Hi all,

It's all so exciting!!! I had my second scan at 8wks on this monday gone. We could see little beanie at 2cm and the little fuzz of a heart beat I'm sooo excited.

When are you are telling friends etc? I have told family and v close friends, oh and work as I was cornered by circumstances...but are you all waiting for 12wks before make it public knowledge? Roll on another 3wks now....

3 and 1/2wks to go till the nuchal fold scan - have you all gone the new procedure for this with the bood test?

pussycatmomma · 08/06/2007 12:29

lovely catch up from mrs.mc, you really should be correspondant of the year! dont know how you manage to mention each and every one of us, you must make notes
So glad all is ok for you. I now started thinking in terms of dates, 24th june have next scan and will be 9 weeks (gulp!) on 12th July i will be 12 weeks etc etc.
Have told close family and people at work, most friends, only a couple left. Will tell rest of family eg aunts uncles etc when i get to 12 weeks. Only person i have not told yet is my sister. She has been ttc for about 7 years now, has had numerous ivf attempts, ectopic miscarriage, and lots of heartache, but no baby yet . Am dreading telling her. She has gone on holiday today, a big trip for her and her husband as they planned it just after their last ivf failed, and i didnt want to spoil it for her, so we took the decision not to tell her and wait until she gets back. Hope i have done the right thing.

I tried very hard not to tell people, I've told my mum, best friend, sister in law and some of the mums I know from school and pre school. After my 12 week scan I will tell my parents in law and my other friends.

MamaMaiasaura · 08/06/2007 13:11

Mrs McJnr - you are simply fabulous. So glad bleeding has stopped for you. Must be a relief.

PinkElephnat when i got BFP i was literally 'just' pregnant (altho thought i was further along). I said wouldnt tell people till 12 weeks.. an hour later was on the phone to my mum who was on hilday in Russia at the time . Am 10 weeks tomorrow and most people know.

Anglecake - I did a jordan with DS7 - exp actually went to the local pub whilst i was in labour to get a pitcher of ice cubes! Not craving ice with this one tho (yet )

goingfor3 - thanks for that about the heartbeat. I wont expect it her to listen for it then. Am just too darn impatioent me

Gingeme - had tummy pain/ache last night and this morning. Ok after poo tho I lol at your bobby fairy.. took me a while to work out u meant booby I like bobby better tho x

MOrning sickness has returned again. Managing by eating . Went looking at maternity clothes today in dorothy perkins. I am looking for a nice dress to wear next weekend as special suprise birthday lunch for my mum. Bought my first pregnancy thing A retainer for my belly button peircing - i think i was ripped off tho as £6.

MrsMcJnr · 08/06/2007 14:48

Pinkelephant that?s lovely I saw the same on Tuesday

I?m umming and ahhing about tests. I don?t get a nuchal fold scan here, only a dating scan. We get the triple test at 16 weeks though. I am trying to decide if it?s worth having a private nuchal fold scan or not. Can?t really afford one but if you lot tell me I really should than I?ll think about it some more, any views?

Thanks PCM I draft my response in word and then paste it (also means that people at work are less likely to realise what I am up to most of the day ? Barristermum ? maybe I do have that legal devious streak after all!) Sounds like you are having a lot of fun telling people we are operating on a needs must basis still but as most of those needs arise from the fact I?m not drinking, many people now know! I am sure your sis will shed some tears but she will also be delighted for you I?m sure and would hate to think you were suppressing your joy for her. When she gets back, you will be feeling more confident about your pregnancy too.

Goingfor3 ? due to my issues, 12 weeks doesn?t mean as much as it does to others but I will still be happier people knowing as the weeks go on. There won?t be a big announcement from us then but when we get past 20 weeks ? we may spread the word then if my belly hasn?t spoken for itself!

