I think my leg hair is growing more too! The joys. Although my hair is needing to be washed less and I had this last pregnancy. I went over a week without washing it at one point!

CarlyJayne1987 · 02/09/2018 20:13

Lulabell1 · 02/09/2018 20:15

17weeks on tuesday and not 1 sign of the sickness budging. Wonder if this means im going to have it all the way through! Getting very worried now 10kg down i havent seen the midwife since 14weeks should i have an appointment soon because just checked my app and it says next app isnt until my 20week scan on sep 27th?

Baby160P · 02/09/2018 20:51

I'm there on the hair front, looked at laser but it isn't allowed when pregnant apparently.

Had fajitas for dinner, OH says they weren't spicy at all and my mouth is still currently on fire. Must have a sensitive mouth now 😬

DragonFlew · 02/09/2018 20:52

@lullabell1 at my trust we have the community midwife booking appt then an appt at 16 weeks and then next appt at 25 weeks.
Scans at 12 and 20 at hospital.

AliceRR · 02/09/2018 20:53

@Baby160P I wasn’t sure whether laser was allowed but haven’t looked into it to be honest. I understand everything is a bit more sensitive at the moment!

DragonFlew · 02/09/2018 20:54

@Baby160P have you noticed an increase in sense of smell? I'm so sensitive to smells, I threw up from the smell of garlic in my kitchen from the night before.

Baby160P · 02/09/2018 20:58

I'm the same with garlic!!! And coconut scent.

@AliceRR
I've been desperately searching lol. Tried the body bleach you can get but I have really sensitive skin since being pregnant too and it burnt after a minute.

twiglet · 02/09/2018 21:01

My sense of smell has been crazy since about 6 weeks only just starting to manage to be in the kitchen and I can't be anywhere near red wine as I'll be sick. Bins are another one I had to alter my route to work to avoid commercial bins...

Lookingforadvice123 · 02/09/2018 21:07

My sense of smell is ridiculous, it's only been in the last week or two that I can open the fridge/dishwasher without gagging.

Is anyone who's having no2 or more getting a new pram? I would love a shiny new one but no way we can afford/justify it, especially with having to sort DS' new big boy room before the baby comes which includes everything - decorating, new carpet, bed, wardrobe etc. We've got the Mamas and Papas Sola2 and we're buying a new seat and hood for the pushchair which is only £50, as the old one got covered in sun cream, but that's it!

AliceRR · 02/09/2018 21:31

@Baby160P I’ve just been shaving my legs altho not too often as mostly wearing trousers and then trimming my facial hairs but obviously not enough given my mother told me not to let myself go! I might try Jolene but I do find it stings at the best of times. The Boots one is gentler Internet experience so maybe try that.

Smells of onion and garlic bother me atm!

DragonFlew · 02/09/2018 21:47

@Lookingforadvice123 when we had number2 we did the same just bought a new colour pack for our silver cross pram and a new car seat as Unfortuantly the old one had gone mouldy in a damp garage!

This time we will have to buy new as we sold all our stuff! But we've decided we are mostly going to babywear so are just going to buy a cheap pram maybe a second hand one as it won't be used that much.

Yakadee · 02/09/2018 21:49

My husband made some kind of Thai meal yesterday and cooked with fish sauce...WORST SMELL EVER! It's awful, I barricaded myself in a different room away from it - yuk!

@Lookingforadvice123 - I'm having my second and won't be buying a new pram. We deliberately got a colour that would suit either - partly because we didn't find out with first and partly more babies xx

Lookingforadvice123 · 02/09/2018 21:51

dragonflew how annoying about the damp! Our loft got snow in it during the beast from the east but luckily the pram and car seat etc seem fine. The carrycot was only used for about 10-12 weeks as DS was so long, and then the whole system we stopped using when he was about 10 months as soon as he was too big for the infant car seat, we got a Maclaren stroller which we're still using now.

