@Kee80 mine is partially covered I have a scan at 33 weeks to check the babies bright bowel and they will check it then I have also got one booked at 36 weeks just in case it’s not moved.
Congratulations on your news Smile

Kee80 · 31/10/2018 14:00

@Wineandchoccy thank you.

Mine is fully covered and because of previous c-section it needs to have moved st least 2.5cm away from my cervix to be able to have a VBAC.

Hope everything goes ok at your next scan

HidCat · 31/10/2018 20:37

@cardboard33 we're at a complete loss with names right now. Thank God we have 5months to decide!

@ballanj congratulations on settling in with OH and your little boy!

@Kee80 congratulations on your little girl.

Marmite2018 · 31/10/2018 21:11

Hi @Kee80 I also have a low lying placenta and have to return at 32 weeks to check it's moved. The sonographer seemed pretty optimistic saying there was a 9/10 chance it would move! Fingers crossed for us both!

Kee80 · 31/10/2018 21:36

@Marmite2018 she also said that mine was at the back and due to me having a previous section and the placenta being where it is it's more than likely mine won't move. Fingers crossed for us both though

How is everyone?

Does anybody else feel like they have been pregnant for ages yet it is also going fast at the same time?
Just seen something on the tv about the hot summer/world cup and that is when we found out I was pregnant and that seems such s long time ago.

It’s a weird time 2nd time round no more midwife appointments until December, to early to pack bags and we already have everything so no baby shopping trips required.

Murphyrocks · 02/11/2018 08:22

@Wineandchoccy yes I feel a bit like that too - similar to parenthood I guess I can't believe ds is 2 already but at the same time I can't really imagine a time when he wasn't here! I'm almost 23 weeks now which simultaneously feels really far along and like I've got such a long time to go! And I can't decide if I want time to go really quickly or to slow down so I can make the most of my last pregnancy! Such a weird time isn't it?!

PurpleFlower1983 · 02/11/2018 09:55

It is a strange time, I’m 23 weeks today and she’s kicking loads now but I keep forgetting about it! My bump is getting bigger but it’s nit obvious to anyone who doesn’t know me so I think it will become a bit more real when strangers start to notice.

wordsmithereens · 02/11/2018 10:58

Yes, it's odd! I've started getting random congratulations from acquaintances now when I wear certain clothes, but I was also told the other day that I wasn't very big for 5 months. I do actually feel quite bumpy now when I'm on my own, but then I go along to mum's sessions with women who are further along and I suddenly don't! Grin

Went to my first hypnobirthing practice class on Monday (haven't done the actual course yet). Baby seemed to love me doing deep breathing, she was having a right party through me doing all the relaxation exercises. Grin

Congrats on everyone's beautiful scans and welcome to any newcomers. :)

LittleKitty1985 · 02/11/2018 13:35

I was in sunny Cyprus last week wearing much less clothing and several shopkeepers commented on my bump, which was nice but a bit weird. Whereas it's so cold here now that I'm wrapped up in layers and no one can tell. I kind of miss the attention haha.

Angelmiracle · 02/11/2018 14:26

I'm 19 weeks today and although family think it's flying in I could have baby any day now. We've waited so long for this one I've no patience to keep waiting. However 20 week scan in 2 weeks and after that need to get pram car seat and crib.

SquirtlesMumAgain · 02/11/2018 15:04

Does feel a bit in limbo, scan is on Tuesday which I guess will help but with still feeling rubbish and the extra worries this time it just isn't as exciting as with DS I guess.
I think it will be better in the new year when we can start washing up baby clothes and getting things ready

BadBadBeans · 02/11/2018 16:27

Had my scan! All good - baby was in an awkward position and wouldn't move but she just about managed to see everything she needed to. My photos are crap but never mind! Didn't find out the sex in the end so that is that now - it will be on the day! Also got booked in for a C-section - no pressure whatsoever from the doctor to try for a VBAC. And I had my whooping cough jab done then and there too - I must say I am impressed with how efficient and joined up everything is in this trust!

Priscilla83 · 02/11/2018 17:34

@BadBadBeans glad the scan went well. I've had a few now where the pictures weren't great. But it's great knowing baby is ok.

Did you chose to have an elective csection or have you got other health issues so was recommended it by consultant obstetrician? The reason I ask is, that I've had lots going on with my pregnancy so far (hospital admissions & taking medication for HG, low BP & heart condition causing fainting, laparoscopic & laparotomy surgery for ovarian cyst removal - this is 6 weeks ago now).

Community midwife has said pregnancy is high risk so has referred me to consultant obstetrician who I'm seeing in December. At a heamatology appointment earlier this week there was a duty obstetrician sat in, she didn't know my history and hasn't been involved at all. I brought up that I wanted to have an elective csection (I was interested to know if there would be issues with blood clotting/a need for blood thinning injections as I was at a heamatology appointment). This duty dr told us that "in her opinion it wasn't necessary & recovery time is much longer". Given I've had major abdominal surgery and it has taken 6 weeks to recover I think I understand the recovery from csection will be difficult. But she wasn't interested in my thoughts or questions and told me to ask the consultant when I see them in December.