Thanks Awen had a whole glass of ice last night but then had to get another jumper as I was freezing!! I don?t think the retainer is strictly a baby thing, it?s like a good maternity bra ? an asset preserver for you! Glad to hear your tummy?s better!

beller · 08/06/2007 14:56

Mrsmcjnr....love your updates! I do totally understand that he is scared, me too...but he was almost living ta my place right up until i told him..then i have seen him 3 times in the last 4 weeks! Nice to be able to run an dput your head in the sand!
Pussycatmomma- Sorry to hear about your sister, must be difficult for you, im sure she will be hapy for you,but will obviously feel her own sense of loss as well, big hugs xx
Awen- whats a retainer? I have had my tummy pierced for 14 years now..was just going to take it out.. ( i am 37! hahah)...tummy has always been quite flat up until now, cant see that lasting for much longer, and wont be the same after!! Do you think it will close up anyway?

MrsBiscuit · 08/06/2007 15:34

Hello everyone,

It's good to hear all your news - most of you are a couple of weeks ahead of me, so I'm learning from all your posts as I wouldn't have a clue what to be expecting otherwise.

In my naive mind I had thought it would be all blooming loveliness, but instead here I am at home, having a day off because I'm just too goddamn tired to do a full 5 day week!

Anyway, off to the garden to eat my second Fab ice lolly of the day.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

PBirdy · 08/06/2007 15:50

Hello All,

Yay yay yay for Friday afternoon!!!! I am going on hols tonight - first to Paris to see some of the French Open and then to Croatia to sit in the sun. Cannot wait for the next few hours to roll on by.

Glad to hear about everyone's positive scans - great news The stress and worry of all this is very intense. I guess we have many more months of it to go!

Pussycatmoma - yay for scan I have the same issue with a very close friend who has been trying for a long time - 2 years and is about to make decisions about IVF. I am dreading telling her the news and have no idea how to. I don't want to make a big deal about it though either if you get what I mean.

Awen - so jealous that you have "bought something". I have been browsing maternity clothes on line and in H&M the other day I accidentally drifted over to the maternity section (had to walk up a flight of stairs!) but I haven't yet taken the plunge and bought anything, other than pregnancy books.

All the bosses at my work now official "know". The big boss who I can't stand came into my office this morning and said congratulations and then said, so, was it planned? I just raised my eyebrows at him. He then goes, Oh, I don't know if it is rude to ask that question these days. He is a very senior employment lawyer and sits as an employment tribunal chairman. God help us!

Anyway, over and out for the next week. I will enjoying reading all the posts when I get back. You all take care now

PBirdy XX

Have a fab holiday Pbirdy!!
x

PinkElephant · 08/06/2007 16:48

MrsMcJr - I was told that is was a new policy from 1st June this year that all mums get a nuchal fold scan at 12 weeks and now they have introduced a blood test to go with it. I do want to have a ratio result so I can decide if I need amnio but then thats a decision in itself isn't it.

I'm really not sure what to advice you here.....ladies?

barristermum · 08/06/2007 17:20

Hey girls - am feeling similarly weekend-ish (tho' v v jealous at toomanyshoes doing it in style in NYC) although a little fragile. After weeks of fretting about so few symptoms I felt queasier and queasier on the tube, held it at Waterloo and then 5 mins past Clapham on the way to Southampton had to rush for the loo and spent the next 10 mins vomiting violently. I hadn't read my brief properly and was panicking I wouldn't be properly prepared and all in all I wished for the pre-symptom days - blearrgh!! It was 3pm before I could bear to eat! (SO not like me)

Mrs McJnr- it's great to have you fully back and I am so with you on those M&S choc flapjacks. I have decided no to nuchal and other tests - I'd rather just not have another thing to worry about. Ostrich-like perhaps.

PCM - I have a dear friend just like your sister. She was saying recently as so many of our friends have conceived she can feel they hold back on her and she just wants to be delighted for them - she only wishes it was happening to her not any the less for them. I'm still nervous as to her reaction tho'.

Beller - guess I'm glad he's back in touch if you are - can't believe how he manages to make this all about him tho .