Is there any particular advice on using carrycot mattresses? I think to be safe we'll buy a new Moses basket mattress, but I don't really want to spend money on a new one for the carrycot! It's not mouldy in the outside or anything but was stored in the loft.

lanalawr · 02/09/2018 21:52

Does everyone who is on baby 2+ have a 24/25 week midwife appointment? I know you have fewer after the first but I was told at my 16 week appointment that the next one would be at 28 weeks (other than the anomaly scan). My friend in the next health board over has one at 24 weeks though. @Lookingforadvice123 can you let me know what you're told about the next appointment after the 16 week one please? I know we'll be in the same health board (I'm guessing same surgery too).

@Lookingforadvice123 trying to work out the pram plan at the moment. Going to hold out until Christmas/January before deciding for definite but it looks likely that we'll get a side by side double second hand. We'll keep our Silver Cross Pioneer to use again as a single though as I'm hoping we won't need a double for long.

Eyedontknow · 02/09/2018 22:29

To those still suffering, I'm nearly 19 weeks and it's finally starting to get better for me. So don't give up hope yet. Only vomited once in the last three days! But now I get irrationally worried because I'm not getting sick everyday multiple times...go figure.

More exciting/anxiety-inducing news is I have the anomaly scan this week. Haven't had a scan since 12weeks and didn't get to hear heartbeat at 16 weeks, but I've been feeling the bub move a bit (I think)!

GemmaK1 · 02/09/2018 22:33

@powkin so pleased you have had good news! Hope you have a lovely holiday x

@lookingforadvice123 I'm having number 2 and we may get a new pushchair....our first one was secondhand anyway so it's getting a bit tatty. We've kept all the furniture, car seats etc so not too much else in terms of major expense to worry about.

Is anyone else team yellow? I love the surprise of finding out the gender when they pop out!

DragonFlew · 03/09/2018 06:32

@lanalawr at my trust we are only supposed to have 16w and then straight to 28w with midwife if it's not 1st baby. However my midwife said she likes to see all women at 25 weeks for a check and to pick up the MATB1 form for work. Most employers require it for HR by 25 weeks.

DragonFlew · 03/09/2018 06:33

@Lookingforadvice123 I didn't bother with a new mattress for carrycot - just cleaned it and obviously washed the sheet to go on it

FrowningFlamingo · 03/09/2018 06:49

Welcome @pepper123123

I've been having heartburn too - I've found remegel quite helpful, I can't stand gaviscon.
I've got hip pain that's stoping me sleeping and also horrible inflamed and recessed gums. I've also felt very sick the last two days; I got off quite lightly in the first trimester so I hope I'm not one of those ladies whose sickness starts in the second and lasts right through!!

Yakadee · 03/09/2018 06:55

@lanalawr - I'm the same, had my 16 week appointment and nothing now until 28 weeks (apart from the scan). Seems like a long time doesn't it!

maxiflump1 · 03/09/2018 07:09

Welcome to the board @Pepper123123!

@lanalawr I'm the same. Second baby and no appointments bar scan between 16 weeks and 28.

Morning everyone 👋🏼

I’ve been MIA for ages as have been feeling knackered and rubbish and just collapsing into bed as soon as kids are asleep and work is (partly) done. I’m definitely feeling better than a month or two ago but still not right. This is DC3, definitely the last, and I’ve struggled a lot more to cope with the sickness this time, even though I think on balance I’ve had it much easier than with my first two. Just so much else to do and so little energy to do it!!

Anyway, glad to see that others are doing well and we’ve even got some gender reveals already! Congratulations to all Flowers

I’m 16+1 today, 12 week scan went well so now it’s just a waiting game. 20w scan should be early Oct and then I don’t see the midwife again until mid Nov. Hoping I’ll be feeling properly better by then 🤞🏼

Lookingforadvice123 · 03/09/2018 07:45

lanalawr yes sure, there was a sheet in the original pack I got given when I self referred which listed the points when midwife appts would be, did you get that? There's definitely one less than when you're pregnant with your first. I'm at N. Cardiff are you?

My 16 week appt isn't until next week when I'm 17 weeks as we're away this week.

AliceRR · 03/09/2018 08:15

I’m 17w and 16 week appointment is this Thursday but not a moment too soon as I hit myself in my bump yesterday (you know when you are pulling on trousers and then lose grip and hit yourself IYKWIM??) and that worried me! I called MW and she said should be fine but to call if any pain or bleeding...

Hoping to hear heartbeat on Thurs for some reassurance!
