Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MrsMcJnr · 10/07/2007 16:34

Bettymama ? how about ?race you to be the first of the year?? well not well over 12 weeks ? exactly 13 weeks today My Mum is wishing a Christmas baby on me to get me back for years of complaining about a birthday on 29/12 (I was due 25/1) so I might be joining you in that position (hopefully without stirrups ) on that festive day! I want flutters ? about 3 more weeks for me do you think? All those things can be true about Capricorns we can also be too loyal and tend to care a bit too much what people think of us ? plus I know this from myself and my many Capricorn friends ? we like to have the last word in a row or we continue it in our heads Don?t know many quiet Capricorns though ? most I know are confident and outgoing go getters

Can?t believe someone tried to steal your alter ego Awen

Nicky6 ? I like Sagittarians ? my sister is one of those never say never re 4 babies ohh so you are one of THOSE lawyers ? I did a few bail appeals when I was an NQ but ended up doing mostly matrimonial and child work until I hung up my gown and turned to banking work

Hello Barristermum ? sex and violence hey and you are right about employment tribunals, I?ve did a few some years back and they are a pain for employers because you (as opposing counsel) can cite all their employees and make it cost them a lot so most of them settle before you get going. Was wondering how Thurs had gone! So glad but sorry about the puking!!

That?s good news about the RMC Plummy but do make sure that they retain cells to test tomorrow sorry to sound so mercenary but you won?t want to miss out of the valuable info you should get xx

Bettymamma · 10/07/2007 16:36

Plummy I have a friend who has been referred to the recurrent miscarriage unit at Kings and she too has said they have been brilliant. I will really miss you on this thread and wish you all the luck for the future. I'm sure Kings will be able to help.xxxx

plummymummy · 10/07/2007 16:41

Thank you both of you What would they be testing for with retained cells? Quite ignorant about all of this so info much welcome. Last 2 m/c I waited it out so all the cells went down the loo (sorry to be so vulgar).

MrsMcJnr · 10/07/2007 16:48

Plummy ? they should be able to tell from the cells what happened. One of my friends has a horrible genetic disease in her family and when she lost her first before she got a diagnosis either way for the genetic thing, she had and ERPC and they were able to see that it wasn?t the genetic disorder but a trisomy situation totally unrelated to her history. It made her feel a lot better. Of course, they might not be able to tell you what happened but given your history, it might really help going forward to at least make them try. It could be invaluable to you. Xxx

leCodgy · 10/07/2007 16:53

Oh plummymummy I'm so very sorry this has happened to you again. Thinking of you and I hope the clinic finds out the cause of your m/cs and wish you all the luck and love in the world for the future.

barristermum · 10/07/2007 16:57

Absolutely with Mrs McJnr here plummy - friend of mine had lots of tests which meant they could eliminate genetic defects etc and narrowed it down to a problem with her immunity - she kept rejecting foetus and they were able to give her drugs to override that in her next successful pregnancy

plummymummy · 10/07/2007 17:05

That's interesting. I will ask them tomorrow. I have to take a dressing gown and magazines/books advised. I will pretend I am going to the Spa! Apologies, I have a dry sense of humour

katyt1 · 10/07/2007 18:50

oh no plummy was sure everything was going to be fine.
so so sorry.
hope tomorrow isn't too awful and some results come of it in the tests.

just when i started thinking we were all getting near 'safety'.
how many of us left to have 12week scan? (there's 12 of us after you PM) i'm wishing the away but it won't go fast enough...

keep well everyone

mummyto2littleprincess · 10/07/2007 19:36

mummyto2littleprincess · 10/07/2007 19:37

i dont have my next scan until 17th sept which i will be 21wks its ages to go but will find out the sex then which i cant wait

Housemum · 10/07/2007 19:41

My thoughts are with you Plummymummy - do keep that sense of humour, it will definitely help you. I hope they can get some definitive answers for you and that we all see you on another AN thread in the future, and a PN one after that.

plummymummy · 10/07/2007 20:09

Housemum I intend to Wish everyone luck with their scans. Will pop back on from time to time to see how everyone's doing.

