Sorry @cardboard33 I forgot to tag you in my reply! It’s in the thread! Still getting my head around this Smile

melissa112 · 30/10/2018 07:47

@firsttimemumjess1 that's good that you've had no sickness. There's so much information out there isn't there. I get overwhelmed by all the research on car seats, prams etc!

@Jenfur haha I know, butter wouldn't melt right? We have two other pics and both are a bit of a blur. I've attached one where his hand is over his head and you can see his fingers. Think she got the other pic as a fluke!

@Badbadbeans definitely worth getting the lump checked out. I hope it's some reassurance that you had the same with your DS but hopefully the doctor can provide some confirmation. Hoping all is ok, please keep us updated xx I will definitely give myself a check tonight.

The sealant still smells a little but only if I go into the bathroom so I've got the door shut and window wide open. I can't really afford to keep staying in hotels so really hope I'm not doing baby any harm by being in the house. I must admit that it's on my mind quite a lot but trying to keep sane.

@firsttimemumjess1 welcome to the group Smile

@BadBadBeans I hope the lump is nothing to worry about but definitely get it checked out.

Lovely scan photo @melissa112

BadBadBeans · 30/10/2018 08:01

@melissa112 you'll be fine with the window open and the door shut so don't worry! It will be so minimal as to be negligible. Also - I may be wrong - but I think that once sealant has gone off, ie dried, it's not a problem anyway?

melissa112 · 30/10/2018 08:33

@BadBadBeans I hope so. OH said it dried within an hour but needed to cure. It's now been over 48 hours since he did it so just making sure I cover my nose and mouth when I run in to use the toilet! The rest of the house smells fine so keeping downstairs with all the windows open. I think after seeing little one again yesterday I feel more protective than ever. Is there anything I can do about it at this point?I did have to use the toilet quickly before we left for the Lakes on Sunday and it smelled quite bad but just was in and out so hope I haven't done any harm.

WhatALearningCurve · 30/10/2018 09:28

@Jenfur @BadBadBeans all is good now. Gotta take antibiotics for 5 days and then go back for a check up but all should be sorted fingers crossed! Just going to milk a few days off work now ha

Wineandchoccy · 30/10/2018 10:32

@WhatALearningCurve definitely milk it pregnancy is the best excuse to be looked after

BadBadBeans · 30/10/2018 11:12

@melissa112 honestly I think it's more that you shouldn't be doing the sealing yourself and breathing it in for hours. Using the loo for five minutes will have been fine I am sure!

@Whatalearningcurve fab news - rest up!

Well I've seen a GP already - bless the NHS. He did a full breast exam and has referred me immediately to the breast clinic, not on the basis of the armpit lump actually but because of some definite lumpjness and associated soreness in my left breast. Interestingly I have known that was there for a few weeks (maybe even a couple of months - gulp) but I hadn't worried about it as it felt a bit like when I was breastfeeding so I had put it down to pregnancy changes. My clinic appointment is in a week's time - he literally booked me in while I sat there. He said that with my family history (and the fact that I'm currently waiting for genetic analysis) he would rather the clinic thought he was an arse for referring too early than that he was negligent. I am a big fan of better safe than sorry so I am really happy with that! Now feeling a little nervous about the clinic appointment and worrying that I should have gone earlier about the lumpiness - but need to focus on the fact that the important thing is that it's being dealt with now, and quickly. Because of my mum though I do find it hard to not think through worst case scenarios whenever I have something funny going on with my breasts, so I am going to have to distract myself thoroughly this week! Twenty week scan should help...

melissa112 · 30/10/2018 11:21

@BadBadBeans your GP sounds brilliant. I'm also of the same mind of better safe than sorry. I know things are slightly different due to your family history but I did have, well still do have, a bumpy kind of lump in my breast that was slightly painful and had it checked out a few times and was told that pain in the breast was a good sign. Well not good, but that things that are painful in the breast are actually less likely to be anything sinister. So hopefully the soreness is actually a good thing and points to normal changes? When is your 20 week scan?

BadBadBeans · 30/10/2018 11:42

@melissa112 thank you, that is good to hear and I agree, it is most likely to be normal changes due to pregnancy. I don't feel panicked about it like I have in the past - partly just because I have been through this process a number of times! I have been to breast clinics on five different occasions now and have only once had to have a biopsy. Also, it does feel a lot like when I was breastfeeding; I think that boob is a bit prone to lumpiness. So I shall try to relax as I have wasted a lot of energy (and tears) stressing myself out in similar situations previously! My scan is late Friday afternoon. Still haven't made my mind up whether to find out the sex or not!

BadBadBeans · 30/10/2018 11:59

Now that I know that there is an issue with that boob, it has begun to constantly ache. The brain is a peculiar thing!

HidCat · 30/10/2018 14:22

@WhatALearningCurve I'm glad you're home and on the mend.

@BadBadBeans I'm glad your gp is getting everything lined up to be sure and hope it's nothing to worry about.

firsttimemumjess1 · 30/10/2018 18:49

@melissa112 yes you’re right, there’s too much choice!

Thanks @wineandchoccy

cardboard33 · 30/10/2018 20:05

@firsttimemumjess1 I think mine is on the same day... is that tuesday? I've got several appointments at the hospital next week so can't really remember dates, I just do days and times. I've also not really felt baby yet, I think I've felt something a few times but it's nothing definite but as you say I've also read it can be a few more weeks yet. There's a few of us on this thread in a similar boat whereas some others are feeling it move constantly... so I think we are normal :)

And yep... with you on the list of things to buy front, it's quite overwhelming and I say this as someone who loves planning/researching/getting the best deal etc. There was a massive discussion about pushchairs and car seats a while ago which I plan to go back to at some point.

