@whatalearningcurve Sorry you're feeling so poorly - fingers crossed the drop does the trick and you feel much better soon.

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 28/10/2018 18:01

Thanks everyone. My wedding day was perfect. Couldn't have gone better despite the rain. Jetting off on a 12 hour flight tomorrow. Anyone got any tips for long haul flights when pregnant!

MsLioness · 28/10/2018 18:41

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever congratulations and glad the day went well!

@whatalearningcurve hope you are beginning to feel better.

I'm just on the train back from meeting my new nephew. He was absolutely lush, it's so nice when they just want to snuggle into you. My sister is finding it a bit tough and it did make me realise how much I have forgotten the newborn phase but I'm honestly so excited to do it again, nearly half way there now!

Wineandchoccy · 28/10/2018 19:05

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever congratulations I flew to China at 17 weeks last pregnancy it was ok but I did keep going for a walk and I told the flight crew as I wasn’t really showing and they really looked after me.

SquirtlesMumAgain · 28/10/2018 21:28

Glad you had a great day @assumeitwassomethingclever

Hope you get out tomorrow @whatalearningcurve

Feeling absolutely shattered here. My mum is really worried as I am falling asleep during the day most days and am wiped pretty much all the time. I have promised I will message the midwife this week and see if she is concerned.

Wineandchoccy · 28/10/2018 21:52

@SquirtlesMumAgain are you taking iron tablets? I have been taking ferrous fumerate since 9 weeks and felt so much better after a few weeks of taking them.

melissa112 · 29/10/2018 06:37

@WhatALearningCurve glad things are moving in the right direction for you. Hope your bloods look ok and you can get home today.

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever congratulations!! Glad you had such a lovely day and enjoy your honeymoon Smile

We've ended up randomly spending a night in Grasmere in the Lakes. OH did the painting on Saturday which smelled fine when I came home yesterday but he also resealed the bath and kitchen sink which smell so strongly that I didn't feel safe in there.

Instead of me spending another night at my nans alone, as we've both got til Thursday off work we booked into a lovely b&b for the night and had a lovely evening.

Scan today though so will be nervously driving back home in a couple of hours. Have to wait til half 5!

melissa112 · 29/10/2018 06:42

@BadBadBeans sounds like you needed that sleep! Glad you you're feeling better for it. I often take myself up to bed between half 8 and 9. I wonder if it gets less tiring at any point from here?!

@SquirtlesMumAgain you really sound exhausted, I'd definitely give the midwife a call in a few days as you say.

@MsLioness congratulations on your new nephew!

frenchgal · 29/10/2018 08:23

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever

Hi I fly a lot (58 flights so far in 2018) so here are a few tips:

  1. get at the airport some flight socks (very important) - get the extra compression

  2. get extra water - you will get dehydrated

  3. if you suffer from contispation/gas, it will be worse during the flight so ensure you have gaviscon etc with you. Avoid soda and anything fizzy, and get some snacks with you (airplane food tends to be carb heavy which can be made worse)

  4. i usually buy ear planes, they are special plane earplugs - as you are pregnant, the air pressure may hurt your ears during descent. If not, suck a hard boiled sweet or chew some gum about half an hour before landing

  5. pillows is a good option especially if you're intending to sleep (mainly for your return flight)

X

cardboard33 · 29/10/2018 08:33

@assumeitwassomethingclever same as French gal, i do a lot of flying for work (although not as many as 58 flights) and in addition to the above, get an aisle seat as then you don't have to ask strangers to get up every time you need to go to the toilet/walk around/need to stretch. Flight socks are also good. I'd never worn them before being pregnant and think they look a little old lady esque but ah well. On long haul flights I also tend to take little slippers and pj bottoms in my hand luggage as they're way more comfortable to wear around the plane.

Enjoy! Where are you going??

@melissa112 good luck with your scan today, your weekend break sounds fab! We are planning on painting lots of rooms over Christmas and hopefully it will be fine. We only moved house in August so there's lots we need to get done before the baby is born and I just don't think that life can stop purely because you're pregnant. I'll do what I can, but husband will most likely be doing the majority of it. He's a perfectionist so gets v annoyed at me anyway as apparently my painting skill is inferior to his...!

cardboard33 · 29/10/2018 08:35

Oh and lots and lots of mosituriser if you're anything like me and have ended up with v dry skin. Even if you havent it will go dryer anyway on a flight so good to be prepared.

Priscilla83 · 29/10/2018 14:29

Over the last few days I've had pain in my upper right abdomen, just below my rib cage. It's a dull ache/sometimes sharp pain that lasts a few minutes then passes. Has anyone had experience of this/similar? I had a ovarian cyst removed 5 weeks ago, wondering if it could still be internal bruising/healing?

Bluebelltulip · 29/10/2018 14:41

Priscilla83 I get a similar pain when baby stretches out but as you had recent surgery I'd probably seek the advice of midwife or GP to be sure.

