Physio appointment today confirmed pelvic girdle pain.....been given a belt for when walking and exercises to do I'm hoping to strengthen everything so that it doesn't get worse.

We have our 20wk scan (at 21 wks) on Friday. Initially I was getting very nervous as he has been very quiet lately over 4 days of not feeling anything for definite but today can feel loads.

AliceRR · 25/09/2018 15:17

@twiglet That’s interesting. I’m pretty sure I have this too. Seeing MW next Thursday so will mention it then.

20w scan is tomorrow! I’m a bit nervous. Baby seems to be moving around a lot so that makes me feel better but I obviously will feel better once I know of everything is ok. The whole I had a few problems when I was born (heart problems, renal problems) so hoping baby doesn’t have the same and everything is at it should be.

Also have a presentation to give in the morning, which I still need to prepare, and seeing someone senior I. My firm about career progression in the afternoon (wanted to talk about promotion for next year before I got pregnant and now it seems weird as I will be on mat leave soon).

Anyway lots going on tomorrow!

Main thing is baby obviously

twiglet · 25/09/2018 15:31

@Alicerr mine started in the left hip and then progressed to the right and switches which side is more painful.
It gets worse as the day goes on and with walking.
I don't have pain at the front or back which apparently is common. My midwife was very good at just sorting out a referal physio has said if I strengthen then it will help. The difference the belt made whilst standing was unbelievable the relief was amazing!

fizzledays · 25/09/2018 15:33

I'm 19+4 and not feeling a thing :( I felt more about 4 weeks ago than I do now, and I swear I haven't "grown" that much. We moved house so had to wait longer for our scan, it's not until next Friday when will be 21 weeks. We had a gender scan at 16 weeks privately which said the placenta is acting as a shield so I wouldn't feel too much but it's still a bit worrying!

Fredthespider · 25/09/2018 16:04

@twiglet I keep meaning to call my MW to talk about my pelvic pain but the contact number is on the front of my book which is at home and when I'm at home they're closed so I keep forgetting! Glad you found it useful, did it take long to get an appointment to see the physio?

AliceRR · 25/09/2018 16:05

@twigley mine started about a month ago in the inner thighs as if I’d exercised my thighs the day before(!) It has since become more generalised at the tops of my thighs and around the pubic bone etc. Right side seems to be worse. Hurts when I walk, get up and if I stand on one leg to put trousers on. It’s worse some days than others and I can’t help but think if it gets much worse I won’t be able to walk far at all!

twiglet · 25/09/2018 16:07

@Fredthespider I was offered a cancellation within 3 days which I couldn't make so waited 2 1/2 weeks but I was on holiday anyway for half of that! I am north Scotland tho so not sure what wait times are like for busy city trusts!

twiglet · 25/09/2018 16:17

@Alicerr sounds like it!

I've taken a pic of the booklet dos and don'ts if that helps

@twiglet Thank you!

Leonora94 · 25/09/2018 16:52

@fizzledays I’m the same 19 weeks and can’t feel anything really, occasionally I think I do but then it turns out to just be my tummy rumbling 😂 I got myself so worked up about it last week I went to see the midwife who listened in and everything was fine, she even said it might not be until 23 weeks until you feel it for sure xxx

Picklesandpies · 25/09/2018 16:57

@Katinkak8 She didn't refer me to anyone, no. I am however seeing a consultant on Thursday for my first appointment with them (I had my thyroid removed four years ago and apparently that calls for it?) so I will ask her then. My husband does have a big head (custom made helmet in the army!) so maybe it's just that.

@maxiflump1 thanks for the reassurance. I had a bad time pushing dd1 out and she was 8lb 6 so I'm a bit anxious about anything bigger! I guess they induce you if you are too big? I'm just worried that the amount of chocolate I've eaten over the last few weeks has given me GD and now huge baby (but I feel fine in myself?)

@MrsY87 thanks for your reply. I probably won't buy any teeny tiny baby grows then Grin

Might book private scan between now and 34 weeks to see how things are going (or rather growing!)

MakeLemonade · 25/09/2018 17:00

I wouldn’t worry too much Pickles, someone has to be top (and bottom) of the growth charts as otherwise that wouldn’t be the normal frame of reference.

I’m gonna start a new thread as this one is nearly done. I’ll post the link in a mo.

MakeLemonade · 25/09/2018 17:03

Here you go, for when this one is done in a few posts... www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/3376094-Due-Feb-2019-we-re-halfway

Notquiteagandt · 25/09/2018 18:06

@Picklesandpies if they where concerned they would have booked you in for growth scans.

My baby is small 5 percentile. Still with in the range but the smaller end. 20 week scan soon so we shall see how they are doing.

But I had 4x growth scans booked in after my 12w scan on the basis of this.

So I imagine they would do the same the other way. As if he is bigger then obviously they may have concerns. Fact they havent done this makes me think its all ok Grin

fizzledays · 25/09/2018 18:59

Thank you @Leonora94 !!x

AliceRR · 25/09/2018 19:18

Do I need to do anything in particular before tomorrow’s scan (20w)? Have had no instructions so assume I don’t need to drink a pint of water or anything??

Rowse · 25/09/2018 19:32

@AliceRR my 20 week scan letter said go with a full bladder. Towards the end she couldn't see something and asked me to pop to the toilet and she tried again.

I guess it's worth going with a fairly full bladder because you can always empty it if needed.

Wames90 · 25/09/2018 20:01

@AliceRR I would try and have a full bladder because I didn’t and they were waiting for my bladder to fill up a bit more before they could get the head measurements because of the angle. I hope everything goes well for you!

AliceRR · 25/09/2018 20:12

Thanks ladies. I didn’t realise you would need a full bladder for 20w since everything is bigger but thought it odd there were no instructions.

Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 25/09/2018 20:22

@AliceRR I got my letter for the second scan and it doesn't mention a full bladder at all!

The first one did but this one doesn't. Must depend on hospital.

Wames90 · 25/09/2018 20:36

Mine said nothing about having a full bladder so I didn’t bother but the sonographer kept saying about waiting until my bladder was a bit fuller.

Rowse · 25/09/2018 20:48

I also drank a can of coke before going in to make sure the baby was wriggling to up the chances of finding out the sex!

clairehr · 26/09/2018 07:33

I didn't have a full bladder for my 20w, in fact I had a wee right before going in as they were running late. Didn't stop them seeing anything 😊 would advise taking a cold sweet drink with you though in case baby decides to have a snooze in the wrong position!

MrsY87 · 26/09/2018 07:37

My letters for all my scans specifically say you don't need to have a full bladder. I'd just drink normally and try not to have a wee the moment before you go in but if you do I wouldn't worry too much. Good luck!