@badbadbeans we've still not decided whether to find out either... keep changing our minds and husband is away for work atm which isn't helpful. Our target was to finalise our personal top 5 names (in ranking order) by the 20 week scan but I don't think we will... or at least I've not done it! Where is everyone else on the name front?? I don't know when people start seriously discussing it?

SquirtlesMumAgain · 30/10/2018 20:41

We haven't even started looking at names yet. Wasn't fun with DS to be fair. We didn't find out whether he was a boy or girl, and actually his first name was easy as it is a family name for DH but finding a middle name and a girls name was a nightmare. Don't think we would use his "girls name" if it were a girl this time... So back to the drawing board!

Wineandchoccy · 30/10/2018 20:46

@cardboard33 we have a list stuck to the fridge with 12 girls and 6 boys names on it Grin
We are not finding out the sex so will need to choose both.
We have gone off the boys name we chose for dd last time so that is off the list.

MsLioness · 30/10/2018 21:03

@badbadbeans sounds like you've got a great gp there, hope everything at the clinic is reassuring.

@cardboard33 I'm hopeless with names! We didn't find out with my oldest and had still 15 or so names on each list by the time he was born, so he didn't have a name for a good few days even once he'd arrived! I've had a brief look at my old lists and nothing jumps out at me, it's so hard to chose!

Hermagsjesty · 30/10/2018 21:41

@badbeans I hope the clinic puts your mind at rest. It’s natural to be worried. But it sounds like you’re in a really great pair of hands with your GP.

We have our name!! (I think...) We’re not going to make the mistake of telling anyone in real life until he’s actually here though, we did that with DD and my mother in law put DH off one of our favourite names

ballanj · 30/10/2018 22:05

Hi everyone, it's been a crazy busy week. I'm now moved out and in with the OH. We are finding our feet slowly but surely. Have so much catching up to do with reading the thread but wanted to share with you lovely ladies that we had our 20 week scan today and little one is doing well, healthy and we are having a boy πŸ’™πŸ’™ I think the OH was secretly pleased. Very emotional day but just wonderful 😍😍

such lovely scans @melissa112 and @ballanj - I really enjoy seeing them and hearing what everyone else's little monkeys are getting up to in there. I wonder if their personalities will match up when they're born. DP thought our scan just looked like any old *cute) baby, but I've shown him some of yours so he can see they all look pretty different from one another!

@badbadbeans so sorry you're having to deal with this - really glad you have a proactive GP. Here's hoping it's nothing, of course, but I totally get how extra scary it can be with your family history.

welcome @firsttimemumjess1 and any new additions I've missed - this thread moves way to fast for me! Hugs and solidarity to anyone having a rough time right now. My only update is that I have a bladder infection, most unwelcome but fortunately being treated with abx now. I rocked up to the GP with my sample already done, being the proactive pregnant lady with a million sample pots that I now am. Maybe I should just start taking wee wherever I go.

cardboard33 · 31/10/2018 08:35

@wineandchoccy the only reason we are deliberating on whether to find out about the sex is as then we only have to finalise one list of names!! We don't care otherwise but the practical/planner side of us can see there will be so much energy invested in picking a name that isn't going to be used which could be used on something more productive.

We've got the middle names sorted for both sexes as they're family names but we don't want them as first names.

@hermagesty same, once we've decided we aren't telling anyone as otherwise you get people going "oh I knew someone called that and they werent nice" or whatever. But then one of our friends didn't tell people the name but a girl (who we all find really annoying) said "oooh you should name her after me!!" literally a day before his daughter was born. That name was the name they were planning to use but then felt they couldn't as the girl would blatantly think they'd actually named it after her so they had to pick one of their others.

Nightmanagerfan · 31/10/2018 11:19

I'm a bit behind but just caught up on the thread. I've got a random day off, which is bliss, but I completely forgot the cleaner was coming... so as I'm British and can't deal with the awkwardness of having someone clean up around me I've decamped to a coffee shop without having a shower... !

@badbadbeans so sorry to hear of your scare, but sounds like you're going to get answers very quickly - I do hope it's nothing. I've got very lumpy breasts in pregnancy but haven't thought of mentioning it to my midwife, might do next time.

@cardboard33 @hermagesty we feel the same about names as you - we'll decide then not tell anyone until the baby is born. So far we have two girls' names we both love, and no boys' names... the boys' name is becoming a bit of a joke as my DH has what's considered a 'crap name' (think along the lines of Malcolm/Colin and apologies to anyone called this or who's got that on their list!!) so friends keep saying we could just name a boy after DH Grin which is definitely not going to happen!

Anyone else doing pregnancy pilates? i've been doing yoga but just started Pilates as well - so much focus on the pelvic floor. The teacher also teaches post-natal classes so nice to get started now. We also do pilates at work once a week and the teacher is also qualified to teach pregnant women, so she's been giving me adjustments etc. When I think back to how I felt in the first trimester I can't believe I have the energy for all these classes now!

Hope everyone is feeling ok and that those of you who've been sick/had scares etc are doing ok. If it's any consolation I'm still throwing up twice a week on average.

SquirtlesMumAgain · 31/10/2018 13:01

I have had so many girls names ruined over the years after having multiple brownies of the same name being a pain in the backside!!! Thankfully you often get a girl not long after who is lovely and reinstates the name!
It amazed me seeing that Sarah had dropped out of the top 100 popular girls names the other month, especially after there being so many when I was at school. Amazing how popularity of names change

Kee80 · 31/10/2018 13:03

Hope everyone is well. Lots to catch up on, on here.
Had my 20 week scan today all was good and were having a little girl. We are so happy, already have a boy. I burst in to happy tears when she told me.

My placenta is at the back but totally covering my cervix. Have to go back at 30 weeks to check if it's moved if not another c-section. Anyone else have this?