SquirtlesMumAgain · 29/10/2018 15:22

Same as @Bluebelltulip here, but definitely worth getting checked with your surgery if you are concerned

Priscilla83 · 29/10/2018 16:25

Thanks so much, I'm 22 +3days so wasn't sure if baby would stretch that far. Most of the other movements have been in the mid/lower left side. This is my first pregnancy, do you find is it's hard to know what all the different little niggles are! Or maybe I'm just super sensitive & worry about nothing οΏΌ I'm at the hospital again on Wednesday so perhaps I'll get checked.

Bluebelltulip · 29/10/2018 16:32

I thought it was too early for feet to be up there too but the sonographer confirmed it was by showing me last week, my baby was very stretched out during its scan.

Priscilla83 · 29/10/2018 16:42

Wow that's amazing, you've put my mind at rest. I'll ask on Wednesday too. οΏΌ

WhatALearningCurve · 29/10/2018 20:05

Freedom! Finally home thank god ha

firsttimemumjess1 · 29/10/2018 20:13

Hello everyone! I’m new to this! I’m pregnant with my first baby and my EDD is 25/03/2019.

cardboard33 · 29/10/2018 21:56

@firsttimemumjess1 welcome!! You're due the day after me. It's my first one too (there's a mix of newbies and seemingly veterans here..!) so it's just all new and different atm. When is your next scan?

melissa112 · 30/10/2018 06:26

@WhatALearningCurve yay, glad you're home! All ok now?

Welcome @firsttimemumjess1 first time for me too. How are you finding it so far?

@Priscilla83 sorry, I haven't experienced this yet but maybe worth a check just for peace of mind x

@cardboard33 thanks for the reassurance. A new house is so exciting!

We had our scan yesterday and he's definitely a boy! He was so active, the sonographer joked that she was exhausted afterwards trying to get all the measurements and check everything πŸ˜‚ said I'll be bruised in a few weeks if he carries on the way he is. Little monkey. In the past week what I thought were movements have become more definite and she said he's still bouncing up and down on my cervix which he's done at all the scans! Kicks are now taking me by surprise they are so hard!
I've attached a pic but getting him to stay still long enough was a challenge!

firsttimemumjess1 · 30/10/2018 06:51

Yeah there seems to be loads of us first timers due around the same time. My scan is on 5th November, how about you? I’m looking forward to seeing baby again. Especially as I haven’t felt movement so I’ve been a little worried about that. From what I’ve read it could happen later but hoping the scan will give me some reassurance!

Jenfur · 30/10/2018 06:53

Glad you're home @WhatALearningCurve presumably all is alright now?

Congrats @Angelmiracle and @MsLioness on becoming aunties.

Congrats on your wedding @AssumeItWasSomethingClever glad you had a lovely day.

Lovely scan @melissa112, he looks lovely and calm in the picture, like he was sleeping peacefully the whole time haha

Welcome @firsttimemumjess1

All caught up from the weekend. Dreamt I felt a strong kick the other night then yesterday felt some definite kicks for real (baby must like Mr Kipling lemon slices as the kicking started straight after so obviously I had to eat plenty of them to keep feeling the kicks.....). The kicks were in the same place as the dream ones so wonder if I was actually feeling them in the night and made it into my dream instead.

BadBadBeans · 30/10/2018 06:54

Congrats @melissa112 - sounds like you've got a busy little chap in there! Mine is also much much more active than I remember DS being at this stage - I had my arm on my tummy the other day while lying down and it kicked so hard that my arm jerked - I'm not sure whether it was because the kick moved it or because I was so surprised! Glad you escaped the solvent fumes too - sealant isn't nice and I think you did the right thing. When I was about 7 months with DS the place I was working had their toilets redone, which were right outside the office. The smell of the glue for the floor was awful and I spent the whole day panicking and made everyone near me sit in a massive draught with the windows wide open! So I can relate!

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever I am.so glad the day went well. Have a superb honeymoon!

@firsttimemumjess1 welcome!

@Whatalearningcurve I really hope you are improving still.

I found a lump in my armpit last night, joy! It is quite squishy and I think it is actually excess breast tissue that has grown with my breasts. I had something in a similar place when my milk came in with DS, only it was harder, and the breast clinic scanned it and confirmed it was just excess tissue. However because my mum died v young of breast cancer I have been told by a genetic counsellor to have a low threshold for popping to the GP with lumps, so I shall be ringing up today! Please can this be a friendly reminder for you all remember to check your breasts and armpits once a month ladies! Difficult when they are changing so much I know, but it is still so important x

firsttimemumjess1 · 30/10/2018 06:54

@melissa112 thanks, so far I’ve been feeling ok appart from the usual aches and tiredness. Luckily no sickness! As it’s my first I’ve been feeling ovwehwhelmed with the vast amount of information our there and the tonnes of stuff I need to buy!
