Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
gingeme · 05/07/2007 18:39

PBirdy I nearly wrote to the channel when I had my last ds because I had a home birth. I was realy into it until my dh reminded me that alot of people and Mums I know watch that programme too. Apparantly you get paid for it and a load of free stuff like nappies for a year etc.
Good news on the scan front then letsgo? Thats realy good. Nothing like putting your mind to rest.
I try to avoid peanuts through pregnancy though Im not realy a nut fan. Though things like nutty cornflakes or hazlenuts in Meusli Ill eat. But yes I think thats partly right about family history. Like I had asthma as a kid and I get hayfever now. My two older ds's both suffer from hayfever and my eldest has excema. I expect my ds3 will get hayfevr too as he has ginger hair and thats a big factor too

MrsMcJnr · 05/07/2007 18:44

Angchica ? can?t help hon but hope you find a baby-friendly solution

Bettymamma hey hon. I know what you mean, I can?t wait to be in the 2nd trimester! Not long now (12+2 today) how are you keeping? My hols were lovely thanks, just what I needed

Hello Barristermum thanks for the summary, we are all getting safer by the day but it is awful when people have to leave things went well today, no update on the baby really but all my bloods, tests etc are fine as is my BP (was a bit high before my hols!) hope the scan goes well, I bet you are getting really excited about going public! I?m sure half my office have guessed but I still want to wait until I have my dating scan on 20/7 (at 14+3) that said, I am now paying for a private Nuchal next Thurs so depending how that goes, I might spill the beans then ? desperately need to start wearing my new mat trousers for work that I bought in Spain. I lost ½ stone through a tummy bug when I was away but the tummy seems to carry on it?s expansion! either that or my normal clothes just had no give in them for me to get any bigger?..!

Nicky6 ? poor you! I used to feel sick enough in Court without worrying about being sick for pg related reasons! Weirdly, my MS kicked in about 9 weeks, I was pretty much fine before then but I can?t complain, it is only the odd day that it really hits me now.

Lilyloo ? doesn?t sound like your boss is being very fair

Ayrshirelolo ? haven?t met you before are you in Scotland per chance?

Hey Awen ? how are you?

Mummyto2 ? sorry you?ve had a hard time so glad all is ok take good care.

Ahhhhh DH wants dinner ? better go! Catch up some more tomorrow!

Keep safe everyone!

ayrshirelolo · 05/07/2007 20:14

Hello people! Hi Mrs McJnr, yup i'm in deepest darkest Ayrshire (i'm a Glasgow girl really!) and i know it's a totally naff nickname but best i could come up with under pressure as all the ones i liked were taken! i'm kinda new to posting, but have been hovering for a good few months checking advice for dd1, and am now out the closet as a poster... and it's becoming a habit!
I've found everyone is lovely on this thread, very mutually supportive and fab, whereas when i'm reading other (non anti natal) threads i've spotted a lot of trolls and a fair few completely crazy people ... is that coz we're all preggy and sensitive or are we just lucky? I've also started worrying about everyone with scans and ops and stuff... daydreaming when i'm at work. I'm also weird enough to imagine what i think you all look like and sound like, is that totally peculiar of me? Mmmmm.... maybe i'm losing it, or as dh puts it, maybe baby's got the brain today! Oh, and i ate a handful of peanuts in someones office today and didn't give it a second thought, bit like the prawn sandwich i ate the other day! I'm such a rebel!! hugs to you all x

Hi MrsMcJNr - I am fine here - had my scan and all was well. Nuchal test and bloods came back fab too. Have the scan pic on my profile for now and my dates changed to 31st Dec. IS your Nuchal a week today? Is a really interesting scan as get to see lots of detail and movement.

Beller - it is a very emotional time although cannot imagine how you are feeling. No more dodgy dreams with you in

Naetha · 05/07/2007 22:32

Hello all!

Glad to hear everyone is OK and had good scans

Well, I had my operation and it was a success - I am now minus gall-bladder - yay!

I also had an ultrasound this afternoon, and I am still plus baby - double yay!

The only problem is that I am in a lot of pain! I am so sore lol!

Anyway, DH is grumbling about how I don't love him because he's getting ready for bed and I'm still on here!