BeckyAu · 11/07/2007 08:27

Plummymummy - I am so so sorry for your loss. I wish there was something I could say to relieve your pain - but I will just wish you all the luck in the world for the future. xxxhugsxxx

It seems we are all slowly but surely starting to get over the MS? I know I have been incredibly lucky compared to some of you ladies but I am feeling better. This week I have tiled my mum's bathroom (she had a leak and it's had to be gutted - long story but poor old girl's in a bit of a mess!)and yesterday I laid the floor. I felt absolutely fine til I was clearing up when the smell of Meths made me feel sick. Panicked I had done bean harm but my Mum (an ex GP) promised me bean would be fine, then I realised I was exhausted so DH and I went to the pub for dinner to celebrate the fact he has a new job. Hurrah!

Also, it looks like we'll be moving house come September! We have a buyer and an offer accepted on a house (decor stuck in 1973 but I love DIY so it's great for me!) so it's all so busy at the moment. I really don't want to try to move when I'm huge but as this is my first I have no idea what to expect and when...

Barristermum - thanks for asking - Archie (our cat who sliced his paw) is fine - all stitched up (£300! Argh!!) and now desperate to go out which he can't do til Friday. I think his incessant crying is to prepare me for Bean's arrival!

Last tiny worry... should I be able to feel anything at all of bean? I am now 13+3 and feel nothing at all. Just a bit blobby fat but not pregnant at all in the slightest whatsoever. I am so shocked and saddened by Plummy's news and it does make me nervous.

Love to each and everyone xxxx

BeckyAu · 11/07/2007 08:28

oops sorry! Pressed the submit button twice

Bettymamma · 11/07/2007 10:00

Thinking of you today Plummy. Hope its as stress free as possible. You've carried your ds successfully, it will happen again. Just so sorry you have to go through this heartbreak.

Beckyau don't go too mad with the diy! We are in the process of having our kitchen done at the moment so our house is a building site. My dd keeps telling me that 'man has made mess!' Regards feeling movement its not normal to feel movement until about 16 weeks onwards I believe especially with the 1st. I felt my dd at 16 weeks but have felt this one since 13 weeks which is just bizarre and not normal and makes me think i'm going mad.

My 2nd scan is 28th August and
i think i want to know the sex this time. What's everyone else's view? I was really keen not to know last time.

MrsMcJ - you get presents at our local hospital if you have the first baby of the year! I def plan not be in stirrups this xmas. Not sure why I was put in stirrups last time?? Capricorns are loud go-getters. I will never have any peace in my family! Fab.

Barristermum - I hope that puking subsides soon. It will be a distant memory of the past before you know it.

Hope everyone else is well.xx

plummymummy · 11/07/2007 10:24

Ahem - I am not a loud go-getter - mind you, do know a few male Caps who are!

Thanks for all your lovely supportive messages. I am fasted, bathed and awaiting my day at the Spa. Just a stop off on the way to get some magazines. Was going to get my hair done but then realised they won't be paying any attention to the hair on my head

Seriously though, I am doing ok. I cried a lot yesterday morning and it did me the world of good. My boss has been very supportive and I am under no pressure to go back to work soon.

gingeme · 11/07/2007 10:59

Glad your feeling ok today plummy good luck at the spa today.
Im not sure if Im feeling movements yet. I feel something in the morning when I first wake up and roll onto my back but that might just be a full bladder
Backyau thats fantastic news about your move. Sounds just what you need. Take it easy with the DIY though. Glad your cat is on the mend too. I remember my Mums cat having his ear sliced a bit at the top. There was blood everywhere but he wouldnt stay still to let us look. I think that cost about £250. Still hes just a bit lop sided now
I just cant believe how sensative my boobs still are. Does anyone here who has dd's remember there boobs being like this? I know Im clutching at straws here but after 4ds's and the sensativity gone by now.......

PBirdy · 11/07/2007 11:26

Plummymummy - I am so so sorry about what has happened. You seem to be staying positive (at least on the outside!). It is such a hard time and all the left over hormones etc do not help matters! Thinking of you and your DH and hope that you will get strength from each other in the coming weeks / months. I am glad to hear that your work is being supportive. Take care, rest lots XXX

PBirdy · 11/07/2007 11:32

It has been a while since I posted, work has been quite busy lately so I have not spent my usual hour or so each day on Mumsnet! I haven't read through the whole thread so I apologise if I have missed any big news.

