MrsMcJnr- good luck, you will be fine

also hi to Awen & plummy, hoping you are all ok!

gingeme · 09/07/2007 15:32

Good afternoon ladies. Well Ive had the best morning ever. All absolutely fine with the nuchal scan and baby was soooooo wriggly the sonographer had a hard time making measurements so I got a good long look at he/she. Saw all the ickle fingers and toes and the strong hearbeat. Fantastic. She gave me a pic but its a bit fuzzy.
Then I came home and my maternity trousers had arrived from Ebay. Tried them on and found £20 in the pocket and they fit me lovely with lots of room for growth. Then we went to my mil's for lunch which was very yummy and am now home relaxing for a bit as my two ds's are asleep. Bliss........

MotherofZ · 09/07/2007 15:44

gingeme - lucky you....am stuck at work clock watching.....

gingeme · 09/07/2007 15:44

Motherofoz that just makes it go slower! Poor you

MotherofZ · 09/07/2007 15:47

oohhh tell me about it - feeling rubbish today as well as I had some dodgy food at a birthday party yesterday and it's given me stomach cramps (and ruuning for the loo) all day today....

MrsMcJnr · 09/07/2007 15:51

Thanks Scorpio ? howz you?

Gingeme ? ah, that?s lovely I?m so pleased ? hope your great day continues!

MotherofZ ? I?m with you on that, bored out of my mind, could find stuff to do but hey?

MotherofZ · 09/07/2007 15:54

So when's everyones 5 mth scan?
Mine is 13th Aug - can't wait!

MrsMcJnr · 09/07/2007 16:00

4 Sept at 21 weeks

Bought any baby stuff yet? I couldn't resist a little white outfit on holiday with matching bunny

gingeme · 09/07/2007 16:09

20 week scan 28th August. 1st mw appt 29 August. I asked my mw why Im not seen till another 7 weeks and she said they do that with all the ladys. Oh well atleast I asked. Though she did say if I had an enquiry before hand to ring any time of day. Guess thats what being mw led does for you

gingeme · 09/07/2007 16:10

Not allowed to buy baby clothes till after the scan so I know what colour to buy. Have to sort some space out first too

Housemum · 09/07/2007 16:10

MotherofZ - mines 13th August as well! In the morning - about 10am I think. Would fit in as you're due the day after me. Are you hoping for an early or late baby? I'm hoping it arrives a couple of weeks early (DD2 was) so that I have it before Christmas - I don't want to spend Christmas Day wondering if I'll make it through the whole day, and telling DH he can't drink anything!

Housemum · 09/07/2007 16:12

Gingeme - my appointments so far have been booking in (8 wks), nuchal scan (14 wks), MW (16 wks), due to have 20 wk scan, then next also at 20 wks. Don't know what's due after that.

MrsMcJnr · 09/07/2007 16:22

Gingeme ? what about blood and urine checks though ? surely they want to check things like that before 20 weeks?

plummymummy · 09/07/2007 18:44

Great news about scan gingeme I got spotting tonight (not red blood) but now I have mild pains. V worried

gingeme · 09/07/2007 19:55

I realy dont know MrsMcJnr. I dont remember them seeing me as late as that with my lo! Maybe it is cut backs like my dh said.
Im dreading Cgristmas Housemum. My last two were early too. Ive only not been pregnant with one of my pregnancies and thats cause we planned it that way. Guess well be having it at home this year.

LilyLoo · 09/07/2007 20:18

Plummy hope everythign is ok, keep us posted, i'm sure it will be.
The scans are fab now aren't they i was only just over 12 weeks with mine and i saw the fingers and toes too ! Good luck to all who are having theres this week.
Well i am just off to spend some money in my next catalogue for a hen weekend to Amsterdam next weekend, i just can't bear all the elastic that gathers up round the back of the maternity stuff when they on the tightest button. Will just have to buy a size up i think.
I not sure when i wnat baby to arrive really as it's dd's 3rd b day on the 13th so probably after that although am due the 6th so maybe earlier would be better so i am up and about for her b day. But not sure i want ababy at xmas time. Oh well good job the decision isn't down to me i guess

angelcake99 · 09/07/2007 20:45

Plummy just wanted to say that I have had bleeding twice now with this pregnancy and I ended up speaking to midwife and having scans to reassure me that everything was as it should be, maybe get in touch with your midwife and see if that can be arranged for you. Hope that its all okay for you xx

IAmAwenSoNobOffIWasHereFirst · 09/07/2007 21:02

Plummy - hugs to you xxxx Sure it will all be ok. Have cheard spotting is quite common.

