to wait until I feel more healthy. Plus I feel like death with nausea already and haven’t left the house really in a couple of weeks anyway. I’m getting cabin fever but I’m too poorly to face the outside world.

KoalasAteMyHomework · 02/11/2018 11:38

I had mine last week at 7 weeks because they did it when I took my son in for his fly spray. I didn't realise how serious flu can be for the baby in pregnancy! Nurse said flu jab can be anytime in pregnancy, its the whooping cough one they do later on.

wanderlustgirl · 02/11/2018 11:45

Found out last night that I am 6 weeks pregnant due end of June with my first!

Had weird tummy feelings yesterday and did a test. Very little in terms of other symptoms yet but I've done 3 tests.

Anyone else reassure me this is all ok? Xx

SomeKindOfMadness · 02/11/2018 13:05

@wanderlustgirl I am 6 weeks pregnant and don't seem to have many symptoms yet either.

Reading some of the comments on her I'm feeling pretty lucky so far!

Mrsssmith11 · 02/11/2018 13:06

Hello all.

9+0 today and have now thrown up every day for at least the last week. I know it is a good sign but DD is starting to ask questions now! It's only a matter of time before she tells someone mummy keeps being sick every day. Only 2.5 weeks until my scan so can tell everyone then. Hoping to feel better by then too.

@Wanderlustgirl totally normal to not have any other symptoms yet. You might be lucky and not suffer, or they might just be about to kick off.

Kescilly · 02/11/2018 13:55

@Mrssmith11 I’m sorry that you’re feeling so awful. I don’t know how you ladies with nausea manage to push past it and carry on with everything.

I’m feeling more positive now as I’ve had a call from the hospital to book me in for some tests because of my various conditions. I finally feel like my health is being taken more seriously and it’s such a weight lifted.

MauisLeftNipple · 02/11/2018 14:53

I made my booking appt online yesterday. I added a request for a morning appt if at all possible, as that is when my nausea is the least worst. Got a text today with a 7pm appt. Grrrrr.

Saw GP this morning and she was happy to prescribe anti sickness meds, so I decided to try cyclizine (again).

Fingers crossed!

toomanyflatwhites · 02/11/2018 15:30

Hmmm I'll be 8 weeks on Tuesday and still haven't heard anything about my booking in appointment 🤔 it's a self-referral form for me (big London hospital) and I didn't want to send it off too early but think it's been 2 weeks since I sent it now. I have tried calling but just get the answerphone - I suppose as long as I get a scan on a reasonable date it doesn't really matter when the booking in happens does it? Has anyone else had a "late" first appointment?
Might need to go ahead and book my 10 week harmony test though as suddenly it doesn't seem that far away!

MauisLeftNipple · 02/11/2018 15:52

toomanyflatwhites My last pregnancy (3rd) I didn't have my booking appt until a week after my scan! They were so far behind. It was GP referred as well so I didn't even know who to call and chase. I would leave a message on the answerphone saying you're still awaiting a date.

The scan is the important thing. If you are having the Harmony I think they date you at that, if you haven't already had your NHS scan, so you should be ok from that perspective.

pollykins151 · 02/11/2018 15:54

@toomanyflatwhites last time
My booking in was at 11+6. Was annoying but no problems arose because of it.

Update from me.

Had my booking in app yday. Mentioned to Midwife I have had bleeding on and off. She said to phone EPU if I was worried. I had been trying not to worry as had it last pregnancy and all was well. Anyway I phoned them and went for a scan today.

Bubs measuring correctly for dates. Heartbeat seen. Said can see No reason to worry. Also could see no reason for bleeding and said some people just do. I am just going to have to accept that I am one of those people. Though it’s very irritating.

I think I was more convinced something was wrong as I don’t really have any obvious symptoms. Suppose I should just count myself lucky in that respect.

No picture but im happy with what I saw and what they said and that I saw the heartbeat 💗

Only couple more weeks til my 12 week scan now.

Hello to any newbies I have missed. Sorry to anyone who has had bad news or is in limbo.

Happy weekend to all x

socktastic · 02/11/2018 16:24

@JBCG I bought my dh 'commando dad' which he didn't read which I found very interesting. It's more about when the baby is actually here though and all the things he could be doing. Not that he did any of them

Remind me why I'm doing this a second time around?

pollykins151 · 02/11/2018 16:37

@socktastic yes my hubby had that (and didn't read it) I think it's fab!

BeautifulBlue · 02/11/2018 16:40

Hi everyone! Haven't caught up since the last thread, so hi to all the newbies! I had some severe cramping yesterday (9+4 today) spoke to the GP who sent me for an early scan to rule out ectopic. I went today & saw baby, all is well Smile unsure what caused the pain but it has stopped now, cervix closed, baby in the right place & a strong heart beat. Picture - I'm surprised how grown baby looks already! Give some of you ladies an idea of what they look like at this stage if you haven't had a scan yet Smile
