Naetha · 11/06/2007 19:40

Hi again folks, tracked you down to the new thread!

Just come back from my 4 day festival, which although hard work was awesome fun! Just hope bean enjoyed it as much as I did

Got my scan on Friday, so I'm very very excited!! My biggest fear (other than the obvious of course) is that they'll tell me I'm not pregnant, never have been and it was all in my head - I had a weird dream about it the other night! (This was after the dream about being chased by sheep-goat hybrids when on our way to taking a computer to Holland... [hmmm]

How's everyone holding up?

gingeme · 11/06/2007 20:42

Also, definately getting a bit of a bump...how many of us huge/showing/slightly showing/still in my skinny jeans.....?

plummymummy · 12/06/2007 08:54

Only 7.5 weeks but tummy protruding. Work colleague who knows pointed out that my tummy (usually quite flat)is starting to stick out. I can't hold it in anymore. My waistline has thickened. I was worried it was way too early but I had a look at a website and it did say it can happen from 8 weeks so as I'm 8 weeks on friday I guess that's about right.

gingeme · 12/06/2007 08:55

Good morning ladies. Feeling decidedly sick this morning .
Beller you can take paracetamol while your pregnant. It might take the edge off your headaches. Also if you have hayfever as I do you can take Piriton. As all other anti histamines have steroid in them.
Im currently bidding on some maternity trousers on Ebay. The seller said they expand with your bump so I could wear them now while my tummys still not big enough for proper maternity ones.
Well Got to take my ds3 to nursery now. Hope the fresh air blows the sickness away. Have a good day all xxxx

plummymummy · 12/06/2007 08:57

Beller do you know anything about government grants for nursery for 3 yr olds? Ds goes full day 3 days a week but was thinking of reducing it to 2 when on mat leave and applying for him to go for 2.5 hr session on the other 3 days. Just wasn't sure how it all works. Don't worry if you don't know all the ins and outs as I will post on the nursery section.

plummymummy · 12/06/2007 09:01

Morning gingeme - have you put on much weight? Was also wondering whether you think it is harder to lose the weight second time around (since you've had 4 I figured you would be a good person to ask). I know I shouldn't be worried about that but I'm just trying to think ahead so that I'm focused and don't become a lazy slob!

gingeme · 12/06/2007 09:26

plummymumy Im maybe not the best person to ask as Im not the sort of person to weigh myself and I dont worry about my wieght. Im a size 18 and thats usualy what I go by as to how tight my clothes are. Im still fitting into my jeans but I have a couple of 3 quater trousers that are quite tight now I only bought them a few months ago off Ebay. So realy I just go with the flow so to speak. As I said feeling sick today too so Im bloated today too. Hope that helps

MamaMaiasaura · 12/06/2007 09:30

gingeme - sorry to hear you are feeling sick. If it is any consolation I thought I was going to be sick on the school run. I remember a few weeks back worrying that sickness had gone etc now I feel so so icky..

My waist is starting ot expand a bit, reckon all wind and bowels!

My sleep is completely up the spout, am very tired and wish i could go back to bed now but shopping being delivered (lazy cow me ). Woke up again at 4ish couldnt get back to sleep for ages. Blocked nose - used a bit of kids olbas oil (hope it is ok to) and needing wee. I also ate half a melon at about 11pm last night

Fruitful - good luck with your scan today xx

beller · 12/06/2007 09:34

plummymummy- this might help
"Funding for the provision of the free places is allocated to local authorities, who decide how it is spent to suit local needs. In many instances this provision is attached to existing primary schools. The local authority has a legal duty to provide for all three and four year olds whose parents want it, but that right does not extend to parents necessarily being able to choose which facility they might specially want. Any time spent at the nursery beyond the five 2.5 hour sessions for 33 weeks a year may be charged for."

Im due to learn all about this when i have a start-up session at the local council early July, hope this helps though?