Speak to you all later on

BeckyAu · 06/07/2007 06:39

Naetha - congratulations on your double success - yay yay yaaaaay! Now try to relax and get better as soon as you can

Bean woke me up starving at 5.30 so I got up and managed to avoid the ice cream (bit early even for me) so I had a cup of tea and an apple only then to discover blood on the floor by my cat Archie's food bowl. So when he came down for breakfast I see him sitting holding his paw in the air like he wants me to fix it.. poor boy! I had a look and he has a big gash right across his pad so we'll have to go to the vet first thing this morning as he won't put it to the floor. So that's a nice start to the morning.
I'd forgotten to change my due date til now so here it is

Morning all

Not a good start to the day at all Backyau!! Hope the cat is ok!

Pbirdy- thanks hun, you made me cry at work as well hahaha, god i wasnt like this for the first 14 weeks!!!!!!!

Letsgo- great scan! Really does put your mind at rest dosnt it, and let you enjoy being pregnant ( if your not throwing up etc haha)

Awen - Good to hear you havnt had any more dreams! My dream last night...I met Robbie Williams in a swimming pool, an dwe started getting up close and personal , then he turned into superman and flew off...but luckily I could fly too...so followed him ?!
Then I was in some sort wind in the willows land with my neice and nephew and there was a leopard attacking us........all very strange...

Naetha- Great news about the op and bean!! Really pleased for you hun, must be a weight off your mind, and hope th epain subsides soon xx

Happy friday to everyone else xx

MamaMaiasaura · 06/07/2007 09:28

LOL @ your dodgy dreams beller. THese hormones are having a lot of fun i think.

Naetha - fab news about your op. So glad everything ok with you and baby

Becky - poor cat My cat did that, think he stood on broken glass. I think they stitched it and I had to keep him in for a bit. Means litter tray tho and you shouldnt change it. Lots of tlc and spoinling for your cat.

nicky6 · 06/07/2007 09:48

naetha - great news re op - you really have to rest though to give the inside time to heal up - i had terrible trouble with going off food - my consultant advised flat full fat coke as electrlytes and sugar helps your body.

i feel like such a liar - its amazing how many people ask if there is any news on the having baby front - i suppose its because we got married 9 months ago. I keep saying no, the only person dh has allowed me to tell is my mum (and not til 9 weeks) and thats it, scan in 1 week and 6 days cannot wait.

My mum has also got it into her head that maybe i am having twins i dont think as a first timer twins is really what i need - i think its just because of constant sick and being able to sleep 23 hours a day when normally not ill and very energetic.

Has anyone on our thread discovered they are having twins yet???

Anyway not worried no twin history on my side although i think there is on dh side.

Naetha · 06/07/2007 10:02

Thanks for all your lovely messages folks

I am so relieved its unbelievable - when the doctor did the ultrasound yesterday I could see the scan picture and bean wasn't moving and my stomach dropped - then all of a sudden, bean gave a huge bounce and pinged out of view - I don't think I've ever felt so relieved!!

We got some really good scan pictures as well which was a real bonus - was able to see so much more even though its only 3 weeks further on - was able to see the spine and the skull in such clear detail, and at one point bean turned on its side to face us, which was really spooky as it looked like it was staring right at us! The sonographer dated me at 14+2 rather than 14+6, but thats hardly a big deal, and fits in with my dates a bit better - I won't bother changing them officially yet though! See what they say at the 20 week scan.

At the moment I am very very sore. I have 4 small incisions, one just below my belly button, and three from my sternun across my ribs. The three higher ones aren't much of a problem, but the belly button one is really sore as well as bruised and very itchy! The pain's not too bad as long as I don't sneeze, cough, burp, fart, hiccup, clear my throat or try and move my upper body lol! Hopefully this will settle down soon.

I'd love to go and have a nap now, but DFS are meant to be delivering our sofa today (good timing I have to admit!) so I'll wait until they've sorted it all out, then I'll nap on the sofa

beller · 06/07/2007 10:15

Glad you got some great scan pics Naetha....not make sure you put your feet up when that sofa comes!!
x

Naetha · 06/07/2007 11:04

Hee hee - been a bit naughty - rung up DH's work (all pre-arranged by text message) to say that I really wasn't feeling well and needed looking after, and can he come home and look after me?