Anyway - all have LOVELY weekends and if you can bear to keep your fingers crossed for me on Sunday afternoon for my scan. I love how supportive and sympathetic we are ((((hugs))))

gingeme · 08/06/2007 18:48

Thanks awen. yes Ive been constipated a bit and had a pooh and the tummy pain seems to have gone thank goodness. Im realy suprised Ive been constipated as I eat atleast 3 apples a day and loads of other fruit and veg.
Hi MrsMcJnr
Im going to my friends tommorrow as I have a wedding at the end of June to go to and the outfit I bought for it doesnt fit so she has some Indian outfits which apparantly one size fits all so Im going to try some on.
Have a good weekend all and try to rest.
Take care xxx

MamaMaiasaura · 08/06/2007 20:31

barristermum - my ms is def come back here. Had this morning and have it now feeling very sick. Sipping lemonade. Are you in Southampton then?

Pbirdy - have a lovely holiday

10 weeks tomorrow and very excited. THe weeks seem to be passing fairly quickly now. Def having nuchal fold scan just because i want to see little baby

plummymummy · 08/06/2007 21:27

Hello ladies. Pbirdy enjoy your hols Baristersmum good luck for sunday - got everything crossed Awen - what's a retainer? Got my nose pierced but no nothing about belly button piercing

plummymummy · 08/06/2007 21:31

Doh - know

Do you know I am getting very scatty. Managed to lock me and ds out of the house today. Was lending a mate a double buggy (it was given to me by another friend when I was pg last Jan as ds was only 18 months)and as I waved him off the door blew shut He had to hop over the gate to let me back in! Luckily I had left the patio doors open at the back.

Housemum · 09/06/2007 09:00

Scatty definitely describes me at the moment. Had to chuck out half a jar of mayonnaise the other day - was hunting through the fridge for it, couldn't see it anywhere, knew we had some as we'd had it with dinner the night before - went to get salt out and saw it in the cupboard. Also, almost put dishwasher tablet instead of washing powder in the washing machine. Definitely lost the plot...

BeckyAu · 09/06/2007 10:08

Hi Ladies

How are you all finding symptoms? I felt utterly exhausted on Monday/Tuesday and have had sore boobs since day 1 and nausea on and off. I have certainly had one symptom or another every day. Yesterday I felt totally unpregnant and fine and today the same. I had a read up on the internet and it seems that it's too early (9 weeks tomorrow) for symptoms to go on their own. So either all is fine and I'm just lucky, or there's something wrong. I re-read poor Calgary's postings as she had same dd as me an she had woken feeling unpregnant too. I am beside myself with wory. I just wondered if anyone had any experience of this or any advice what I should do?
Thank you

spud01 · 09/06/2007 10:39

Hi everyone, hope everyone is well this morning. My dd is doing childcare at sch and has made a small questionaire for the course, im wandering if anyone who already has children is willing to answer the questions. Thx

spud01 · 09/06/2007 10:52

BeckyAu is it the lack of symptoms that is making you feel not pregnant, because its fairly natural to have symptoms some days more than others. That way I dont feel pregnant at all, i have very little symptoms yet my other 3 pg i couldnt keep my head out the toilet. I do no i am pg though because when i mc my last pg i had a strange feeling of being empty and that i dont feel now

Housemum · 09/06/2007 10:53

BeckyAu - symptoms can come and go at random so try not to worry. I was only saying the other day that I didn't feel nauseous, then the next day felt yucky most of the day, ate toast all day long! I have days where it can get to the evening and I then remember I'm pg - ie have had no symptoms all day then just "remember" almost!

Spud - what sort of questions? Don't mind if it'll help. Why not start a new thread, with the reason for it/questions in the first post, then link to it here so we can answer, and you might get a few other people to?

moominmonster · 09/06/2007 10:57

Hi BeckyAU don't worry at all - with my first all I had was sore boobs on and off and I was convinced that something was wrong (I had spotting too) but my 4 yr old was perfectly fine. Have experienced exactly the same with my second (due in mid Jan) and I am just so relieved that I am not feeling dodgy long may it last!

spud01 · 09/06/2007 11:00

housemum-im not sure how do a link, the questions are just the childs name, age, if they play out where they play, things like that

MamaMaiasaura · 09/06/2007 11:11

becky, dont worry. My ms dissapeared for a while. Has come back again but symptoms really do come and go or dont even come at all xx

MamaMaiasaura · 09/06/2007 11:11

spud - i will do it too if u like

spud01 · 09/06/2007 11:21