I have put on only 1 kg, but definately expanded, but im nearly 11 weeks, so maybe should expect to....still seesm weird though!

plummymummy · 12/06/2007 09:39

Thanks gingeme - I don't want to be a size 0, just my normal size iyswim. I didn't worry with ds as I assumed it would all drop off when I breastfed - big mistake! Infact I lost more when I started bottle feeding him at 7 months. I think the trick is to try and keep active but last pg I had SPD which made that impossible. Oh well - atm I just want a viable pg so everything else isn't as important.

plummymummy · 12/06/2007 09:40

Thanks beller. It does help.

beller · 12/06/2007 09:47

awen- i get that at night....blocked nose...one of the books I have said that its quite common...not great waking up with your tongue stuck to the roof of your mouth though!

BeckyAu · 12/06/2007 09:54

Morning ladies

I just wanted to say a quick thank you to everyone for their support while I panicked about symptoms disappearing at the weekend. It was really scary as I was convinced there was something wrong but can now report sore boobs back with a vengeance and I'm utterly exhausted again. So next time I'll just enjoy the energy and lack or nausea!

Awen and Gingeme - so sorry to hear about your sickness this morning. Have you tried nibbling on blueberries? Sounds strange but it really helps me so might be worth a go?

Plummymummy - I am terribly envious of your normal flat tummy. I have a jelly belly from too much wine and chocolate so I think it'll be a while til I look any different! But it must be fun to start seeing the changes? I'm looking forward to that bit.

Good luck to fruitful - let us know how you get on.

Helloooooo to all other ladies (((waves))) xxx

Bettymamma · 12/06/2007 10:01

Morning ladies

I've been sick as a pig this morning! 2 weeks break and its back again for about 10 mins and then disappears. Nice. How are you all?

Plummy - I take it all back. I've heard Mayday has really improved and even has a birth pool!

congrats bluebell with your lovely scan

beller - I definitely have a bump now but try to hold it in at work. How about you? Can still get into the skinny's but it's not comfortable. Saw TopShop do skinny maternity jeans!

gingeme - hope sickness was blown away

awen - my sleep has become irratic too. Hot/humid weather is not helping!

I shall try to take a kip at my desk x

Bettymamma · 12/06/2007 10:03

Good luck to fruitful too - will be thinking of you at 10.30!

plummymummy · 12/06/2007 10:07

Well whilst my tum has always been quite flat, my hips and bum do not permit skinny jeans bettymamma i am still not convinced about mayday. Did you read about that poor man in the local rag who is bringing up triplets alone after his wife died following perforated bowel after c section. Terrible

Bettymamma · 12/06/2007 10:16

I did but thought I wouldn't mention it.... It's got a 1 star rating! I've been posted off to East Surrey which has a 0 star rating. hmmm

beller · 12/06/2007 10:27

where do you get the star ratings for the hospitals?

Bettymamma- I can still wear my non skinny jeans..but trousers etc all a tad tight..i too amd trying to hide it from work! I was probably at lowest weight since my 20's recently, as I trained for the marathon etc so think it will show pretty quickly. Although liek i said, i work with about 300 men, so i could probably start labour on the office floor before they noticed!

Bettymamma · 12/06/2007 10:48

LOL Beller! hehehe. Not very pleasant though. Probably safer than some of these hospitals we're talking about. My sister told me about our local ratings. I'll have a look on the web to see what I can find.

Naetha · 12/06/2007 10:52

I found the NHS star ratings on the BBC here: news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/bsp/hi/health/05/nhs_league/h tml/ratings.stm

I couldn't do it by postcode though, had to do it by health authority. My chosen hospital (Airedale) is 1 star as opposed to the one I didn't chose (Bradford Royal) which got 2, however I've heard far too many scare stories about Bradford to be comfortable there!

Weight wise I've just lost a stone and a half in the last 6 months (gallstones - great for losing weight, not so good for pain!) so all the clothes that are too big for me now, will hopefully fit OK over the next couple of months until I get some proper maternity wear. I've always had a bit of a pot belly, but its definitely sticking out a bit now, unfortunately it just makes me look fat rather than pregnant!

Best of luck for today Fruitful!

Anyone else got their dating scans this week?