Did you have to make a case for having an elective csection? Anyone else got experience of this? I was so taken aback by this Dr it wasn't until we had left the appointment that it filtered through to me. I've been really upset since, felt belittled and ignored. I've been back to midwife today and she has reassured me sobfeeling a lot better. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Wineandchoccy · 02/11/2018 20:47

DH has just felt the baby kick for the 1st time every time he has put his hand there before it has stopped Smile

HidCat · 02/11/2018 21:04

@Priscilla83 I don't think the midwife would be the best person to advise on the cs, she probably could have handled it better but it's up to the consultant so she probably didn't see the need to get into it. I'm sure it will be fine for you to have one.

Priscilla83 · 02/11/2018 21:33

Thanks. I guess I was wondering what other people's experiences of getting an elective csection has been?

ballanj · 02/11/2018 22:58

Hi @Priscilla83
I can't comment myself on an elective c-section as this is first time around for me and I'm low risk so planning (and hoping) for a vaginal delivery. But I do have a close friend who opted for it when it was her first time around. She was incredibly concerned given her twin's previous pregnancy was complicated and was worried about certain issues being genetic/running in the family that she didn't want to deal with the anxiety when she could make a straightforward decision then and there to have the c-section. I'll be sure to ask her what her experience was and report back on Monday. She got what she wanted in the end that I do know.

rachieachie · 03/11/2018 05:57

Hi all, hope I'm doing this right but I'm new so let me know if I'm being an idiot (likely 😁) - I'm due 19/03/19, found out on Wednesday we're having a boy, and currently awake since 4am with baby having a right old wriggle in there!

Kee80 · 03/11/2018 07:13

Morning all hope everyone is good.

@Priscilla83 I had an emergency c-section with my son. At my booing in appointment my midwife asked if I'd like to try a VBAC, told her I was worried due to my first labour and that I'd prefer an elective c-section. She tried talking me out of it saying VBAC would be best, told her I still wasn't keen so I have an appointment at 34 weeks at the hospital to discuss my options further.

@rachieachie Hi I'm the same due date, also had my 20 weeks scan Wednesday and were having a girl οΏΌ

How is everyone feeling?
I've had some quite painful lower backache and lower stomach ache/cramps last night and this morning. Worried me a little really hoping it's just all stretching. Still feeling baby's movements so this is helping me keep a little calmer

melissa112 · 03/11/2018 08:05

@rachieachie welcome! Congratulations on your baby boy!

@Kee80 I think what you are describing sounds normal. I had something similar last week then got a lot of movement so perhaps everything having a little growth spurt.

@BadBadBeans great news on your scan. Your trust sounds really good! I can't have whooping cough jab til 28 weeks as the nurse at my GP isn't licensed to do it before then. Hope that's not too late.

@Wineandchoccy that's lovely, have you been feeling kicks from the outside for a while?

Has anyone who has felt movement for a while had periods of feeling next to nothing? I've been feeling subtle movements since 16 weeks and over the past week or two they were much stronger. I didn't realise at 16 weeks what they were until I was getting them more regularly. I had my scan on Monday and the week before and the day after that i had some very strong kicks which OH felt once but some were so strong that they really jolted me and took me by surprise.

The past few days I've felt barely nothing. I think I've felt some soft flutters a tiny bit last night but can't even be sure it was baby as seemed too high, or then too far to the right or left. I'm 21+2 so I know it's too early for a pattern but feeling a little worried. Does this sound normal at this stage? Even ate some skittles yesterday and still nothing.

Wineandchoccy · 03/11/2018 08:09

@melissa112 yes I have felt them from the outside and seen them for a few weeks but as soon as I have said look or feel he/she has gone quiet!!
When baby kicks below my belly button they are more noticeable but when it’s moved and they are above they are a lot softer so not as noticeable especially if I’m busy.

Wineandchoccy · 03/11/2018 08:10

@rachieachie welcome to the group Smile

BadBadBeans · 03/11/2018 08:17

@Priscilla83 I had an emergency C-section after induction with my son because of foetal distress. It was a bit scary and I don't want to repeat the experience. I went in yesterday not sure what to expect from the doctor, but he just asked me what I was thinking about the birth and then said that the risk of a second c-section was roughly the same as a VBAC and that it was completely up to me. He said I could choose now or make up my mind later. He did also say that the uterus is better prepared in a second pregnancy and that 3 out of 4 mothers who try for a VBAC manage one successfully. He also said if I had a section this time then I would be advised to also have sections for any future children. But that was it. I told him that I just have little confidence that my body will manage to go into labour naturally and that I don't want to end up in the same situation again, and that I thought I would prefer a more controlled experience.

I did also mention that they found weak antibodies in my blood at the 12 week scan and that the blood department has requested 2 days' notice before any planned procedure in case of transfusion. I was a bit worried that in an emergency situation they wouldnt have time to match bloods for me. He checked with the consultant about that but said it wasn't something to worry about in terms of influencing my decision.

I said I wanted a section. Then he booked me in. That was it. He did give me a booklet to read that explains the risks - interestingly in the booklet it said that after one section I would 'be encouraged' to try for a VBAC. He definitely didn't encourage me! I thought he was very kind and respectful. I was ready to throw in the fact that I had quite bad post natal anxiety, if he was resisting the section, but I didn't need to.

I think it can be a little trickier to get an elective with a first baby but it sounds to me like you have good enough reasons. I reckon you will find the consultant more amenable.
