This thread moves so fast, welcome to the newbies! Hope everyone is feeling okay today. @mindthechaos fingers crossed it's just stretching pains x

I'm 9 weeks today, I love seeing my pregnancy app change each week. Bands seem to be working for sickness but they leave really sore marks on my wrists after.

Reastiepeace · 01/11/2018 10:03

Sk17 I agree, these threads are the best. I could not have got through my last difficult pg without my due date group.

Awaiting a call —again— from gp about nausea. I’m struggling so much. I feel like such a weakling but it’s so waring that I spend my evenings sobbing.

Pigriver · 01/11/2018 10:08

Ugh I'm on day 3 of severe nausea (no vomitting) I'll pop out later and try and get some bands. Luckily it's half term this week so no work but DS (3) is home with me. He thinks it's amazing he's allowed to watch TV! I am useless atm and so tired I can cry by 4 pm.
I was hoping to not be so ill this time but I guess this is the price for never being ill normally!

mindthechaos · 01/11/2018 10:12

Thankfully baby is ok and in the right place, I’ve got a lot of fluid in my pelvis which could explain my extreme bloating and pain. They said it could be from lots of things like a cyst bursting again, but waiting to speak to a dr again

LivingOnAPear · 01/11/2018 10:45

Welcome newbies!

Sorry you’re feeling so rubbish on your honeymoon @WeeBean but at least you can laze around I guess.

@mindthechaos is there any chance you can get a scan today to put your mind at ease. I’ve had spotting and pains this pg so know how worrying it is.

@stellarfox I’m still using normal deodorant as only have one brand which actually works for me. so as much as I’d like to be all natural I would be a smelly mess if I gave it up. My friend finds the crystal stuff works really well for her though.

I’m feeling really sick again now and pretty much constantly munching beige food. It disappeared for a couple of days at 8 weeks which made me worry but it’s back with a vengeance now. I was given some tablets but told to take them only when I really need to as opposed to 3x daily. And I don’t have many so I’m trying to ration them. Nearly threw up at the gym on Tuesday so that was a mistake. Am so desperate to start exercising again as I’m getting huge and unfit with all this sitting around eating beige.

Had a scan yesterday and actually cried with relief when I heard the heart beat. I had reservations about the place as they were only £42 but they were really good and they gave me a box of chocolates. The baby measured at 8 /3 which is 2 days behind my dates so now I might need to change my harmony test dates as it can’t be done before 10 weeks.

Still not telling people but I found out yesterday that my husband has told my daughters nursery as they made a comment to me at pick up time. I shouldn’t have been surprised as Last time he announced it in the pub in front of about 10 men when I was only 7 weeks then forgot that he had done so as was drunk. So unbeknownst to me everyone knew and I didn’t get to tell my friends when I was ready.

Sorry this was a bit of a long essay. Didn’t mean to ramble that much.

Bigonesmallone3 · 01/11/2018 10:54

Roll on second trimester 😭
I feel like a shit human atm..
Tired, nausea all day, threw up this morning (praying it's a one off) stroppy, deffo have a bump at 7+2. I'm only thankful the weather is so crap so I don't feel too bad for not getting out when not at work.
Have a private scan booked for in 9 days.

Kescilly · 01/11/2018 11:30

I wanted to add my thanks to everyone on this thread as well. I don't know many people here, certainly no one I could tell about my pregnancy yet. I told my husband I've had more information from you ladies than from the NHS so far!

I've joined a few subreddits and might end up spending more time over there just to be around more Americans. On one hand, being on Mumsnet has been helpful to learn how things work here and to adapt to the culture. At the same time, I've found it increasingly difficult to handle the anti-Americanism I've seen elsewhere on Mumsnet. I've not wanted to isolate myself and only hang out with expats and all, but I've been finding the negativity difficult.

Everyone in this thread has been absolutely lovely, I wanted to make that clear. I'm here for now, I'll see how it goes from there. You've all been really brilliant and supportive.

Ksjourney · 01/11/2018 11:44

Hi Everyone I'm still around. Sorry I have not been posting but I am in sickness hell. Big hugs to all of you who are suffering it is actually awful and you all have every right to cry and curl up in a ball and have zero motivation.
DH and DD have been absolute legends looking after me. I have had to tell work as I am pretty much useless and have had to duck out of calls to rush to the loo - also meant to travel for a meeting in a week which is just not happening. I am in full support of being knocked out for 2-3 months and woken up when this hell is over! Lol.

On a positive had private scan yesterday and everything is proceeding nicely 9weeks so my due date has been brought forward from 6th June to 5th June. Better call up and book the MW Appointment and get that ball rolling for 12 week scan.

Wanted to extend a hug too all of you who are struggling with anxiety, bleeding, ectopic worries and everything in between it must be exhausting and really emotional. Positive thoughts for you all!🤞

@Kescilly please ignore the ignorant people. I am sorry you are feeling isolated (and understandable) but please do stick around ❤️

Sorry for the essay everyone will try to be more involved xxx roll on 16 weeks and hopefully an end to nausea sickness hell 🤢

KoalasAteMyHomework · 01/11/2018 12:06

Glad to hear baby is ok @mindthechaos

Sounds like a lot of us are struggling with sickness or feeling sick! Blargh! Nice to know I'm not alone even though I'd prefer it if none of us felt so grim!

