@Nightmanagerfan and @Gronk27 , thank you both so much for those - time to get shopping!

Wineandchoccy · 04/11/2018 13:36

My number one top tip for your hospital bag is put a vest, sleepsuit, hat and nappy in a sandwich bag then if DH or midwife have to dress baby they can just grab a bag

Gronk27 · 04/11/2018 13:57

@wineandchoccy good tip! I saw a hospital bag that had been completely sorted into separate bags, one for giving birth, one for after, one for baby, one for going home outfit, etc, etc. I quite like this but I doubt I will get that organised!

Wineandchoccy · 04/11/2018 14:02

My bag was organised when I went in but after 2 days it looked like a right state Grin

Wineandchoccy · 04/11/2018 14:03

Also don’t forget a carrier bag or something similar for dirty clothes, babies and yours Blush Shock

BadBadBeans · 04/11/2018 14:15

Golly guys, your lists are showing some impressive forethought! Pretty sure it took me ages to get one sorted with DS (although I did get an Excel spreadsheet up and running in the end so I made up for it!). I will probably start thinking about things in the new year. We have a good start already with items saved from our son, but I borrowed a pram for him which went back to the owner ages ago, so will need to source another. I have also binned all our disgusting grey muslins and shall be treating myself to a stock of lovely colourful ones!

@Wineandchoccy the sandwich bag outfit grab is a good tip. When DS was born we had brought our hospital bag into the delivery room, but when I got transferred into theatre for the emergency section it got moved elsewhere by a nurse. Poor DS spent his first few hours of life wrapped in a hospital blanket with a hospital hat on, until we were reunited with the bag!

firsttimemumjess1 · 04/11/2018 16:27

Great list @Gronk27 I will be using this for sure! Smile

Hermagsjesty · 04/11/2018 16:29

Just catching up! Have had a lovely relaxing weekend - which we needed after the kids’ first week back at school and the mania of bonfire night and Halloween.

I’m 23wks and feel enormous. I’m definitely overeating (have developed a really sweet tooth and have been dipping into the kids’ Halloween treats a bit too readily, oops πŸ™Š) Trying not too worry about it too much - although I don’t really want to have to splash out on roomier maternity comfy clothes!! The thing I’m comfiest in is maternity dungarees from Jojo Maman Bebe - would definitely recommend. Their 9months and beyond maternity - nursing range is also quite good if you’re planning on breastfeeding, at least you feel like you’re getting a bit more wear out of stuff.

All your lists are very impressive and organised! We’re moving house before Christmas - hopefully exchanging this week 🀞 - so am going to do a big sort of what we all ready have as part of the move and then hit the Xmas sales in January.

SquirtlesMumAgain · 04/11/2018 16:57

Remember with those lists there are lot of things you really won't need for a while (e.g. Sleeping bags don't fit most newborns) so you may want to get to know your baby before investing in some of them.

Great tip on the baby clothes in a bag, and definitely take a laundry bag!

Best tip I got was to put baby butter on their bum (waitrose did an amazing one) ASAP.... You don't want to be struggling to get the tar poo (meconium) off your newborn!

Gronk27 · 04/11/2018 17:12

@squirtlesmumagain Do you just use a blanket to start with then?

Bluebelltulip · 04/11/2018 17:19

Gronk27 we used blankets to start with as sleeping bags have minimum weights.

@Gronk27 yes the sleeping bags all have a minimum weight on them so that they don’t wriggle their heads down.
I used cellular blankets for a while still use them now and dd is 3 1/2

@Gronk27 I had our 20 week scan on Thursday. Had a bit of a crazy week prior to that moving in with the other half so dropped off here for a few days. Did post briefly with a picture which I've put here again for you 😊 all went really well, Hulk is doing great and all looks healthy. Remind me how did yours go, have you had it yet? Sorry if you've already said, my short term memory has been terrible this last couple of weeks! Your job sounds so interesting though! It's going to be very different for you next year for sure!

Gronk27 · 04/11/2018 21:47

@ballanj yes all fine. I had it on the 29th. Little girl! Great pic Hulk looks chilled! Love the foot pic.
