Morning all

So much to catch up on and not alot of time! Good to see everyone is ok.

Fruitful - did you have a scan? good news the bleeding stopped.

MrsMcJnr - so happy to hear that you're ok. I was thinking about you over the weekend and had no access to a computer!

Beckyau - my ms stopped at 9 weeks as well. I still have other symptoms- tiredness, achey boobs, bizarre cravings but ms left me quite quickly unlike my dd. All pgs are different its very weird.

Housemum - you're weekend sounded fun. My dd spent the majority of it in the paddiling pool - or the 'puddle' as she calls it

Beller - I need to get maternity bras. I think I'm at same stage as you. I have my old ones but they don't look very good after leaking milk at the end of my pg Oh the things to look forward to!

Everyone else - never mean to miss anyone out. There's so many of us. Hope you're all well and growing bumps

skibump · 11/06/2007 11:10

Hi everyone, pc broke down at v bad time. Now in the library! Old news I know, but Fruitful, glad your scan went well. Mine didn't, this time there was nothing there, so sad after seeing the heartbeat twice the previous week. I'll bow out of this thread now, you've all been great, and I hope I'll run into you elsewhere. Good luck to you all xx

beller · 11/06/2007 11:15

Skibump- so sorry to hear that, not much I can say I know, but thinking of you and good luck for the future ((((((((Skibump and family)))))))

MamaMaiasaura · 11/06/2007 11:19

skibump. I am so sorry. (hugs) xxxx

gingeme · 11/06/2007 11:48

Oh so sorry skibump. Feel quite tearful now. (((hugs)))

Thats so handy Beller. Thats a bit like my sil has a little boy who is nearly 4 and my ds3 is 3 so she hands alot of her sons stuff to us Plus my freind whos dd is now a month old has started to collect baby stuff for me and I lent her my moses basket and car seat so they will all be handed back too.

Great hint on the Freecycling Housemum. Ill have a look on there later. Will need a double buggy. Like you say were not superstitoius as we have loads of baby stuff in the shed too.

No fridge!!! Nightmare nearly as bad as no washing machine. Double nightmare. Hope it gets sorted before DD's party....

Bettymamma · 11/06/2007 11:59

I'm so sorry Skibump. That's really sad news. My thoughts are with you. Take it easy and good luck for the future ((hugs too))

katyt1 · 11/06/2007 12:41

so sorry skibump, esp after having seen something there before.
((((hugs))))
good luck

we are having a minor health crisis here. play friend of ds had suspected chicken pox, ok. ds developed some spots, ok. went to doc poss chicken pox? nope says doc.
spots fade, think nothing of it.
ds grumpy yesterday and today, mouth seems to be hurting.
get message from friend's mother, her ds has hand, foot & mouth
prob my ds has it too.
(tho he has produced 2 new teeth overnight so the mouth thing could be from them)

have given him calpol and put to bed, waiting for nurse to call me back.

dilemma - do we go to sing and sign this afternoon????

have already infected (prob) 4 other friends babies on fri, oops

on pg: have first m/w appt for 2 tues time.

hello everyone

beller · 11/06/2007 12:44

Ho long did it take for you MW appts to come through after seeing the doctor? Im 11 weeks on thursday , saw doctor last monday, but no appt yet?

Lozza70 · 11/06/2007 13:01

Hi Skibump so sorry to hear your news. Look after yourself.

Beller I saw the doctor and got a call from the MW 4 days later but she said it was too early to see me and she would not be in touch until I was about 16 weeks. Don't know if this is normal timing or not but I have my 20 week scan booked as I had my dating scan at 7 weeks. It's all very confusing

katyt1 · 11/06/2007 13:08

hi, when i saw the doc she told me to ring the midwives myself. maybe worth calling them? or gp to check you haven't been forgotten!

lozza - that seems very late for first visit. here they want to see you before the scan to take blood.

Bettymamma · 11/06/2007 13:20

I was the same as katy1 - had to book mw myself after gp (but I see the mw at the doctors not the hospital). I was sure they wanted your blood tests done quite soon as well. Beller - I'd call the doctors.

Katy1 my dd has just encountered chicken pox in Tescos with my mum. The girl's mum said oh she shouldn't be out but I needed my food and fags. Nice. Anyway, I'd probably avoid sing and sign especially if he's not feeling great.

Lozza70 · 11/06/2007 13:23

Hi Katyt1

I have no previous experience to go on but I plan to see my gp after my nuchal scan in a few weeks so I will mention it then. Thanks.

MamaMaiasaura · 11/06/2007 14:02

Katy1 - I left messagesfor my midwifes. Apparantly they have to put notes together at the hospital.

Lozza - 16 weeks seem very late. The first appointment is usually before 14 weeks - around 12 weeks i think. The do blood tests etc and apparntly it takes around 40 min. Mine is on Thursday so will let you know how it is going.

BWMum · 11/06/2007 14:15

Beller - I'd definitely contact them yourself. I have been let down by my hospital today (long story below) and am so upset, I had to go to the bathroom at work to have a cry. I feel completely powerless - you just have to rely on other people to receive forms and process them as they should do and if they don't, you're the one left in the lurch.