Fab news with the scan gingeme x

plummymummy · 09/07/2007 22:52

Thanks guys but it was the accompanied mild cramps that had me worried. I am going to get scanned tomorrow. The midwife/dr can do nothing for me that I can't do myself. Having to get an appt to see a dr or midwife then waiting for them to refer you for scan can take days. I can walk in to a clinic tomorrow morning and get scanned within a couple of hours. Not that NHS Direct or any local doctor would be able to impart that info as they are ignorant to the services available for women in our situation. I feel very passionately about this. In London there are at least two walk-in clinics (one at Kings and one at Tommy's)where you can get scanned on the same day you present. Kings is in the mornings only. There are probably more nationwide. Why aren't these services better promoted? If any of you know of any more please post on mumsnet so that other women can access this very important resource. Research has shown that reassurance scans alone decrease risk of miscarriage. Right, that's my rant over.

MotherofZ · 10/07/2007 08:03

Plummy - all the best with the scan. The waiting muct be horrible (I had the same with my first pregnancy, but had to wait 2 whole days before I could get a scan).

Housemum - how wierd is that, mine on the 13th Aug at 10am too!! . Defo want the baby to arrive before Xmas - going to do all those old wives tales to get things moving (not sure if they work thought?!).

MrMcJnr - not bought anything yet. Am a little supertitious and going to wait until 6 mths - although am putting money away each month for things that I need. Saying that, got loads of things from when DD was born - so only need to buy a few clothes! If I have a girl, I've kept some of DD clothes so wil pass them down. Babies grow out of clothes so quickly so want to save money where I can!!

beller · 10/07/2007 08:41

Morning xx
Awen - im back down in southampon this weekend too to catch up with some friends, spend alot fo time on the M3!

Nicky6 - Nail varnish on a Q tip is fantastic for codl sores...boy does it sting, but mine go in a day now!!

Mrsmcjnr- Im with you on the Capricorn traits too...we have a few on here! Thanks for the not alone comment, i know, and MN has been great xx By the way im 37 !! Have a feeling this will be my only one as im pregnant and single x

Plummymummy - good luck for the scan today hun, thinking of you xxx

Lecodgy and Gingme- great scan..its fab isnt it, and makes it seem so real (like it wasnt , but you know what i mean ) xx

Motherofz - I feel the same at work , im having a mare at the moment. My scan isnt until 29th August!!! Ill be 23 weeks!!!

I really am having a bad time at work....When i told them about the pregnancy, they were fine..then little things started happeing....guys on desk being funny etc...now they have sacked the guy I work with and given me a pay cut!! So not only do i have more work, im paid less!! Which is great when i was saving up for maternity leave as i only have my salary coming in. They are clever though, I cant say anything as its written into my contract that we have to made a certain ratio to salary, and mine has just slipped underneith..they said they would raise it again if it went back up, but im only here for another 4-5 months before leave and they know that Couldnt help but burst into tears all day yesturday...just dont want to be here now
Hope everyone is ok xxxxxx

Angechica · 10/07/2007 09:19

Beller, that is awful. You should take notes of everything that happens to you, do you have a HR department that would be sympathetic (a long shot, HR depts are usually universally awful) for a confidential chat?

Did anyone watch "Fight for Life" last night? I'm not sure if I should have watched it, it gave me a totally insomniac night but it was amazing, newborn babies' ability to heal and what medicine can do to help them...

Plummymummy, do you think it is now when your third period was due, sometimes a bit of spotting is all that is due to. Hope so xx

In the Northern wastes we have the Maternity Assessment Unit at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle where you can self-refer and get an appointment to be assessed for any concerns during your pregnancy.

goingfor3 · 10/07/2007 09:35

Morning all,

This thread is so fast moving I can't keep up. I don't really feel pregnant anymore. The tiredness of the first trimester has pretty much gone now and I don't look pregnant yet just even fatter than I was before! The movements are certainly there though so it's nice to have that reassurance that something is still happening. At the beginging that fact I was pregnant was always on my mind yet noe even though I do still think about it it's not on my mind constantly.

beller · 10/07/2007 09:50

Angechica- as money brokers go, this is one of the smaller ones, and the HR dept are as thick as thieves with the MD. I know they have to kep things confidential, but like i say, there is a clause in the contract, so they havnt done anything wrong. I will keep a note on other things though, like if im not involved in decision making (im one of the managers of the desk). Its horible and I really dont want to be here. Yesturday was a horrible day, as i have starting counselling (mums death and other issues/step father etc), as I want to be in the best place physicaly and mentally I can be for the birth of babybel. Then work thing as well, along with Ex issues, just feel like the I have a ten ton weight on my head. Thats another thing, cant get rid of these headaches either! sorry totally downer week this week, but I have only 3 more days to get through and I have a week in Lake Garda!
Sorry for rambling xxxxxx

goingfor3 · 10/07/2007 09:52
