@socktastic thanks ☺️ it shouldn't be too bad except some London travel which is going to be hard when tired!

It's a bit awkward as I turned down the job back in January as I didn't want to risk getting pregnant and losing out on maternity pay, but then got offered it again in August and decided to go for it - typical huh! And my manager has been struggling with no support for the past year until I joined so will be devastated to hear I'm going off too 😝

I'm sure they'll be okay with me, just don't want to tell them until I've had my 12 week scan!

hexagon01 · 31/10/2018 08:19

I’ve accidentally turned up to work in a dress that makes me look quite pregnant 🙀 hopefully no one will notice...

LivingOnAPear · 31/10/2018 08:37

@JBCG thinking of you today. Hope you get some answers Flowers

@SpunBodgeSquarepants I’ve managed to find a private scan for £42 ( usually around £100 in my area too). Not sure what it will be like but will find out later today. This is in West Sussex but I know another place in Kent where I went last time which was £60ish and they were very good. Are you anywhere near these places? Couldn’t justify paying loads as having private harmony test and another scan at 10 weeks.

@Reastiepeace that sounds awful, hope you start to feel better soon.

rollerskaterdata · 31/10/2018 09:08

@Azure83 I'm so sorry to hear about your loss hun xxx

@JBCG I hope you get some answers soon

I've been rubbish at keeping up, sorry ladies. This move has completely consumed my energy and thoughts and I'm trying to sort as much as I can before I go back to work. I also realised I never updated regarding my spotting and scan, I haven't had any since wiping those two times nearly a week ago now, and my scan was perfect. Apparently caused by my implantation bleed making a late appearance! There's still some left in utero that may either come out or get absorbed by my body, either in fine and baby is completely unaffected. I'm finally seeing my midwife for the first time tomorrow at 1 day shy of 10 weeks! Hoping I get my 12 week scan date soon after. I'll try catching up and hope everyone is ok x

@LivingOnAPear I'm unfortunately not near those places, I'm near Reading. I did look on Groupon for those £39 scans and the nearest one was inner London! Not worth the hassle! I think I'll end up waiting till 12 weeks. With my first pregnancy I started feeling movement at 12+5! Just seems mad that doctors/midwives just take our word for it till that point that were pregnant. A full 8 weeks from that BFP to seeing actual proof there's a baby in there....

toomanyflatwhites · 31/10/2018 10:04

Thinking of you @JBCG

And @hexagon01 my fear is that MOST of my clothes will soon fall into the category...only 7 weeks and I definitely have a round tummy already! Maybe because it's my 2nd and because I'm much slimmer than before I got pregnant first time, who knows, but I'm worried about being able to keep it secret for another 5 weeks!

Also - someone who sits in my office (not a direct colleague) just announced she is pregnant with TWINS! Funny thing is that I had guessed about 4 weeks ago - but when I asked she says she is 2.5 months so probably only about 3 weeks ahead of me. The temptation to say "me too!!" was almost too great...I might tell her in confidence later.

Torsz · 31/10/2018 10:37

Just a quick update - I phoned again today and they've now had my faxed paperwork and I have a scan booked for the 15th which is one of the few dates I can make - such a relief! Feel a bit silly now for being a drama queen - can I blame the hormones?

Hope you all have a good day and have positive scans x

stellarfox · 31/10/2018 11:54

@toomanyflatwhites Same here one of my colleagues is due in April and I wish I could tell her!

@Torsz glad you got it sorted!

Another work dilemma... a more senior post to mine has just been advertised at work. I have been working towards it. It’s more money. The deadline for applying is next Sunday. It is essentially the same job as mine but a bit more complicated work (which I am basically already doing). Do I apply for it or not? I still need to check the maternity leave guidelines but I am tempted as baby isn’t due until June it’s still a while away. Or is it inconsiderate to apply? It might be a bit extra stress too!

Torsz · 31/10/2018 11:57

@stellarfox thank you! I personally would apply - I wouldn't have knowingly changed companies whilst pregnant but I wouldn't have any concerns around changing role within the same organisation, particularly this early on ☺️ as long as it won't bring too much stress then I say go for it!

LeslieYep · 31/10/2018 12:01

@spunbodgesquarepants if you can make the drive to Marlow, the baby scan studio do private early scans from 6 weeks. I think it was about £60 when I went, but that was 2016.

LeslieYep · 31/10/2018 12:03

Also have a work dilemma! I'm in the civil service and get a great mat leave package, good pay, leave etc.
I applied for a job with another department (not linked) before I knew I was pg and have an interview on Tuesday!