We are 10 weeks + 3 and today the doctor's surgery phoned to say Kingston are full and won't take me. This because Kingston twice lost my papers from the doctor (first sent on 18 May, when there was planety of time). We are now left with St Helier (locally known as St Hell Hole. I wouldn't send my cat there to have kittens, let alone go there myself) or Chelsea & Westminster. C&W is a 40 minute drive from our house on a good day so if I go into labour during the busy work day, chances are I'll be having this baby in the car. St George's in Tooting, which is much closer, is evidently not on the referral list for some reason, although the (very nice) lady at the doctor's has promised to try them for me.

So, no hospital even let alone a date for a nuchal scan! I'm so angry and so upset. It's probably preg hormones as well but I'm just not really managing to see the bright side right now.

gingeme · 11/06/2007 15:03

Housemum please could you give me the address for freecycle please?

beller · 11/06/2007 15:12

That terrible BWmum, hope they manage to sort something out. I had the choice of 3 hospitals..Queens in Romford, Basildon,or Chelmsford, but Chelmsford dosnt offer all the services apparently? Ive gone for Queens as its new and the nearest..but dont have good or bad stories about it...I have just called the surgery, apparently the midwife that deals with our surgery is on holiday this week...so should hear from her next week...well hope so!! ill be 12 weeks by then!

Bettymamma · 11/06/2007 15:17

sorry to hear about being mucked about BWmum. Have heard fabulous things about C&W but you'd might have to leave as soon as you get the first twinge. Stay away from St Hellhole. Have heard similar things about Mayday in Croydon - sorry Maydie, as it's known round our way. Anyone going there - I've heard its improved.

katy1 - how's ds now?

katyt1 · 11/06/2007 16:46

ds is fine thanks we went to sing and sing as the more i read the less worried i was. plus the original friend with it went last monday too so anyone would have got it by then. turns out at least one of the others has it, so was glad i went as i was able to reassure her.
then went for tea, no cake, didn't feel hungry, but just had a choccie biscuit so no virtue points for me.

there's always home birth??? i had one with ds and def plan to do so again.
re drive to hosp - most of us go into labour at night so less traffic. and most of us will take forever (sorry but true!) so you shd have plenty of time to get there, so i would go with C&W. any hosp bad enough to have a nickname like that is surely a no go zone.

i would have a choice of southend, poss chelmsford (hi fellow essex mum beller) or basildon but want to stay at home unless i have to go in, so will only end up in southend anyway. don't care really as if i'm there i'll be having emergency c-section and will only be in the surgical bit. will insist on paying for a private room after tho!

right ds asleep in car, so want to make the most of it as he hasn't really slept all day. will have to wake him up at some point for tea tho, hmm.

plummymummy · 11/06/2007 16:48

I am supposedly going to Mayday. I say supposedly because I had no say in the matter. I am going to look at it before making up my mind. There are ways and means - that is all I am saying for now. I have heard that the birthing centre is very good. Haven't totally ruled out home birth either. Most of all I just hope I avoid the post-natal wards as they are hell wherever you go I think.

Skibump - so very sad to hear of your loss. It's so unfair How are you? I hope you manage to conceive again quickly when you feel ready.

Haven't heard from Mrs McJ for a while.

Hi everyone else. Lol at your dp angechica - bidding on a ginger kitten!

Angechica · 11/06/2007 16:56

www.freecycle.org

from there you join your local group (you can join more than one but the ones in big towns and cities are best) eg I live in Northumberland but I subscribe to the Tyne & Wear one).

happy freecycling.

PS Hi Awen I am 9+2 but still vague about my dates so dating scan should sort that out (about 10 Jan?). I just feel I am further on than that!

i had my booking appt last week. it was at the local Sure Start - there is lots of wicked stuff going on there post-natal clubs and baby massage etc. So - almost worth living in an area where my car gets vandalised every month without fail!!

Housemum · 11/06/2007 17:04

Gingeme - it was someone else who originally mentioned Freecycle - I've never been lucky enough to find anything I want! The site is Freecycle and then you search by county for your local group

bluebell82 · 11/06/2007 18:00

hello all, I have been bobbing on and off this thread for a couple of weeks, but I just wanted to let everyone know that I had an early scan today and saw the little heart flashing, they even gave us a picture, I cried uncontrollably with happiness, the bean is fine! I am 7+4 days and sick as a dog I love it!

Jenswish · 11/06/2007 18:20

Hey all...

Skibump ---- am soo sorry to hear that I hope that you're ok.... please feel free to come back if you need to speak to us again.

Knackered today, the heat does not suit me. Never slept at all last night. I'm so tired.

My boobs hurt, my skin itches, I've got headaches and none of my clothes fit! i'm having a bad day today!! haha.

Plus I'm so jealous you've all had these scans and i've not even seen any docs or anything yet. Got to wait till 20th!!!

I'm going to bed before I bring the thread down anymore!

fruitful · 11/06/2007 19:22

Oh Skibump! I was hoping you'd not been on because your computer wasn't working.

Hospital had no scan appointments free today so have one booked tomorrow at 10:30. I'm trying hard not to think about it.

MamaMaiasaura · 11/06/2007 19:22

Just popping on to see how fruitful is. Anyone heard if she is ok. Thinking of you fruity and hopinbg all went ok.xx