He's on his way now! I know its a bit naughty, but I can't make a cup of tea myself! I need tea!

beller · 06/07/2007 12:21

hey Naetha- go for it!! Nice afternoon cosied up with DH is just what you need xxx

thanks, letsgo - you beat me to it! I had great plans today to be doing some housework and paperwork, got distracted by a 15% off at Green baby, then took DD to pre-school, went past baby shop and had an hour long conversation with the bloke who runs it (shop is very quiet and he can talk for England!) Quite an enjoyable afternoon but unproductive! And I am now wishing I could afford the lovely Silver Cross doll's pram in his window for DD2, but it costs more than the second-hand real pram I've just bought for this new sprog!

MrsMcJnr · 06/07/2007 15:35

Picking up where I left off..

Sabinar ? glad the scan went well my advice is try not to worry about the odds, they are really good at the end of the day, there is no test that can tell you that everything is ok but it sounds like you can breathe a bit on the Down?s front.

Awen ? how exciting that you are feeling flutters! So glad the tests and scans came back good yup, my nuchal is next Thurs (then dating scan the following Friday1) Amazing pics hon, so, so clear. How far along were you for those? (so I can know what I expect to see)

Hey Beller ? thanks for the welcome back All the best for the results on Monday. I?m with you on the couch potato preference at the mo, I feel much better when I don?t do much sorry you lost your Mum hon Great dream

Gingeme all the best for Monday. Mine?s on Thursday. Didn?t know about the ginger hair, hayfever connection.

PCM ? hello you! how are things going? I?m 12+3 today

Hey Sarahjct I have a policy ? I never flame, it?s not nice I started out being good about peanuts but have to say that I?ve dwindled now, the books vary so much, for example What to Expect extols the virtues of peanut butter when pg! Safest thing is to avoid them I guess but it?s personal choice.

Hello Goingfor3 ? good luck with the stitch.

Congratulations on a good scan letsgo

Ayrshirelolo ? MN is addictive isn?t it! I have been posting on here for over a year now and the support I?ve received through the ups and downs has been amazing. It really has restored my faith in sisterhood I also meet up with a MNetter frequently who I met on here and I?m due to meet a few more soon ? it?s fab!

Wow Naetha ? sorry to hear you had to go through that but delighted to hear all went well hope the pain subsides very soon. The scans sounded exciting apparently sometimes they move their heads to dodge the sonogram as it is quite high pitched ? take good care and heal well

Beckyau ? poor Archie! has he sensed the bean yet? My cats want to sit on me and lick me (sorry but yuck!) all the time, quite irritating!

Nicky6 ? it?s a case of ask no questions and I?ll tell you no lies isn?t it? hope the scan goes well. We have lots of twins in my family (down both Mum?s and Dad?s side) and though it would have been fun I am quite glad this bean is alone!

By the way, I?ve become a buggy spotter I can?t believe how many bugaboos I see, are they no mega expensive?!

Hello to anyone I?ve missed

Hello All

Just a quick note to say hi - I don't have the same memory as MrsMcJnr to do personal messages to all. I would need to make notes, there is so much happening on this thread.

Naetha - glad to hear that the op went well and hope you are taking it easy over the weekend.

I had an appointment this morning (just a routine one) and heard the baby's heart beat on the doppler monitor. They didn't turn it on at either of our scans so that was great and also reassuring. As I said at the time, it all seems very theoretical until you get actual proof like the heart beat etc that you are actually pg.

I think I have started to move into the nesting mode. I have spent the day doing the most amazing clean out of my office at work and everything is so organised now. I was also in the shower this morning looking at our mess of a bathroom cabinet and thinking how much I would prefer to spend the day really sorting it out rather than going to the office. Funny. Usually I just close the door to mess and forget about it. I hope it lasts and I actually do get the whole flat organised.

Must go, have lovely weekends - I did see the post about sunshine - gosh I hope so. You can't call this a summer so far surely. I might be Australian but after last summer I had come to expect a lot more!

just counted my list versus main list and there are 3 missing ( at least), sorry, must have used an old list for my messing about, didn't mean to drop anyone off at all, sorry
the missed ones will know who they are so perhaps they can put themselves in?

chores, yes, packing for going to in-laws, clearing out fridge of anything that will go off before we get back, sorting out cats, oh and filling in my wimbledon charts

not meant to be on here now so better shoot off!
have good weekends all!