Just had a total meltdown at soft play so that was fun. Ds1 is 3.5 and autistic and soft play was hell today. I try and go at quiet times but it must be some sort of staff development day at a local school as it was packed and lots of bigger kids in the under 5 area. I am terrified of how I'll cope when I'm bigger and then when baby arrives.

sk17 · 01/11/2018 12:10

@Kescilly I am so sorry you came across ignorant people. Hopefully there are none on this thread. We are all here for you if you need any help with literally anything!! Even the british lingo Wink

Kescilly · 01/11/2018 12:41

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound dramatic! Everyone in the June group has been great.

We are probably getting to the point where people have more booking appointments and scans coming up. Anyone have anything scheduled this week?

We are doing a private Harmony test on Wednesday and she offered to do a quick scan beforehand without charging extra. I'm hoping that we will get (good) results back in the next week so we can tell my in-laws two weeks from now.

Napssavelives · 01/11/2018 12:46

I’m seeing the midwife on the 15th, they wanted to see me earlier but I don’t get paid time off for antenatal appointments so had to do it on my day off. Going to book a scan for next weekend. I’m feeling very sick, so much so that I find myself doing an emergency look around when out and about when it hits. Like a oh no I’m going to puke.. but where ?! No actually vomiting yet, just feeling rotten.

Littleray84 · 01/11/2018 12:51

I've got my first midwife appointment on Monday 5th, where I'll be 7 +5 and a private scan on the 10th at 8+3.
Symptom wise i'm feeling nauseas all day too, only actually vomited a few times though. Feeling exhausted and my boobs are so sore, i don't wear a bra to bed and this morning when i got up every footstep was painful🤣🤣

KoalasAteMyHomework · 01/11/2018 12:52

@Kescilly I have my booking appointment tomorrow!

Hope the harmony test and scan go well next week

Blondcat · 01/11/2018 12:56

I have booking appointment with mw tomorrow afternoon. Not planning early scans too much money round here no Groupon deals or anything I can find plus recon I will only be reassured for the day so saving money in case need to pay for the harmony test will see what 12 week scan and tests show first.

coastergirl · 01/11/2018 13:12

I've got a private scan on Saturday morning at 7+3. Can't wait. This week is going quickly, probably because all I'm doing is working and sleeping. No nausea here (didn't with my little boy either) but my boobs are agony and I need to pee all the time. So so tired.

coastergirl · 01/11/2018 13:16

Quick question: are many people getting stretching pains? I'm getting them in the sides of my groin, kind of on the bikini line. Got them before I even found out! It seems to be crazily early for that. I'm only 7 weeks now. My colleague (a mum of twins) is teasing me that it's twins. 🙈

toomanyflatwhites · 01/11/2018 13:19

@Napssavelives isn't it a legal requirement to have paid time off for antenatal care (Unless you are not in uk?). I'm guessing you must have looked into it but that sucks for you!

@Kescilly I hate to hear that you've encountered negativity elsewhere on MN, can't see how it's even relevant where you're originally from??

Torsz · 01/11/2018 13:23

@Kescilly good luck with the test and scan!

I hadn't considered the harmony test but have just been looking into it, I think we'd consider it if our results from the 12 week scan come back high risk. We've already said we wouldn't do anything invasive but hadn't realised there was another option!

hexagon01 · 01/11/2018 13:27

@Kescilly I tend to avoid most of Mumsnet for other reasons but I like the antenatal boards Smile

MauisLeftNipple · 01/11/2018 13:41

Hey ladies. I wasn't going to join a bus until I hit 8 weeks, as had a mc in August, but the nausea has hit very early and I need to have a moan. I hope that's ok? I'll try not to moan too much.

I am currently 5+6 (best approximation as caught first egg after mc). Due end of June. 24/7 nausea started on Tuesday. I've had pregnancy sickness with all of my pregnancies (bar the most recent one), and it's got earlier and worse each time. I might go and see the GP tomorrow and ask for drugs.

I am old so will (hopefully) be having a private Harmony test after 10 weeks. Afaik I can't get it done locally so will have to travel some distance for it.

Reastiepeace · 01/11/2018 13:47

Those who are using the travel sickness bands, do you put them two or three fingers down the arm iykwim? I always thought it was 3 but there seems to be conflicting comments online about 2-3 fingers so maybe I’ve been doing it wrong all these years!

Maui’s it’s so grim isn’t it, I’m signed off with nausea and have barely left the sofa. I’m 6+2 but this has been bad since 4 weeks. I’m on a new prescription once my lovely mum collects it for me to try.

MauisLeftNipple · 01/11/2018 13:56

You poor thing Reastiepeace . What meds have you tried?

My last pregnancy (not the mc) I was signed off work for 4 weeks from 7 weeks. Struggled to get off the sofa. I could barely eat a thing and lost 3 or 4kg. Luckily things started improving at 12 weeks, and by 15 I think I was back to normal. Cyclizine did eff all. I ended up asking for promethazine as had that in pg 1&2. I just took it at night since it made me really sleepy, but at least it stopped the world spinning and I did get some respite from the nausea.

Torsz · 01/11/2018 14:07

@Reastiepeace I did 3 as that's what it said on the instructions for mine, they seemed to work for me but I never had it bad so can't be sure...

Has anyone else sent off the form from their midwife for free prescriptions, and if so, how long did it take to come? I sent mine first class last Tuesday so thought I'd have it by now and am wondering it it's got lost!

MauisLeftNipple · 01/11/2018 14:18

Torsz the prescription exemption card can take ages. If you haven't received it within 2 weeks ring them to check. Last time around my GP was the one who sent it off...they never received it and I had to send another. I was on meds by the bucketload too, but luckily my local pharmacy honoured the exemption anyway.