I'd love this job, (doing same thing, but they give a shit about training me and promotion!) But I doubt if qualify for maternity leave. Bugger.

toomanyflatwhites · 31/10/2018 12:16

To those having the work dilemma, I applied for an internal secondment and got my BFP 3 days before the interview. Got offered the job but then current team fought to keep me (with the same promotion...) so I turned down the other job but now am super nervous that it won't be finalised/confirmed before I get to 12 weeks and am also really (extra) stressed about telling work. So I think it depends a bit on your personality, I probably wouldn't have gone for it but DP was mega keen, and I have found the whole process super stressful. So by all means if you still get mat pay as before go for it, but be aware that you might feel extra stressed about the fact you have a secret!!

Reastiepeace · 31/10/2018 12:19

Leslie would the maternity leave thing be a deal breaker financially? It’s a tricky one!

LeslieYep · 31/10/2018 14:06

@restiepeace I think it would be.

I'm.wondering whether, should I be offered the job, I could offer to stay where I am and 'use' their maternity leave, then hand in my notice at the end of that and come to work for them.

Seems a bit underhand though. Current employer wouldn't want any of my may pay back either.

SomeKindOfMadness · 31/10/2018 14:09

Hi all Smile

Just found out I'm expecting my second baby on the 28th of June.

I have an 18 month old DS and can't wait for the new arrival.

No major symptoms yet, just a bit bloated and eating a lot!

Curlywurly3 · 31/10/2018 14:21

@LeslieYep that's where I have booked my scan for! Booked it this morning for next week

JBCG · 31/10/2018 14:24

Just been to see the consultant. My HCG levels only went up from 16000 to 17000 in 48 hours so they did another scan. There was something in the sac, which means definitely not ectopic 🎉🎉 still too early to 100% say it’s viable (due to my HCG levels not rising as much as they were supposed to) but the good news is that it’s progressing and developing. He wants me to go back for another scan in a week. So another week of waiting I guess but I suppose that's pregnancy for you!

hexagon01 · 31/10/2018 14:26

This is my work bump (bloat) situation.....back to baggy tops tomorrow!! Only 6+6, absolutely ridiculous.

June 2019 - Thread 2
LeslieYep · 31/10/2018 14:26

@curlywurly3 lovely! We went there a few times for scans and they were really nice. No rushing about and I remember they even warmed the gel first! 😂

You must be local too :) I'm in a village the other side of Bourne End.

hexagon01 · 31/10/2018 14:31

@JBCB glad to hear it’s a positive for now, fingers crossed for the next scan.

toomanyflatwhites · 31/10/2018 14:49

Oh wow @JBCG that sounds much more positive than you were expecting! Really hope this is the start of the good news for you.

And don't worry @hexagon01! I think we always think it's blindingly obvious but the truth is other people often don't pay that much attention to us! Love the ghosts though 👍🏻

As of today I have got mega pregnancy nose and think it could be the start of the nausea...everyone and everything smells AWFUL and catching the tube this morning (and getting held in a massive crowd control situation in the station) was hell on earth. Eating seems to keep it at bay so I just haven't stopped all day!! Also today is the first day (maybe in my whole adult life?) of ZERO coffee. Am miserable without it (I love the ritual of it....) but finally realised its making me feel awful. Hopefully I can get back to it again soon as I did after a brief reduction/pause in my first pregnancy.

Curlywurly3 · 31/10/2018 15:04

@toomanyflatwhites I can't stop eating crackers and I be now opened the goodies for any trick or treaters later 🙈 I'll have to tell DP we had a few early visitors.. 😂

@JBCG that news is so much more positive than expected. Keep looking after yourself and FX all is OK at next week's scan x

hexagon01 · 31/10/2018 15:10

@tookanyflatwhites I’m sure sure you’re right but I’m so paranoid! I’m so nauseous all the time now it’s ridiculous and I also just eat and eat and eat!

sk17 · 31/10/2018 15:22

@hexagon01 the bloating is real. My trouser button popped open today at work Blush. Everyone's been guessing i'm pregnant because of the bloated belly

@toomanyflatwhites saaaammee. We have a microwave inside our tiny little office so at lunch time I find myself running outside every time someone warms their food

Kescilly · 31/10/2018 15:35

@JBCG relieved to hear it’s not an ectopic. Sorry that you have to wait another week for more news, I’ll be thinking of you.