Beller - Sorry to hear about your problems at work. I could not see from scrolling down what actually happened. I am an employment lawyer so let me know if I can help with some free advice. That goes to all of you ladies (although please don't advertise me on Mumsnet or anything!). I usually act for employers so I am well aware of the shameful things that they try to get up to - especially the financial institutions in the City! I am battling myself at the moment not to be sidelined onto the crappy work and away from the big clients. It is an uphill struggle unfortunately.

Anyway girls, hope that everyone else is well. I heard my baby's heart beat on a doppler monitor on Friday (they didn't turn it on for my scans) - so fast! It was great. I love the tangible evidence of being pregnant, at the moment I don't feel anything. I am excited about feeling movement but guess it is a few weeks off.

MrsMcJnr · 11/07/2007 12:44

Plummy ? thinking of you lots today hon x take time off work (at least a week) you won?t think you need it but down the line you?ll realise that you did ? if that makes any sense.

We are getting safer everyday Katyt1 I have private nuchal tomorrow but dating scan isn?t until next Fri (14+3)

Mummy2tolittleprincesses ? that will be exciting we don?t want to know the sex. Probably because it?s our first .

BeckyAu ? congratulations to you for feeling less sick and to your DH! exciting about the house too! glad Archie is well! (no pet insurance? It?s been our godsend ? we have 3 cats and one snagged her Achilles last Christmas and we were at the vet every week for 8 weeks!) I think we are too early to really feel anything though I thought I felt a sort of ripple last night the whole way across my abdomen ? it was really odd, very alien like (probably wind! )

Does anyone have a linea negra and if so when did you get it?

Bettymamma ? exciting that you want to know the sex my sis didn?t with the 1st but did with the 2nd ? we don?t want to know, probably because it is our first like presents

Hello Gingeme any citrus cravings?!

Hello PBirdy exciting about hearing the heart beat! I might take you up on the free employment advice later on in the pregnancy if I may ? DH and I want to move to Spain permanently shortly after the birth and whilst I only get statutory min benefits at work, I?d like to carry on receiving them when we get there as I don?t plan to go back to work (obviously with new firm) until at least the late Spring.

MotherofZ · 11/07/2007 13:52

Is this a stupid question? what is a linea negra ???

Bettymamma · 11/07/2007 13:53

Hi all

Am off soon and might not be around for a while again unless i sort out broadband at home.

MrsMcJ - I got the whole linea negra line thing last time. Takes a year to fade once you get it! My mum's part portuguese though so i don't know if that means I'm more likely to get it?? I don't have it yet but my belly is as hairy as a yetis at the moment. Good luck for the scan tomorrow. How exciting!

PBirdy - i'm guessing i'll prob need your advice in October when I'm awarded my £2.50 bonus. Fantastic to hear baby's heartbeat. I haven't heard mine yet either.

gingeme - i had really sensitive boobs with my dd. Are you going to find out what you're having?

hope everyone else is good xx

Bettymamma · 11/07/2007 13:54

linea negra is a brown line that goes down the middle of your tummy. Its something to do with the pigment of your skin doing something weird when you're pregnant. God knows why some people get them and some don't!

PBirdy · 11/07/2007 14:48

MATERNITY PAY AND BENEFITS

Hello All, hope that this helps. Set out below are the statutory minimum entitlements to maternity pay - if you have a policy or employment contract that provides for something more generous, then you are entitled to that instead.

To qualify for statutory maternity pay, you need to have been employed for 26 weeks at the end of the 15th week before the expected week of childbirth. (they make it easy to understand hey?)

What you do is:

1.take the week that your due date is in (a week goes from Sunday to Saturday). This is the expected week of childbirth (EWC).

  1. count back 15 weeks (don't count the EWC).

  2. So long as you are employed on the 15th week before the EWC, and you have at least 26 weeks continous employment at that point, then you will get statutory maternity pay.

It doesn't matter if you decide to go back to work, decide to never work again (wish that was me!) or decide to move to Spain etc. If you qualify for it you get paid no matter what you decide to do later.

You get paid 90% of your usual salary for the first 6 weeks (uncapped) and then £112.75 per week for the balance of 39 weeks (9 months). It certainly isn't enough to retire on - but count yourselves lucky - if you lived in Australia you wouldn't get paid anything.

Hope that makes sense. Let me know if not. For goodness sake don't quit work before the 15th week before childbirth!

PBirdy x
