MrsMcJnr · 11/07/2007 14:52

Bettymamma ? it?s weird, I got a bit of one before I MC last time but it faded quickly and there is nothing now ? hair on legs is growing at the rate of knots however plus I am so hungry at the moment. I am trying to be really healthy but I?m getting all that stuff so fast that I then turn to not so good stuff, might have to up the proportions! Thanks for the good wishes for tomorrow

nicky6 · 11/07/2007 15:03

beckyau - cannot believe you have been up to tiling a bathroom - i changed the beds, did the washing watered plants etc and was tired it made me be sick, so my then "proper" work which i am meant to be doing from home has suffered - (ie i have done very little except lie down)

the rest of us must now be nearing the safety line i am 11+3, first time i see anyone is next thursday for scan and nuchal - bit apprehensive am most jealous of those talking baout there second scan

quite a few lawyers hidden behind these names it seems

i accidentally told my brother i was pg, but swore him to secrecy, my dh has insisted no-one knows until after the scan (although we did agree i could tell my mum at 9 weeks) But felt so guilty i ended up telling dh - i think he is a bit cross, but as i am pg he doesnt want to upset me so i think i got off lighty. - just very hard to keep lying al the time

nicky6 · 11/07/2007 15:07

maternity pay - what if you are self employed - do we get nothing like everything else or i think i read somewhere that we are entitled to something too - hooray

MrsMcJnr · 11/07/2007 15:14

Nicky ? remember your body is doing the equivalent of running up a hill at the mo ? be kind to yourself hope next Thurs goes well for you seems we lawyers are not quite a busy as we as a profession make out! (or should be doing other fee charging things! ) it is so hard to keep the secret ? we couldn?t, the fact that I am off the sauce was a massive give away so we?ve had to own up whenever the situation has arisen! The self employed are now entitled to mat pay ? very recent I think you too can have your slice

gingeme · 11/07/2007 15:59

Hi MrsMcJnr no citrus cravings just sweet things especialy apples. I must eat about 3-4 a day.
Yes Bettymamma I am going to ask what sex but both dh and I have agreed not to tell anyone. I am very good at keeping secrets
Ive never had that line down my belly mind you I am very light skinned being a ginger I cant believe how quick my hair is growing too. Leg hair and pit hair is impossible! I have arcrylic nails too and I usualy get them done once a month or so but its fortnightly now. Very chav I know but its my little treat.
Need a wee loads today too.Got back from shoppping about 2pm and have been about 5 times already.
Well I hope evryones ok this afternoon. x

MrsMcJnr · 11/07/2007 16:22

Thanks PBirdy perfect! Sorry crossed with you before Am I right in thinking that we still get taxed at our usual rate on those payments? Hope I?ve got that wrong, that would leave me with so little

Gingeme ? I?m with you on the apples ? appletiser too! on the hair thing, DH referred to the LadyGarden as a Brazilian Warthog the other day ? must do some pruning whist I can still see what?s going on! My nails are pretty good just now too ? I?m a nail fiend inherited from my mother. I use the Jessica system and that always helps but they really are long and strong at the mo weeing lots too but then very thirsty all the time so I guess it?s a balance thing

barristermum · 11/07/2007 17:54

Good luck for tomorrow Mrs McJnr - thinking of you.
Pbirdy - v impressive. Is Mrs McJnr right about us self-employed people getting something? I thought that was means-tested and meant if dh worked there was damn all about?
Still as sick as a dog unfortunately. Also got a bit overwhelmed after meeting a friend in Peter Jones then felt brave enough to go into the pram/buggy section. Am now SO confused. Gingeme and other multiple mothers - you are going to have to give all us newbies a cribsheet of what we really do need to get and of what sort. Apparently you can book an appt at Peter Jones and they will tell you everything you need for your nursery but methinks their idea of "needs" may be a smidge extravagant!

plummymummy · 11/07/2007 19:59

Hi guys. Back from the Spa. No time to read mags as whisked in and out, but was given a sandwich and a cup of tea which was v nice. Staff v nice. Feel ok and glad it's done. Op went well apparently - no complications. I will be taking at least a week off, maybe two. My work is not a genteel environment so have to be feeling 100% before going back. Mrs McJ - good luck for tomorrow

gingeme · 11/07/2007 20:08

Thank goodness your ok plummymummy. Tea and sandwiches eh you were spoilt. So do you just have to rest now? I know that seems a silly question. Did they offer counciling or anything like that?

plummymummy · 11/07/2007 20:12

Hello Yes I am supposed to take it easy for the week. Have been given painkillers. The EPU gave me a leaflet yesterday with info on counselling but I doubt I will take it up - after all I have mumsnet! More importantly I have been referred to the recurrent miscarriage clinic so at least I will see if there is a reason why it's happening. I suspect it's just rotten luck though.

gingeme · 11/07/2007 20:19

Not supposed to you ARE taking it easy for a week at least.
Hope the investigations help and there will be a new bean for you when your ready I realy do

MamaMaiasaura · 11/07/2007 21:55

Hugs plummy. Take it easy and have lots of rest. Glad they will be investigating for you. You do similar work to me dont you? (MH Nurse) My memory might be screwed up tho. xxx

MamaMaiasaura · 11/07/2007 22:00

PinkPetal · 11/07/2007 22:49

Seen some posts about maternity rights at work - can anyone give me some advice?

I'm due on 18th January, and i started work in my current job at the beginning of March, but I was being paid through a recruitment agency (3 months freelance before being made permanent). I was made permanent at the beginning of June. Therefore i don't think i will receive the 6 weeks of 90% pay at the start of my maternity leave as, although i have been working for the company for long enough, i haven't been paid by them? Can anyone help. It means the difference between having to go back to work after 3 months rather than 6 months. Thanks xxx

plummymummy · 11/07/2007 23:40

Yep MH PICU nurse.

beller · 12/07/2007 08:35

Morning all,

I took yesturday off as I hate being here at the moment...had a headache (again) and said it was migraine...back today and things just seem worse. The guy i work withs last day....and hardly anyone talking...the other two guys on the desk conitnually whispering to each other bla bla... Really dont want to wish my pregnancy away, but hate it here now!!

Bettymamma- im not going to find out..just going to wait...My dad really wants me to find out...dont know why?!

Plummymummy - glad the op went as well as it could, rest up and my thoughts are with you xx

Mrsmcjnr - My nails are the same...really strong and long....love them!!

Pbirdy - Cheers for the offer of advice. I dont think there is anything i can do at the moment. We have a clause in our contract that says if we dont make 2:1 of our salary they can cut it. Mine has dipped down since feb, btu they usually wait to see if it balances out over a year to cut,but they havnt. I still cant say anything though, as that is just what normally happens, its not written in. They are just being weird about other thinsg too...meetings that i dont know about etc, I have a meeting today witht he 2 guys left on the desk and a director. I am off next week (thank god) but i know they wont cover my clients properly. Also they guy that is leaving, i never asked for in the first place, i wanted someoen else, and was just "given him". Now the figures dtn add up , i get the pay cut?
This all probably dosnt make too much sense, all in all i will just have to write down anything out of the ordinary and see. Thanks again Pbirdy xx
(long ramble there!!)

plummymummy · 12/07/2007 09:23

Sorry to hear about the bullying that's going on in your workplace beller. Only two days left til you are off, then you just need to concentrate on having a lovely holiday and hopefully you won't get any headaches. Does paracetamol work?

mum2sons · 12/07/2007 09:35

Hallo!

Sorry I haven't been around much but thought I would pop in and say hi! I am having another scan tomorrow, a dating one. I cancelled the last one and then decided to go for it!

I am also really annoyed with my GP. I have a urinary infection (apparantly but have no symptoms). I was therefore prescribed trimethoprim and sent a prescription in the post with no explanation other than "your doctor has prescibed this for a urine infection". Being 8 weeks at the time, I decided not to take it. Lucky that as when searching on line for trimethoprim it says
AVOID IN THE FIRST TRIMESTER OF PREGNANCY AS KNOWN TO CAUSE MAJOR ABNORMALITIES AND HEART DEFECTS... I am so and still haven't taken it (on cranberry capsules instead).

Sorry for the rant!
Hope you are all doing ok xxx

MotherofZ · 12/07/2007 10:58

What an incompetent GP. Should complain - what if does that to another poor pregnant woman and she takes his advice.

fruitful · 12/07/2007 11:50

Plummy I've just caught up. I'm so so sorry, that is so bl**dy unfair. Take it easy and I hope the clinic get you some answers.

Mum2sons - good job you checked! Complain in writing so they have to do something about it.

I haven't been on this thread for a while - been hibernating and trying not to think about babies. I'm 11 and a bit weeks and I've just had my scan this morning, which was a lovely calm anticlimax, much the best sort. Normal baby in there kicking around, come back in 2 months.

Bettymamma · 12/07/2007 11:52

Our thread is getting too big - i think i remember the new titles! Here goes xx
